one of my last visits to the farm

got up this morning and felt like hell. it was raining on and off all night. my right ankle felt like it was broken in about 50 places. but, the past few weeks have really sharpened my pain tolerance. i'm not exactly sure how i'm walking, but i am. after mom and i went to McDonald's for breakfast (probably not the best choice) we went to the farm. i spent almost 18 years out there, trying to build a habitat good for animals, plants, insects, humans, etc. while driving up the lane, the fuckers that bought the farm in the auction (but technically don't own it yet) have taken it upon themselves to make the farm look the way they want it to. all the fencing is gone. all the cats are gone. the trees that were my cousin's father's trees from California are gone. there's these huge piles of wood and trash all over the place. i told mom it's a damn good thing i took the gasoline a few weeks ago or there would already be a few bonfires going on the farm. i put air in the tires of my truck. i'm hoping it goes for something north of $50 in the upcoming auction. we had to break down a few shelving units that we want to use in the garage of the new house. after a few hours, it was more or less time to go. if i don't have to be at the upcoming auction (mom will be out of town), today is probably the last day i will be at the farm. it was sad to see all those damn trees knocked down. the pastures were mowed, which is the first time they were touched in a decade. i kept them high so animals could hunt in them or hide in them while being hunted. i have no clue what the new owners are going to do with the place. i'm pretty sure i won't like it regardless. most of this afternoon i've been thinking of what happened to the cats. my gut tells me they are dead. and not like they were out and about and got caught my another animal dead. like they were caught and killed and dumped somewhere. if i had any guilt in my body, this would be where it would be killing me. but i don't. part of the asshole gene i suppose. just a few more weeks and all of this will be over.

i did watch most of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductions last night. it was cool to see Joan Jett play. hard to believe Green Day has been around that long. plus, i loved the induction of Stevie Ray Vaughn. between him and Lou Reed, the tears of nostalgia were flowing last night.

the Stanley Cup Final is set. Chicago vs. Tampa Bay. sadly, my dream final has always been Chicago vs. New York Rangers. what could have been.

ROH last night was so damn good i watched it again this afternoon. the buildup between Jay Lethal and Jay Briscoe has been excellent. i can't wait to see that match.

the weather has cooled down a bit today. of course, it took a day or two of rain to have that happen.

time for a music break:

the New York Yankees got some great relief pitching last night and a few clutch hits to win 5-3. they go for the split this afternoon.

after the game, i'll probably go right to watching the WWE Network. i am really looking forward to the Elimination Chamber matches tonight. hopefully, Kevin Owens will destroy John Cena. plus, the two chamber matches for the titles tonight should be amazing. hopefully i'll have plenty of videos to share tomorrow.

so on the DVR tonight will be Nurse Jackie, Happyish, Penny Dreadful, Silicon Valley, Veep and Last Week Tonight. i figure i'll watch a few after the wrestling and then catch up with the rest either Monday morning or afternoon.

while going through some shit last night, mom came across a thank you note sent to both of us back in 1981. it came from one of the hostages that was in the Iran hostage crisis back in 1979/1980. as you might imagine, i wasn't the normal 4 or 5 year old. being able to read at 2, i was fully aware of current events by the age of 4. hell, by 8 i was reading at a college level. not sure where i'm going to keep this letter, but it will find a place somewhere in this house.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone is having a great weekend. hopefully the sun is out where you are.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

hello depression, my name is...

i think the only thing i hate on earth more than losing is ignorance. and when you follow a sports team from training camp and then getting so damn close to a championship, only to come up short, AGAIN, it stings a little more with each fucking year.

the New York Rangers did the exact same damn thing they did in Game 5 last night in Game 7. i bitch and bitch about the KISS theory all the time. for those who don't know about the KISS theory, it is this: Keep It Simple Stupid. the amazing thing, it fucking works. so, once again, the New York Rangers decided to try to put on a show instead of just playing meat and potatoes hockey last night. Tampa decided to go with the KISS theory once again and sure enough, they won 2-0, just like Game 5. The King played good enough to win last night but no one on offense did a fucking thing. and then i found out after the game that the Rangers captain has been playing with a broken foot since Game 4. lovely. that's the first Game 7 the Rangers have EVER lost at home. it's the first time The King has given up 2 goals in a Game 7 since his first one. also, Tampa becomes the first team ever to defeat 3 original six teams to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. for the 3 ex-Rangers on Tampa, i wish them well. but i'll hope that whatever team comes out of the west wins it all. and i don't see myself watching much hockey the rest of the season. last night was one of those defeats that crushes a bit of your soul.

the Yankees lost last night 6-2. i didn't watch any of the game. they play again tonight. i doubt i watch that game either.

after the hockey game ended, i watched the Louis C.K. comedy special from the other night. that was fucking excellent. after that, i watched the latest episode of NJPW. that was awesome as usual.

i put on about 5 hours of sad as fuck music last night to go to sleep to. i think i might have got around 4 hours or so.

i thought mom wanted to go to the farm today but she changed her mind, mostly because of the weather, and now we are going tomorrow morning. at least we did find the titles for everything we hope that is going to sell at the auction on June 3rd.

i put together the chair last night. the directions were sort of ripped in half, so that made it a little more difficult than it should have been. plus, they were more or less vague as hell. so, once i got it done and mom didn't like it, i wasn't happy and neither was she. she ended up calling Value City and told them they can pick it up next week and take it off of her credit card. so, now i don't know what we're going to do for the chair at the desk in the kitchen. i suppose we have another folding one somewhere around here for now. it amazes me at how a company is ok with having shitty customer service. last time mom will be shopping there.

a quick comedy break as i'm trying to force myself to laugh:

that didn't work, back to the music:

i watched the FA Cup final today. that was a fucking waste of time. sadly, Arsenal broke Manchester United's record for most FA Cup titles. that really put a cherry on my shit sundae.

instead of watching hockey tonight i'll probably watch the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductions on HBO. also on the DVR tonight will be the latest episode of ROH.

i got my second package from amazon.com today. i finally got the last two Guided By Voices cds. if they are the last ones they ever do together, Cool Planet was definitely a good one to leave on. i really enjoyed it. might be their best in my mind for the last 10 years or so.

that's pretty much all for me. i've got to go vacuum the house and then watch the skies. the way my bones are starting to feel, i think there may be some rain on the way. good times.

hope everyone is having a better weekend than i am. if not, this is why they have all those bottles of alcohol available for purchase.

let the fun begin...

the adrenaline is starting to flow, and honestly, after watching this, you'll understand why:

i will probably go through every fucking emotion possible tonight while watching the game. but, i fully believe i will be breaking out the hard shit celebrating a victory tonight. so, get it done boys. PLEASE.

the Yankees pissed away a lead last night and tried to comeback late but failed, losing 5-4 to Oakland. it figures, they sweep the best team in the AL, fly across the country and lose to the team with the worst record. they play again tonight.

the shows last night were pretty damn good. the season finale of Louie was more uncomfortable comedy. brilliant. i'm saving the comedy special that came on after the show for later this weekend. i was too in and out of it with the baseball game last night to give a good account of it. The Comedians was excellent. and lastly, Lip Sync Battle was pretty damn funny once again:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW. i'll probably watch that after the hockey game.

before my day got draining as hell, i was able to listen to this podcast:
definitely a must listen. check it out on notsam.com, iTunes, Stitcher, or the right hand side of this blog. and congrats to Sam on his show getting picked up daily on Sirius/XM and for his appearance on the Stone Cold Steve Austin podcast. i'm really happy that Sam is starting to blow up. he's paid his dues, that's for sure.

a quick music break before i describe my driving hell today:

mom decided she felt good enough to go into work today. she then decided she might as well head over to Value City to pick up the chair they didn't bring to the house. and since we had books to go to the used bookstore over there, fuck it, i'll drive. we first go to the hospital. that took way longer than it should have. mostly because mom isn't in good enough condition to constantly be on the go and women just love to talk, especially when one is in a hurry. after we finally got out of there, we went out to eat. that was better than i expected. plus, the waitress might have sparked a poem, so that's a plus. we went to the bookstore next. 3 boxes of books and magazines. my grand total for selling them: $6. that almost covers the gas to go across the county. oh well, that's more shit out of the garage. and then, off to Value City Furniture. after finding out where to go to pick up the furniture, we hit the bell. and then hit it again. finally after the 3rd time of hitting the bell, someone came to the window. we waited another 20 minutes for them to bring the chair out. now the kicker to the story, it's not put together. apparently, if you pick the furniture up, they give it to you in pieces. well, needless to say mom was fucking furious. the customer service lady offered to put it together. of course, by then we were 15 minutes away from the store. in rush hour traffic. so, guess who gets to put that together... good times. we had to go to the grocery store after that to return some lights and pick up some prescriptions. so, once again, another afternoon where i didn't take a nap.

i will be fucking spent by the end of this evening.

that is all for me. i hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. enjoy the warmer weather and hopefully some skies full of sun and not rain.

i forgot to take a nap today

i typed up a poem i wrote a few days ago this morning. i liked it and thought what the fuck, this might as well be poetry day. so, i got some submissions together and then spent most of the afternoon typing up emails and sending them. of course, this was during when i usually take a nap. so, i tried to do my best checking of my shit while yawning. i figure i probably fucked up along the way somewhere. i sent out 17 poems today, 5 to Horror Sleaze Trash and 3 each to The Camel Saloon, Napalm and Novocain, Dead Snakes and Pyrokinection. when i hear back from these places i'll pass along the verdicts.

i also got the first of my shipments from amazon.com today. i decided while buying mom's birthday gift, i might as well use the rest of the gift cards i had at amazon on some of the music i have missed. so, that was what was playing while the typing was going on today. good timing actually by the postal service on that one.

a quick music break before we get this show on the road:

the New York Yankees finished off their sweep of Kansas City yesterday, winning 4-2. Alex Rodriguez hit a big HR for the winning runs and continues to have a pretty fucking surprising season. they are back in first place in the division. they are on the west coast for a road trip starting tonight. i guess i'll be up late tonight.

my uncle came over yesterday while the game was on. he wanted to see the new furniture. we got "most" of what we ordered. one chair for the kitchen wasn't on the truck. i think mom and i are going to pick that up ourselves this weekend probably. my uncle liked the furniture and watched some of the game with mom and me. i think he just wanted to get away from his wife. i don't mind him coming over. if it gets more than that, it's off to my room.

the wrestling last night was excellent. NXT made me personally mark out when this match happened:
3 of my favorite independent wrestlers of all-time if you include the referee. that was a nice little moment out of nowhere. as usual with NXT, another great show.

Lucha Underground was spectacular once again last night. great moves and yet another HOLY SHIT spot fest. some of the best matches on television anywhere. enjoy the highlights:

the NBA Finals are now set. whoever wins this one will be getting their first title in a long, long time. Cleveland vs. Golden State. it should be a fun series to watch. plenty of small ball, running the court, shooting the 3, etc, etc. i wouldn't mind if it went for a good 6 or 7 games.

both NHL conference finals are going to 7 games. that's the first time that has happened in 15 years. hopefully the Rangers find a way to win another Game 7 tomorrow night.

tonight i'll have the DVR busy. all on at about the same time: The Comedians, Louie, Lip Sync Battle, and i believe FX is going to have the latest Louie C.K. comedy special on after the season finale of Louie. i'll definitely have to check that out.

mom and i went to the grocery store yesterday. we both noticed her car was making some weird sounds. figures, i thought, since it will be mine before too long. she took it in today and it was the back left brake fucking up. she just had the front brakes done last week. let's just say she's not a happy camper at the moment. as for the grocery store, not sure if i'm going to get any poems out of it. but, i did get some decent ice cream, so that will do.

that's all for me today. i will be on here tomorrow long before i get over hyped for Game 7.

flip the damn switch

i don't know what is, but the New York Rangers are a completely different animal when facing elimination. i was confident last night, but cautious. by the end of the game, i was fully convinced that this is the year.

the Rangers started off strong, scoring first. it was also the first of three goals for Derick Brassard:
the King was back to being THE KING:
the Rangers exploded in the 3rd period to take a 2-1 game they were barely winning into a 7-3 convincing defeat. yet another series for the Rangers that is 3-3. given their record in elimination games and Game 7's at home, i think i will go with the goalie that is on the verge of setting the NHL record for Game 7 wins. that game comes on Friday. i have no doubts that MSG will be the loudest building on earth that night. enjoy some highlights:

to double my pleasure last night, the New York Yankees got some strong pitching and got some timely hitting to win 5-1. this afternoon they go for the sweep against one of the best teams in baseball. such a crazy damn sport.

as you might imagine, i was feeling pretty damn good after two victory beers.

had some weather roll through the area yesterday. kind of eerie, the place that mom and i were at over the weekend got hit with a tornado. i'm starting to think maybe it's me. we just got some rain here.

Deadliest Catch was good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Lucha Underground as it is on the same time as NXT is on the WWE Network. and seeing that the Yankees play this afternoon, tonight is going to be pro wrestling and some playoff basketball and hockey.

speaking of playoff basketball, i did watch a little of the Cavs sweeping the Hawks last night:
if LeBron leads Cleveland to winning a championship, you might as well name the fucking city after him. if you ever wanted to see what it would look like to see someone treated like an actual deity, we are 4 Cleveland wins away from seeing it.

the lawn company treated the grass this morning, so i'm happy i fed the birds yesterday. hopefully the new furniture gets here before the next round of thunderstorms are supposed to start.

that's all for me kids. i actually got a shower in early this morning, so i'm feeling pretty good at the moment. i'm sure once the rain gets closer, or the Yankees start losing, that will all change.

waiting on a storm

my right foot started hurting last night. that was the first sign i got that there was rain coming. i looked at the weather forecast and it said to expect heavy thunderstorms. great. well, i guess i'll get to see how the new house does in a storm. at this very moment, i just wish it would fucking rain already as my body is aching like a motherfucker. good times.

i heard back from Michael at Carcinogenic Poetry on my poetry submission from last month. he has decided to pass. that adds 5 more to the pile for the next round of submissions.

i turned in the po box keys today. that will certainly feel weird not to have that on my key chain any longer.

got some FREE music on NoiseTrade and iTunes today. i'll provide a link down in the music section.

the New York Yankees broke out the bats yesterday and beat the living shit out of Kansas City, 14-1. that made for a decent Memorial Day. they play again tonight.

Monday Night Raw was ok and that is truly being generous. if it wasn't for Kevin Owens destroying John Cena again, i would have truly hated this show.

on the DVR tonight will be Deadliest Catch.

on at the same time will be a MUST WIN for the New York Rangers. they have a great record in elimination games. but those games weren't played against a team that has a top notch scorer on just about every fucking line. hopefully the boys win tonight and force Game 7.

a quick music break:

i heard from my good friend in California yesterday. she sounded like she's doing well.

i think i almost got 6 hours of sleep last night. that feels like a damn eternity to me. probably explains why i have been tired all damn day.

i did get a free book in the mail today. that almost makes up for not being the right caller to win Rolling Stones tickets. almost.

that's all for me today. i will be on here tomorrow, most likely in the morning as the Yankees play tomorrow afternoon. plus, i think the new furniture will probably come in the afternoon as well.

hope everyone enjoyed Memorial Day. if not, i suggest getting better memories.

memorial day in the rain

first off, a happy Memorial Day to everyone. thank you for your service to this country.

yesterday started off pretty good for me. Manchester United played against a Hull team that had to win. so, for the final score to be 0-0 i was pleased but also sad. i didn't want to see Steve Bruce get relegated. but, shit happens. and considering everyone that was playing in a game that United had no desire to play, a clean sheet was a welcome sight. that certainly was a nice audition by Victor Valdes for next season. even though the team finished in the top 4, this summer is going to be pivotal to actually win some titles next season.

next up was the Indianapolis 500. i am a huge Juan Pablo Montoya fan. i have been since the Formula 1 days. so, to watch him win his second 500 15 years after his first one was beautiful. that was one sweet victory beer:

little did i know, that was going to be the high for the day.

the New York Rangers got beat at their own game last night. Tampa played the perfect road game and won 2-0. so, now it's do or die time for the Rangers. Game 6 is Tuesday in Tampa. as much as i want to believe they can pull it off again with their backs against the wall, i have my doubts. but, like any suffering fool, i'll be watching.

the New York Yankees lost again last night, 5-2. the only thing i liked of the game was seeing the old faces at the Bernie Williams retirement ceremony:
they play again today against Kansas City. i have no clue when all this fucking losing is going to end.

as i'm watching that i'll probably also watch a little of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse championship. i believe it's Denver vs. Maryland.

i did watch a good portion of the basketball game last night. even after all these years, i'm still amazed at what LeBron can do:

the Sunday night shows were excellent. i watched most of them this morning. Nurse Jackie was great. Happyish was hilarious in a creepy way. Penny Dreadful was fucking brilliant. Silicon Valley was hilarious. and finally, Veep was pretty funny.

tonight on the television will be Monday Night Raw and god knows what else. i'm probably going to spend some time tonight writing and getting some submissions ready.

that and moving furniture around, helping mom. given the weather today, windy and rainy, i'm not going to have much fun today. my body is already aching from helping move the first two pieces of furniture. good times.

that's really all for me. hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. and hopefully, everyone enjoys today.

driving to nowhere and almost liking it

yesterday, mom and i left the house sometime before 11 AM. we got back home around 6 PM. here's a little story of what happened.

i had to drive mom to the bank to deposit some checks. it will be nice when she stops using this bank when the farm is finally not ours anymore. it's so damn out of the way. after that, i drove for about 20 minutes and got to this bird store where the rich people live. we were hunting for something to combat the squirrels. hopefully what we got works. after that, the used music/movies/odd shit store was just across the street. we went in there and they just happened to have a buy 3 used get 2 used FREE CD sale. so, you'll see what 5 i bought in the music section. after that, it was time for lunch. since i haven't driven in this area regularly for over a decade (what a beautiful relationship that was), i was sort of relying on mom. she of course is starting to forget where shit is anymore. so, we just kept driving and all of a sudden, we're at The Greene. The Greene is this snobby shopping center on the other side of the county from where i live. i believe it was built about a decade ago. yesterday was my first visit. we took a chance on this bar and bistro called Crazy Mango. amazingly, the food was great. the fried mushrooms were fucking amazing. and the pizza was very good as well. all in all, not bad. if i'm ever in the area again, i'd go again. after that, mom decided she was going to spend some money. i believe this is the direct result of her visiting her financial planner the day before. let's just say after a visit to the furniture store, we will have a new looking living room in a few days. but, i got a sweet ass tic-tac-toe shot glass set, so i didn't mind all the walking. after that, we went to the dollar store and found some penny wrappers for me and i bought some baseball cards as well. i figured fuck it, why not. i actually got some decent cards in the 25 i bought. not that i know shit about any of that anymore, but at least i knew some of the names. after that, we drove back home, probably about a 45 minute drive. to say both of us were spent would be an understatement. mom went next door to see her brother and i tried on the clothes she got me that came in the mail. amazingly, they all fit pretty good. god knows i needed some new socks. and another pair of jeans.

i watched NJPW and ROH when i got home yesterday. both episodes were great.

also, while listening to the music i got, i wrote 2 new poems. i typed those up last night after the hockey game got over. 2 more good ones. hopefully, i crank out a few more over this holiday weekend.

while we were driving home, i asked mom to check on the Yankees score. when the first words out of her mouth was oh god, i knew it wouldn't be good. when she told me they lost 15-4 i was so damn happy that i didn't sit at home and watch that shit. tonight, i'll watch the ceremony retiring Bernie Williams number, but after that, hopefully, nothing else.

now a quick music break before we get to the rest of this busy ass day:

Manchester United plays Hull today. Hull must win to not get relegated. their coach is a Manchester United legend. to say i'm a little torn today would be right on the money. i have no clue what is going to happen.

there is a ton of racing on today. i imagine i'll watch plenty of that. hopefully my racing favorite, Juan Pablo Montoya, wins the 500 today. that would be a sweet victory beer.

after all that, the New York Rangers play a pivotal Game 5 tonight against Tampa. hopefully the last game provided the game plan to winning this series.

amazingly, most of the Sunday night shows are new tonight. so, the DVR will be busy. i suppose either late tonight or tomorrow morning, i'll watch all of this: Nurse Jackie, Happyish, Penny Dreadful, Silicon Valley and Veep.

hopefully i will finish tonight off with a few drinks, typing up a few poems.

that is how i would prefer to spend this holiday weekend. i figure what will actually happen, i'll spend most of today moving shit around in the living room so it will be ready for the new furniture. good times. glad mom waited for everything to be set up to then change her mind on how she wanted the room to look. i would fear for the world if i didn't happen to be a very patient man.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a great Saturday. the weather here the last 36 hours or so has been spectacular. hopefully it is where you are as well. enjoy the day.

ye of little faith

i settled in for the New York Rangers game expecting the worst. thankfully, the exact opposite happened. The King stopped 38 of 39 shots. and two fuckers who have mostly been absent from the playoffs FINALLY showed up:
another big game from Keith Yandle and Chris Kreider and we're going back to New York all tied up at 2. it's now a best of 3 series. and let me just say, a victory beer after a 5-1 win in the playoffs taste so damn sweet. enjoy the highlights:
the pivotal Game 5 is Sunday night at MSG.

the Yankees got down 7-0 early last night. figures, they had their best pitcher on the mound. so, as usual, the offense exploded for 9 runs in the game. the problem was the pitching and shitty defense allowed Texas to score 10. and there are no damn moral victories in sports. that's 4 losses in a row and i'm pretty sure they are no longer in first place. they play again this afternoon. there's a good chance i'll be out with mom shopping. that's how much i don't like this team at the moment. i'd rather be out in public with people.

i did watch a little of the basketball game last night. i'm kind of shocked that LeBron has Cleveland 2 wins away from the NBA Finals. given the amount of injuries the team has, it's more or less him and a bunch of role players. if he pulls a championship off with this team, i don't think anyone can doubt how great he truly is then.

mom and i are going out to take advantage of some of these Memorial Day weekend sales. just basic shit for the house, for the birds, etc. plus, i think she wants to start cleaning out the garage this weekend. oh joy.

on the DVR today will be ROH. it should be another great episode. and i believe i will be able to watch it this afternoon. that would make it great. i might actually get to sleep tonight.

i will probably be on here tomorrow morning before Manchester United plays. if not, expect my lazy ass to show up in the afternoon.

hope everyone has a great Saturday. enjoy the weather. enjoy the sales. enjoy a cool drink or whatever your vice happens to be.

it figures, the sun comes out and i have a headache that keeps me in bed for most of the day. maybe my father put some voodoo hex on me before he died.

the shower didn't exactly help yesterday. it's so much fun when you get in the shower and your bone spurs start going nuts. just a bundle of fucking joy there.

tv last night was ok. i thought The Comedians was really funny. Louie was really good. Lip Sync Battle wasn't as good as the previous episodes, though it did make me laugh:

i'm trying the reverse psychology tonight with the New York Rangers. i'm wearing no Rangers items at all. hopefully, that and some better team play will help them get a win and tie this series up at 2. if they don't win tonight, i'm guessing the series will be over on Sunday.

the New York Yankees play at home tonight against Texas. i have no clue what to expect with this team. if it's like the last few games, they will get great pitching and the offense won't do shit.

i got some great music on NoiseTrade today for FREE. i highly urge you to check it out. i'll provide the link below in the music section and here is a sample of it:

i caught up on the last two episodes of Brew Dogs this afternoon. all that did was make me really want some craft beer.

other than the games tonight, i have no damn clue what else is on television. i suppose if i get pissy, i'll switch over to the Food Network or something.

here's a little comedy for you:

i hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. this will be a nice big test for me if the family decides they want to do shit next door for Memorial Day. damn good thing my bedroom door has a lock on it.

if you're drinking, please drink until you're blind. if you are the designated driver, drink water. soda fucking kills you genius. and if you are doing any drugs this weekend, my address is on the right hand side of this blog.

response from Pink Litter

i heard back from Misty at Pink Litter on my poetry submission from last July. my poems "my second brain", "mail me your panties" and "in the parking lot of a local restaurant" have been accepted for publication in a future issue.

still no sunshine...

i was all ready last night. i had a very good dinner. the Yankees had a lead. i had a "new" lucky t-shirt on. i was all set up to watch the New York Rangers show that Game 2 was just a blip. well, so much for that.

the Rangers got off to a 2 goal lead. they promptly gave up the next 4. they came back to tie it at 4. gave up another one. and then tied it again late in the 3rd period. 5-5 going to overtime. and sure enough, i flip back to the game in time to see Tampa win in OT 6-5. not exactly sure where the best defense in the playoffs has gone to. i got the feeling that they thought they could out run and gun Tampa. i would agree with that theory if Rick Nash was scoring goals, let alone all the other fuckers on the team that have done nothing. i'll go ahead and say that Game 4 on Friday is a MUST WIN situation. there's no fucking chance in hell they are coming back from being down 3-1 in this series.

by the way, the Yankees blew their lead and lost 3-2. they are off again tonight. they play at home on Friday against Texas.

thankfully, the wrestling last night was excellent. Lucha Underground had another solid show with a true HOLY SHIT moment. enjoy the highlights:

NXT Takeover: Unstoppable was good and then HOLY SHIT great. here's how it started:
a couple of solid matches later and then the ladies stole the show:
and then a brutal (in a good way) main event that had a nice holy shit moment at the end:
as i have seen stated all over the place, having Samoa Joe in NXT is a game changer. he is one of the best workers of ALL time. and to dream of the matches he could have with some of the wrestlers down there is mind boggling. after watching the show i can completely understand why so many guys on the main roster are a bit jealous of just how damn good the product is down at NXT. last night was easily worth the $9.99 a month.

thankfully, i was able to watch all of David Letterman's final show. i was happy that the show went out with a unforgettable last show. here are some of the numerous highlights as i think the show went nearly 30 minutes longer than normal:
what an amazing show. good thing i taped the two shows after it so i got all of the final show. it is certainly something i will never forget. hopefully everyone involved in the show understands how important the show was to all of us. it will be missed.

i probably didn't get to bed until around 3 in the morning. so, of course i would be up at 7:30. i suppose i'll catch up on my sleep when i die. but, while i was up today i typed up those 6 poems. my gut feeling was correct, i've got some winners in this batch. always a good sign when i pulled a dead father memory out of my head from back when i was 9 years old. i got a feeling i'll be writing about all that shit for years on end. hopefully i will crank a few more poems out over the holiday weekend and then get some submissions ready for June.

on the DVR tonight will be Lip Sync Battle, The Comedians and Louie.

that's all for me today. i'm going to go try to ease my aching bones in a hot shower. and if that doesn't work, i always have a shotgun.

no need to panic. my arms aren't long enough.

creativity strikes me right between the eyes

in my sophisticated white trash upbringing, one of the phrases i would always hear about would be about a wild hair getting up your ass. i suppose, you could say that happened to me today. i turned on some music, poured myself a glass of lemonade and went to an extremely dark place in my head. 20 minutes later i had 6 poems written. i haven't typed any up yet, just in case something else pops into my head. but, after reading a few of them, i think i may have some really great shit on my hands. now there's a visual. hopefully i bang out a few more of them by the weekend.

the New York Yankees pissed away a 6-2 lead last night to lose 8-6 in extra innings. they play again tonight in Washington to hopefully split the series. there's little to no chance i'll watch any of the game.

The Voice went exactly as i expected it to last night. i even got the order of the top 4 correct this year. i really wanted Meghan to win, but i know that the housewives look at Sawyer as fresh meat. i might like him more once his voice gets a little bass in it.

Deadliest Catch last night was great and sad at the same time. heroin addiction is one of the worst things on earth. and to see it played out like that on television was pretty riveting and sad.

David Letterman had a fucking great show last night. first, you can never have a better guest than Bill Murray:

and then end it with something magical and strange:

i can't wait to see what happens tonight on the final show. i'm sure i will laugh as much as i cry. i've been a Letterman fan since i stayed up WAY past my bed time to watch him when i was like 7 or 8 years old. that's over 30 years. and i know some of my crazy sense of humor comes from Dave. hopefully the final show tonight is a classic.

tonight is a true clusterfuck for me on television. all at the same time: New York Rangers play Game 3 down in Tampa, a new episode of Lucha Underground (thank god i have a DVR now) AND NXT: Takeover Unstoppable on the WWE Network. i will probably have to watch wrestling later in the night due to the hockey. of course, if the Rangers play like shit once again and take stupid penalty after stupid penalty, i'll gladly switch over to the wrestling.

speaking of wrestling, i urge everyone to check out this podcast when you get a chance:
listen on iTunes, Stitcher, the RSS you can find on the right hand side of this blog, or at notsam.com. it is a fascinating interview with my favorite wrestler of the last decade.

here's some comedy for you on a fucking gloomy day:

and in case if that wasn't enough videos for you:

the Sacramento Kings will be picking 6th in the NBA Draft this year. at least they didn't get shifted down like most years. and this is going to be a deep draft. they should be able to get someone that will help immediately at number 6.

that's all for me today. i don't think the sun has come out at all today. good times.

not the night i was hoping for

the New York Rangers played the worst game i have watched them play in probably 7 months or so last night. every chance they had to do something good they would fuck it up. they are the only fucking team i know that can turn a 5 on 3 power play into a goal for the other team. and they took way too many fucking penalties. the only good thing that came from last night? losing 6-2 finally ends that damn 1 goal game streak they were on. and getting humbled that way at home hopefully brings out the team that had the most road victories in the NHL this season when they play Game 3 down in Tampa. for some fucking reason, The King stinks in Game 2's.

the only thing that cheered me up last night was this:
talk about a holy shit moment. i have watched Kevin's career for like the past decade or so. i was so happy for him last night. and to know that he will be facing John Cena in 2 weeks... god i hope he beats the living hell out of Cena and takes the title. Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. the future of pro wrestling, Dean Ambrose, played a major role in the success of the show:
plus, the male soap opera part was played well once again:
Dolph has always been one lucky fucker. if him and Rusev feuds, that should be a great one. all in all, not a bad show.

sadly, since the hockey stunk last night, i watched most of Raw as it was happening. and i was so pissed by the Rangers game that i stayed up and made sure to watch The Voice last night before i went to bed.

i thought all the performances last night on The Voice were very good. but, ultimately, i think it will be this one that wins it all:
unless there is another shocker like last season, i think Sawyer has this one in the bag. the winner will be announced tonight.

on the DVR tonight will be Deadliest Catch.

David Letterman had another great show last night. it will be really fucking strange to not see him anymore on television:
tonight will be Bill Murray and Bob Dylan. the DVR will be recording.

here's some more from last night:

the New York Yankees play at Washington tonight. i'm not looking forward to it.

the NBA Draft Lottery is tonight. hopefully the Sacramento Kings can somehow slip into the top 3. i would love to see that happen. god knows, they are due for some good luck by now.

got some free music on iTunes today. i also picked up the new single from Slayer. much better than i thought it was going to be.

mom and i are going to go to the grocery store here in a little bit. we're at the point where the fridge is getting a little too empty. and hopefully my creative juices get flowing again. i need to really start cranking out the poems again.

while on that topic, i sent 6 poems out today to ZYX. when i hear back from Arnold on those, i'll pass on the verdict.

i'm still trying to get used to having neighbors again. i can't remember living in a neighborhood where everyone cut their fucking lawns like every 3 days. it's annoying as all hell. we also have 2 ducks that have been keeping in the shade underneath our tree in the front. they were in the back this morning when i was feeding the birds. i threw them some sunflower seeds. i figure better they get them than the damn squirrels. so, of course, it's still a fucking zoo here, just no cats or deer. so far.

that's all for me today. hope this finds everyone with a pulse.

trying to break through the clouds...

the skies have looked like it was going to rain buckets all day long. so far, that hasn't happened. but, i would prefer it just fucking rain already and move on. at this point of my life, arthritis = misery.

the ppv last night from the WWE was pretty good. i wished they went a different direction for a few of the outcomes, but other than that, i thought it was a good show. one moment that certainly got my juices going was this:
that was part of the main event. between that and the I Quit match, i think it was very good. the only other match that really caught my eye was this one:
i thought both Ryback and Bray Wyatt looked really good in this match.

i don't know how much of Monday Night Raw i'm going to watch tonight. given that the hockey game and the finals of The Voice will be on that the same time, there's a good chance it's going to end up on the DVR for tomorrow afternoon.

the Sunday night shows were great. Nurse Jackie was good. Happyish is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Penny Dreadful was a great and dark. it was a flashback episode that i'm sure is going to provide all the clues for the next shows. Silicon Valley was great. Veep was good. and finally, Last Week Tonight hit another home run:

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 6-0. thankfully, they are off today before they start a quick two game series in Washington on Tuesday.

the New York Rangers play Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight. i'm hoping they can continue on the roll they are on. i'm expecting tonight's game to be tougher than Game 1.

i'm hoping the performances on The Voice tonight are amazing. i really would love to see Meghan win but i'm pretty damn sure that Sawyer is going to win it.

also on the DVR tonight will be the Late Show with David Letterman. tonight starts the final 3 shows so i figure i better record all of those and keep them for as long as i can.

i did a little poetry work this afternoon. i want to make sure i get some new poems to ZYX so i can also make sure Arnold has my new address.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a great weekend.

and then suddenly, i feel like i'm 80 years old

i noticed yesterday my left hand was killing me. ice didn't help at all. that is when i immediately thought of my grandmother and her gnarly hands she had. the joys of arthritis. and i can just imagine my luck seeing that i'm a writer and sort of need both hands to type shit up. of course, i can hunt and peck like a motherfucker. but having to sit forever to type shit isn't exactly good for someone with a history of blood clots. good times.

Manchester United more or less cemented themselves in 4th place for this season with the 1-1 draw with Arsenal today. that means they will have to go through a playoff in August to actually make the Champions League. and judging from today's game, it looks like it is going to be another busy summer with the obvious need for more and better players.

the New York Yankees got some great pitching from CC last night and the offense finally showed up. that ended a 4 game losing streak. they will hopefully win the series when they play again this afternoon:

the New York Rangers had a dominant first period yesterday. of course, they didn't score. the second period was more even right until the last few seconds:
that helped ease my mind greatly as Tampa's goalie has owned us over the years. Tampa ties in the game in the 3rd with a power play goal. that will be key in this series. the Rangers have to keep out of the box. fast forward to under 3 minutes left in the 3rd and what happens when you just get the puck on goal:
the Rangers held on from there for a 2-1 win. they go up 1-0 in the series. it also marks the first time they beat Tampa this season. and also the first time they have ever beaten Ben Bishop. that was a tasty victory beer after that one. enjoy some highlights:
Game 2 is Monday night. so much for watching The Voice finals live.

i will watch ROH from last night later this afternoon. i caught bits and pieces while watching Saturday Night Live last night. but since i will spend most of this evening watching pro wrestling, i might as well get in the mood early.

as for Saturday Night Live, i thought it was pretty damn funny. i love Louis C.K. and his willingness to talk about shit that makes people uncomfortable. go on YouTube and see what i'm talking about.

tonight i'll be watching WWE Payback on the WWE Network. i figure if i'm paying for the network, i might as well watch it. i don't have any high hopes for this one, so hopefully it's much better than i fear. that means on the DVR tonight will be Nurse Jackie, Happyish, Penny Dreadful, Silicon Valley, Veep, and Last Week Tonight. chances are i'll watch some of them after the wrestling goes off. if not, i'm going to have a busy Monday afternoon.

that's pretty much all for me today. these old bones are going to spend some time in the shower and maybe get a nap in before a long night in front of the television.

hope everyone is having a better weekend than i am.

8 wins to go...

i love this time of year. wake up early in the morning, put on the "lucky" t-shirt, eat the same breakfast as the last game, etc, etc. the playoffs are great. they are much better when "your" team is winning. they are torture when you are superstitious. but, as i learned a long time ago, find the pleasure in the pain.

the New York Rangers start the Eastern Conference finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning this afternoon. i'd love to win game 1 for a number of reasons. the Rangers have never beaten Tampa's goalie. the Rangers didn't beat Tampa at all this regular season. a win would go a long way to removing any doubt they had that they can return to the Stanley Cup Final this season. the Rangers are the odds on favorite in Vegas to do it. hopefully this is yet another time where Vegas is right on the money.

it's sort of gloomy and rainy here today. just what these old bones needed.

the New York Yankees got their asses handed to them last night 12-1. and that was with their best pitcher on the mound. thank god i didn't watch much of the game. they try to end the losing streak tonight, weather permitting.

i did catch the latest episode of VICE last night on HBO. it amazes me at the amount of ignorance that exists in the world.

here's some late night laughs for you:

and since the pain i'm in reminds me how much i could use some drugs at the moment, i'll simply do the next best thing:
that's better

after the hockey game today, i'm probably going to watch the horse race. if i don't, that's because i am at the grocery store. i do know i will be watching the season finale of Saturday Night Live tonight. Louis C.K. is hosting and Rihanna is performing. that should be good. also tonight will be a new episode of ROH and an old episode of Austin City Limits with Bon Iver. those two will be on my DVR.

i'm going to guess that i will be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays Arsenal. and hopefully the boys will have me in a good mood.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

let the storm clouds roll in...

i woke up this morning to the news that B.B. King had died. not exactly how i would like to start a Friday morning. blues music is one of the things that has allowed me to escape this world as much as anything on this fucking planet. so, as you might imagine, i've been listening to a ton of music today:

and since i was in such a great mood, i typed up the three poems i needed to this afternoon. i think they are pretty good and honest but i'm a little biased. i have no clue when i will send them out. maybe closer to Father's Day. i'm sure someone will be looking for dead dad poems around that time.

mom and i went over to the farm today for the first time since it was sold. there was still 8 cats that were there. they followed me around, just knowing i had some food for them. imagine their surprise when i didn't. they have to be eating something. of course, last time i was there there was 15 cats.

after that we had lunch at Waffle House. i only recommend this if you just happen to need a huge amount of grease in your belly at the moment.

the New York Yankees lost again last night, 6-1. i didn't bother to watch much of the game. after they got behind big early and had yet another injury to a pitcher, i decided i'd just watch basketball instead. the Yankees play tonight in Kansas City. not exactly the best place to try to end a losing streak.

thankfully, the shows last night were good. The Comedians was pretty funny. Louie was a fucking riot. and once again, Lip Sync Battle was way better than it should have been:

i watched all of Late Show with David Letterman last night. it was great:
try to not have that song stuck in your head for the rest of your life.

here's some more funny shit from last night:

as you might imagine, i didn't sleep much last night. plus, add in this damn weather and i'm pretty much just a cranky bastard at the moment.

i have no clue what i'm going to watch tonight. this might be the night to catch up on the DVR.

i'll probably be on here in the morning tomorrow. Saturday is going to be another busy one. between the NHL playoffs, horse racing, soccer and god knows what else... the morning will be the only time i won't be busier than nine cats covering up shit in a wind storm.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. only fuck the ones that cough.

i'll probably die one day because of this

if you didn't watch Game 7 last night, you missed out on a great conclusion to one of the better playoff series in the last decade or so. here's a long winded recap of the game:
so The King started off strong:
then, of course, Ovechkin scored to give Washington a 1-0 lead. that would last until the second period when this happened:
and just so everyone knew this was a real hockey game:
the 1-1 score stayed the same for all of the 3rd period and the first 10 minutes of overtime. Washington had a ton of chances in those 10 minutes, but The King was standing on his head tonight. and then, ecstasy:
from the Canadian broadcast:
and then every New York Rangers fan, including this one, could be like this:
watch as Mr. Guarantee (Ovechkin) tries to get through the handshake line as fast as possible:
what a fucking win. the Rangers become the first NHL team EVER to come back from 3-1 deficits in the playoffs in consecutive years. that is also their 14th straight one goal game in the playoffs. also, first time the Rangers scored a Game 7 OT goal since 1994 (the last year they won the Stanley Cup). here's some more highlights from the game:
they will play Tampa in the Eastern Conference Finals starting on Saturday afternoon.

after that game, i broke out the hard shit. a couple ice cubes, some whiskey, some cola and laughing while watching Capitals players cry. i know that makes me an evil prick, but i'm not afraid of that label, so i might as well fucking enjoy it.

the New York Yankees started off strong again last night. got some more decent pitching, but once again, forgot that they have to score more than just in the first inning. 3-2 loss to Tampa. they will look to split the series tonight.

amazingly, i also caught NXT and Lucha Underground last night. both episodes were good. here's a couple of clips:
it's amazing at how much i enjoy both of these shows more than i do Monday Night Raw most weeks.

here's some late night laughs to clean your pallet:

as for tonight, i guess i'll watch some playoff basketball and then Lip Sync Battle, The Comedians, and Louie. plus, i believe Tom Waits is supposed to be on Letterman tonight, so i'll definitely be watching that. that might end up on the DVR as well.

i was home alone for most of the day but i was so damn spent from last night, i didn't do much of anything. i broke out the vacuum, fed the birds and repaired one of the solar lights. duct tape, my old friend. other than that, read the paper and watched porn. good times.

here's some more laughs for you:

not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i believe my sister is coming down tonight before she goes on vacation. not like i'm in the loop with what actually goes on with this family.

maybe tomorrow i'll type up some poems. that sounds like a plan.

hope this finds everyone in good spirits. unless you happen to live in Washington D.C., which had one of the worst sports nights last night in a long time. (they deserve it.)
