now i think i might not even sleep when i'm dead...

i might have got to sleep around 4 in the morning. i was back up at 8. it's not quite insomnia anymore. it's the morose nature of this existence in the winter. the hours seem endless and my brain simply has no desire to shut off. add in a good four or five hundred words i had to get off my chest with a former (maybe still, maybe not, who the fuck knows) friend. last night was one of those where there was no fucking way i was going to get anything resembling good sleep.

the New York Rangers had a good first period last night. that was about where all the good stopped. the Rangers lost last night at Tampa Bay 6-3. oh well.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night, especially the ending.

the Vice News Special Report last night about the untold stories of the 2008 financial collapse was very, very interesting. it would be even better if the dumb fucks in this country would actually understand how close we were to a great depression again and how much of the money given has already been paid back with interest. instead, these dumb fucks went and elected an asshole New York con man and thought he was going to save them. idiots.

The Voice was really good last night. i have no damn clue which 4 are going to make the finals tonight. i figure someone i really like is going to make it and someone else is going to get cut. all 8 have real talent.

i did watch a little of the Monday Night Football game last night between Minnesota and Seattle.

it was also good to see the Sacramento Kings win last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown and The Voice.

a big thank you to Jonathan Hayes for sending me a copy of his new book of poems, A Full Moon in Santa Cruz. it was an excellent, quick read.

i'll be on here tomorrow after i take mom to get her MRI on her back. of course, that is scheduled at the same time that Manchester United will be playing in the Champions League.

i better get going and try to get the trash done before it gets dark.

i hope everyone had a good day. until next time kids...

playing a losing game...

i have noticed on the nights i do get to drink, the alcohol in the glass is getting higher and higher. i know my father had the alcoholic gene, as did probably all of his fathers before him, so i know my future. i suppose i'm simply trying to fool myself into thinking i'm being responsible about it all. whatever. before long i'll be the drunk writing on my back porch, bitching about the kids to stay off my fucking lawn.

i did write a couple poems this morning. i typed up those two and the one from the other day this afternoon. i think they are pretty good. i'm thinking i might really go through the unpublished file again and try to find some hidden gems. i do plan another round of submissions before August ends.

the New York Yankees pounded out 17 hits last night and beat Toronto 11-5. hopefully they still have some more left in those bats and win the series tonight.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade this morning. i highly recommend checking it out.
Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real - Find Yourself EP

Big Brother was pretty good last night. Jessica will get evicted tonight and hopefully there will be fireworks. of course, i won't be able to see the show until 2 in the morning because of preseason football. so i guess i will be following online.

Mr. Mercedes was fucking awesome last night. i think i am really going to enjoy this show.

Snowfall was excellent last night.

Lucha Underground was really good last night.

NXT was a little light on wrestling but did an excellent job selling just how good Takeover: Brooklyn could be this year.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother, Weekend Update and The Chris Gethard Show.

the reason Big Brother will be on later here is the game between the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints. hopefully the Saints win and don't have any injuries.

i believe today is mom's last physical therapy session for her hip. the hip has healed really good. the problem she has is her muscles in her right leg are so damn weak that she has problems doing the little things. i told her she might have to do a little electric stimulation on those muscles to help the process. but, what do i know...

i did listen to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. you can check that out by going here:

it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow.. hit or miss back to Summer showers i suppose. at some point, i know i need to hit the grocery store. i have pills to pick up for myself and mom. that's probably $100 right there.

i guess i should actually check the mailbox sometime before i take mom to her session. i guess i have spent most of the day here in my room. hello depression, my name is...

apparently, it's monsoon season

i swear, for the last few days, just about every couple of hours there's a new rainstorm coming through. not exactly the greatest thing for my arthritis. i somehow managed to "sleep" through the pain last night. of course, i paid for it when every joint in my body cracked with that first step this morning. good times.

Aaron Judge hit the longest home run i have ever seen hit in Seattle last night and the Yankees won again, 5-1. 2 wins in a row, holy shit. they will go for the series win tonight.

Big Brother went pretty much how i thought it would go last night. Cody is back in the house and i found out last night that Jessica, his girlfriend, is the new HOH. and since she won the last temptation, that pretty much means her and Cody are safe for the next month.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Vice Special Report: A World in Disarray was very good last night. it detailed how the Iraq war was a complete clusterfuck from the beginning and how Obama dropped the ball with regards to Syria. more or less, we planted the seeds to all of this chaos and now with old fuck face as President, it's time to reap. i figure if i'm still around in the next 30 years, i will see a nuclear war.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH and Risk.

i will be watching the USA take on Costa Rica tonight in the Gold Cup semifinals. if the USA want to get to the finals, they will have to earn it.

i might watch some UFC tonight as well.

mom surprised me last night when she did the dishes before i had a chance to do them. i hope that means that she is starting to feel better again. i made sure to put them away and do the dishes from last night's dinner this morning.

i get the feeling i may do a little writing today or napping between soccer matches. at least i got the grocery shopping done between storms.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

and here comes hell

so the wind has been blowing like it's the end of the world for most of the day so far. a massive cold front is supposed to come through tonight with the usual thunder, hail, possible tornadoes, you know, usual February shit. after it goes through, the temperatures will go from the 70's to the 30's. good times.

baseball is back. the New York Yankees won today over Philadelphia 9-4 in spring training. hopefully the Yankees will be better this season. and hopefully they stick with the youth movement.

my order from Amazon.com came today. thankfully the mailman didn't try to stuff it in the mailbox.

the New York Rangers won last night 2-1 over Toronto in a shootout. it was yet another come from behind road win for the boys. it truly was the battle of Swedish goalies last night. thankfully, The King came out on top. the Rangers play tomorrow at New Jersey.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty good last night.

Life in Pieces was pretty good as well.

Baskets was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice, NJPW and Real Time with Bill Maher.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at Davidson. it's on ESPN2, so i'm really hoping the storms stay away until after the game.

my bones are really starting to ache, so i know the storms are getting closer. it's such a joy being 41 and feeling like you are in your fucking 70's.

i did write 5 poems this morning. i typed them up earlier and i think a couple of them are really good. i will probably do another round of submissions before the month is over. i have a couple places in mind to send to.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i imagine mom will have me running somewhere to get something. my luck, it'll be snowing.

flip the damn switch

i don't know what is, but the New York Rangers are a completely different animal when facing elimination. i was confident last night, but cautious. by the end of the game, i was fully convinced that this is the year.

the Rangers started off strong, scoring first. it was also the first of three goals for Derick Brassard:
the King was back to being THE KING:
the Rangers exploded in the 3rd period to take a 2-1 game they were barely winning into a 7-3 convincing defeat. yet another series for the Rangers that is 3-3. given their record in elimination games and Game 7's at home, i think i will go with the goalie that is on the verge of setting the NHL record for Game 7 wins. that game comes on Friday. i have no doubts that MSG will be the loudest building on earth that night. enjoy some highlights:

to double my pleasure last night, the New York Yankees got some strong pitching and got some timely hitting to win 5-1. this afternoon they go for the sweep against one of the best teams in baseball. such a crazy damn sport.

as you might imagine, i was feeling pretty damn good after two victory beers.

had some weather roll through the area yesterday. kind of eerie, the place that mom and i were at over the weekend got hit with a tornado. i'm starting to think maybe it's me. we just got some rain here.

Deadliest Catch was good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Lucha Underground as it is on the same time as NXT is on the WWE Network. and seeing that the Yankees play this afternoon, tonight is going to be pro wrestling and some playoff basketball and hockey.

speaking of playoff basketball, i did watch a little of the Cavs sweeping the Hawks last night:
if LeBron leads Cleveland to winning a championship, you might as well name the fucking city after him. if you ever wanted to see what it would look like to see someone treated like an actual deity, we are 4 Cleveland wins away from seeing it.

the lawn company treated the grass this morning, so i'm happy i fed the birds yesterday. hopefully the new furniture gets here before the next round of thunderstorms are supposed to start.

that's all for me kids. i actually got a shower in early this morning, so i'm feeling pretty good at the moment. i'm sure once the rain gets closer, or the Yankees start losing, that will all change.

do the earth

anyone who immediately recognizes that the title to today's blog is my favorite Guided By Voices song is my new best friend.

welcome to the 22nd day of National Poetry Month. today, i'm shining a solar light on a great poet, friend, and just a cool fucking dude, Hosho McCreesh. Hosho is one of those dudes that does a little bit of everything. enjoy the links, BUY some things, and maybe make yourself a drink along the way.

and now a couple of videos:

i typed up the three poems about my father this morning. not sure when or if i'll be sending those out.

the New York Yankees got some great pitching once again last night and the offense decided to join in for a change. a good 5-2 win over a very good Tigers team. hopefully the Yankees can get a winning streak going again tonight. it won't be easy.

the New York Rangers go for a big 3-1 series lead tonight against the Penguins. hopefully the great road defense shows up again.

i was pretty happy with who got voted off The Voice last night. i think the best 8 performers are still on the show now. the competition will be pretty damn tough from here on out.

i haven't even got around to watching Deadliest Catch from last night. and since i have to take mom to the grocery store here in a little bit, i highly doubt i will get to watch it before the games tonight.

so, also on the DVR tonight will be Lucha Underground and i will have to hop on the WWE Network at some point to catch NXT.

Undateable was really fucking funny last night. that show is quickly becoming a guilty pleasure.

the weather has taken a turn back to winter today. the windchill makes it feel like it's in the 30's today. so much for spring.

for a little twist today, here's some music for you:

that's all for me today. i need to get ready to go to the grocery store and be the creepy fucker looking at hot women. good times.

ashy elbow Wednesday

much like i thought would happen, there i was at 2 in the morning, wide awake. i decided i would take the time to write some poems. i ended up writing 4 poems. i typed them up and a poem i wrote last week this afternoon. i really like all five. i think i will hold off on sending them out until the move is somewhat complete.

i guess we're waiting on the carpets to get cleaned and the painting to get done. that is supposed to happen by the weekend. if that does happen, i imagine all weekend will be spent moving some shit at least. i might be incommunicado for the weekend. i know mom wants to be mostly in the house by the time the phone/internet/Directv is installed. that will all be done by March 1st (fingers crossed). that also means that we have to go out and upgrade our televisions and etc, etc. i guess that Best Buy gift card i've held on to for a few years will finally come in handy.

we are currently under a wind chill warning. it is supposed to get to something like -30 or -40 over the next two nights. if the cats somehow survive that kind of cold, they simply will not die. i made sure to get out there before the warning went into effect today. the windchill was probably -15 or so. not fun.

i've been waiting to do the dishes until it got really fucking cold. my logic is that it will be good for the old pipes to have some hot water running through them when it's really cold. so, you can imagine what i'll be doing at some point tonight.

i highly recommend the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast with HBK. i also listened to Chris Jericho's latest podcast this morning while i was sitting next to the heater. as you might imagine, i'm looking forward to a house that isn't always fucking cold.

i'm really looking forward to Lucha Underground tonight. more and more people are catching on to just how good the show is.

after that, i'll probably watch some college basketball (Duke vs. North Carolina) and maybe some hockey. my fantasy hockey team had to be reshuffled in the last few days. fucking injuries. i'm still first in the league, thankfully.

a huge congrats to Don Donoher, former coach of the Dayton Flyers on his induction into the College Basketball Hall of Fame. long overdue.

i'll probably be on here early tomorrow as we have a basketball game to go to tomorrow evening. that should be fun. i'm guessing it will be below zero when we go to the game. hopefully it will be a sellout. that will warm things up. plus, Dayton is going for their 20th win of the season. i don't think many fans thought that was going to happen this season.

i hope everyone is good and warm. driving to the post office was certainly not a treat today. i can't wait until it is even colder tomorrow. as you can tell, winter is starting to get to me. hopefully it's not fucking with you. drinks up my friends. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

my balls are perfectly inflated...

this is the problem with the week between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. the never ending machine in this country has to find something to talk about. now, a part of me loves how awkward this is for the "real" media to be talking about balls, but another part of me is just fucking sick of it. did the Patriots cheat? yes, that's what they do. does every QB in the league try to get away with the same shit? yes, it's called being a professional. if you're not cheating, you're not trying. and i would love for the NFL to get this shit over with so this isn't the topic du jour come Super Bowl week. that way they can get to more important topics like what shampoo does Tom Brady use? what tips does Russell Wilson have for growing an ugly looking beard? how soon does Richard Sherman go off in the postgame press conference? you know, the real important shit.

i was in some pain last night. my left arm was driving me nuts. i figure with the weather systems changing here the next few days, i'm in for it. i took two pain pills to get some sleep last night. it worked, amazingly. i think i got almost 7 hours of sleep. that's like 3 days worth for me. of course, the arm still feels like shit.

i really just bounced around the channels last night. a little college basketball, some pro basketball, some pro wrestling, some home rehab shows, etc etc. tonight will be a different story.

i'll probably watch some of the NHL All-Star fantasy draft. i'd like to see who i'll be cheering on Sunday when i'm at the game. i'm also planning on watching the new episode of Treehouse Masters. and, i'll finally get to see NJPW on AXS TV. i love the Japanese style of pro wrestling. that should make for an eclectic evening.

first up for today is the Manchester United game in FA Cup action. they are playing a team they should beat. hopefully, they don't wait forever like the last round.

after that, i'm not sure if i'm going to the grocery store with my mother or not. i know i need to get my pills as i run out of one this evening. plus, we're running low on milk and bread. she's stubborn though, still wants to be independent. so, i might have to play the asshole son later on and force her to let me drive her. good times.

today marks 20 years exactly since i last saw my father. i'm pretty sure he still lives in the same county i do. i'm pretty sure he has for the entire 20 years. if you ever had to wonder why i hate the man... i got a good laugh in the paper the other day. one of the first names in the obituaries was James E. Campbell. my father's middle initial is M. i told my mother to look at it and realize just how close we were to one of the greatest days of my life.

and with that uplifting note, i bid everyone a great weekend. be safe. be drunk. have fun. only harm the ones that deserve it.

thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

marker food

we had a hard freeze last night. i guess winter has decided to set back in for the end of 2014 here. i put out a little extra bird food for the amazing number of birds that actually stay here in the winter. if they only knew i feed them so the cats will have a chance to kill them... speaking of the cats, they seem to be enjoying the limited amount of sunshine we're getting these days. even the young ones lay out in the yard when the sun is out. it almost made it to 30 degrees today. thankfully, no snow.

i completely forgot when i was writing my blog post for yesterday that i have a basketball game to go to tonight. the Dayton Flyers take on Ole Miss in their final non-conference game of the season. this should be another tough, interesting affair. hopefully i'm enjoying a victory beer later tonight.

the New York Rangers win streak came to an end last night. they lost in Dallas 3-2. oh well, shit happens. they play again on New Year's Eve in Florida. i'll be watching that game after i watch the USA take on Canada in the 2015 World Juniors.

i thought Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i really enjoyed the evil Seth Rollins. hopefully that's a side of him that comes out more often.
but the best part of the night to me was Daniel Bryan. the way he strung the crowd along and had them and every viewer at home in the palm of his hands.
that certainly put a smile on my face. and it almost made me want to see the Royal Rumble next month. almost.

if you're wondering about the title of this blog, i had some corn for dinner last night. so, think about corn and then think about shit in a toilet. my digestive system is working.

i'm guessing it's going to be another late dinner at Waffle House tonight after the game. the game is being televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

mom went into work today. she kind of had to as the phones here are fucking horrible. and the really funny part is the internet goes out whenever the phone rings or is picked up to check for messages or make a call. once again, thank you to Frontier Communications for being the worst fucking company i have EVER used in my life. thankfully, once we move to the new house, i'll hopefully NEVER have to deal with these fuckers again.

mom said she was going to be back home around 2 pm. i laughed as i figured that wasn't going to happen. sure enough, it's a 4:45 pm as i'm writing this and she isn't home yet.

i cleaned the toilets today. that was certainly fun as my back stiffened up each time i had to stoop down to scrub something clean. good times.

i did manage to get a few songs downloaded on iTunes today, even with the shitty internet. you'll see those songs below in the music section.

that's all for me today. i'll be on here early tomorrow as the USA vs. Canada game starts at 4 pm. i certainly want to get everything done before that starts.

hope everyone is having a great day. if not, go open that bottle of scotch you've been hiding from your alcoholic kids and go enjoy it. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
