playing a losing game...

i have noticed on the nights i do get to drink, the alcohol in the glass is getting higher and higher. i know my father had the alcoholic gene, as did probably all of his fathers before him, so i know my future. i suppose i'm simply trying to fool myself into thinking i'm being responsible about it all. whatever. before long i'll be the drunk writing on my back porch, bitching about the kids to stay off my fucking lawn.

i did write a couple poems this morning. i typed up those two and the one from the other day this afternoon. i think they are pretty good. i'm thinking i might really go through the unpublished file again and try to find some hidden gems. i do plan another round of submissions before August ends.

the New York Yankees pounded out 17 hits last night and beat Toronto 11-5. hopefully they still have some more left in those bats and win the series tonight.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade this morning. i highly recommend checking it out.
Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real - Find Yourself EP

Big Brother was pretty good last night. Jessica will get evicted tonight and hopefully there will be fireworks. of course, i won't be able to see the show until 2 in the morning because of preseason football. so i guess i will be following online.

Mr. Mercedes was fucking awesome last night. i think i am really going to enjoy this show.

Snowfall was excellent last night.

Lucha Underground was really good last night.

NXT was a little light on wrestling but did an excellent job selling just how good Takeover: Brooklyn could be this year.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother, Weekend Update and The Chris Gethard Show.

the reason Big Brother will be on later here is the game between the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints. hopefully the Saints win and don't have any injuries.

i believe today is mom's last physical therapy session for her hip. the hip has healed really good. the problem she has is her muscles in her right leg are so damn weak that she has problems doing the little things. i told her she might have to do a little electric stimulation on those muscles to help the process. but, what do i know...

i did listen to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. you can check that out by going here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/srw-146-joey-janela/id934576040?i=1000390868923&mt=2

it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow.. hit or miss back to Summer showers i suppose. at some point, i know i need to hit the grocery store. i have pills to pick up for myself and mom. that's probably $100 right there.

i guess i should actually check the mailbox sometime before i take mom to her session. i guess i have spent most of the day here in my room. hello depression, my name is...

pleasantly surprised

so my sister came down for the weekend today. she brought lunch with her, which i guess is my birthday lunch. it was good. and i finally got to open my presents from my birthday. 6 days late but who's counting... i got some great music, a book i have a poem in and plenty of clothes. my sister also brought me some alcohol from her trip to Puerto Rico. all in all, a pretty good birthday.

i wrote 4 more poems last night to go with the one i wrote the other day. i typed those up this morning and really like them. speaking of poems, i heard back from Beautiful Losers on my poetry submission from a few weeks ago. they decided to pass on the 6 poems i sent. my unpublished file is getting large, i guess i need to do a round of submissions soon.

Fuck, That's Delicious was excellent last night. i would love to go to Japan at some point in my life. i suppose i should get a passport first.

The Pizza Show last night was very good.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty fucking funny last night.

Caraoke Showdown was ok last night. i'm not sure if i'm going to watch the show much more. it's not bad enough for me to enjoy it and it's certainly not good enough for me to spend time watching it.

Baskets was fucking hilarious last night. a good sudden death that you think might be coming but not when it does always makes for great television.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Treehouse Masters and Real Time with Bill Maher.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at VCU. if Dayton loses, they are back in a first place tie. if they can get a victory, they will have a clear path to the regular season championship in the A10. the game tonight is on ESPN2.

i'm not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. most likely it will be the morning, but who knows.

we got a little snow this morning. there's a chance of snow the entire weekend. good times.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

ready for the storm

ever since i was a child, i have been fascinated with the weather, destruction, violence, etc. knowing that the largest hurricane in over a decade is going to make landfall tonight somewhere in the Southeast... i know i'll be up most of the evening watching the weather. i have some friends down in that part of the country that are hopefully safe. plus, my sister wants to move down there someday, so i'm hoping she pays attention to all of this as well.

i did a little poetry work today. i'll be sending 13 poems out tomorrow, most likely in the morning.

American Horror Story was excellent last night. the show gets a little creepier with each episode.

You're The Worst was great last night. it also showed once again why marijuana should be legal.

Total Bellas was funny, only for one thing. John Cena getting bit on the leg by a dog. i was howling with laughter. of course, he wanted the little fucker put down, which is probably the "real" John Cena. after looking at the house he and Nikki Bella have, my thoughts of him being a douchebag are totally correct.

Lucha Underground was really good last night. the match between Prince Puma and Matanza Cueto was excellent.

NXT was really good as well last night. the 2nd annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic started. given the teams in it, it should be amazing once again.

Any Given Wednesday was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Better Things and Fuck, That's Delicious.

the New York Rangers play their final preseason game tonight at home against Philadelphia. the lineup tonight is a bunch of guys on the verge of either making the team or getting sent to the minors. so i expect a great effort tonight from everyone.

i will probably watch some of the football game tonight between Arizona and San Francisco. Arizona's defense is my fantasy defense for one of my teams.

i did listen to the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. it was excellent as usual. Sam interviewed Brie and Nikki Bella.  he had a great take on the rumors surrounding TNA and how Monday Night Raw could be fixed. i highly recommend it. look for it on iTunes, Stitcher, etc.

mom found out today it could be a fucking month before she could get an appointment with a specialist for her back. let's just say she was fucking thrilled to hear that.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow before team USA plays a soccer friendly against Cuba in Cuba. i believe that's the first time they have played there since 1947.

that's all for me kids. sending my best out to all of you in the path of the storm. be safe, stay strong, keep the alcohol ready.

running on empty

it was probably a good thing i didn't go to the basketball game last night. if i would have, i believe i would be sitting in jail right now as i'm pretty sure no one would bail me out on attempted murder charges. the game between Dayton and Duquesne was an instant classic. sadly, the three fucks officiating the game were absolutely fucking clueless. and i'm not bitching because they fucked over Dayton every chance they had, i'm bitching because they were so damn bad they were screwing over both teams. thankfully, Dayton overcame a 12 point deficit late to win 76-74. it's the kind of win that makes you start to believe that this is going to be one of those pinch me, i'm fucking dreaming seasons. Dayton is now 20-3 on the season. you have to go back 40 years or so to find a Dayton team this good, this late in the season. here's hoping they keep it rolling when they next play at Rhode Island.

i really enjoyed The Muppets last night. it was a fun episode with a good message. plus, i enjoy anything that involves Joan Jett.

Total Divas was pretty good last night. it also showed why i enjoy Paige so damn much. she clearly has the same asshole sense of humor i do.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Lucha Underground. i will also be watching NXT on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers play at Pittsburgh tonight. this game will be a tough one given the Rangers injury situation. hopefully i'm enjoying a victory beer late tonight.

i did listen to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. i highly recommend it as Sam takes a look back on interviews with Daniel Bryan over the years.

i cleaned off the driveway a little today. i was hoping to get most of the snow off of it before it gets really fucking cold tonight. the windchill is supposed to be below zero i do believe. this will be one of those nights i'm happy i'm not on the farm.

i did a little poetry work today. i believe i came up with 23 poems to send out to various places. i think i will be doing that on Friday. i think i'm sending to 3 or 4 places i haven't sent to before. hello butterflies.

that's all for me today kids. not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i believe we have no choice but to go to the grocery store tomorrow. and with how the pantry is looking, it's going to be a long visit.

we're having chili tonight, so hopefully the farts keep me warm tonight. enjoy that visual.

8 wins to go...

i love this time of year. wake up early in the morning, put on the "lucky" t-shirt, eat the same breakfast as the last game, etc, etc. the playoffs are great. they are much better when "your" team is winning. they are torture when you are superstitious. but, as i learned a long time ago, find the pleasure in the pain.

the New York Rangers start the Eastern Conference finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning this afternoon. i'd love to win game 1 for a number of reasons. the Rangers have never beaten Tampa's goalie. the Rangers didn't beat Tampa at all this regular season. a win would go a long way to removing any doubt they had that they can return to the Stanley Cup Final this season. the Rangers are the odds on favorite in Vegas to do it. hopefully this is yet another time where Vegas is right on the money.

it's sort of gloomy and rainy here today. just what these old bones needed.

the New York Yankees got their asses handed to them last night 12-1. and that was with their best pitcher on the mound. thank god i didn't watch much of the game. they try to end the losing streak tonight, weather permitting.

i did catch the latest episode of VICE last night on HBO. it amazes me at the amount of ignorance that exists in the world.

here's some late night laughs for you:

and since the pain i'm in reminds me how much i could use some drugs at the moment, i'll simply do the next best thing:
that's better

after the hockey game today, i'm probably going to watch the horse race. if i don't, that's because i am at the grocery store. i do know i will be watching the season finale of Saturday Night Live tonight. Louis C.K. is hosting and Rihanna is performing. that should be good. also tonight will be a new episode of ROH and an old episode of Austin City Limits with Bon Iver. those two will be on my DVR.

i'm going to guess that i will be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays Arsenal. and hopefully the boys will have me in a good mood.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

open the windows and take a nap

welcome to the 18th day of National Poetry Month. i want to shine a bright light on one of my favorite female poets, and also a follower of this blog, Ally Malinenko. i have been a fan of Ally's work for years. i hope you click on these next few links, find some poems or stories you enjoy, BUY something and support one of the better humans out there. enjoy:

the weather today and yesterday has been nearly fucking perfect. if i was in a better mood or not in pain at the moment, i might actually open the windows and take a long nap. of course, i don't live in that utopia. my right ankle has been killing me all day long. and the joy of all joys, i woke up this morning with my left hip bothering me. my life would be nearly complete if i can find out that i now have arthritis in my hip. i believe this is god testing how soon will i drink myself to death. good times.

Manchester United had a couple of juicy chances today against Chelsea. unfortunately, it was one of those fucking days where nothing would click just right. and i think all of us knew, if Chelsea scored first, they were going to park the bus and make the game fucking boring. sure enough, that's what happened. Chelsea won 1-0. they will win the title this year, i have no doubt of that. hopefully United will finish in the top 4. i like their chances of doing that even with the loss today.

the New York Yankees won last night 5-4. A-Rod hit 2 home runs and drove in 4. i guess the year off with a drug suspension did him good. the bullpen was great last night. hopefully they can win two games in a row for the first time this season tonight. lord knows, i could use a victory beer.

i'll watch a little of that until the New York Rangers play game 2 of their series with the Penguins tonight. hopefully, the boys will get the job done again tonight.

on the DVR tonight will be ROH. that should be another great episode. i'll probably watch it tomorrow morning before i head over to the farm to take out the trash.

i helped mom this morning at the farm. we cleaned up the house as best we could. today was the first open house. i really hope that this auction in a few weeks will be a huge success. and i really hope my truck gets sold as well as the farm. i could use the money.

that's all for me today kids. i'm going to crawl in bed and start dreaming of Latin women burying my face in their ass and hope all my pain goes away. i guess i better keep the lotion nearby.

i hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

finding out the hard way that spicy means way too fucking hot for me...

i had a nice talk with the muse last night. i'm really happy that she's doing well out on the west coast. hopefully she'll realize one day that she should be with me, but i won't hold that against her.

i got up this morning and was feeling pretty good. of course, i should have realized that was nothing more than fool's gold. shortly after i started eating breakfast, i got the shits. i tell ya, my body was wonderful timing. not like i didn't have basically a full day in public planned today or anything. thankfully, a couple of pills later and i felt much better.

i drove mom down to the place where we donate clothes. thankfully, a parking spot opened up right as i pulled up. we got rid of a ton of clothes today. hopefully they go to some needy people. after that, we drove a few miles to the used music store where i go to sell off my CDs. i must have picked the right ones as i made $50 today. much better than the last few times in there. that just about covers what i spent on Christmas. thank god for the $100 in gift cards that i used as well.

after that we drove to a steakhouse to get some lunch. mom had a gift card to use. of course, that machine wasn't working. i decided to try the spicy chicken as my appetizer. after a few bites, i thought this isn't that bad. after a few more, i believe my asshole started to pucker. being the stubborn male, i finished all of it. my lips were on fucking fire. thankfully, the steak burger cooled that down greatly. overall though, the food was great. of course, when i wake up in the morning with the shits again, i'll probably be singing a different tune.

then, it was time for the grocery store. i truly felt like the dirty old man tonight at the store. all these teenage girls in with their mothers and all i could think about was what i wouldn't give to be 15 again and know what i know now. i imagine i'll have a few creepy poems to write here soon.

tv was pretty good last night. i did laugh at The Big Bang Theory. the writing and timing of that show is top notch. i picked the football game wrong last night but my defense got me 16 points. that gets my fantasy football playoff game off to a great start.

i have no damn clue what i'm going to watch tonight. i imagine if i get bored flipping through the channels, i'll end up doing the dishes and taking my shower tonight. i think the electrician is supposed to be here in the morning, so it's probably best i take it tonight.

i have a long crazy Saturday in front of me. Dayton plays on the road, i'm taking my friend Paul to his first NHL game, and the Rangers are playing late night up in Canada. more on that craziness tomorrow morning.

i hope everyone has a great weekend in store. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

first snowflakes of the season

i went out to feed the cats this afternoon and by the time i got done, it was snowing. nothing more than a light dusting at best, but just to see the flakes in the air made me feel even colder than i was. of course, i was in a flannel coat and shorts...i know winter is basically here now; all the cats were present by my second whistle for the food today. that might make it easier to round them up before we move.

not sure when the big move is going to happen, but i can't imagine this farm will be up for sale for long. and hopefully the buyer is thinking the same thing i'm thinking... this place is worth at least $400,000. if that could happen, my mother and i will be as happy as pigs in shit.

now, given my luck, that light snow was still going on when i had to go into town to get water. thankfully, it wasn't too bad.

i was a little surprised by The Voice last night. not necessarily by whom America voted to keep, but whom the judges saved. i was wrong all 4 times. i suppose that will make the next live shows interesting.

Lucha Underground was really good. the triple threat match was top notch. i really like what i'm seeing with this show.

American Horror Story was great once again.

tonight, the New York Rangers take on Colorado at home. they get back another healthy player, Dan Boyle. he went to college with my sister. hopefully i will be drinking a victory beer later tonight.

also tonight i plan on watching The Big Bang Theory. i'm not planning on watching much of the NFL game tonight. i don't have anyone playing and my opponents only have one guy going.

i finished my "homework" assignment from Janne Karlsson this morning. i sent it on to him and he really liked it. let's just say if this one gets published, i will be grinning ear to ear. my dirty mind had some fun with this one.

i'll probably be on here early tomorrow. i need to go to the bank tomorrow and team USA has their friendly with Colombia tomorrow afternoon.that should be an interesting one.

my mother was really better today. i can tell she's walking better and is talking better as well. hopefully that means she'll be able to go to the basketball game tomorrow.

that's all for me. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

Halloween in a winter coat

i went to bed really late last night/this morning. i had to do the dishes, mostly because i wanted to make sure there was some hot water running in these old pipes. the joys of having an old house and you're having your first freeze warning of the season. when i got up, it was close to 40 degrees. sadly, that's probably the high temperature for today. good times. reminds me of my youth having to wear a winter coat over my Halloween costume. thank god those days are over.

my plan worked out again with the New Orleans Saints last night. i picked against them and they won again, on the road even. i'll gladly keep up that habit if it gets them back to the playoffs. they are first in the division once again. a very good 28-10 win on short rest.

i did watch a little bit of LeBron's return to Cleveland. he played tighter than a nervous virgin in an orgy. painful to watch. i doubt they will play that bad again this season. especially against a team that sucks like the Knicks.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty good last night. Billy Bob Thornton did a great job in his role. thankfully, i'm not that fucking awkward around women.

i got an email from Janne Karlsson this morning with an assignment that i'm going to try to get done sometime this weekend. it's always a good sign when he sends me some art and i immediately have some words come to me.

mom and i have a hockey game in Columbus tonight. the Blue Jackets are facing the Toronto Maple Leafs. i love getting to see teams from the Original 6. all i have left out of those teams are Montreal and Boston. i think we have tickets for the Boston game in Columbus... or maybe not. i got to see Detroit and Chicago play in Chicago years ago. and i have seen the Rangers a handful of times in my life. hopefully it is a good game tonight. the Blue Jackets have a ton of injuries, so i'm thinking it may be a glorified minor league team tonight. but, another chance for me to amaze my sister by knowing all the words to O Canada.

it is supposed to be snowing tonight after the game. i would prefer if that shit would wait until i get back home. not that i fear driving in the elements... it's the other assholes on the road i can't stand. plus, most of the drive will be in under construction zones on the highway. good times.

hopefully we get home at a decent time as i would like to catch the new episode of Sonic Highways tonight. Foo Fighters are quickly becoming one of my all-time bands.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i'm guessing late morning/early afternoon as Ohio State plays tomorrow night. it's a pretty big sports weekend, most notably it is the Manchester Derby weekend. i'm slowly gearing myself up to be mentally spent by Sunday at noon.

hope everyone has a great Halloween. try not to be too big of a prick to the kids knocking on the door. and don't be the asshole that gives something other than candy.

where do the hours go

when i sit back and look at everything i want to do today, i quickly realize there's no fucking way i will get everything done. there simply isn't enough hours in the day. here's a quick recap of my day yesterday...

mom and i went to a local pizza joint. got way too much food, so i knew what i was having for dinner. came home and watched sports. was happy and then completely dejected. then took an unwanted nap and didn't get back to bed until 5 this morning. good times.

the Yankees won yesterday 6-2. helps that the Royals starter left after the first pitch. today is Derek Jeter day. knowing the Yankees, it will be long, plenty of nostalgia, over the top, a tad bit tacky, did i mention long, but in the end, it has to be before another win. if they lose today, just about any good chance of making the playoffs will be gone.

Ohio State got fucking humbled last night by Virginia Tech, 35-21. it was probably exactly what the kids needed. a week in Columbus where they are treated like pieces of shit because they lost a home game. then, maybe they will understand the importance of that jersey to so many people. of course, maybe the coaches will actually come up with a better game plan next time.

of course, as a conference yesterday, the Big Ten proved that they fucking suck. all the teams that played anybody lost. things have certainly changed since my youth.

ROH was great last night. so great, i watched it twice. if you love tag team wrestling, i highly urge you watching any match the Young Bucks are in. easily the best tag team going today.

today will be a clusterfuck for me after football goes off. if i did my planning correctly, i'll be getting to bed at 3 in the morning. if there was any day i really could use a DVR, it is today. after football, it will be Big Brother, Boardwalk Empire, The Strain, Last Week Tonight, Total Divas, Ray Donovan, and ending with Masters of Sex. i doubt i'll make it through all of it.

my fantasy lineups are set. i don't really have any injury concerns going into the games today. my quarterbacks don't play until the 4 o'clock games, so i'll be paying most of my attention to the Saints game early. hopefully this is the year where they can put it all together again and win another title.

before all of that happens, i have to get some breakfast in me, pick up all the damn trash and get it down to the end of the lane. plus, feed the cats and birds and try to get all of that done in the next 90 minutes. thank god it's not raining.

that's all for me today. hope your Sunday is a good one for you. thank you for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

be well. be creative, be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

emerging from the fog

i woke up this morning to a fog so thick you couldn't see the road from the house. hell, you could only see the first power pole and not the other three going down the lane. hopefully it will not be like that tomorrow morning as mom needs to hit the road before dawn. guess i'll worry about that tomorrow.

got some really great music yesterday on NoiseTrade. especially considering i had only heard of one of the bands i got. i'll include some links to the FREE music down below in the music section.

the Yankees finally got a win yesterday, 3-2. i only watched the last 2 innings, so i will probably continue that today hoping they can win the series. i did enjoy that Jeter got the winning hit after almost being hit with a pitch. good times.

ROH last night was excellent. i was hoping they were going to show the post match speech from Kevin Steen, but they didn't. i urge anyone who likes pro wrestling to check out this episode whenever you can.

i did watch a little UFC last night and some Mexican soccer. mostly, it was flipping through channels and then just turning on Dateline for my mother and getting on the computer. i've been trying to check my emails more regularly as i have been getting more survey invites than usual  here lately. and since that is how i try to help pay bills and Christmas for my loved ones... i've got to figure out how i'm paying for my sister's birthday gifts without going below my oh shit point in my checking account.

tonight should be another busy night of television. Big Brother, Ray Donovan, The Strain, Last Week Tonight, and Masters of Sex.

i've got the trash out and the animals fed so far today. i can feel some rain coming, so i think i will wait until i am in complete misery to do the dishes. i suppose today will be a test of my pain tolerance.

i'm trying to convince my mother that we should move out of state when we leave the farm. i don't think i'm going to win this battle.

that's all for me today. hope you enjoy the poems i got published late last night. 3 pretty sad ones. the way these days are going here lately, there's plenty more of that to come.

be well. be cool. be creative. be sure to enjoy the end of the weekend. be quick to send me CASH, panties, love letters, hate mail, broken promises, and old pennies from heaven.
