the dog days are here...

i don't know if it is because of the Olympics being on and i'm up at all hours so i can watch shit live, or just the days seem to be dragging along slow as fuck... the dog days of summer are here. i did make it to the bank today. after i made that deposit, i went to Big Lots, hoping to find some baseball cards. no luck. hell, they didn't even have any Funko Pop! toys either. well shit.

the Yankees lost last night to Baltimore, 7-1. the best part of the game was the fucking cat running around in the outfield. and of course, since this is the Yankees season from hell, Gerrit Cole and Jordan Montgomery both have COVID now. so, the Yankees will be starting a rookie tonight. hopefully, he does well. he's their #6 prospect, so i'm hoping for the best.

Monday Night Raw was good last night. as usual, it could have been better.

i did stay up to watch the USA men's basketball team defeat Spain, 95-81.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NXT and Deadliest Catch.

i do plan on watching some of the TBT finals tonight.

i do believe the USA women's basketball team plays Australia late tonight. i'm sure i'll be up watching that.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

i have some friends with books coming out, so here are a few links for you to check out:

REVIEW - Fitting the Ocean in Your Mouth by Ally Malinenko

i often think the best poems invite you in, set the scene, beat you over the head and then send you on your way. in Ally Malinenko's new book, Fitting the Ocean in Your Mouth, there are about 120 pages of poems like that. if you have lived at all, you can find yourself in any of these poems. even if you have only lived a little, there's room for you in these poems. highlights from the book for me were: "Returning Your Things", "Angela", "The Flight to Madrid", "Suicide", "Movie Death", "Be Nicer", "Marble Soul", "Bleed Myself", "Orpheus", "Garage Sale" and "Sodden". i highly recommend getting a copy of this book and taking the time to enjoy these poems like a glass of fine wine.

here's a link to where you can get the book:

well, i guess i have shopped on Black Friday now...

mom made a purchase online last night from Office Depot. the paper she got for the printer had to be picked up at the store. so, she got the notification this morning that it was ready at the store. we went this afternoon to get that and looked around at some of the other shit on sale. after that, we went to Dollar Tree to find some toys and some new cooking utensils. mom likes to use things until they basically are nothing but shit. she was bitching about having a hard time about getting the beaters out of the hand mixer. i laughed and said the hand mixer is only 40 fucking years old, i can't imagine what the problem is. and all her table and tea spoons are so damn old you can't read what size they are anymore. so we looked for some of that shit and found some good shit, Betty Crocker even. plus, we just found out last night that one of the kids (i guess he's a cousin or something, fuck, i've never met him) likes dinosaurs and i remembered seeing some while we were there at Dollar Tree earlier in the week. sure enough. so, i have finally shopped on Black Friday.

Thanksgiving went pretty well here. everything mom made was good. my sister has not manged to get on my nerves yet. and amazingly, my blood sugar was actually a decent number this morning. maybe i'm figuring this shit out now.

Young Sheldon was pretty funny last night.

Life in Pieces was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be two episodes of NJPW.

i'll be watching the New York Rangers take on Detroit for most of the evening. hopefully the boys can get another victory.

i had some tasty leftovers for lunch today and i'm guessing there will be more leftovers for dinner.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow before Manchester United plays. that game will go right into the Ohio State vs. that team up North game at Noon. and since mom and i will be at the Dayton vs. Akron college basketball game tomorrow night, i'd rather do the blog before i could possible be fucking livid to the nth degree.

i did get my copy of Ally Malinenko's new book, Fitting the Ocean in Your Mouth today in the mail. i'm probably going to read a little of that tonight. i told Ally that if i find the time and get the book done before the end of the month, i may try to do a little review of it on here. so stay tuned.

i hope everyone had a good holiday. i hope if you went out shopping either last night or today, you found everything you were looking for. and to anyone reading this in Egypt, i doubt i have any words that could do your sorrow and grief any good.

now that it seems the world has got back to its normal, bloody self, i hope everyone has a great weekend.

you would think a holiday is coming up or something...

i went to the grocery store this afternoon. it was fucking packed. i stepped (somehow) wrong while in the parking lot, so my right foot was killing me the entire time. that was real fun as i was battling old ladies trying to get to the shit my mom had on the list. thankfully, i found everything that was on the list. between that and the prescriptions, i managed to keep it under $150.

as soon as i saw who one of the referees were last night in the Dayton vs. Hofstra game, i knew Dayton was fucked. Teddy Valentine is the worst kind of referee for any sport. they believe that the game is about them. every fucking shitty call, except 2 times that Teddy had to make up for his own mistakes, went against Dayton. and it was the classic referee teaching freshmen a lesson type calls. with all that being said, Dayton also played like shit for most of the game as well. amazingly, they had a small lead with 2 minutes left in the game. i'm not sure why Coach Grant had 2 of the starters on the bench at this point. i'm sure he's still learning the team. i give the freshman that was forced into taking a forced last second three credit for not looking to pass. the three just rimmed out. that's life. Dayton lost 72-69. so now they get to play Ohio University for the first time in over 50 years. joy. their third game on Sunday will be against a lesser opponent as well (thinking Big 5 conferences), so the schedule has now gone to shit. i know this is going to be a long season. and my hatred for losing is going to be fucking tested. i can feel that already.

the season finale of Better Things was great last night.

the finale of Fuck, That's Delicious Classics was hilarious last night.

The Chris Gethard Show was fucking great last night.

Gotham was fucking awesome last night. i can't wait for it to come back in 2 weeks.

The Big Bang Theory was very funny last night.

Young Sheldon was funny as well last night.

Life in Pieces was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW and Real Time with Bill Maher.

so at the same time that Dayton is playing Ohio, the New York Rangers will be playing in Columbus. i figure if Dayton starts to piss me off too much, i'll flip over to the hockey game. i would love to see both of them win tonight, as i could use some alcohol.

i sent off some money today for my Christmas gift to myself, Ally Malinenko's new book FITTING THE OCEAN IN YOUR MOUTH. to find out how you can get a copy, go here:

i guess we're supposed to have some end of the world type winds come through here tonight. they are supposed to hit after midnight, so i guess i won't be sleeping. like that's something new.

i'll be on here in the morning tomorrow, sometime before Manchester United plays.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. take it easy and then take it again.

and here comes the pain

i believe my mother was shocked yesterday when i helped her with Christmas lights and some decorations. she wrongly believes that i hate this shit. it's more that i hate my memories of Christmas and all the fucking dysfunction and fights. having a father that made sure he got himself the best gift possible each year really disgusted any happy thought i would ever have of Christmas. but, now that the demon that spawned me has died, i can now do a little more with trying to create my own Christmas memories. plus, my mom wants to shock my sister since she believes we do nothing here other than sit on the computer and wait for death. good times.

amazingly, the New Orleans Saints actually won yesterday. i was so damn shocked i actually forgot to have my victory beer. i'll enjoy that this evening. the defense played probably the best it had played all season. and a 24-17 victory over a team with thoughts of making the playoffs was a very nice way to put a little joy into this miserable season.

Tables Ladders and Chairs was a pretty fun ppv last night on WWE Network. i was a little upset that they teased some fire in one of the matches but didn't do it. also, i'm hoping that Kevin Owens losing the Intercontinental Championship last night is a sign that he's going to be in the World Title scene soon and not shuffled back down to obscurity. the main event was somewhat boring until Roman Reigns snapped. kudos to HHH for still taking a beating like that at his age. it should make for an interesting Monday Night Raw tonight.

the Stone Cold Podcast with HBK after the ppv was pretty good as well.

Homeland was fucking perfect last night. just enough tension and drama that sets up the finale next week to be a great one.

The Affair was excellent as well last night. i really can't wait to see what happens on the season finale.

my fantasy football teams got ravaged by injuries yesterday. i've already lost 2 of the matches. the third one i have a 12 point lead and i have to win to make the playoffs in all 3 leagues. that might be the only thing i will get to be proud of this season. i won another week in fantasy hockey. that's two in a row. maybe the worm has turned.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice and the Adele in NYC special on NBC. i'm really interested to see how the first night of The Voice finale goes.

the book i ordered from Ally Malinenko arrived today. i'm really looking forward to reading it.

i think i might be going out with mom today to get an outdoor timer for the Christmas lights. i'm hoping that the cold front has moved through the area. i hate going out in the rain.

my uncle seems to be doing better. i think he's going to be in the hospital one more day. i'm hoping someone there tells him how close he came to dying. it's time they stop sugarcoating chemo and the cancer he has. he wanted to be aggressive and fight it and it nearly killed him. maybe he wants to rethink that strategy. or maybe he wants to give us all a Christmas memory.

when i say all the time i come from a dysfunctional family, i'm not bullshitting you or embellishing the stories to make it sound worse. you learn as a writer, nothing can be scarier than the truth.

i hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. if not, have another drink.

when the rain feels like laying on a bed of nails

i told my mother today the topic was going to be pain. the shitty feeling i had yesterday that cut this blog short had to have been the fucking cold front that moved through today. i was so drained last night that i think i fell asleep before midnight. i didn't even bother to turn the lights out in the house. and of course, the rain came while the handymen that mom hired were here today. mom doesn't trust me on a ladder, mostly because if i fall she has no prayer of helping me back up. and my back is so damn bad now that if i do fall, i will probably break something. so, the two guys she hired hung up just about everything we needed to have hung. that includes all my sports shit and my bar sign, so i'm ready for business i suppose. i told mom when she dies i'm turning the living room into a pool hall. all i've wanted since i was 18 was a damn pool table in a house i live in. 21 years later and i'm still trying to figure out how to do it. if i ever get the pool table, all i would need is a good stereo and quite frankly, i may never be on the internet ever again. i could play pool for days on end and never think about another fucking thing. maybe that's why i don't have one.

i was not surprised when the only black person on The Voice last night got eliminated. that tends to be how the show has gone for the last few seasons. i think i have at least 1 person on each team i think can win. Emily Ann on Blake's team. Madi on Pharrell's team. Jeffrey on Gwen's team. and Amy and Jordan on Adam's team. anyone outside of those 5 winning it and i will be shocked beyond belief.

i didn't watch much of the USA vs. TNT yesterday. i was hoping for at least a point and they got that with a 0-0 draw. people who did watch it said it was fucking boring. so, i suppose i missed nothing.

i did watch a good portion of college basketball last night. i know Dayton beat a shitty Alabama team, but honestly, not one fucking person talking about it on the station it aired on. i suppose when Dayton makes another deep run in March, the fuckers at ESPN will be surprised. honestly, if i could never watch ESPN again but still get all the sports i love, i'd sign up for that in a second.

The Muppets were very funny last night. i would love to have seen what Scooter would have done if the show was on HBO or something. Scream Queens was good as well. i'm very interested to see what happens next week.

i got some FREE music on NoiseTrade today from one of my favorite bands. i'll put the link below.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be American Horror Story and You're The Worst. i'll be watching NXT on WWE Network and probably some hockey as well tonight.

i'm not sure if i'm going to like the new Google+ or not.

my uncle had his first round of chemo today. he did surprisingly well (so far). hopefully that continues as he gets on a schedule.

not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i've got podcasts to listen to, poems to type up and god knows what else to do. i suppose i should get started thinking about what i'm getting people for Christmas. if you'd like to be on my list to get something (poems, stickers, filth) for the holidays, email me and i'll gladly send you something.

that's all for today. i hope it didn't rain all fucking day where you are.

open the windows and take a nap

welcome to the 18th day of National Poetry Month. i want to shine a bright light on one of my favorite female poets, and also a follower of this blog, Ally Malinenko. i have been a fan of Ally's work for years. i hope you click on these next few links, find some poems or stories you enjoy, BUY something and support one of the better humans out there. enjoy:

the weather today and yesterday has been nearly fucking perfect. if i was in a better mood or not in pain at the moment, i might actually open the windows and take a long nap. of course, i don't live in that utopia. my right ankle has been killing me all day long. and the joy of all joys, i woke up this morning with my left hip bothering me. my life would be nearly complete if i can find out that i now have arthritis in my hip. i believe this is god testing how soon will i drink myself to death. good times.

Manchester United had a couple of juicy chances today against Chelsea. unfortunately, it was one of those fucking days where nothing would click just right. and i think all of us knew, if Chelsea scored first, they were going to park the bus and make the game fucking boring. sure enough, that's what happened. Chelsea won 1-0. they will win the title this year, i have no doubt of that. hopefully United will finish in the top 4. i like their chances of doing that even with the loss today.

the New York Yankees won last night 5-4. A-Rod hit 2 home runs and drove in 4. i guess the year off with a drug suspension did him good. the bullpen was great last night. hopefully they can win two games in a row for the first time this season tonight. lord knows, i could use a victory beer.

i'll watch a little of that until the New York Rangers play game 2 of their series with the Penguins tonight. hopefully, the boys will get the job done again tonight.

on the DVR tonight will be ROH. that should be another great episode. i'll probably watch it tomorrow morning before i head over to the farm to take out the trash.

i helped mom this morning at the farm. we cleaned up the house as best we could. today was the first open house. i really hope that this auction in a few weeks will be a huge success. and i really hope my truck gets sold as well as the farm. i could use the money.

that's all for me today kids. i'm going to crawl in bed and start dreaming of Latin women burying my face in their ass and hope all my pain goes away. i guess i better keep the lotion nearby.

i hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

a little spring in winter

it got over 50 degrees today. as the guy said on the radio, that probably means we'll have a foot of snow to deal with in March. i, of course, didn't take advantage of the good weather. i've been inside most of today, readying poems for a birthday submission. that's a sure sign that i'm fucked in the head.

last night was a pretty good night of television. Gotham was totally fucking awesome. just when i think that show can't get any better, it does by leaps and bounds. i can't wait for this to come out on DVD or something so i can own it and watch it for every beautiful detail.

the Men in Blazers was pretty funny last night. my mother watched a bit of it as well and was laughing pretty hard at them. i just wish the show was longer. 30 minutes flies by way too quickly.

Monday Night Raw was really good last night. mostly because the veterans were booked great and the surprises truly were the holy shit kind of surprises that reminded me why i love pro wrestling. here are a few clips that made me feel like a child again:

and then Jimmy Fallon reminded me of just how damn hot Jennifer Lopez still is:

i slept pretty good last night. i'm still not happy about waking up around 5 each morning, but i guess i'm just fucking old now. by this time tomorrow, i'll be even older.

tonight will be an interesting one for me. the New York Rangers come on at 7 with their game against Ottawa. and then at 7:30 the Dayton Flyers play at Davidson. so, there's either going to be a ton flipping back and forth or one game will be on mute on the television and the other game will be on the radio. either way, my mom is going to be fucking pissed within 20 minutes. good times.

hopefully i'll be enjoying a couple of victory beers later tonight.

i think in the morning tomorrow i will be emailing some poems out and getting all my mail ready to send. then, i'm hoping my truck starts and i really need to get a fucking haircut. i believe late in the afternoon/early evening, mom is playing on taking me out to eat. i'm guessing sports bar as in all honestly, i'm just a cheap whore.

so, i'm guessing i will be back on here after all that. if not, send a search party.

hard to believe my grandmother would have been 103 today. sadly, she's been somewhere else for the last 22 birthdays.

i highly urge you to read this and share it with anyone and everyone:
http://allymalinenko.com/2015/01/20/welcome-to-cancerland/

that's all for me today. i have to go make dinner as mom is finally trying to take care of her pulled groin. of course, who am i to talk as this pinched nerve or whatever the fuck is ailing me in my left arm isn't getting any better. i suppose the difference is i'm crazy enough to accept the pain and just move on and she isn't. or, maybe i don't want to spend my birthday in a doctor's office. either way, i'm sure you're thinking, just finish this fucker already.

thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

rain, death, poetry, and all the other maladies

i imagine the bad turn in my attitude started yesterday when i caught a skunk eating the cat food. i scared it away without getting sprayed but i really wish i had a gun on me at the time.

then, when i heard the news about the death of Pat Summerall, i really started to think about how much of my youth is now dead. nothing quite like nostalgia to make one feel old as hell.

i nearly forgot that Deadliest Catch started back up last night. thankfully, i was flipping through the channels around 6 and saw a preview. needless to say once the Yankees and Rangers got off to shit starts, the rest of my night was going to be about crab boats.

thankfully, the Yankees rebounded from that shit start to win 4-2. thanks to Robinson Cano and some great bullpen work. i'm a bit surprised at how quickly they have turned things around. hopefully it continues.

as for the Rangers, not quite sure why they came out flat and never really recovered, losing 4-2. i believe i read it somewhere up in Canada, but i totally agree with the point. if the Rangers miss the playoffs, they only have themselves to blame.

The Voice was pretty good once again last night. i'll probably watch the battles again on YouTube to get a better feel for them.

as for Deadliest Catch, it's one of my favorite shows ever. such great storytelling and people that just suck you in to see what happens next. i can't wait for another great season.

not quite sure why i was up before the sun this morning. it must have been the rain. i was stiff beyond belief. and not the kind of stiff i don't mind in the morning.

and now for an odd transition, the poet of the day on my Google+ page is Ally Malinenko. i really enjoy Ally's work. do check out her website at http://allymalinenko.com/.

with the bombings at the poisonous letters, it's starting to feel like 2001 again. not sure i like that.

that's all for me today. i've got 2 papers to read, dishes to do and hopefully watch Manchester United get a little closer to league title number 20.

music today:
