one of those days...

just enough rain in the area today that it feels like there's a 40 lb. gorilla trying to escape through my joints. it's one of those things that i have grown to handle (i'm laughing as i typed that) but it truly just grinds my production to a fucking halt. but, the show must go on.

a little poetry news before we get the shit show rolling...

i heard back from Nerve Cowboy on my poetry submission from January. they decided to pass on what i sent. i read the poems again and really liked them. so, i guess i'll go back to the drawing board and roll the dice again. these 5 poems will get published somewhere.

the New York Yankees lost the suspended game yesterday against the Nationals (5-3) and won the second game 4-2. they start a series tonight at home against Seattle.

Monday Night Raw was very good last night.

i woke up this morning to see Japan was up 1-0 on Colombia and Colombia was playing with 10 men. i guess that's what i get for tuning in 20 minutes late to a World Cup game. Japan ended up winning the game 2-1. Senegal upset Poland 2-1. and Russia blitzed Egypt in the second half to win the game 3-1. tomorrow Portugal plays Morocco, Uruguay takes on Saudi Arabia and Iran plays Spain.

It Will Be Chaos was very interesting to watch last night. it's one of those documentaries i wish everyone would watch.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, The Jim Jefferies Show and Deadliest Catch. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i think tomorrow is supposed to be stormy as well, so i have no damn clue when i'll be on here. i know i still have the trash to pickup here and next door, and i guess i should get that done before i get caught out in a thunderstorm.

that's all for me kids...

great time for the power to go out...

so i was in the shower early this afternoon. i had everything ready to go to the post office and the grocery store. and just as i started to shampoo my hair, the fucking power goes out. now, if i still lived on the farm, i would truly be fucked, as the water would have shut off as well. thankfully, here in suburbia, i could at least finish showering, albeit in the damn dark.

the power was out for 30 minutes. i have no fucking clue why it was out. i'm just happy it wasn't out for a long time.

some poetry news first... i heard back from The Homestead Review on my poetry submission from back in October. while they enjoyed my work, they decided to pass on the poems. well, at least i know i have 5 poems ready to go in February.

i sent out 25 poems today; 3 each to Pyrokinection, Rusty Truck and Mad Swirl; 5 each to Nerve Cowboy and Easy Street; and 6 poems to The Stray Branch. when i hear back from these places i'll pass along the verdicts.

the New York Rangers won last night over Buffalo 4-3. Rick Nash scored 2 more goals. that was the first time in 4 seasons he's had back to back multi goal games. of course, they lost Kevin Shattenkirk to a knee injury last night. great. more injuries right before a road trip. lovely. i believe they play at Colorado on Saturday.

Lip Sync Battle was really good last night.

Will & Grace was hilarious last night.

The Big Bang Theory was very good last night.

Young Sheldon was really good last night.

Life in Pieces was very funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Treehouse Masters, Real Time with Bill Maher and High Maintenance.

my sister is planning on coming down here in the morning. so, i will probably end up doing a blog sometime in the late afternoon/early evening, if i do one at all. i suppose that's the good thing about having your birthday on a weekend. the whole damn weekend can become a party if you want. if the New Orleans Saints would be playing on Sunday, it truly would be.

i do plan on watching a little of Manchester United tomorrow morning.

and then hopefully the Dayton Flyers won't get the shit beat out of them by Rhode Island tomorrow.

i think my sister and i are coming back home after the game to have lunch with mom. probably after that i will do a quick blog while hoping to have many victory drinks later in the evening.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. call if you need bail money.

i suppose there will be plenty of time to sleep when i'm dead

by the end of last night, i was too fucking wired to fall asleep. maybe around 4 in the morning, i finally ran out of gas. but i did manage to save a victory drink over to today, just in case you know.

first off, a little poetry news. i heard back from Nerve Cowboy on my poetry submission from back in July. they decided to pass on the poems. well, that gives me 5 more for the poems to go out this week sometime.

Manchester United won yesterday at Arsenal 3-1. other than the Paul Pogba red card, which means he will miss the Manchester derby coming up, the game was beautiful to watch. David De Gea once again proved why he is the best goalkeeper in the world.

after the game, mom and i went to the grocery store. of course, they didn't have the ointment she wanted. and then she pulled out a secret scroll that she had been working on for things to get. so our little trip turned into 90 minutes of walking around the store. oh fucking joy.

congrats to Trotwood for winning the Division III championship last night. i listened to most of the game on the radio while watching the Ohio Sate game. i know why i'm fucking crazy now. this was the second title for Trotwood in their history. another 15-0 season. i'm so happy for them after the heartbreaker last season. Trotwood won 27-19.

Ohio State defeated Wisconsin last night 27-21. honestly, turnovers were the only thing that kept Wisconsin in the game. i have no damn clue if Ohio State will make the final 4 or not. i'll find out here in about 20 minutes. personally, i think i would put Alabama in over Ohio State. i just can't erase that Iowa loss from my mind. but, congrats to the Buckeyes on another Big 10 Championship.

Michelle Wolf: Nice Lady was way funnier than i was expecting last night.

ROH was excellent last night.

Saturday Night Live was great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Shameless, SMILF and the season finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

the New Orleans Saints have a huge game today at home against Carolina. if they could win today, they would sweep the 2 games against Carolina this season. that would go a long way to winning the division.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight on the road at Mississippi State. i hope they can get a road victory tonight, but the emphasis is on hope. i will be watching it tonight on the SEC Network.

i just saw that Ohio State finished 5th and won't be in the final 4 this year. no team from the Big 10 made it this season. don't be shocked if the playoffs get expanded soon. money does talk in college sports.

since the Saints don't play until after 4 PM, i will probably spend a few hours today getting the poems ready for submission later this week. since i'm planning on it to be my last one of the year, it will most likely be a big one.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully, your Sunday will be even better.

fireworks and stray cats, what a mix...

i was in bed last night and could hear some loud booms, most likely coming from the apartments behind us. this time of year always reminds me when i lived on the farm and just how much the cats hated the sound of fireworks. every year, i would lose a couple that would just run away. i figure they would end up as a meal for a coyote.

time for some poetry news... i wrote 5 poems last night. wrote them and typed them up in just under 50 minutes. not bad. i really enjoyed the first poems of July. hopefully more are on the way.

i sent out 35 poems today; 4 to The Commonline Journal, 6 to Record Magazine and 5 each to Nerve Cowboy, Horror Sleaze Trash, Synchronized Chaos, Live Nude Poems and Misfit Magazine. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 8-1 to Houston. they come back home tonight to start a series against Toronto. they are sending 5 players to the All Star game this year. hopefully Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez do well in the home run derby.

Germany won the Confederations Cup yesterday over Chile 1-0. considering this was Germany's B team, the entire world should be scared what team Germany is going to send to the World Cup next year.

Big Brother was pretty good last night. i urge everyone that only follows the show on television to check out the live feeds from time to time. they are much more entertaining than what you see on television.

Power was excellent last night.

Last Week Tonight was fucking hilarious as always.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i don't really have any plans for tomorrow. i think it's supposed to be hot and humid. so, i'll probably do what i do for most holidays... my laundry.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. for those of you whose weekend is extended, hope you enjoy it. for the rest of us, back to the fucking grind.

a new week with old problems...

first off, let's get the poetry news out of the way. i heard back from Nerve Cowboy on my poetry submission from back in February. they decided to pass on the poems. at least they did apologize for the delay in their response.

i also wrote 3 more poems last night. i got on a wild brainstorm last night while watching Twin Peaks. more on that later. i typed up the poems this morning and really, really liked them. i'm shooting for sending out another round of submissions in the next couple of days.

Old Timer's Day yesterday was a good dose of nostalgia. and sadly, it was more entertaining than most of the Yankees game yesterday. Texas got up 7-0 before the Yankees did anything. they ended up losing 7-6. oh well. thankfully, the division sucks this year and the Yankees, losers of their last 10 out of 12, are still tied for first place. they start a series tonight in Chicago against the White Sox.

the Confederations Cup went pretty much how i thought it would yesterday. Germany defeated Cameroon 3-1 and Chile did just enough to advance in a 1-1 draw with Australia. that sets up the semifinals of Portugal vs. Chile and Germany vs. Mexico. that should be a nice preview of potential World Cup matches next year.

the season finale of Veep last night was hilarious.

the season finale of Silicon Valley was really good.

Last Week Tonight was excellent as always.

it figured that Nine Inch Nails would perform on one of the most surreal episodes of Twin Peaks EVER. thank god i could pause the television. the brainstorm on top of the mindfuck was coming at me a thousand miles per hour. i needed the break just to compose thoughts to be able to write them down for a poem.

I'm Dying Up Here was pretty funny last night.

Power was excellent last night. i can't wait to see where this season goes.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

sunshine, where have you been

we actually had more than a few minutes of sunshine today, so i decided to feed the birds. a couple of the feeders were still frozen, so i only filled the ones i could open easily. i definitely can see me getting rid of some feeders as my arthritis gets worse, that's for sure.

i sent out 28 poems today; 3 to Winedrunk Sidewalk and 5 each to Nerve Cowboy, Moran Press, Bop Dead City, Synchronized Chaos and Otoliths. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

Fuck, That's Delicious was an extended look at their trip to Japan.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty fucking good last night.

The Big Bang Theory was really funny last night.

Life in Pieces was good as well.

Baskets was brilliant last night. season 2 is just as good as season 1.

the New York Rangers won last night 2-1 in OT over Buffalo. i'm not exactly sure why the Rangers play so much better on the road this season. they now have 18 wins away from home. that leads the entire league.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Treehouse Masters and Real Time with Bill Maher.

the USA men's national team has a soccer friendly tonight against Jamaica. hopefully they can build from their last game and actually score tonight. i know the coach is changing the formation, so that should trigger some good things.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after the Dayton Flyers play at home against Duquesne. the game is a sell out and will be seen on NBCSN.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. be sure you get your Super Bowl bets in on time.

i hate driving in the rain

i made sure i got enough sleep, but do you know how fucking hard it is to stay awake while driving in the rain? i think i must have yawned damn near the whole way to Columbus. that's almost 72 miles of yawning by the way. mom then had me get off on the wrong exit. that was fun. i got her to the hotel in plenty of time. as i told her, i don't drive to enjoy the scenery. i drive because i have someplace to fucking go. i stayed around until she got on the shuttle bus to go to her conference. the drive home was rather interesting. the rain finally stopped and there was about 10 of us wondering who had the balls to pass the guy driving the sheriff's vehicle. i decided i was the one, especially when i knew this fucker had been driving 85 in a 65 mph zone for about 10 miles. so i flew past him and he didn't give a shit. good times. i wanted to make sure i made it to the post office by 1:30 this afternoon. at 1:27, i was pulling into the parking lot.

late last night, i sent off some poems via email. and i mailed another 5 out at the post office today. i sent 3 to Dead Snakes and 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash and Nerve Cowboy. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

Lucha Underground last night was very interesting. i'm not sure if Pentagon Jr. was really injured or did a fucking fantastic job of selling it. i do know the look on Vampiro's face at the end of the show means there is going to be some dark shit later on this season. that's always a good thing.

NXT was a bit of a filler show as Takeover: Dallas will be live tomorrow night. honestly, the NXT card is better than the WrestleMania card this year. more on that tomorrow.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight (weather permitting) will be The Big Bang Theory, the season finale of Life in Pieces, Lip Sync Battle and WWE Smackdown. after Smackdown is over i will be flipping to WWE Network to check out the Stone Cold Podcast with Mick Foley.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Carolina. i'm interested to see how Eric Staal plays in his first game back in Carolina.

hard to imagine that the baseball season is going to start soon. of course, the New York Yankees have some injuries already, so they are in mid season form.

it is storming again here, so my arthritis is in full hate mode at the moment. so i think i'm cutting this one off here.

i'll be on tomorrow morning as there is no way i'll fit a post in on Friday night. between having to drive back up to Columbus and back and have dinner at my sister's condo while also trying to get home for the NXT event... the last thing i want is to try to squeeze a blog into that clusterfuck.

i hope this finds everyone dry, except in the places where you shouldn't be...

on the eve of something i guess

as you might notice, i've begun changing the blog. i have no clue what the final product will end up looking like, i just know i want it to look different. it's sort of the reason why i shave every once in awhile; i just need a fucking change. so, be patient, i'll still post everyday. just think of it like a construction site. but i won't be handing out speeding tickets.

i got my new webcam in the mail today. the postal carrier and i might have a talk here soon. he stuffed the box into the mailbox. and i know if i had problems pulling it out, the asshole that put it in there had problems as well. but, the camera works, so... looks like i might be doing a YouTube video on my 40th birthday tomorrow.

i heard back from Nerve Cowboy yesterday on my submission from last September. they decided to pass. well, at least i have 5 poems now ready to send somewhere else. i'll most likely be doing that tomorrow as well.

the New York Rangers won last night 3-2 in OT over Vancouver. i was happy with the win and even more happy that they had over 40 shots on goal. maybe the screams of SHOOT THE FUCKING PUCK from the living room were actually heard for a change.

when the Dayton Flyers were up by 31 last night, i figured they were going to win. but, seeing i've been a fan for my entire life and know what happens when they have big leads, i didn't turn the game off. as usual, Dayton tried to give the game away to St. Bonaventure, but the lead ended up being too big. Dayton won 85-79. they next play Sunday at Fordham.

Total Divas last night was pretty damn funny.
i think the only reason i watch this show is to laugh my ass off.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

i'll be watching NXT tonight on WWE Network. other than that, i'll probably just be flipping through the channels.

we did get some snow this morning, maybe an inch or so. i think it depends on the track of the next storm to see how much we get tomorrow night into Friday morning. it may be nothing or it could be close to a foot. good times.

i did listen to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today with Chris Hero. i highly recommend it.

not sure what is going to happen tomorrow. i'm really just going to treat it as just another day. i don't think we've done anything "special" for one of my birthdays in years, so i'm not expecting anything tomorrow.

i hope this finds everyone warm and a little drunk.

what could be more fun than being dead tired while standing in line at the bank

i think i finally fell asleep around 4 in the morning. by 8 i was up and ready to get cracking on the poems. i got some positive feedback from my latest YouTube video, so i think i was running on that juice.

i sent out 27 poems today, 5 each to Carcinogenic Poetry, Big Hammer and Nerve Cowboy. 3 each to Napalm and Novocain, Pyrokinection, Dead Snakes and Mad Swirl. when i hear back from those places, i'll pass along the verdicts. i held 9 poems back for 2 other places that i'm waiting to send to.

when i walked into the bank today, the line was nearly out to the outside lobby. i was behind these two black girls, i'm saying girls because they looked like they were maybe out of high school. now, the problem i have with attractive black women in public wearing next to nothing is i will look at them and think of which web cam girl they remind me of. and since the one i was standing behind had shorts on that nearly covered all of her ass, i had about 100 names running through my head. all this while listening to the two black women behind me talk about sororities at the university of Cincinnati. there probably should be a study done on my brain some day.

i had mixed results with my fantasy football. i have a decent lead in one, a deficit i should be able to come back from in another and let's just say i had my ass handed to me in the other one. i'm down 61 points and my opponent still has Aaron Rodgers to play tonight. i have 3 guys going and i know i have no fucking chance. i did much better in my picks though, if Green Bay wins tonight, i'll have 11 wins for the week.

the VICE special on the prison system last night was good. sadly, i already know most of the shit they talked about given the number of people i have known that have gone to prison. but, if you are ignorant or don't think the system is broken, i urge you to watch it. here's a clip from it:

The Strain was excellent last night. it set up a holy shit i can't wait for the season finale next week. the season finale of Ray Donovan was great. that had an oh shit ending as well. for that matter, so did the season finale of Masters of Sex. Last Week Tonight was excellent as always:

time for some music kids:

now some of this and that:
i believe i may have found the most amazing looking woman on the planet. that video will haunt my damn dreams until the day i die.

the New York Yankees won yesterday 6-1. they took 3 out of 4 against the White Sox. that takes the magic number down to 3 to clinch a playoff spot. they start a series tonight against Boston. it would be nice to clinch a spot against those fuckers.

the New Orleans Saints did pretty much what i thought they would do yesterday. they kept it close but ultimately lost 27-22. they next play against Dallas. Drew Brees hopes to play in the game. i won't get my hopes up.

tonight is the usual clusterfuck on the DVR. since i will be flipping between Monday Night Raw, Monday Night Football, the baseball game and the New York Rangers vs. Philadelphia, recording on the DVR will be Gotham, The Voice, The Big Bang Theory and Life in Pieces. good thing i don't give two shits about sleep.

sometime tonight i'll vacuum the house (probably before the shows start) and make some dinner. i was hoping to make some soup but all we have is cream of whatever and nothing like i was hoping to have. so i'm probably going with gourmet grilled cheese tonight. mom left money for me but i doubt i go out to get anything.

that's all for me today kids. i need to get going so i can maybe get a cat nap as well tonight. i hope everyone had a great weekend. no one called, so i doubt anyone needed bail money. that's a shame.

depression and easter candy...

today on the 5th day of National Poetry Month, i'd like to shine a little light on another zine i absolutely fucking love, Nerve Cowboy.

Nerve Cowboy is one of the zines i am most proud of to be published by. the quality of the work within each issue is on par with ANY zine in the world, small press, academic, snob poetry, etc. do yourself a favor and go the site, http://www.nervecowboy.com/, click on chapbooks or subscriptions and support this wonderful magazine. it will be well worth your time and money.

i went over to the farm this morning to get all the trash down to the end of the lane. there was a ton of it. i'm sure the garbage men are going to be thrilled. of course, since today is a holiday, my sister and i got into it. my sister likes to think she runs shit when she comes down here. mom allows her to think that way too much (my opinion) so, every once in a while, i try to bring my sister back to reality. but god forbid tell her to shut her mouth when it comes to shit i want to keep at the new house. as i warned my mother, allowing my sister to buy her this house was going to give her full reign in her mind to do whatever the fuck she wants with it. and sure enough, slowly this is becoming like her place. i don't think my sister knows i heard her this morning after our little argument when she asked my mother if she has her will done or not. i took that as yet another shot at me and my depression and whatnot. i would think my sister and my mother would both know by now i will kill myself before i would do anything to them. they have already showed what i mean to them over the years by making sure to celebrate each holiday with the cousin that molested me. i'm the one that gets to grapple with loneliness. good times.

so, on that lovely note, on with this shit...

the New York Rangers whipped the shit out of the Devils last night, 6-1. that gives them 50 wins for the 4th time in franchise history. here are some highlights from the win:

i did watch most of the Final Four last night. i wasn't shocked that Wisconsin beat Kentucky. i was a little shocked at how easily Duke won. the Kentucky loss killed my main bracket, so i have no interest in the title game on Monday night. thankfully, there will be plenty of other shit on to watch.

i'm trailing badly in my fantasy hockey championship match. hopefully in this final week, the worm will turn.

for those of you concerned, my ankle is still attached to my body. it feels a little better today. i'm guessing that's because there's no rain in the area. now, most of next week i will be a pissy mess as it's supposed to rain just about every single fucking day. good times.

that's all for today. hope the Saturday night hangover isn't fucking with you too bad today.

response from Nerve Cowboy

i heard back from the guys at Nerve Cowboy on my poetry submission from December 2014. my poem "just another hopeless romantic" has been accepted for publication. it will appear in NC #39, due out this summer.

Monday, December 1, 2014

back into the cold

it was damn near 60 degrees yesterday and i woke up this morning and it was around 32. welcome to December.

yesterday was pretty good for me, other than one of my fantasy football teams shitting the bed. plus, my fantasy hockey team came back to earth, so i made some changes on that. but, in real world type shit, it was a good day.

i got all the trash down to the end of the lane without completely destroying my back. plus, i wedged it all together good enough that the wind didn't blow any away.

the New Orleans Saints shocked the shit out of me and just about everyone else by going to Pittsburgh and beating the Steelers 35-32. they actually looked like the Saints team i was expecting to see this season. of course, the fucking Falcons won as well, so there is still a tie at the top of the sorry ass division. hopefully they can make a playoff run and continue to shock the world. and no, i didn't call my sister to rub it in that the Saints beat her team.

The Newsroom was excellent last night. only two more episodes left in the series.

i did get some sleep last night as i wanted to make sure i was up this morning when my mother had to leave to go to Columbus.

of course, she hasn't called, so i'm assuming she made it there. i figure if i don't hear from her by this evening, i'll have to start blowing up phones.

so, since i'm home alone until tomorrow night, today was a day of poetry and porn. just like the old days.

i sent out 19 poems today, 5 each to Nerve Cowboy and W.I.S.H. (Walking Is Still Honest) and 3 each to Pyrokinection, The Camel Saloon, and Dead Snakes. when i hear back from these places i'll pass along the verdicts.

tonight is my usual clusterfuck. the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Tampa. it's a very important game as the Rangers need to prove to themselves that they can beat this team. or at the very least, someone put the former captain through the fucking boards for a change. The Voice has the top 8 performing tonight. not sure how much i will watch as i will be watching Monday Night Raw. i'm interested to see how many CM Punk chants break out tonight. also, i'll be watching the Men in Blazers show on NBCSN. throw on top of all that the Monday Night Football game and you can see why i need the Elvis wall of televisions. at least i have been told that we will be getting a DVR when we move. so, at least part of me will be entering the 21st century.

at some point tonight i need to shower, so i'm guessing it will be one of my notorious 2 in the morning showers.

mom just called so at least i know she made it up there.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone had a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your time.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

bitter realities...

as i was sitting alone at the Dayton Flyers game, and by alone, i mean i was the only fucking person sitting in the row 3 minutes before the game was getting ready to start, i quickly had a realization that this is exactly how my future is going to be. not a pretty sight, but a realistic one. with that being said, the guy who almost let me get up before he walked in front of me and the kid constantly kicking my seat from behind me is god openly laughing at me. it all makes sense now.

as for the game, it was a sloppy foul fest that resulted in Dayton beating Southern Indiana 96-66. hopefully that's a sign they won't play down to their competition this season. but, i'd love to see the defense get much, much better. they play their first game of the regular season on Friday.

let's get the poetry news out of the way. in the past 12 hours i have heard back from Nerve Cowboy, Pyrokinection and Napalm and Novocain on my poetry submissions from April (NC) and October. all 11 poems have been passed on. i suppose there is my rotten cherry to top off this weekend. well, i suddenly have a new batch of poems to send out.

the New York Rangers lost last night 5-4 to Toronto. thankfully, i didn't see any of the game. they play again tonight against Edmonton at home.

i did get home in time to watch most of the second half of the Ohio State game. to say i was surprised would be a mild understatement. Ohio State whipped Michigan State on the ROAD 49-37. maybe the Buckeyes are ready for the big time once again. i truly enjoyed that victory beer.

i did watch some boxing last night. it was more like watching the elderly get beat for 12 rounds. plus, i stayed up and watched an excellent new episode of ROH. i would love to see them get a big tv deal and really get the exposure they deserve.

Manchester United won 1-0 yesterday against Crystal Palace. Juan Mata scored the winner in the second half. i'd love to say the boys played great but they didn't. of course, with all the damn injuries they have i'm just pleased they got the 3 points for the win.

today is my usual clusterfuck. the New Orleans Saints play in about 45 minutes against the 49ers. i picked against them once again hoping they will win. it's worked the last 2 times. after the first quarter or so, i have to go with my mother and sister to look at houses. needless to say, i'm not happy about that. luckily we're driving separately so you can take a wild guess who will be leaving early. the Rangers play around 6 tonight so i'll get to watch most of that before the Sunday night shows start. The Newsroom starts its final season tonight on HBO. i love that show. also tonight, i believe the season finale of Last Week Tonight airs. over on Showtime i'll be watching Homeland and The Affair. yet another late night for me.

on top of all that, i'm going to try to keep track of my fantasy football and hockey teams. good times. hockey is going pretty good for me this week. as for football, at least i don't have many injuries to worry about this week.

i have fed the cats and the trash is picked up. of course, my back is killing me from cleaning the kitty litter. could that be the excuse that gets me out of looking at houses today? find out tomorrow...

hope everyone is having a good weekend. my mother is improving, thanks for asking. thanks for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

batten down the hatches

before the floods come, here are your daily links for national poetry month:

i have prepared myself for a week of pain as it is supposed to rain every single fucking day this week. can't wait to see what the grass looks like after this crazy week.

i typed up the 2 poems i wrote over the weekend. i think they are pretty good. i sent out my last submission of this month today by sending 5 poems out to Nerve Cowboy. that was a fun line to wait in at the post office. the hot brunette with the nice ass and wedding ring in front of me and the 3 old ladies bitching about not enough places to play bingo behind me. those poems will be coming soon i imagine. when i hear back from Nerve Cowboy, i'll pass along the verdict.

well, i made it through most of the Sunday night shows last night. Total Divas got left out as sleep won. but, i'll catch that a little later today. Nurse Jackie was really good once again. the final song in Californication blew me away. i was able to find that on iTunes. Silicon Valley and Veep were also very funny. but, the winner of the night goes to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. that was crazy good for a first episode. i can't recommend the show enough. MUST WATCH, it's that good. i'm going to try to make my mother watch it here in a bit.

thankfully, that show ended in time for me to watch the final outs of the Yankees winning 3-2 last night with just 3 hits. Tanaka was "bad" for him, which really made me laugh. 6 1/3 with 2 runs and 4 walks and 11 strikeouts. god, i wish they could all be that "bad". if he continues to get better this season, he's going to be rewriting record books. another series win, which is how you have good seasons. they are off tonight and then welcome the Mariners to town. the return of Cano. i'll be interested to see how the crowd reacts to him.

as for tonight, the usual struggle between The Voice and Monday Night Raw. also, some playoff hockey and playoff basketball that will manage to creep in as well. plus, with the weather being fucking crazy at the moment, probably some of The Weather Channel as well. of course, all of that depends if the satellite feed stays strong. it has a tendency to crap out when the weather gets really bad. could be a night of writing by candlelight, who knows.

that's all for today folks. you'll notice some "new" music down below. i do believe it is official, i have lost my mind. i'll be on here tomorrow sometime in the afternoon or early evening.

peace and chicken grease.

from the bottom of hell to the top of the damn mountain

before i take all of you on a fucking rollercoaster, here are your links for national poetry month:

last night was one of those sports nights from hell. the Yankees got the living shit beat out of them, 13-1. then, the New York Rangers lost game 4 of their playoff series 2-1. to say i was a little pissed last night would be a huge understatement. thankfully, i found some tunes on iTunes to change my mood and i was able to get some sleep.

thankfully, today has been much, MUCH better. Manchester United looked like the United of old, especially in the second half, winning 4-0. it was a little emotional watching Ryan Giggs walk out in a suit to manage the team. and i did feel a great bit of pride when they won. watching 4 of the lads from the Class of 1992 walk off together as winners was awesome to see. hopefully the last 3 games of the season can be just the same.

after that, i caught a great deal of the New York Yankees winning 4-3. it was great to see the bullpen come through big time today. hopefully they can win the series tomorrow night.

a big thank you to my friend Michelle for stopping by today. it was so nice to finally meet you. and i do hope you enjoy the broadsides.

took my mother to the store to get our drugs and some other things we needed. i'm a little concerned with how drained she gets by just doing little, simple things. hopefully this will get better with time. i don't think any of us thought the surgery would take this much out of her.

as for tonight, not sure what i'll be watching. i do know i have a few victory beers to drink. and i think i might break out the rum as well. fuck, might as well. i've got one more load of my mother's clothes to fold and then i need to figure out what we're having for dinner. my best guess is the pizza in the freezer. that should go well with the beer.

i suppose i will be on here in the afternoon tomorrow. i know the Rangers play at noon in a MUST win game, so probably after that i'll be on here with the joy of winning or the agony of defeat.

be well my enemies. hope all of you are having a great weekend. make sure you get that new issue of Nerve Cowboy, #36. it is a great one.

some miracles come out of nowhere

i was watching the NFL game last night and somewhere around the 3rd quarter, i started to panic. my fantasy football team needed points from the 49ers defense, who quite frankly weren't doing shit. so, i ran to the computer and checked the scores. i was 4 points behind. then, after a punt return i was .4 points behind. fast forward to the 4th quarter and i'm still trailing. the Falcons had just scored and looked like they were getting ready to score again. and i'm muttering to myself, i need an interception returned for a touchdown, over and over again. and right after i mumble that this is what i get for trusting a defense ran by some fuck from Michigan, my early Christmas miracle happens. an interception returned for a touchdown. i immediately ran to the computer to watch the score get updated. i won the game by 8 points or so. not bad when i was trailing by 13 to start the night. i'm really thankful my mother wasn't filming me as i was one of these over jubilant assholes acting nuts. i think she was more thankful that nothing was going to be destroyed now. so, i'll be in the finals of this league as well. first time in the decade plus i've been playing in multiple leagues that i have gone to the finals in 2 of them in the same year. hopefully i do a much better job in this final.

and to go from that elation to the good news from Nerve Cowboy today was simply amazing. and the poem they accepted is one of my recent favorites. i'll pimp that issue for sure when it comes out.

the New York Rangers did something last night that i'm not accustomed to this season; win 2 games in a row. a 2-1 shootout victory over Toronto. of course, the game never should have gone to overtime, but i'll gladly take the 2 points. it's very apparent the officials need some time off as well. here are the highlights:

i didn't watch much of Monday Night Raw at all last night. it was taped last week, so i already knew what was going to happen. i did like the news of Batista returning. that should make for some interesting story lines. plus, he returns on the Raw the day before my birthday.

not sure what i'm going to watch this evening. maybe A Christmas Story, maybe the college football game, hell, maybe i'll just write this evening away. i did have a little fun decorating my art set last night. a good place for some stickers. maybe i'll break out some of that and do some art tonight. given how fucking cold it is here, i might just sleep.

not sure what i'm going to do on Christmas day. i get the feeling mom and i might end up at Waffle House. that might make for some interesting poems. i do have planned what i'm going to put on this blog tomorrow. stay tuned.

wherever you are in the world, i hope you have a wonderful Christmas or whatever you choose to celebrate. be safe, be well, enjoy it.

response from Nerve Cowboy

i heard back from the guys at Nerve Cowboy on my poetry submission from back in July. my poem "what it all means" has been accepted for publication. it will appear in #36, the winter 2013/14 issue.
