a new week with old problems...

first off, let's get the poetry news out of the way. i heard back from Nerve Cowboy on my poetry submission from back in February. they decided to pass on the poems. at least they did apologize for the delay in their response.

i also wrote 3 more poems last night. i got on a wild brainstorm last night while watching Twin Peaks. more on that later. i typed up the poems this morning and really, really liked them. i'm shooting for sending out another round of submissions in the next couple of days.

Old Timer's Day yesterday was a good dose of nostalgia. and sadly, it was more entertaining than most of the Yankees game yesterday. Texas got up 7-0 before the Yankees did anything. they ended up losing 7-6. oh well. thankfully, the division sucks this year and the Yankees, losers of their last 10 out of 12, are still tied for first place. they start a series tonight in Chicago against the White Sox.

the Confederations Cup went pretty much how i thought it would yesterday. Germany defeated Cameroon 3-1 and Chile did just enough to advance in a 1-1 draw with Australia. that sets up the semifinals of Portugal vs. Chile and Germany vs. Mexico. that should be a nice preview of potential World Cup matches next year.

the season finale of Veep last night was hilarious.

the season finale of Silicon Valley was really good.

Last Week Tonight was excellent as always.

it figured that Nine Inch Nails would perform on one of the most surreal episodes of Twin Peaks EVER. thank god i could pause the television. the brainstorm on top of the mindfuck was coming at me a thousand miles per hour. i needed the break just to compose thoughts to be able to write them down for a poem.

I'm Dying Up Here was pretty funny last night.

Power was excellent last night. i can't wait to see where this season goes.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i might check out the NBA Awards tonight for shits and giggles.

i will be on here early tomorrow as mom's physical therapy appointment got moved to tomorrow afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

a cool breeze in June...

yesterday was as close to perfect with the weather as any reasonable human around here could expect. sunshine, a light breeze, barely any humidity and 72 degrees. it's fucking rare to be able to turn the air conditioner off and open the windows in June around here.

i ended up writing 7 poems yesterday. i typed them up in the afternoon and really, really like a few of them. if i get a chance, i might do another round of submissions before the month is up.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 8-1. the only highlight was the solo home run from Aaron Judge. at least the game was boring enough that i could take a damn nap. today is Old Timer's Day at the stadium. that will probably be more entertaining than the game.

ROH was excellent last night.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade last night. here is the link:
Banditos - Visionland, Etc.

i did see a bit of the Confederations Cup yesterday. Portugal beat New Zealand 4-0 and Mexico came from behind yet again and defeated Russia 2-1. Portugal won group A and will face the second place team in group B in the semifinals. Mexico will play the winner of group B. the matches today are Chile vs. Australia and Germany vs. Cameroon. i'll be absolutely shocked if Chile and Germany don't move on.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Week Tonight, Power, Twin Peaks: The Return and I'm Dying Up Here.

i'm was pleased with a few of the players the New York Rangers took yesterday in the NHL draft. hopefully they actually turn into useful players for the team in a few years.

i got a wild hair up my ass this morning and actually made breakfast and coffee for mom this morning. she was a little surprised. of course, i will probably have to do the dishes twice today. that's what i get for making meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for dinner last night.

i hope everyone had a wonderful Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

i never did like this day

this is my first Father's Day with the knowledge that my father is dead. i'm not exactly sure how i'm going to react to shit today. i've already seen commercials that have made me fucking sick to my stomach. it reminds me of watching my neighbor play catch with his son when i was a teenager, wondering why the fuck my father couldn't find the time to do that with me. this has a day of alcohol written all over it.

for those of you that had great fathers or still enjoy the company of your father, here's a touching music video for you people:

the New York Yankees broke out the whipping stick last night and beat the Tigers 14-3. that capped off a nearly perfect day at Yankee Stadium. Old Timer's Day was excellent as usual. the ceremony to honor Willie Randolph was good:
but, the moment that got me was the surprise plaque for Mel Stottlemyre:
as you might imagine, given how much cancer has played a role in my adult life, i was wiping tears for the next hour or so. thankfully, the Old Timer's game itself had a few laughs in it:

ROH was excellent last night. of course, anytime you have an episode with Nakamura and AJ Styles on it, it's going to be great.

Power was great last night. i loved the ending and how many layers this season has already started.

i wrote 2 poems last night, so that made 3 for the day. i typed those 3 up late last night and i think they are really good. not sure when i'll send them out, sort of depends on when other poems gets published.

enjoy another musical interlude:

it appears my breakfast didn't want to stay in my body as long as i wanted it to. thankfully, i made it to the toilet in time. i suppose, it would have been more appropriate that i didn't for today.

my afternoon today will be a mix of baseball and soccer. my evening will be jam packed with some new shows on HBO. i'm really looking forward to the new season of True Detective. the first season was damn near perfect, so i have high hopes for this one. after that, two new shows come on; Ballers and The Brink. hopefully i will enjoy both of them. over on Showtime will be Nurse Jackie, Happyish and Penny Dreadful. the night will close out with Last Week Tonight on HBO. given that i'm running on about 4 hours of sleep at the moment, you can bet that i will be using the DVR for all of that.

i really hope the Yankees win today as it is painfully obvious i really need a fucking drink.

for those good fathers out there, i hope you enjoy your day. for the pieces of shit like my own was, do yourself a favor and just fucking try. i know i would have respected my father about a trillion times more than i do now if he just would have put forth some kind of fucking effort. but, that ship has sailed. if you truly don't want your children to hate you until the end of time, take advantage of the present and be something resembling a man.

to all the single mothers out there who have to play both roles of parent, i hope you enjoy the day as well. god knows, you certainly deserve to do so.

i hope your weekend is going good. i actually got a few things done yesterday and it was dry enough to clean out the water logged bird feeders. there is nothing worse than bird seed that has gone bad. it's like trying to clean out pure shit. the kind of shit that stinks to high heaven. that smell and the smell of death are trapped in my head forever.

on that good note, i wish everyone adieu

these damn dreary days

i woke up this morning and it was still raining. everything outside looks like a wet dog. i'm really hoping the sun comes out at some point today. maybe just even to open the fucking windows for a bit.

i did write a poem this morning. i haven't typed it up as i'm hoping for more poems to come. nothing quite like having a line come to you when you're taking the morning shit. and when it involves jesus and boobs, you know you have something.

enjoy a musical interlude as i go get a glass of water:

the New York Yankees won last night, 7-2. Adam Warren pitched great, Brett Gardner went 4-5 but all the headlines are about A-Rod getting his 3,000th hit:
today is Old Timer's Day at Yankee Stadium. they will be honoring Willie Randolph with a plaque in Monument Park. today will be the classic nostalgia fuck i always enjoy.

i didn't get done what i wanted to last night. so, i'm hoping i can do that today. i also know i need to vacuum and probably help mom in the garage. and if it fucking rains all day long, maybe i'll sneak in a nap somewhere.

here's some funny shit from last night:

on television today i'll be flipping through some soccer as the Women's World Cup starts back up, the Copa America, some baseball, avoiding golf as much as possible and like i usually do, i'll find some music channel to just zone out to.

tonight on the DVR i will have Power and ROH.

i guess i missed one hell of a show last night from ROH. i'm sure i'll see some highlights from it popping up on tv or YouTube here soon.

since it's the weekend, enjoy another video:

i hope everyone has a great weekend. hopefully you have better weather than i do. go enjoy it. get drunk in the arms of a stranger and remember to only fuck the ones that cough.

a little story about life on the farm, etc.

so, last night i go to check to see if the back door is locked. i happen to look out the window and see a black cow about 4 feet from the door eating on some weeds. i go to get my mother and tell her "You've gotta fucking see this." She looks out the window and sees nothing, i'm thinking great, i'm having an acid flashback. i hit the outside flood lights and she says "Oh shit!" and flings open the back door. 2 cows and a steer. i go get a flashlight and get all the outside lights on. a phone call and some careful walking in the dark by smell and as far as i know, the cows were back on the farm next door. drenched in sweat, i went upstairs to find a fan and flip between Ring of Honor and Cinemax.

there's a little slice of life in the sticks.

hard to think it's already July 1. but, today is christmas for sports junkies.

NHL and NBA free agency starts.
Old Timer's Day at Yankee Stadium.
EURO 2012 final (My heart says Spain, my gut says Italy, i really just want to be entertained.)

i see a nice long day with the a/c and my chair watching some tv. racing to the computer to confirm some rumors and then a rest period on the shitter. hopefully i won't end up bored out of my mind. hype is such a double edged sword at times.
