why i do my best to avoid reality...

when i went out and got the mail today, i saw a letter for my mom and feared what it was about. turns out, my fears were correct. my mother's disability claim got denied today. she's spent the afternoon talking to lawyers because these dumb fucks believe my mother should be able to work as a school nurse. i'm not sure how she can do that when i have to drive her everywhere and she doesn't have the necessary certificates to be a school nurse. what truly pisses me off in this ordeal is the doctor that said she could do this is the fucker who told mom when she went to the appointment to see him, what are you doing here? it's obvious from the x-rays and MRI, you have spinal stenosis. you're not faking anything. the other kicker is the one doctor she went to disputed his claims. so, the insurance company kicked it to our family doctor, who just happened to go to medical school with the asshole who said mom could work. our family doctor agreed with his classmate. that's why the claim was denied. my mother told me when i got home from the bank that she was so fucking angry she couldn't even cry. thankfully, mom did find an attorney that wants to look into this. at least i know where all my stress will be coming from for the next few weeks.

on the poetry front, i contacted Moran Press about the mini-chapbook of mine that was accepted back in February of 2017. i guess the poetry editor left and things have fallen behind, but they still very much want to do the project. so, hopefully this thing will see the light of day before i die.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i think maybe the company has figured out, if you want the fans to cheer for Roman Reigns, you need to keep him in The Shield. the upcoming program between them and Braun Strowman should be fascinating.

Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney was pretty good last night. they did show a few more things than when they originally aired it. i do love the early Beatles stories.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, The Jim Jefferies Show, Deadliest Catch, Fuck That's Delicious, Miz and Mrs. and Hard Knocks. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Yankees start a 2 game series tonight down in Florida against the Marlins. hopefully the Yankees will keep on winning.

the trip to the bank was good today. i had a nice amount to deposit. good timing, as i got a bill in the mail today. i was hoping the woman from the last time was going to be working today. of course, given my luck, you know she wasn't.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i know i have trash to pickup now, so that's the end of today's festivities.

until tomorrow kids...

with the threat of severe weather

there's this massive cold front that is supposed to come through here this evening. my bones have been feeling like shit for hours. fucking joy. and once the cold front comes through, there will be a chance for snow. Ohio, if you hate the weather, wait ten minutes and then fucking complain.

i wrote 10 poems last night and typed them up this afternoon. i really like all 10 of them. a few will be used in my next round of submissions, which should happen before the week is over.

i also heard from Moran Press today on my 5 poem collection. they are looking to set up a little publicity before it comes out, so i need to send a poem and a picture. i guess it's time to come out of the cave again. when i get more info or links to the project, i'll be sure to pass them along. hopefully, you will pass them along as well.

Smackdown was great last night. i was so happy for Tye Dillinger and Shinsuke Nakamura. they are both finally on a main roster. i guess the roster shakeup will really determine what direction both shows are going to go in.

205 Live was excellent last night as well. i love that they are continuing the feud between Austin Aries and Neville.

The Voice was good last night. i was a little surprised at who Blake used his steal on, but he's won the show enough to know better than i do.

the New York Yankees won their first game of the season last night, 5-0. they will go for the series win tonight down at that dump in Tampa.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Total Divas. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers play tonight on the road against Washington. the team is choosing rest over sharpness going into the playoffs, so i'm not expecting much out of these final games.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the grocery store. mom already started a damn scroll of things i need to get. oh joy.

response from Moran Press

i heard back from Stephen at Moran Press on my recent poetry submission. my poems "the little brown bottles", "women in prison", "end this charade", "easter sunday" and "some things you never forget" have been accepted for a 5 poem mini-chapbook. more info on that in the upcoming weeks.

sunshine, where have you been

we actually had more than a few minutes of sunshine today, so i decided to feed the birds. a couple of the feeders were still frozen, so i only filled the ones i could open easily. i definitely can see me getting rid of some feeders as my arthritis gets worse, that's for sure.

i sent out 28 poems today; 3 to Winedrunk Sidewalk and 5 each to Nerve Cowboy, Moran Press, Bop Dead City, Synchronized Chaos and Otoliths. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

Fuck, That's Delicious was an extended look at their trip to Japan.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty fucking good last night.

The Big Bang Theory was really funny last night.

Life in Pieces was good as well.

Baskets was brilliant last night. season 2 is just as good as season 1.

the New York Rangers won last night 2-1 in OT over Buffalo. i'm not exactly sure why the Rangers play so much better on the road this season. they now have 18 wins away from home. that leads the entire league.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Treehouse Masters and Real Time with Bill Maher.

the USA men's national team has a soccer friendly tonight against Jamaica. hopefully they can build from their last game and actually score tonight. i know the coach is changing the formation, so that should trigger some good things.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after the Dayton Flyers play at home against Duquesne. the game is a sell out and will be seen on NBCSN.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. be sure you get your Super Bowl bets in on time.
