the Dayton Flyers won last night but of course suffered another injury. they were already playing the game against La Salle without one of their guards, Darrell Davis. late in the second half last night, Charles Cooke got undercut and fell awkwardly on the floor. he was diagnosed with a bruised lower back, which i know fucking sucks. i doubt he'll be ready to go on Tuesday when they play at St. Bonaventure. but, the Flyers did win last night 66-55. they held La Salle nearly 30 points under their scoring average. it's always good to start off conference play with a win.
i didn't watch much of the first 75 minutes of the Manchester United game this morning as i was doing that stuff with my sister. mom explained to me the goal that got disallowed. when i saw the highlight i was furious. when she told me that Middlesbrough had scored, i was even more furious. but, thankfully on the birthday of Sir Alex Ferguson, the boys decided to have a blast from the past. trailing 1-0 after 85 minutes, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba scored within minutes of each other for a dramatic 2-1 come from behind victory. oh, just like the old days. United plays again on Monday at West Ham.
well, at least i know i will be having one drink tonight.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.
i have to go to the grocery store to get some things mom wants, so i'm gearing myself up for a nice shit show.
team USA plays Canada today in the final group game in the World Juniors. since they are playing in Toronto, i would absolutely love to see the USA pull off the upset.
the New York Rangers play tonight out in Colorado. hopefully they will ring in the new year with a victory.
Ohio State plays Clemson tonight in the Fiesta Bowl. if they win, they will advance to the national championship game. it's scary to think that Ohio State made it into the final four on a rebuilding year.
i don't really have any lavish plans to ring in the new year tonight. i will probably be drinking and most likely writing, like i have done for the last few years.
i did get a copy of the book Maiden by Karina Bush in the mail yesterday. look for that review in the first few days of 2017. before that, if you can find a copy anywhere, buy it. you will not be disappointed.
i will probably remember 2016 for all of the deaths that struck me so closely, especially in the world of music. i'll also remember it as the first time i ever got to see the New York Yankees play in person. and finally as a year that my writing took a giant leap forward in its consistency. i absolutely hope 2017 is better for everyone on this planet. the pessimist in me just chuckled.
if you're going out and about tonight, be safe. for my international readers, happy new year already. for everyone, call if you need bail money.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.
peace and chicken grease...
