embrace the pain

there is nothing sadder than looking at yourself in the mirror after the hockey team you have lived and died with since you were a child loses in double overtime in the Stanley Cup Final. and then trying to not break down like a child when you start to shave off the playoff beard. it's more than just a punch to the gut. it's like the lord has rolled up the newspaper and is now rubbing your face in an endless pile of shit. and i still need to eat breakfast.

the Rangers lost 3-2 in 2OT to end their season. congrats to the Kings. they are a great team. why the refs thought they constantly needed help in the series is beyond me, but that's just a bitter fan talking. Henrik was great once again but when it mattered, no one could score a fucking goal. lose 3 overtime games in a series and trust me, this will haunt every member of that team if they actually give a shit. i do expect them to make some big changes in the offseason. hopefully getting rid of some of that top heavy dead weight will go a long way to getting them back to the promised land again. and i certainly don't want to go another 20 years before they make it this far again. thank you boys for a great ride. and thank you to my razors for still working after not being touched for months.

the Yankees won their 4th win in a row last night, 7-0. Phelps pitched WAY better than he has in something like EVER. and the bats are FINALLY starting to show signs of life. they play again tonight out in Oakland.

the World Cup yesterday was pretty interesting. Mexico won 1-0 in a game where they were robbed of 2 goals that should have counted. Chile won 3-1 against an Australia side that showed more fight than people thought they had. but the shocker of the day was the Netherlands DESTROYING Spain 5-1. when RVP scored the goal right around the end of the first half, i immediately thought about how wonderful this will be when he is doing it for the same coach when they are both at Manchester United in a few months. and watching how Louis van Gaal manipulated his side filled me with some hope of what he will do at United.

today there are 4 games. Colombia vs. Greece. Uruguay vs. Costa Rica. Ivory Coast vs. Japan. and the big game of the day, England vs. Italy. that will be one juicy affair.

so you know what i'll be doing for most of the day.

the cold front FINALLY got through here and the weather is damn near perfect. if i wasn't so depressed last night, i might have actually enjoyed the windows being open and it feeling as cool as it was. i should be able to open up the house for most of the weekend.

plus, i'm sure the birds will be happy now that i'll start putting food out for them again. i don't like feeding them in the rain. mostly because i'm lazy.

i didn't get to bed until 4:30 in the morning. i was up again around 8. i'm guessing that at some point in the afternoon, some boring soccer is going to help me get some more sleep. and hopefully that will allow me to be awake when ROH comes on late tonight.

did some digging on iTunes last night to find some appropriate songs for my mood. you'll see those results below.

hope everyone has a great day. be well. enjoy the World Cup. hope for better officiating. and hopefully the England vs. Italy game doesn't disappoint.

peace my enemies...
