it gets easier to do so much when you don't sleep

i figure at the rate i'm living at the moment, i will be dead sometime in my 50's. i don't sleep worth a shit anymore and i certainly don't have a favorable view of anything any longer. if i get more than a few hours of sleep at a time anymore, i'm shocked. i constantly find myself waking up to see how mom's doing. i noticed when i changed her dressing last night, it looked like she has some pus or something near her incision. the nurse comes again on the weekend i believe. i showed mom what it looked like and since she, the medical professional, didn't seemed alarmed by it, i figure i shouldn't be either. hopefully it looks better when i do it again tonight.

the New York Yankees scored early and often last night and defeated Baltimore 8-3. they will go for the series win tonight.

i thought Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was pretty good as well last night. i get the feeling that Austin Aries is going to win this Sunday against Neville.

Deadliest Catch was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i got some great FREE music this morning on NoiseTrade. links will be below in the music section.

mom's physical therapist is supposed to be here soon. i figure once she's gone, mom will need to get some sleep. and when that happens, i can go to the grocery store without anything happening while she's here alone. that's why i'm doing the blog now as i have no clue when i'll be back from the grocery store.

it's hard to believe that the end of May is already here. as i tell my mother all the time, time flies on the back side of the circle.

i might check out some of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight. hopefully Nashville will win so this will actually be a competitive series.

that's all for me kids.

humbling, to say the least

helping my mother put on her clothes, walk, etc. while i certainly don't mind doing it, i can't help but think i will end up having to do all this shit by myself when it comes my time. hell, i struggle to do basic shit as it is now. this is when hindsight will remind me it would have been better for me to be a charming motherfucker than a passionate soul who alienates everyone. i guess i'm going to have to hope for an early death or a surprise or two in the will.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 3-2 to Baltimore. hopefully they will get a victory tonight. i need a drink.

Gotham was fucking fantastic last night. the season finale next week looks like it should be amazing.

Monday Night Raw had some really good parts last night and some just god awful parts. the highlight of the night for me was the match between Samoa Joe, Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt. that was great.

i did watch a little of Game 1 between Pittsburgh and Nashville last night. when i saw the overturned goal call, i knew exactly who the league wants to win. as i told my mother, the last thing the NHL wants is hockey with a twang to become a thing.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown and Deadliest Catch. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i had to make a run today to Rite-Aid for some gauze pads, etc. i doubt it will be last trip there, maybe even for this month.

from doing her laundry last night and the dishes, my back is totally fucking killing me at the moment. and i still have the trash to pick up.

that's all for me kids.

happy Memorial Day

i hope everyone has a very happy Memorial Day. my thanks to everyone who has died for this country. my hope is that no one will have to die for it again, but i know that's not possible. at least not until humans no longer exist.

i sent out 16 poems this morning; 6 to The Chicago Record and 5 each to Easy Street and Otoliths. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

the New York Yankees got the first career grand slam from Aaron Judge yesterday to beat the A's 9-5. they start a series at Baltimore this afternoon.

i did watch a little of the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 yesterday.

Silicon Valley was hilarious last night.

Veep was even more hilarious last night.

Twin Peaks was an excellent mindfuck once again.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Gotham. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

the Stanley Cup Final starts tonight. i might check out a little bit of the game.

my one Memorial Day tradition is watching the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Finals. i will be watching that later today and for the first time ever, Ohio State will be playing in it.

my mother actually got some good sleep for a change. i know she's really looking forward to the bandages coming off. maybe then she'll feel good enough to sleep in a bed instead of the recliner.

i don't mind having my sister here, i'm just concerned if she actually knows there is something other than Golden Girls on the television. you would think she wouldn't continue to watch it after i bought her every episode for Christmas a few years ago. oh well.

i hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day. if you are actually enjoying the long holiday weekend, take it easy. for the rest of the world, hope you have a good Monday.

old memories come back like a flood...

i was in my early 20's in a wild relationship that had me coming home most nights and either drinking, crying, hitting things, or all of the above. i would usually put on Whipping Post and play it way too loud. that was one of the joys of living alone at the farm. i literally could do whatever the fuck i wanted. when the news of Gregg Allman dying yesterday hit, all those memories came racing back to me. i would spend hours upon hours listening to The Allman Brothers, sitting out on the porch, writing poems, drowning my soul in cheap liquor, whatever. so goodbye to one of the greatest. go have fun with your brother once again. rest in peace.

the New York Yankees only had 2 hits yesterday. they somehow managed to beat the A's 3-2. hopefully they can win the series this afternoon.

ROH was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Twin Peaks: The Return, Veep and Silicon Valley.

i will probably watch some of the Indianapolis 500 today, hoping that Juan Pablo Montoya can win another one.

and i will probably watch some of the Coca-Cola 600 tonight as well.

i've got the UFC from Sweden on the television as i'm typing this up. nothing like starting your Sunday off with some violence.

i wrote 3 poems last night. i typed them up last night as well. i really, REALLY like these 3. they will be part of my next submission, due to go out tomorrow morning.

i will probably watch a little of AS Roma's game today. Francesco Totti's last match is not one to miss.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

i guess i could buy a baby monitor...

i'm not exactly a light sleeper, but i really don't get more than 3 or 4 hours in a row at any point. so, when i thought i heard something last night/early this morning, i looked up and saw the light on in mom's bathroom. i made sure to sleep with my door open and the fan off so i could actually hear or see anything. i put on my glasses and went to her bathroom. she was really proud that she was able to get there on her own (using a walker). i imagine as the days go by, i'll get a little more comfortable with her doing that. my sister is going today to get a handrail to put in the floor by the toilet for mom. that should help her even more.

the nurse came this morning. it was mostly to take some pictures and all of mom's information. the physical therapist should be here before too long. the nurse reminded mom to take her pain pills before the therapist got here.

the New York Yankees got some great starting pitching last night. but, the bullpen shit the bed and the offense forgot to show up until late. the Yankees lost 4-1. hopefully they will beat Oakland this afternoon.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i figure i will probably watch the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea today, although i'll be rooting for both teams to lose.

i figure i also need to go to the drugstore to get some bigger ice packs for mom so we have more than 1 of them. i also need some shit for me as well.

i suppose at some point i will do a little more writing and get together another round of submissions before the end of the month.

i'm hoping it's not too fucking humid today. i know there is supposed to be the threat of storms. hello summer.

i hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. take it easy and then take it again.

and so it begins...

mom finally got released from the hospital today. she was very happy to break free as she put it. she wanted to get some food as soon as she left, so i took her through the Burger King drive-thru (her choice). once she got back home, it took her a little time to figure out the best place to sit, etc. she's now back in her room and my sister is here for the weekend. the home health nurse will be here tomorrow at some point. i figure if we can make it through the weekend without killing each other, we'll be off to a good start.

i did write 7 poems last night. that finished off a notebook i started in November of last year. 7 months ain't bad, at least for me. i typed the poems up before i went to get mom from the hospital. i think all of them are pretty good.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty fucking good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

nothing on the DVR tonight.

the New York Yankees start a series with the Oakland A's tonight. i hope they get a victory as i certainly need a drink.

i did watch a little of the basketball game last night. if Cleveland wins the finals again this year, i'll go ahead and anoint LeBron as the best basketball player EVER.

i ended up watching most of the hockey game last night. you can't ask for more than a Game 7 that goes into 2OT.  the Stanley Cup Final will be Nashville vs. Pittsburgh. i couldn't care less who wins.

i have no idea when i'll be on here tomorrow or at all this weekend. i get the feeling that my sister and i are going to be running around like chickens with our heads cut off while waiting for mom to make up her mind on what she wants and needs.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. if you are enjoying the Memorial Day weekend festivities wherever, be safe and be sure you have bail money.

one of those days where nothing goes right...

we got 2.9 inches of rain last night. i suppose that was a sign of things to come.

so i got a call from my mother this morning. i was expecting her to tell me what time to be at the hospital to take her home, etc. instead, she tells me that they aren't letting her leave. something to do with her sodium levels or something. i went up to the hospital later in the day and spent a couple hours with her. she called me again tonight to tell me they ordered a chest x-ray for her because of shortness of breath. i'm hoping that she's going to be released tomorrow or the Memorial Day holiday weekend is basically turning to shit.

i had a lovely experience while wiping my ass this morning. having a bad back is not a good thing in that moment. neither is having your left arch in your left foot decide that it is tired of life and wants out. these are the days where i look back at the 8 year old me and apologize.

to cap off this shitty day, i spilled a full glass of milk while i was working on the computer. a roll of paper towels later, i think i might have to replace the mouse before too long.

the New York Yankees got some great pitching from Luis Severino last night and defeated the Royals 3-0. today's game was a rain out. the Yankees start a series with the Oakland A's tomorrow night in the Bronx.

NXT was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Lip Sync Battle.

i will probably spend most of the night flipping between Game 7 of the Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa series and Game 6 of Boston vs. Cleveland.

i did listen to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. you can find that by going here:

an update and a return to glory...

i was up for 23 hours yesterday. i'm not exactly sure that's good, but after 5 hours of sleep, i was all ready to go today. mom's hip replacement went as expected. she's been able to get up and walk a little and remains on schedule to come home tomorrow. that is why i went to the grocery store after i was at the hospital today, figuring i better have some food in the house when she gets home. my sister will be down this weekend for the holiday and to help with mom. it's going to be interesting to see how she does. i do like that she really doesn't want me at the hospital. i don't mind that, as i would love for her to get some sleep and all the pain meds she can while she's there. of course, this hot ass nurse said hello to me today, so i might be at the hospital for most of tomorrow.

i wrote 10 poems yesterday while at the hospital. most of them were written while i was in the waiting room. oh by the way, since my aunt was getting her hip done just a few hours after mom, the cousin that molested me was there in the same waiting room as well. needless to say, the poems were flowing. i typed them up this morning and i really like most of them.

most of what i did after i got home was catch up on all the television i had missed.

Gotham was amazing. Deadliest Catch was really good. i enjoyed most of Monday Night Raw, Smackdown and 205 Live. and i was not shocked by who won The Voice:

the James Corden special was pretty fucking good.

the New York Yankees pissed away a lead last night after winning the night before. hopefully they can get a win tonight against the Royals.

i did catch a little of the hockey and basketball playoffs going on. mostly, i was really just hoping to sleep.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i did listen to the latest Jim Norton & Sam Roberts podcast. if you'd like to laugh your ass off, check it out by going here: https://soundcloud.com/jimandsamshow/ep-027-ricky-gervais

so about 10 seconds after i got home from the grocery store, i turned on the Manchester United game. it was just in time to see Paul Pogba score. i'm sure most of the neighborhood could hear me scream. United completely outclassed Ajax today and won the Europa League for the first time ever. by winning, it puts United back into the Champions League. now, the silly season of all the big names linked to the club can start again. after all that has gone on in Manchester this week, i'm so damn happy that the boys can bring back a trophy.
if this was the last time Wayne, it's been an absolute pleasure to watch you all these years. Thank You.

now, i will spend the rest of the evening getting drunk and trying to get some rest. i know tomorrow is going to be a hectic fucking day.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'm hoping to do one late, probably at night.

as chaos draws near...

i'm doing this a little early today as once i get a few things done and eat dinner, i'm off to bed. i have to have mom to the hospital by 5:30 in the morning tomorrow and i know i'm going to be an anxious fuck for the rest of the day until i know everything went as expected. good times.

a little poetry news to pass on. i heard back from Profane on my poetry submission from last week. they decided to pass. as luck would have it, a recent connection on LinkedIn asked me to send him some poems. so, i took my 3 favorite from those 5 rejected ones and sent them to October Hill Magazine. when i hear back from Richard, i'll pass on the verdict.

the New York Yankees got just enough pitching and offense yesterday, plus an incredible catch from Aaron Judge to defeat Tampa 3-2. they start a series back at home tonight against Kansas City.

WWE Backlash was pretty good to start off with last night. i can never get enough of Shinsuke Nakamura. plus, the tag title match was fucking great. i liked Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles up until the ending. and i had a feeling they were going to have Jinder Mahal win the WWE title from Randy Orton, especially given that the WWE Network is now available in India. sure enough... the shocked looks on the faces in the crowd made me howl with laughter.

Veep was fucking hilarious, as usual last night.

Silicon Valley was great last night.

Last Week Tonight was spectacular, as usual.

Twin Peaks: The Return was a great mind fuck, 25 years later. i didn't really get into the show much in the early 90's, but now being much more of a fan of David Lynch, i really enjoyed parts 1 & 2 last night. i certainly can't wait for the rest.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Voice, The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special, Gotham and Monday Night Raw.

i did watch Sweden defeat Canada yesterday in a shootout to win the 2017 World Championship. congrats to The King on an amazing gold medal game.

in a way, i suppose Boston beating Cleveland last night is the right kind of wake up call the Cavs needed. that loss should allow them to reset everything and be humble once again.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. if i am at all, it will be late in the evening. i'm not planning on spending the night at the hospital, god knows my back would be killing me if i even tried, but i have no clue how mom's surgery is going to go. plus, she doesn't do too well while on drugs, so i know i kind of have to be there until she comes out of the haze. i tell her all the time, this is what she gets for not doing any drugs as a teenager. each time i have been put under, i've enjoyed the fuck out of it.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

odds and ends and vomit and god knows what else...

it's always odd sitting in my room and thinking i'm hearing something. i suppose it's one part of being crazy that i tend to enjoy; sort of like my imagination having fun. but, today was not one of those moments. i was pretty sure i heard my mother throwing up in her room while i was watching Manchester united play. i went to check it out and sure enough. i want to think it's just the nerves with her hip replacement coming up in less than 48 hours. she seems to be ok as of right now, but i'm not going to seal up the trash bag just yet.

Manchester United did play a good number of kids today against Crystal Palace. it is always good to see that. it's even better when they help lead the team to a victory. it also meant they were able to rest a good number of players that will be playing in the Europa League final.

the New York Yankees got beat yesterday 9-5. they need some much better pitching today if they are going to avoid getting swept. i'm not holding my breath.

Saturday Night Live was spectacular last night. for the first time in a month, my local NBC station didn't fuck up the broadcast. i am very happy for that as the season finale was great.

NXT Takeover:Chicago was brilliant last night. the UK Championship match between Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne is a strong candidate for Match of the Year in all of professional wrestling. the tag team title match was the main event, which was great. Authors of Pain and #DIY put on a match for the ages. i think it was the first time i have seen a ladder actually break in half during a ladder match. and then the ending of the show with Tommaso Ciampa turning on Johnny Gargano. holy fuck, what a brutal beating. i'm hoping that Tommaso isn't hurt too bad as a feud between the Psycho Killer and Johnny Wrestling would be perfect for the summer. overall, just an incredible show.

ROH was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Week Tonight and Twin Peaks: The Return.

i'll be watching WWE Backlash for most of the evening. i'm hoping the guys know how good they will have to be tonight to be as good as the NXT show was last night. i figure Nakamura vs. Ziggler and Owens vs. Styles will be the matches of the night.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i get the feeling that as soon as we start doing all the things mom has to do for surgery this evening (changing the bed, special soap, etc.) the whirlwind will begin.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

hello to a rainy weekend

i'm really hoping to catch up on some sleep this weekend. i figure my nerves will get the better of me the closer we get to Tuesday. i'm not exactly looking forward to trying to go to sleep at 8 in the evening so i can be up at 4 in the morning.

the New York Yankees pissed away a lead last night, but came back to tie, only to give the game away again. a 5-4 loss to Tampa. hopefully they will win this afternoon down in that dump.

i did watch some of Cleveland's destruction of Boston last night in the Eastern Conference finals. the final score of 130-86 was a good indication of the game. Cleveland had a lead by more than 50 at some points. i suppose this is what the league gets for not having LeBron in the top 3 of the MVP.

VICE was fascinating last night. the story of women in prison was very good. and i never knew how easy it would be to make a "Warhol".

Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live and ROH. i will be watching NXT Takeover: Chicago tonight on WWE Network.

i will probably watch The Preakness Stakes today. i'm going to go with Classic Empire to win.

at least i got it done before it started raining

i guess i picked the right window of time today to go get gas and groceries. it started to pour about 45 minutes after i got back home.

mom has had me go twice to the ATM she always goes to to get some cash out. both times there wasn't any. mind you, that ATM is roughly a few miles out of the way of anything. good times.

i did write 4 poems yesterday after i got done with the blog. i really like all 4 of them. i figure since i will have a few moments home alone while mom is in the hospital, i will definitely try to bust out a long ass writing session or two.

the New York Yankees lost last night 5-1 to Kansas City. they start a series down at that dump in Tampa tonight.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be VICE, NJPW and Real Time with Bill Maher.

i get the feeling that it is going to be storming for most of the night. that will make doing the dishes really fun. fuck me runnin'.

i did watch the WWE UK Special today on WWE Network. it was good. i can't wait for Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate to face each other this weekend in Chicago at NXT Takeover. it should be a classic.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow. i'd like to be done before the cleaning ladies get here in the afternoon.

the curse of creativity...

i woke up this morning at 6:45 to a jolt of pain. i thought it had something to do with the storms rolling through. about 30 minutes later, i thought maybe the pain was something else. when i saw the news that Chris Cornell had died, i was shocked. 52 is way too soon for that voice to be gone. and then i started hearing the news that it was suicide. i immediately thought back to my freshman year of high school when i saw Soundgarden open for Guns N' Roses. i have always thought of creativity as this dangerous weapon. just as much as you put it out in the world, it takes that much or even more away from the person with it. i think much like comedy, creativity comes from pain. the true broken souls are often these delicate beautiful creatures that give so much to the world. but, we live in a society that is totally disposable. most couldn't give two shits about delicate souls. and people wonder why this world sucks so damn much...

music has gotten me through so much in my life. it's always been the only friend that never stabbed me in the back. and being a poet, the words are just as important as the melody. and being a teenager in the Grunge era, all those songs are what my existence is built upon. to think that most of them are all gone now is rather humbling. it also brings about a reality that i certainly know exists. the hard part of being honest with yourself is knowing one day you'll be a tragedy just like them. it doesn't exactly make for a great life, but it's great for the poems.

thank you Chris for all the wonderful music over the years. thanks for sharing that voice that will live forever. may your family find comfort and may you rest in peace. say hello to everyone for me.

as you might imagine, this day has been really shitty for me. between arthritis and depression, i have no clue where this resolve to not be a junkie has come from. i'm writing this a little earlier than usual as i know i will HAVE to write later today.

NXT was really good last night. i think the Takeover: Chicago event this Saturday is going to be amazing.

the New York Yankees tried to piss away a win last night, but ultimately won 11-7. they will go for the sweep later tonight.

the season of draws continue...

i got home in time to watch most of the second half of the Manchester United game today. i probably would have been better off just going back to bed.

my fingers are crossed, but it does look like mom's hip replacement is on for next Tuesday. i wasn't exactly thrilled when we were told we had to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning. there's some nights i'm lucky to be going to bed at that hour. oh joy. in other hospital news, i have two cousins in two different hospitals for god knows what. good times.

i enjoyed 205 Live more than Smackdown last night and that's not a good sign going into a ppv on Sunday.

Deadliest Catch was really good last night.

i feel bad for Hunter on The Voice. he clearly got robbed last night. that being said, his career will probably be better off for not winning the show. the dude is way more talented than most of the other people on the show. i think the winner this season will either be Chris Blue or Lauren Duski.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Yankees finally got some decent pitching on a night where they were hitting the long ball. they defeated the Royals last night 7-1. hopefully they can make it 2 in a row tonight.

team USA plays team Finland tomorrow in the 2017 Ice Hockey World Championships.

the winds here today have been horrific. it's the kind of day where driving a SUV is a skill. the winds reminded me of being back on the farm, watching boards fly off of rusted barns and doors being ripped wide open. i don't miss those days.

mom actually broke down and had me turn on the air conditioning last night. it dawned on her that a house at 79 degrees isn't actually good for trying to sleep.

i might try to do some writing tonight. it's either that or hoping some baseball allows me to catch up on some sleep.

the Sacramento Kings finally had a draft lottery that didn't bite them in the ass and they will have 2 picks in the top 10 (5 & 10). god willing, in a deep draft, they will not fuck it up.

i made a trip to the bank this morning. mom paid me for the first half of the month. i think this black woman knows me now at the bank as she commented on me not having any rolls of coins with me today. she's a cute one, so i'll be sure to have some rolls the next time.

that's all for me today kids. now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

a taste of summer

how i wish that title meant something else than it was hot as shit today. i drove past a sign on my way to Menards that said it was 93 today. hello summer.

i got most of what i wanted to get while at Menards. some funky solar lights that are purple, mom's favorite color. they had most of the birdseed i wanted at a good price. i found a new rain gauge that can double as lawn art, so that's always a good sign of sophisticated white trash. mom was happy that i kept it under $100.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. for a change, the show kept me interested for all 3 hours.

Gotham was really damn good last night.

The Voice was spectacular last night. i have no clue who is going to be in the Final 4, but if it is any of these people, i'm good...

i did check out the latest Jim Norton & Sam Roberts podcast today. you can find that by going here:

team USA beat Russia today 5-3 to win Group A at the 2017 Ice Hockey World Championships. Kevin Hayes scored 2 goals in the victory.

the New York Yankees start a series tonight on the road against the Royals. hopefully they can get back to winning.

the trash is all picked up and i've just got some dishes to do before i can finally rest for the rest of the day.

i'll be on here tomorrow after i take mom to her doctor's appointment and after Manchester United plays another meaningless game.
