my 2 poems in The Australian Times

my poems "weeks without being seen" and "there will never be another prince" have been published in The Australian Times Vol. 4 #13. you can find the poems (pages 68 & 69) by going here:

when coffee isn't enough

i was tempted to add a little whiskey to my coffee this morning, but i figured that would make me too Irish. i do have some alcohol coming to me today, after an improbable victory from a mediocre team last night.

when i saw that the New York Yankees were down 7-1 last night, i figured same old Yankees. that's how much this season has turned into an apathetic one. so after i got done watching all my shows last night, i looked at the scores and saw the Yankees won 9-7. i was like, well, that must be a fucking mistake. so i got the internet and watched the highlights. holy shit. 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win 9-7. well, that certainly came out of nowhere. maybe it's a sign of good things... no. it's more of the sun hits a dog's ass every now and then. they play again this afternoon. i doubt lightning will strike twice.

Lucha Underground was spectacular last night. i think they have done an excellent job setting up Ultima Lucha Dos the past couple weeks. that starts next week.

NXT was really good last night.

Big Brother was hilarious last night. i'm hoping for some fireworks with tonight's show. eviction night usually is good.

Any Given Wednesday was pretty funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, WWE Smackdown and Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade last night. that link will be in the music section.

Euro 2016 Update:
Poland vs. Portugal this afternoon. two of the best strikers in the world CR7 vs. Robert Lewandowski. should be a very entertaining game. hopefully.

hopefully after i get this mess of hair cut off of me today, i'll start feeling better for the summer. if it turns out good, i'll post a pic.

that's all for me today kids.

whipping up a little magic

so i sent out 15 poems to the publisher that requested them today. i told him that he caught me at the right time, as i am on a little bit of a writing binge. i sent what i thought was my 15 best unpublished. hopefully i hear some good news from him in the coming days. whenever i do hear from him, i'll pass along the verdict.

a bit of a blockbuster day in the NHL. 2 major trades and the Stamkos decision is made before July 1st. and what are the New York Rangers doing... not a fucking thing. can you just imagine my happiness right now.

i made mom watch that documentary i watched the night before last night. we both are amazed at how many people deny that climate change actually exists.

the New York Yankees lost last night 7-1. thankfully, i didn't watch any of it. i want the team to start trading off players for younger prospects, so hopefully another loss is coming tonight.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Any Given Wednesday and Lucha Underground. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i did listen to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast this afternoon. it was excellent as usual. you can find it by going here: http://notsam.com/wrestlingpodcast/2016/6/29/wrestling-podcast-88-ali-vs-inoki

now that the major heat of the day is done, i might actually go out and feed the birds.

i'll be on here tomorrow in the morning most likely. i'm getting my hair cut in the afternoon (it's been awhile, got bangs in my eyes dammit) and the Euro 2016 starts back up tomorrow as well (Poland vs. Portugal).

i hope everyone is enjoying whatever...

should you still have feelings for the one that crushed your heart?

i don't have a twitter account. but, i do creep on twitter from time to time... keep up with sports, news, old friends, etc. so, last night i saw one of the women i used to be in love with was in an accident. she's always been a pretty private person, so her stating this publicly somewhat surprised me. so i sent her an email and ended it with love, J.J. the one warning i have had to every woman is if i ever tell you i love you, it's unconditional and forever. as you might imagine, the amount of heartbreak that has resulted in has fueled 24 years of writing poems. part of me really wonders if i should still be that way. it's painfully obvious the small number of women that have told me they love me don't think of it the same way. i'll admit, in the dark times, it truly is hard to even think of love. and my hindsight is full of what ifs and quite honestly, my imagination never sees any of them as something good. i remember my old friend that got me into writing poetry in the first place. he told me i was made for this... that i can walk into any situation or society and think of things in a poetic way. now 40, i often look at the negative in that. the tragedy of needing the bad to make "art". that my critical eyes have never been able to enjoy moments or snapshots of time, all because my brain was always thinking about the next poem, the next line, the next funny way to say the same thing again. ultimately, i figure i will die alone. broke, broken and probably with a pen in hand. it's not the way i want it to happen, but there's plenty of shit in this world i don't get to control. but, i do admit, it's creepy as hell to drive past roadside memorials and wonder if that was the one that was supposed to complete my life. and sadly, it's that emptiness that keeps me clinging to the few moments in my life that i felt i had the one. the handful of women that made me feel like i was something special to someone other than myself. i keep hoping that sometime while i'm on the back side of the circle, i'll actually get to feel that again. and maybe even more than just over the phone or in an email. we all know what happens when hope dies...

i did a little poetry work yesterday. i believe i have 15 unpublished poems that i actually like. probably tomorrow, i'll assemble them and submit them for possible publication. i haven't had a chapbook out in years, so i'm really hoping this works out.

Euro 2016 Update:
Italy completely outplayed Spain for the entire game yesterday. Italy won 2-0 and honestly, it should have been worse. Iceland had a huge upset of England, 2-1. when England scored early, i was really curious to see what Iceland would do. when they scored just 2 minutes later, i knew Iceland had the fight in them to pull off the upset. England's coach resigned after the game. rightly so as i imagine this will be a black eye for the country for years to come. so the quarterfinals look like this:
Poland vs. Portugal, Wales vs. Belgium, Germany vs. Italy, France vs. Iceland. it should be really entertaining from here on out.

the New York Yankees lost last night 9-6. they had a 6-5 lead going into the 9th and then had to sit through a 3 1/2 hour rain delay. so you can imagine my joy watching them lose at 2:30 in the morning. of course, if my hope is for them to blow up the team, they will hopefully lose again tonight.

Monday Night Raw was pretty much fucking boring for most of it last night. i did like that they addressed the elephant in the room with Roman Reigns suspension. plus, anytime i can see John Cena get the shit beat out of him, i'll be happy for a moment or two. the highlight for me was the interaction between Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. that was perfectly scripted.

i did watch the documentary How to Let Go of the World (and Love All the Things Climate Can't Change) last night on HBO. it was a very sobering look at climate change. it's a move i hope the whole world watches, especially the ignorant fucks that don't believe in climate change.

after a stormy night

the damn storms came last night right as the DVR was starting to record the Sunday night shows as i was watching the Copa America final. hello frustration, my old friend. thankfully, HBO and Showtime show repeats all night more or less, so by 3 in the morning i had everything watched. and amazingly, i almost got 5 hours of sleep, so i feel like i'm running behind.

Copa America Update:
Chile defeated Argentina in penalty kicks for the second Copa America in a row. when Messi missed his penalty kick, i totally knew Argentina was fucked. to watch Messi in tears after the game was tough, but i never expected him to retire from the national team. i guess the pressure has finally defeated him. of course, heat of the moment, he'll most likely change his mind at some point. as for Chile, their energy was spectacular. this totally proves that last year was not a fluke. congrats to them, they completely deserve it.

Euro 2016 Update:
Germany dismantled Slovakia yesterday 3-0. Belgium beat Hungary 4-0. today, Italy takes on Spain and England takes on Iceland. the quarterfinals are shaping up to be really good.

the New York Yankees got embarrassed yesterday, losing 7-1. so much for a sweep. they start a series against Texas tonight. i feel more embarrassment coming, sadly.

Big Brother last night was pretty funny. i'm still amazed at how clueless the newbies are. i already know what's happened for the most part as i follow people who watch this show religiously. so the broadcast show is a way for me to put the words to some visuals.

the Sunday night shows were pretty good last night. the season finale of Silicon Valley was hilarious. the season finale of Veep was fucking great. Ray Donovan was pretty good last night. i liked Roadies more than i thought i would. Ron White was fucking hilarious. and as usual, Last Week Tonight was brilliant.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be How to Let Go of the World (and Love All the Things Climate Can't Change) on HBO.

i'll watch Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i got a request for some poems today, so i guess it's time to start making some decisions on my recent work. hopefully i have 15 unpublished poems i like. (fingers crossed)

the bug guy is supposed to come here this afternoon. i guess we have carpenter ants. good times.

i'm really hoping the advanced forecasts are wrong as it looks like it might rain the entire time we're in Cleveland. irritable in a different city... that sounds like i will need bail money.

Italy just scored to go up 1-0 on Spain.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

still have miles to go...

there's an old guy that lives a couple doors down. the last two mornings i have gone out to get the paper, he's been sitting in a lawn chair underneath a tree in his front yard, asleep. when i wrote last year that i was moving into a glorified retirement community, i wasn't bullshitting. now all i'm missing is seeing someone walk around in black socks and flip flops.

Copa America Update:
Colombia defeated USA last night 1-0. the boys had chances to score but weren't clinical. Colombia basically had 2 chances all game and went 50%. Jurgen's lack of urgency making changes in the second half pissed me off. i wish he would have given Darlington Nagbe the entire second half to play. i get the feeling they might have actually scored. but, the goal was to make the final 4, so they did that. i wonder if the goal would have been to win... Chile vs. Argentina tonight in the final. Argentina has been told if they don't win, don't bother to come home. so, a part of me really hopes Chile wins.

Euro 2016 Update:
Wales defeated Northern Ireland 1-0 yesterday. a shitty way to lose on an own goal. Portugal and Croatia did a great job of putting me to sleep for most of the game. Portugal scored in the 117th minute to win 1-0. i felt bad for Croatia as they had so many chances to score. this morning, France came from behind to defeat Ireland 2-1. 2 second half goals from Antoine Griezmann were the difference. later today, Germany takes on Slovakia and Hungary plays Belgium.

the New York Yankees come from behind again yesterday to beat the Twins, 2-1. they will go for the sweep this afternoon.

ROH was 60 minutes dedicated to the Women of Honor last night. i certainly was not disappointed.

i also watched a little boxing last night and Big Brother After Dark. the boxing was really good and, let's just say, i got some good sleep in after that.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Week Tonight, Ray Donovan and Roadies.

overall, i think the New York Rangers did a pretty good job with the limited amount of draft picks they had yesterday. i think they got a few decent prospects for the future. i love taking guys who are slighted because of their height. plus, taking a chance on a kid who has talent but hasn't put it together yet is always a good bet to take on. what i was confused about was the lack of trades on their part. it makes me think that maybe the Rangers think way too highly of their own players. if they seriously want to rebuild the team and not piss away the best years left of The King, they might want to swallow their pride and accept reality.

that's all for me today kids. i hope your Sunday is better than your Saturday was.

another hot weekend

it looks like both days this weekend are going to be hot ones. thankfully, i think we got most of the running around done last night. the grocery store wasn't bad, just crowded as usual. plus, they were training a new cashier, so that was a fun experience. mom is much more patient than i am.

Euro 2016 Update:
Poland defeated Switzerland this morning on penalty kicks (5-4). that's a huge win for Poland. Wales are currently playing Northern Ireland. later this afternoon, Portugal takes on Croatia.

Copa America Update:
Colombia vs. USA tonight for 3rd place. if the USA wins, it would be their best finish EVER in the Copa America. hopefully the boys seize the opportunity tonight.

NJPW was excellent last night. 2 great hours of wrestling.

VICE was amazing last night. when i saw the segment on fecal transplants, my mind was blown away. and it also showed why the FDA is fucking stupid. i highly recommend that everyone checks the episode out.

the New York Yankees came from behind to win last night 5-3. they fucking own the Twins it seems. they will play again this afternoon.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

today is pretty much soccer all day long. between the Euro 2016 action and the USA playing in the Copa America, i will probably try to squeeze in some MLS action as well.

i did watch most of the NHL Draft last night. i was somewhat shocked that Columbus dropped the ball like they did. i get the feeling they are going to regret passing up on the guy they should have took at number 3. the New York Rangers didn't have a pick until the 3rd round. i saw that this morning. i have good faith in who they draft, as the guy that runs their draft is an excellent scout. i'm more interested in why the fuck they haven't traded anyone yet and why the fuck are they knocking on the door of Steven Stamkos. i guess they want even more of a salary cap hell.

that's all for me today. i hope you have a wonderful Saturday. take it easy and then take it again.

with the weekend in sight...

well, i can tell the economy around here still sucks. i went to sell some music today and got $2 per CD. and trust me, i was selling the good shit today. but, beggars can't be choosers, so i took the $32 and came back home. that money will either be spending money in Cleveland or alcohol money beforehand. i guess time will tell.

i got a good laugh today watching this white woman cross the street while i was driving through a black neighborhood on my way to the record store. she was casually trying to cross in a 45 mph zone where most people are driving 60. when i saw her i laughed, said this is why people get hit here. he who hesitates loses. never forget those words.

i did watch most of the NBA Draft last night. i'm not sure what Sacramento was doing. they got a decent return for trading the 8th pick in the draft, but it appears to me they wasted most of it with some shitty draft selections. now, i do like the player they got from Syracuse as i remember he torched Dayton in the NCAA tournament. of course, maybe the team likes not making the playoffs. who knows.

i did see that the Dayton Flyers got a commit yesterday from someone that probably shouldn't be going to Dayton. when you get a 4 star recruit that is the younger brother to a NBA star to pick your school over Florida, you know you're doing something right. welcome to Dayton Kostas Antetokounmpo.
http://www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1681110-dayton-adds-quality-late-pledge

i didn't mind seeing Glenn leave Big Brother last night. the oldest cast member rarely does well on the show. it does appear that the newbies are totally fucking clueless how this game works. i expect the veterans to run the house easily for the first few weeks or so.

Lip Sync Battle was fucking hilarious last night.

WWE Smackdown was pretty good last night. but i'm definitely ready for the show to go live.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW and Vice.

the New York Yankees start a series tonight against Minnesota. hopefully they... fuck, it doesn't matter.

i might watch some of the NHL Draft tonight. unless a miracle happens, the New York Rangers won't have a first round pick tonight.

i'm going to go to the grocery store as soon as i get this done. hopefully, i find some summer beers.

that's all for me today. i'll be on here early tomorrow, hopefully before the Saturday of soccer gets underway.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. call if you need bail money.

lucky once again

well, it looks like all the bad storms either went to the south of us or got bad after they went through us. we got some rain and wind, but nothing like they got in other places of the area. of course, it felt like it was nearly 100 degrees today, so i'm waiting for a pop up thunderstorm to hit at any minute. it was thundering when i woke up this morning. i didn't bother going back to sleep.

Copa America Update:
Chile defeated Columbia 2-0 in a rainy mess last night. so, the 3rd place game on Saturday will be Colombia vs. USA and the finals on Sunday will be Chile vs. Argentina. both matches should be really interesting.

Euro 2016 Update:
Hungary and Portugal played to a very entertaining 3-3 draw yesterday. Iceland got a goal at the death to stun Austria 2-1. Ireland had a massive upset of Italy 1-0 yesterday and Belgium defeated Sweden 1-0. so the final 16 are set. and there are some juicy matches in the next round. here is the bracket:
that right side of the bracket is fucking loaded, especially when Italy will play Spain and the winner is only in the quarterfinals. the knockout rounds should be very entertaining.

the New York Yankees came from behind yesterday and got a walk off homer from Starlin Castro to beat Colorado 9-8. that victory beer came out of nowhere. they are off tonight and start a series at home against the Twins tomorrow night.

Lucha Underground was really good last night. NXT also was very good.

Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons was interesting last night, mostly for how much Ben Affleck is up Tom Brady's ass.

Big Brother was pretty much what i thought it would be. some hot girls, some douchebag guys, 4 returners that i never liked to begin with and surprises that only make the show worse. but, i truly enjoy people getting on other people's nerves, and that is why the show is so good. i have no clue who is going home tonight. i know it's not who i was hoping for.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be WWE Smackdown, Lip Sync Battle and Big Brother.

i figure i will watch some of the NBA Draft tonight. i'm sure the Sacramento Kings will manage to fuck up their lottery pick somehow. i'd love if Dyshawn Pierre got drafted tonight, but that's not likely.

i wrote 5 poems between last night and this morning. i typed them up this afternoon. i really like all of them. i think i'm just going to stockpile for now and be prepared to flood the market after my 4 day journey to Cleveland.

i did catch up on some podcasts today. i listened to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast this morning. it was excellent as usual.

disappointed but realistic

thankfully, i have been watching the USA play soccer enough to know when i'm being fed bullshit. all the talk leading up to the Argentina game was how they were going to press them, go out and be positive, force Argentina to play defense, blah blah fucking blah. all i needed to see was who the coach replaced the 3 suspended starters with. when i saw it was three veterans, i knew he was blowing smoke up the ass of the fans all the time. and sure enough, 3 minutes in, it was painfully evident. and, who the fuck thought the best way to defend the best player in the world was to give him all the time and space he wanted? jesus fucking christ. as Landon Donovan said in the second half, if the USA was serious about winning this game, there should have been 11 or 12 yellow cards issued of them hacking players to the ground. and answer me this... who the fuck can win when you never get a shot on goal. all that being said, even if the USA would have played their best game, they still would have lost to Argentina. you can tell that team is hell bent on ending their 23 year drought. of course, a small part of me would love to see them lose in the final.

Copa America Update:
Argentina won last night 4-0. they will play the winner of Chile vs. Colombia in the finals on Sunday. the loser of that game plays the USA in the 3rd place game on Saturday.

Euro 2016 Update:
Turkey defeated Czech Republic yesterday 2-0. Croatia stunned Spain to win the group 2-1. i believe that now puts Spain on the side of the bracket they didn't want to be on. today, Iceland is leading Austria 1-0 at halftime. Portugal and Hungary are 1-1 at halftime. later this afternoon, Italy takes on Ireland and Sweden plays Belgium.

the New York Yankees lost last night 8-4. i'm at the point now where i hope they keep losing so they have to trade all the veterans away and start getting younger. with that being said, hopefully another loss is coming up this afternoon.

Deadliest Catch was great last night. the end of the show was amazing. i'm not sure i could stay calm on a boat on fire in the middle of the Bering Sea.

Maya & Marty was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Lucha Underground, Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons and my guilty pleasure of summer, Big Brother. i'll be watching NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

Hungary just scored to go up 2-1 on Portugal. and now Portugal has just tied the game at 2-2.

i've been flipping between the soccer games and the Cleveland Cavaliers victory parade. i think nearly half of the state of Ohio is at that parade right now.

well, Hungary just scored to go back up, 3-2. this game is fucking crazy right now. if Portugal loses, they are eliminated from Euro 2016.

we've been seeing some weird fucking bugs in the house. not sure if it's the rain or the fact i sprayed around the house that's driven them inside. i think i killed them but we've got a bug guy coming out later today to check out the situation.

at some point today, i'd love to get some writing done, maybe a shower and catch up on some podcasts. of course, it's also supposed to storm like hell tonight. high winds, tornado warnings, etc. good times.

CR7 just scored for Portugal to make the game 3-3. fucking crazy. Austria scored to make their game with Iceland 1-1.

that's all for me today kids. looks like this is going to be a crazy afternoon.

a stormy night is good for writing...

it would be even better if the rain really didn't fuck with my arthritis like it does. i wrote 4 poems last night/this morning. if my hands would have felt better, i might have written another 10 more. i typed up the 4 this afternoon and really like them. i may do a little submission before vacation or i may just stockpile the poems for when i get back. i'm not sure yet.

Copa America Update:
the USA vs. Argentina game is massive tonight. if the USA can pull off the upset, i will be thrilled. all i really want tonight is for them to seize the opportunity they have in front of them and play their best. if that isn't enough to win, so be it. it will certainly be a good test to see where "we" are going against the #1 team in the world.

Euro 2016 Update:
Germany defeated Northern Ireland this afternoon 1-0. Poland defeated Ukraine 1-0. both of them advanced out of the group. right now, Spain leads Croatia 1-0 and Turkey leads Czech Republic 1-0. both matches are in the first half.

the storms knocked out the satellite a few times last night, so Monday Night Raw was disjointed for me as i missed nearly half of it. i did enjoy most of what i saw, mostly because of Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose. i figured out why they had Roman Reigns lose the title on Sunday. he got suspended for 30 days for a Wellness Policy Violation. most likely, he took something he shouldn't have and pissed hot. maybe that changes Vince's opinion of him.

i did watch all of the AJ Styles interview with Stone Cold Steve Austin last night on WWE Network. i was somewhat amazed they actually mentioned TNA in the interview, as that has become the company that usually isn't named on the network. i do like that AJ loves WWE so much that he wants to work for it after he retires.

what a night

i watched the last 2 minutes or so of the NBA Finals last night. and then for the next few hours, i sat in stunned amazement. i never thought i'd see Cleveland win anything in my lifetime. and honestly, it still feels like some bizarre world of fairy tales at the moment. having lived all my life in Ohio, i get the pain, the neediness, the heartache and all the tears that come along with failure. it makes success that much sweeter but also that much more rare. it's a damn state where the recession has never ended for most of it. and i'm not talking about the most recent one. i'm talking about the recession from the fucking 1970's. but, at least for a night, a good portion of this state got to feel like what the rest of the world gets to feel from time to time... a champion.

all the credit should go to LeBron James. he came back and said he would win a championship and he did. he got a triple double in Game 7, becoming only the 3rd player ever to do that. Cleveland became the first team to ever come back from being down 3-1 in the NBA Finals. LBJ was also the MVP of the Finals. he lead everyone on both teams in every damn stat. that's the first time any player has ever done that in the playoffs. and i will think of this as a series of Cleveland imposing their will and Golden State being so naive to think they could tug on superman's cape. after they said shit about LeBron after Game 4, they didn't win another fucking game.  in more shocking news, the fans didn't burn the city of Cleveland to the ground last night. i'm sure some people are still partying, celebrating the victory. it's been 52 years since Cleveland has won anything. they deserve it.

WWE Money in the Bank was saved by the fact that all the big matches over delivered last night. AJ Styles defeating John Cena was good. it could have been great if Cena would have lost clean. but his fucking ego wouldn't allow that. stupid. the ladder match was spectacular. i had no problem with Dean Ambrose winning the briefcase. Seth Rollins defeating Roman Reigns was perfect. and then having Dean Ambrose come out of nowhere to cash in the briefcase he had just won and become the new champion was great. all 3 former members of The Shield were the world champion in the same night. that should make for an interesting Monday Night Raw tonight.

Euro 2016 Update:
France had no late drama yesterday, so they ended up in a 0-0 draw with Switzerland. they both advanced out of the group. Albania got a huge 1-0 victory, their first ever in a major tournament, over Romania. they are still alive among the 3rd place teams. today, England controlled most of the game but never could solve Slovakia. that game ended 0-0. Wales tromped Russia 3-0. that means Wales wins the group, over England. i'm sure that will be fun in the papers tomorrow in London. Slovakia is still alive among 3rd place teams and Russia is eliminated.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 7-4. they finished their road trip 3-3, just like a mediocre team would. they are off tonight.

the Sunday night shows were good. Silicon Valley was hilarious. Veep was really good. the season and now after watching it, series finale of Penny Dreadful was spectacular. i was in tears by the end of it. easily one of my favorite shows EVER. it will be missed. and finally, Last Week Tonight was brilliant as always:

nothing on the DVR tonight, so i'll be watching Monday Night Raw.

i haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but the latest podcast from Sam & Cathy is out. you can find it by going here: https://soundcloud.com/samrobertsshow/sam-cathy-016-origin-of-sound

it has been hotter than shit here today. damn near 100 it feels like. nothing quite like going out to get the paper and then 30 seconds later you're racing to the toilet. have i mentioned how i'm so looking forward to the vacation in July to Cleveland?

i may do some writing tonight, especially if the wrestling is boring me.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

why i'm happy i never became a father day...

so i was doing a little more reading of my father's medical records last night. his grandmother had dementia. his mother had dementia. he had dementia. well, i suppose i know who is next in line for that one. his father committed suicide. so, it's pretty plain for me to see i come from a long line of crazy people. and since this country doesn't believe in doing anything for the mentally ill, i guess i'm fucked. good times.

Copa America Update:
Argentina defeated Venezuela 4-1. that sets up Argentina vs. USA in one semifinal. Chile destroyed Mexico last night 7-0. that sets up Chile vs. Colombia in the other semifinal. do i think the USA has a chance? yes. do i think they will beat the #1 team in the world? no. but i would love to be proved wrong. finishing in the top 4 of this tournament is a success for the USA team. now it's time to have dessert.

Euro 2016 Update:
Hungary got a very late gift from Iceland (own goal) to get a 1-1 draw yesterday. Portugal spit the bit again and ended up in a 0-0 draw against Austria. i can't believe CR7 missed the penalty kick. today France takes on Switzerland and Romania takes on Albania.

the New York Yankees came from behind yesterday to beat Minnesota 7-6. they will go for the sweep today.

ROH was excellent last night. i thought the episode did a great job setting up their next ppv.

mom and my sister got home around 8:30 last night. and mom wonders why she's in pain today.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Week Tonight and the season finale of Penny Dreadful.

most of the evening i'll be watching Money in the Bank on WWE Network. this looks like it could be an amazing pay per view. hopefully the show has some surprises and all the guys i want to win actually do win. plus, tonight will be the match that no one ever thought would happen, AJ Styles vs. John Cena. should be a very good night of pro wrestling.

i'll somehow try to keep up with Game 7 of the NBA Finals tonight as well.
i'd love to see Cleveland win. it will take a miracle for it to happen though.

i got a little sun yesterday feeding the birds. nothing too bad though. it's supposed to be even hotter today, so i'll be indoors.

that's all for me today kids. happy father's day to all the good fathers out there. the bad fathers don't deserve any recognition at all, so fuck off.

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

my latest SoundCloud recording...

here is a link to my latest SoundCloud recording:
https://soundcloud.com/j-j-campbell/in-the-valley-of-this-connected-generation

the poem "in the valley of this connected generation" appears in my book Sofisticated White Trash (Interior Noise Press)

that feeling you get when you finally get the truth

so my sister got our father's medical records yesterday. i copied them to my computer and started reading through a few of the nearly 2,000 pages. let me just say, the poems will be writing themselves for the rest of my life. a treasure trove of information. plus, it reaffirmed my thoughts on the funeral. it was all a joke. people were telling me what they thought i wanted to hear. the files showed me the truth. he was the same prick at death that he was 25 fucking years earlier. that's a much different picture than they painted at the funeral. he never was a saint. never fucking close to it. and the parts of when dementia was setting in were the best. i know i am an asshole for taking delight in the misery of others. but i now can look back on washing my father's feet in church one evening with much less horror now knowing that one day that fucker would believe there was a secret worm inside of him making him shit his pants.

mom decided she wanted her birthday dinner at Outback Steakhouse. i hadn't been there in years. i got steak tacos as i decided i wanted to be different. they were excellent. overall, it was a pretty good dinner. we got there right before they got full of people, so that was good. after dinner, we went to Menards. i needed bird food and a new lamp for my desk. my sister got some things she needed and mom found a few things as well. everything had a 11% rebate on it, so that's good. after that, we went to get some gas for the car. mom and my sister are out driving the state today, sort of. down to IKEA to get some beds. and then to Columbus to drop them off and then back to the house. when my mother left this morning, i told her i'll see you at 6 tonight. that would be 9 hours after she left with my sister. sadly, she knew i was probably correct.

Copa America Update:
Colombia defeated Peru last night on penalty kicks. i felt bad for Peru, but ultimately the better team won. tonight Argentina takes on Venezuela and Chile takes on Mexico. should be two really good games.

Euro 2016 Update:
Spain took care of Turkey yesterday, 3-0. i got up this morning to see Belgium play Ireland. Belgium finally woke up and started playing like a good team. they won 3-0. Iceland is currently leading Hungary 1-0 at halftime. later today Portugal takes on Austria.

the New York Yankees won again last night, 8-2. two in a row, stop the presses. they will try to get back to .500 again by winning this afternoon.

NJPW was excellent last night. 2 hours of great wrestling.

VICE was enthralling last night. to have a reporter with ALS do a story on others with ALS, even some getting into the clinical trials she didn't get into, was amazing. i highly recommend the episode.

Dateline: On Assignment was good last night. i'm happy that David Letterman still has the same sense of humor.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i may go outside and get a little sun while feeding the birds. but, i won't be out there for long. it's fucking hot this weekend. of course, The Air Show is happening, so that's how the weather usually is no matter when they have the show.

that's all for me kids. i hope you have a great Saturday. only fuck the ones that cough.

the start of a hot weekend

my sister is down for the weekend. so, of course, she's bleeding and it's hotter than shit outside. i can't imagine what could go wrong.

Copa America Update:
i am really happy that the USA defeated Ecuador last night, 2-1. now, the win puts them in the semifinals for the first time since 1995. it came at quite a price though, as three players will miss the next game because of red and yellow cards. so, i guess everyone is going to find out just how deep the team is. but, if they end up playing Argentina, they have nothing to lose. no one in the world will give them a chance. and usually, that's when the USA plays its best.
Peru takes on Colombia tonight. hopefully Colombia doesn't take Peru lightly.

Euro 2016 update:
Germany and Poland did a good job of allowing me to get my afternoon nap in yesterday. i'm not a big fan of 0-0 draws. i did watch a good portion of Sweden vs. Italy this morning. Italy won late, 1-0. someone has to tell Sweden you need to get shots on goal to score. right now, Croatia is up on Czech Republic 2-0. Spain takes on Turkey later this afternoon.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty fucking funny last night.

WWE Smackdown was pretty good. i am really looking forward to the Money in the Bank ppv this Sunday. it has all the makings of being a great one.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW, VICE and Dateline: On Assignment.

Czech Republic just scored to make it 2-1.

the New York Yankees ended their losing streak last night by winning 4-1 at Minnesota. i think the Twins might be one of the few teams that actually suck more than the Yankees this season. i doubt i watch much of the game tonight either.

i did watch the last few minutes of Cleveland forcing a Game 7 in the NBA Finals last night. it was fun to see Curry get ejected and his wife bitch that the league is rigged. i wonder if she thought it was rigged when her husband was winning back to back MVP awards. i doubt it. LeBron had another monster game. it's funny, ever since the Warriors more or less called him a bitch, he has taken over the series. if he somehow leads Cleveland to the title on Sunday, he might as well retire as he will never do anything better in his career.

crazy scenes in the Croatia vs. Czech Republic game. flares were shot onto the field. a steward looks like he got hit with one. and it looked like the flares were coming from the Croatian fans, who are winning the game. crazy.

i listened to Sam Roberts' Show podcast this morning. a very funny way to start the day. you can find that by going here: https://soundcloud.com/samrobertsshow/srshow-33-mike-lawrence

Czech Republic just scored on a penalty kick to make the game 2-2, 94th minute.

i guess we're going out to an late lunch/early dinner for Mom's birthday later today. i think we might be going to Menards as well. honestly, i'm just the driver anymore.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. have fun. be safe. call if you need bail money or help hiding the bodies.
