not the news i wanted to hear...

i was hit with a right hook of depression last night when it was announced that John Prine was in critical condition in the hospital battling COVID-19. it brought back a flood of memories. i remember when Mary Beth, this beautiful woman i worked with at the airport, told me to listen to John Prine. a funny side note, Mary Beth told me one night if she wasn't married, she would definitely go out with me. i told her you shouldn't have told me that. she asked me why? i said because now i'm the asshole rooting for your divorce. she never did get that divorce. that was over 20 years ago now. thankfully, by this afternoon, John Prine was in stable condition. he's beaten cancer twice, so i'm not counting him out just yet. here's my favorite song of his, although i probably have a hundred or so more i could have mentioned...

i went to the grocery store today to pick up my medicine and get some shit we needed. the store was better stocked than the last time i was there. of course, they still didn't have much toilet paper or tissues, etc. and of course, you could imagine what i was looking for... i still managed to spend over $70 there.

VICE was excellent last night. i'm so happy the show is back on television, now on Showtime.

Homeland was really good last night.

Black Monday was pretty funny last night.

Westworld was fucking great last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.

the iHeart Living Room Concert last night was really good.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice, The Plot Against America and Desus & Mero. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

response from Heroin Love Songs v2.0

i heard back from the fine folks at Heroin Love Songs v2.0 on my poetry submission from back in February. my poems "four hours of sleep", "pretend to be sophisticated" and "as sexy as she thinks possible" have been accepted for publication.

the winds of hell...

we had a few storms roll through here yesterday. most of the big shit missed us. today, it's a constant wind. 25 MPH with gusts into the 50's. joy. i'm trying to let the house air out a bit, but i'm not stupid enough to open all the windows and enjoy the chaos.

ROH was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be VICE, Westworld, Last Week Tonight, Homeland, Black Monday and The iHeart Living Room Concert.

i got a few poems in mind that i'm going to turn into SoundCloud recordings. i think that's going to be my contribution to National Poetry Month in April.

hard to believe April will be here soon.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday is even better.

Smackdown was pretty good last night, as was 205 Live.

the season finale of The Trade was excellent last night.

High Maintenance was really funny last night.

i'm used to the misery...

it's been raining on and off all day so far. the heavy shit is supposed to come tonight. i'm hoping it arrives long after all the shit i'm recording has been recorded to the DVR.

i took mom to pick up her taxes today. i asked her if she wanted to go grocery shopping after that. i was sort of shocked when she said yes. we got everything at the local grocery store. thank fucking god we still have toilet paper. there isn't a damn store around here that has any. when we came out of the store, the rain had started back up. joy.

NXT UK was really good last night.

it took 9 episodes, but Indebted was finally fucking hilarious last night.

Better Things was really good last night.

Cake was funny as always last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, High Maintenance and the season finale of The Trade. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

amazingly, it didn't rain today...

i say that because there is some rain on the way, at least that's what these old bones of mine are saying.

i had to drive mom to her bank today to deposit some checks. thankfully, they built a little satellite office one town over. so, now i won't have to drive her all the way out to the next damn county. after that, i had to drive her to her accountant so she could give him her tax info. she always likes getting them done as soon as possible. of course, she's been up the last 2 days going nuts over all the paperwork. joy.

after that, mom wanted to try the new Hardee's in town. i probably haven't ate at a Hardee's in over 20 years. we waited in the drive thru for over 20 minutes, mostly because the woman 2 cars in front of me must have ordered the whole damn menu. i swear she got 3 bags of food and 2 damn boxes. fuck me. all we got was two burgers and some onion rings. it was good, a little pricey, but good. at least there's another option in this town.

today was supposed to be opening day in MLB. i have no damn clue when sports will exist again in this country.

The Masked Singer was pretty good last night.

NXT was good last night.

AEW was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be 2 episodes of Indebted, Better Things and Cake. i'll watch NXT UK sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i was pleasantly surprised when i woke up this morning and realized there was 2 new Nine Inch Nails albums released and they were FREE. Ghosts V and V1 are both excellent. available at https://nin.com

i will probably be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done. i'm hoping i can get all of it done at the local grocery store, but i'm not counting on that.

thanks for the memories...

Obi Toppin made it official today, declaring for the NBA Draft. any Dayton fan with a brain knew this day was coming. i can't wait to see who drafts him and hopefully he has an amazing NBA career. thanks for the memories Obi, you will go down as one of the greatest in the history of the school.

Dark Side of the Ring was really, really good last night. it was mostly about Chris Benoit and that fucking tragedy, but also talked about Eddie Guerrero as well. so many damn memories of those two in my brain forever. and it's really obvious that the main guy behind the close of the episode was Chris Jericho, easily one of the greatest of all-time. i urge everyone to watch both parts of the episode, it's worth your time. as is the after show, After Dark, hosted by Chris Gethard. all of them are available for free on the VICE YouTube channel.

i didn't sleep well last night, so for the second day in a row i've taken a 4 hour nap in the afternoon. i guess the shutdown will allow me to catch up on my sleep. joy.

i can't believe i've gone this many days without alcohol. no wonder why i'm irritable.

mom sent me out to get Pizza Hut last night. she likes their wings for some damn reason.

where caution meets panic and the lines are blurred...

i wrote 6 poems today. i was expecting to write them from the waiting room where my mother was getting her injection for her back. instead, the waiting room was only for the patients, everyone else had to wait in their vehicles. i know this is all out of an abundance of caution, but holy shit common sense doesn't fucking exist anymore. so, i did write 6 poems in the Highlander. i typed them up this afternoon. i think they are pretty good. of course, time will tell.

i'm really hoping the shot works for my mother. she doesn't get another one until June.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

The Voice was good last night. the battle rounds have finally started.

The Plot Against America was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Dark Side of the Ring. i believe they are showing part 1 and 2 of the Chris Benoit story tonight. that should be must watch television for anyone that is a pro wrestling fan.

my sanity is going to be tested in the next 2 weeks...

the governor in Ohio announced that starting tonight, we citizens are basically to stay the fuck inside unless we have to go out. i believe you can still go to the grocery store or to get food at a drive thru or pick up an order, but other than that, you're going to be arrested if caught. so, with that in mind, i figured i would go to Kroger today and get some shit done.

i was sort of shocked but shouldn't have been that Kroger is no longer taking returns. didn't matter that the stuff was never opened and bought 2 months ago. so, since mom forgot to tell me to return the shit, i'm going to have to eat that loss. joy. i did get gas and some groceries today. i wanted to make sure we had a full tank for when i take mom to get her injection tomorrow. they called yesterday to confirm the appointment. i was waiting for them to cancel it.

Batwoman was really good last night.

Westworld was great last night.

the season finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm was excellent last night.

i think i'm pretty much over my sinus bullshit from earlier in the week. of course, i'm now back to horrible sleep and hanging out in my room for most of the day. mom likes to watch all the news conferences, etc.... that's not my cup of tea.

i was pleasantly shocked to see new music this morning from Childish Gambino. that gave me something to sink my teeth into today.

ROH was pretty good last night.

pour one out for The Gambler...

i am of the age where Kenny Rogers was definitely a part of my childhood. between the late 70's and early 80's, you couldn't escape those songs. i was saddened to see he died overnight. but, with how crazy this fucking world is now, i'm sure he's in a better place. and i want to thank him, as his death woke up the genius in me and the pen found the paper this morning.

i wrote 7 poems this morning, my first poems in over a fucking month. i typed them up and i think most of them are really good. hopefully, i will have a few more poems in me tomorrow.

Smackdown was good last night, as was 205 Live.

The Trade was really good last night. the season finale is next week.

High Maintenance was great last night.

i may have to go to the grocery store tomorrow to return some shit my mother forgot to tell me to return weeks ago. joy.

welcome to the first weekend of Spring...

we got 2 inches of rain last night. it was in the 60's today but very windy. and of course, since it's Ohio, the temps are going to drop 40 fucking degrees by tomorrow. joy.

i did all of the grocery shopping today at the local grocery store. i was able to find most of what was on the list. it's a little more expensive than Kroger's, but at least i was able to find shit like bread, cheese, tissues, etc. i managed to keep it under $100, so i'm happy with that. i explained to mom last night that we might have to spend a bit more on shit during this pandemic. mostly because capitalism is as fucking evil as possible.

NXT UK was really good last night.

and now, the monsoon...

we had a little over an inch of rain yesterday. we're supposed to get closer to 2 inches of rain today. joy.

i was hoping to get all my running around done before the rain started, but of course that didn't happen.

i made it to the bank and made my deposit. and then i went to get my sunglasses. they called this morning and acted like they had been there for months. i bitched the lady out and told her i called last month and was told they weren't there. so, i went and got them today since the office is going to be closed for the next 2 weeks. i waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes before i got to go in and get the sunglasses. by the time i got out, it had started raining. joy. i had to go to the grocery store to pick up my medications. that was another 30 minutes out of my life i'll never get back. after that, mom wanted me to go get lunch in town. thankfully, all the drive-thrus are still open.

i swear, it's always fucking something...

i'm pretty much over my sinus infection. i have had to take medicine only once today. that's a good sign.

The Masked Singer was good last night. sadly, the satellite fucked up and i lost 7 minutes of everything i was recording. thankfully, i didn't miss much of anything.

NXT was more of a clip show last night. it was a pretty good buildup for the next Takeover.

AEW was really fucking good last night.

i'm not sure if i'm going grocery shopping tomorrow or not. fuck, i'm not sure any of the stores around here have shit anymore.

i saw today that the New Orleans Saints are bringing back Malcolm Jenkins. this makes me extremely happy. one of my favorite players to ever play at Ohio State and the Saints. hopefully the team will have the same success they had his rookie year.
