the first round of thunder

when i woke up this morning and was in pain, i knew it must have rained overnight. sure enough, i was right. it's rained on and off all day and now the thunder has arrived. i'm not even going to bother to put out the trash tonight as it is supposed to storm all night long. good times.

i was really hoping Monday Night Raw was going to be good last night since they have a ppv this weekend. apparently, someone forgot to tell the writers that they need to have a good show before a ppv. for most of the evening, i was flipping the channels.

Hate Thy Neighbor was really interesting last night. it always amazes me when a racist doesn't believe he is racist. and honestly, i think the only way you can eradicate hatred in this world is to simply get rid of all organized religions.

there were a couple performances i really liked last night on The Voice.

i sent out 10 poems today; 5 each to Live Nude Poems and Horror Sleaze Trash. i will pass along the verdicts when i hear back from them.

i listened to the latest Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Podcast today. i highly recommend checking it out. you can find it by going here: https://soundcloud.com/jimandsamshow/ep-015-sam-had-a-baby

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be: Vice News Tonight, WWE Smackdown, The Voice and Taboo. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Washington. the Rangers made a trade today, picking up a defenseman from Detroit. they had to give up 2 draft picks for him, but that's better than the 4 picks or players they would have had to give up to get Kevin Shattenkirk. of course, Washington traded for him. hopefully the Rangers will sign him in the summer. as for whom the Rangers got, i really think Brendan Smith is going to help the defense. at least i hope he will.

now they are saying we have the chance for tornadoes tonight. good times. i think the fuckers that do the weather around here knows it is mostly old people that watch the news. they are simply trying to scare the shit out of them most of the time.

that's all for me today kids. i'm going to go back to bed.

what a time to be alive

so i was busy watching the Sunday night shows when i overhead mom say, you're shitting me, while she was watching the Oscars. i laughed and asked what was going on and she said probably the greatest fuck up on live television i have ever seen. i watched it later online and completely understood. i feel bad for everyone involved, especially the people involved with Moonlight. it figures that a black movie would get their moment stole from them, even if it was for just a few minutes. as i heard someone mention this morning, think if they would have said Moonlight was the winner and then awarded it to La La Land. at least the accounting firm admitted they fucked up today and took full responsibility for it. well, i guess that's one way to get people talking about the Oscars again...

the New York Rangers lost yesterday to Columbus 5-2. it was a good loss actually, as it put the Rangers back into the top wildcard spot. that's exactly where they want to be so they can avoid all the teams in their division until later in the playoffs.

Homeland was excellent last night. it had a wonderful holy shit ending once again.

Billions was really good last night.

Big Little Lies was great last night. the show is so well acted it's crazy.

Girls was amazingly great last night. it might have been the best episode of the show ever.

Crashing was pretty funny last night. it was great to see Gina Gershon again.

Last Week Tonight was awesome, as usual.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be: Vice News Tonight, The Voice and Hate Thy Neighbor. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i did a little poetry work today. i'll probably be sending out 10 poems tomorrow morning.

now that mom is up from her afternoon nap (i think she's getting sick with what i had last week), i need to go vacuum the house and clean some toilets.

that's all for me kids. i hope everyone had a great weekend.

dare to Zlatan

Manchester United did not play well today. to be honest, the first goal for Southampton should have counted, but thank god they called it offside. 2 great first half goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jesse Lingard put United up 2-0. Southampton got 1 back right before halftime and then equalized shortly after halftime. i was not pleased to say the least. it took United nearly 80 minutes or so to get a handle on the game. it probably helped that Southampton took out their striker that scored both goals (all 3 if the first one would have counted). thankfully, United got a little lucky and Ander Herrera made a beautiful cross to the God of Manchester. Zlatan scored again in the 87th minute and United held on to win the EFL Cup. i'm definitely going to enjoy this one...

the New York Rangers pissed away a lead yesterday but thankfully got a late goal in the 3rd and the winner in OT to beat New Jersey yesterday 4-3. they play later today at home against Columbus.

ROH was pretty good last night.

i got my laundry done yesterday and got a trip to the grocery done, all while it was blowing snow outside. good times.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade this morning. i'll post the link in the music section.

i know the Daytona 500 is today and so are the Academy Awards. i doubt i watch much of either.

a big thank you to Rhode Island for beating VCU yesterday. that means that game on March 1st is not only senior night for the Dayton Flyers, it will also be their chance to win their first outright conference championship EVER. i can't fucking wait.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

and just when you thought all hope was lost...

the Dayton Flyers did not play well last night. their defense couldn't seem to figure out Davidson's offense for anything. and Dayton had no answer for Davidson's best players, both born in Ohio mind you. that was until there was about 7 minutes left in the game. Dayton was trailing by 13 and suddenly, they flipped the switch. a furious comeback, started with Scoochie Smith on the bench (4 fouls) got them even in the last minute of regulation. both teams missed shots late and the game went to OT. this was when Scoochie more or less told everyone to get the fuck out of the way and took over. he didn't make a single field goal in regulation and then came out and scored Dayton's first 11 points of OT on 3 three-pointers and a layup. talk about stealing a game that i certainly thought was going to trip them up. Dayton won 89-82. no matter what VCU does today at Rhode Island (please lose), that game March 1st at UD Arena is going to be fucking electric. at least for a few hours, Dayton is in first place in the A10.
the best thing of all is this was Dayton's first undefeated February since 1971.

the storms weren't too bad last night. the satellite went out for a bit, but was back on before all the shows i wanted to see came on. i checked this morning and it didn't look like the wind caused much damage, mostly just some limbs. now, i didn't care for the snow flurries i saw while opening the window blinds...

Vice was excellent last night. two stories on Syria and the cost of climate change. i truly wish more people would watch shit like this and educate themselves.

NJPW was great last night. i really enjoyed the match between Kushida and Will Ospreay.

Real Time with Bill Maher was pretty good last night as well.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

the New York Rangers play today at New Jersey. it's the first of back to backs as they play tomorrow at home against Columbus. hopefully the boys can get a win today.

and here comes hell

so the wind has been blowing like it's the end of the world for most of the day so far. a massive cold front is supposed to come through tonight with the usual thunder, hail, possible tornadoes, you know, usual February shit. after it goes through, the temperatures will go from the 70's to the 30's. good times.

baseball is back. the New York Yankees won today over Philadelphia 9-4 in spring training. hopefully the Yankees will be better this season. and hopefully they stick with the youth movement.

my order from Amazon.com came today. thankfully the mailman didn't try to stuff it in the mailbox.

the New York Rangers won last night 2-1 over Toronto in a shootout. it was yet another come from behind road win for the boys. it truly was the battle of Swedish goalies last night. thankfully, The King came out on top. the Rangers play tomorrow at New Jersey.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty good last night.

Life in Pieces was pretty good as well.

Baskets was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice, NJPW and Real Time with Bill Maher.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at Davidson. it's on ESPN2, so i'm really hoping the storms stay away until after the game.

my bones are really starting to ache, so i know the storms are getting closer. it's such a joy being 41 and feeling like you are in your fucking 70's.

i did write 5 poems this morning. i typed them up earlier and i think a couple of them are really good. i will probably do another round of submissions before the month is over. i have a couple places in mind to send to.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i imagine mom will have me running somewhere to get something. my luck, it'll be snowing.

mom wanted Chinese food for lunch today. i'm not a big fan of having body parts swell from too much salt, so i only got some pork egg rolls and crab rangoon. my fortune cookie made me laugh though. it said the mysterious side of your nature makes you most alluring. i laughed and wondered when a female is going to figure that out.

and the train keeps rolling

i was very pleased with how Manchester United played today. going on the road is never easy in the Europa League. i guess the 3-0 lead from the first game certainly helped. United won today 1-0, despite having to play the last 30 minutes of the game with 10 men. now, i didn't like the injuries to Carrick and Mkhitaryan, as they will probably miss the League Cup Final this Sunday. but, with how United is playing now, their depth is certainly coming in handy. they are now on to the final 16 of the Europa League. hopefully they will be raising their first trophy of this season on Sunday.

the Dayton Flyers won last night 83-70 over George Mason. it was almost like watching a NBA game. it was a game of runs. Dayton would get up by 10 and then it was right back down to 1. Dayton had a 20-0 run in the second half that sort of put the game away. that all happened with the starters on the bench. the sophomore class has started calling themselves the 2K19 gang. they were responsible for most of that 20 point run. John Crosby, normally a human turnover for most of the season, played his best game of his career last night. 3 huge three pointers and no turnovers. easily, player of the game.
that's 100 wins for the senior class and a guaranteed double bye in the A10 tournament. next game is on Friday at Davidson. hopefully the boys aren't looking past that one, as the huge game against VCU is after that.

the New York Rangers lost to Montreal last night 3-2 in a shootout. i didn't get to see any of the game as it was over by the time i got home. at least they got a point. they next play tomorrow at Toronto.

i thought Smackdown was really good last night.

205 Live was really good as well.

Taboo was spectacular last night. i can't fucking wait to see what happens next week on the season finale.

my sister starts her new job in a few days. best of luck to her after so many years in one place. i told her to look at the bright side. if she likes her new job, she probably can work 10 years, take early retirement and then just travel the world for the rest of her life.

when your underwear looks like a Rorschach test

from the title, you can imagine what happened as i tried to get to the bathroom this morning. i just love being sick. i am down 15 lbs. though, so i'm either losing weight or dying. i honestly can see the positives for both.

Monday Night Raw was ok but pretty boring for most of the show. i loved seeing the old Kevin Owens finally returning. and seeing just how athletic Braun Strowman is, push that motherfucker to the moon Vince.

Hate Thy Neighbor was pretty interesting. Sweden certainly looks like a place i could live, especially when the far left is the ones that beat the shit out of the Nazi youths.

Unlocking the Cage was very interesting last night. i think i ended up watching that more than wrestling actually. it could be an amazing world if the judicial system in this country ever catches up to science. i know, i started to laugh as well.

remind me again why i root for the Sacramento Kings?

i woke up this morning and went through my emails. since i didn't watch much of the NBA All-Star game last night, i had no clue what kind of stupid shit the Sacramento Kings did last night. i figured they would trade DeMarcus Cousins, but i figured it would be for more than some fucking spare parts and draft picks. but, once again, it's the Sacramento Kings. they can't get anything right, no matter what the fuck it is. so, they traded Cousins and Omri Casspi to New Orleans for Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans and a 1st and 2nd round draft pick in this year's draft. the first round pick can't be a top 3 pick, so most likely it will be around 10 or so. so they traded an All-Star for 3 guards that stink and two picks they will fuck up. great. at least Boogie gets out and now gets to play with his good friend Anthony Davis. the Kings are definitely testing my fucking loyalty on this one.

the NBA All-Star game was mostly a dunk exhibition and a glorified pick up game from what i did see.

Homeland was really good last night.

Billions was good last night. i do see why so many people think the show is bad though.

Big Little Lies was excellent last night. i never read the book, so i was coming into the show not knowing what to expect. i do love a well acted murder mystery.

Girls was pretty funny last night.

Crashing was really fucking funny last night. i love comedy and know of so many of the comics in the show, i really think i will enjoy it.

Last Week Tonight was fucking brilliant as usual.

i managed to get some sleep last night without the help of NyQuil, so hopefully the worst of my cold is now over. of course, i figure the 2 rum and cokes last night did help me sleep.

indiana jones to the rescue

when Manchester United was trailing 1-0 to Blackburn today, i was not happy. Blackburn is not good, not good at all. thankfully, Marcus Rashford scored to equalize by halftime. things started to drag in the second half, so bring on the super subs... Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. sure enough, those two would join up for the eventual game winner. Manchester United won 2-1. they have advanced to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. their reward will be a game at Chelsea in the next round. oh joy.

the New York Rangers defeated Washington today 2-1. that was a nice way to kick off Hockey Day in America.

ROH last night was really good. i love that Christopher Daniels is still as good as he is today as he was 15 to 20 years ago.

the NBA Saturday night festivities were ok last night. the 3 point contest was good. the dunk contest was boring. and i love that the big men seem to always beat the guards in the skills competition.

i survived

well, i made it through the Dayton Flyers game without coughing a ton or really having any problems. of course, i nearly tripled the amount of NyQuil you're supposed to take last night. i think that did the trick. as for the game...

Dayton came out flat and paid for it. it wasn't long before they were down by 15 points. i feared the worst. thankfully, they cut the lead to 6 by halftime. Dayton came out on fire in the second half and quickly got the lead back. St. Bonaventure kept it pretty close, or i should say their point guard kept it close. he ended up with 35 for the game. Dayton ended up winning the game, 76-72. that puts them back in a first place tie with VCU. i believe they have a 3 game lead on the rest of the league. Dayton plays again on Tuesday against George Mason.

it was great to see Brian Roberts go into the Hall of Fame at halftime of the game today. he's one of the best shooters i have ever seen at Dayton.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of reporting.

NJPW was excellent last night. i could watch Will Ospreay wrestle forever and never get bored.

Real Time with Bill Maher was fucking hilarious last night.

and here i thought i was the asshole

i went to the post office today to mail a bill out since whoever does our mail decided today of all days they would get it done before 11 AM. so, as i'm walking up to the door, i notice this woman walking up from the other side. now, regardless of how i look, i do try to be polite as much as possible. so, i held the door open for her. the look of disgust on her face was comical. i figured she was probably a lesbian. i dropped my mail in the slot and started to laugh. there has to be a poem coming soon i suppose. then i went to the grocery store. sun was out and it was getting warmer. and here i am sucking on cough drops hoping to get what i need to get before another coughing fit comes on. if i didn't have to get more cough syrup or NyQuil, it would have been under $100 again. of course, i did stop in the liquor store and got some spiced rum (they didn't have my favorite, fuck) and a bottle of Jagermeister. one way or another, this cough is going to die.

i'm really hoping to kill it tonight as i really want to go to the Dayton Flyers game tomorrow. halftime will be the Hall of Fame ceremonies and Brian Roberts is one of the inductees this year. he's one of my favorite players ever at Dayton. so, hopefully i'll be going to the game tomorrow. if not, i'll be pissed off watching it on television.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty funny last night.

Life in Pieces was hilarious last night.

Baskets was too fucking funny last night. the shit water coming up from the toilet was fucking hilarious.

the New York Rangers lost to the fucking Islanders last night, 4-2. so much for that 6 game winning streak. they play next on Sunday at home against Washington.

the cough that won't go away

for some fucking reason, i can't seem to shake this cough i've had for almost 2 weeks now. it's truly fucking annoying the shit out of me. i forced myself to write last night. first time i've written anything in 13 days. 4 poems. i think they are pretty good. i suppose time will tell. i've been trying to sleep more, hoping that would give the white blood cells some time to get to work. apparently they are full of apathy as well. good times.

Manchester United did not play well today at all. if Saint-Etienne could have shot the ball on goal, United would have been in trouble. instead, Zlatan Ibrahimovic got his first Manchester United hat trick to give United a 3-0 win in Europa League action today. United next plays on Sunday in the FA Cup.

i know i need to go to the grocery store tomorrow. i will probably be on here after that i guess. my hopes of going to the basketball game this weekend has greatly diminished. i wanted this cough to be gone for at least a couple days before i went to sit with 13,000 people again.

i heard back from Mark at Otoliths on my recent poetry submission. my poems "lost dreams", "every disease" and "out to play" have been accepted for publication in the next issue. that comes out on May 1st.

98 and still counting

when i turned the Dayton Flyers on last night, the game was about 5 minutes old and Saint Louis still hadn't scored. that told me everything i needed to know. i love when a team takes no prisoners and refuses to play down to its competition. Dayton won last night, 85-63. honestly, the game never felt that close. the senior class set the record for most wins and i feel pretty confident that they are nowhere close to being finished this season. most encouraging for me is that Dayton is much closer to being 100% healthy again. music to my ears. they play again this Saturday at home. hopefully this fucking cough will be gone by then.

Smackdown was really good last night. i loved the triple threat match between Bray Wyatt, John Cena and AJ Styles. having Bray win and keep the title should prove that he belongs in that conversation.

205 Live was really good as well last night. i can't wait for Austin Aries to start wrestling again.

Taboo was great last night, as usual. amazingly, the show keeps getting darker. it's slowly filling my Penny Dreadful void.

i did listen to the latest Jim Norton & Sam Roberts podcast. you can check that out by going here:

i heard back from Bop Dead City on my recent poetry submission. they passed on what i sent but would like to see more in the future.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the Europa League.

happy it must be nice if you found the right one day

i started thinking about this today and i realized i have been single for 41 straight Valentine's Days. i'm sure a good number of them have been by choice but, especially for poetic purposes, a good number have also been the process of elimination. i have often wrote about being on the wrong side of that process. it's not fun. so, part of me would love to break this streak. but, part of me also understands i'd have a better chance of winning the lottery or brokering peace in the Middle East.

mom felt well enough today that she didn't take her walker with her when we went out and about. she also didn't use a cane. i made sure to be close enough to her that she wouldn't fall. hopefully this means her back is much better and now it's just about getting the hip better.

the New York Rangers won last night in Columbus, 3-2. that's 6 wins in a row. they next play on Thursday at the Islanders.

Monday Night Raw was spectacular last night. Bayley winning the Women's Championship was great. but, the best part of the show to me was Kevin Owens. i think him turning on Jericho now caught everyone off guard. that's why it was so fucking perfect. now, the badass that takes no shit, fuck the world, Kevin Owens is back.

Hate Thy Neighbor was very interesting last night. watching a gay pride parade in Jerusalem and seeing both sides of it was both good and bad. i love the number of people that are against hate. i hate the fact that some old man is taking poor boys and making them soldiers for their version of a religion. i thought the host made the best statement though. both sides love to talk, but neither of them listen. now everyone can understand why nothing gets done for peace in the Middle East.

Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis was brilliant last night. i'm not a huge fan of the band, but i am definitely a bigger fan after watching the documentary. the footage from Paris and the terrorist attack was amazing to watch. i'm not going to lie, i had a few tears during the documentary. i highly recommend checking this out.

the finale of The Young Pope was great last night. i didn't think i was going to enjoy the series but in the end, it was much better than i thought it was going to be.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, WWE Smackdown and Taboo. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the Dayton Flyers play at Saint Louis tonight. this is a game they MUST win and in doing so, the senior class will set the program record for most wins by one class in their 4 years. i'm really hoping to drink to that tonight.

a quick heads up, look for some of my poetry in the morning...

i'm not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i still have the trash to pick up here and next door, so that's all for now.
