now, it feels like winter...

so, i didn't get to sleep until around 5 this morning. when i got up, roughly 4 or 5 hours later, i looked to see what the temperature was outside. my phone said 0 but feels like -11. oh joy, now winter is definitely here.

i was hoping to get this done before Manchester United started today. so much for that. they are currently playing at home against Tottenham. it is 2-2 in the second half.

the New York Rangers pissed away a lead yesterday and lost at Washington, 3-2. they play them at home today. hopefully, they end this fucking losing streak.

i did watch both NFL playoff games yesterday. the Texans whipped the Browns, 45-14. the Chiefs beat the Dolphins last night, 26-7. today, the games are Packers at Cowboys and Rams at Lions.

AEW Collision and AEW Battle of the Belts were both pretty good last night.

Austin City Limits was excellent last night.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of The Curse, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and True Detective: Night Country.

i did go to Rite Aid yesterday to pick up some prescriptions. that looks like a wise decision as it was probably 20 degrees warmer yesterday.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:

hope everyone stays warm today.

the breaking point...

so, i finally had enough last night. tossing and turning in bed, i got up at 4:40 this morning and said fuck it. i went to the freezer and got an ice pack. i went out to the living room and got in my massage chair. i woke up there at a little after 8 this morning. i swear, it shouldn't be this hard to fucking sleep.

instead of opening the blog with another fucking Yankees loss, i'll start with the USMNT.

when the USA trailed Honduras, 1-0, at halftime yesterday, i was pissed. i didn't like the formation they were playing or the players they selected. thankfully, the coach realized some of his own fuck ups and made some changes right from the start of the second half. those subs made all the difference. plus, i really, REALLY want to fucking believe the USA has finally found their number 9. Ricardo Pepi made his debut last night and honestly, he had the game of his life. the USA won 4-1 and Pepi was involved in every one of the goals. when he scored the go ahead goal, i screamed Pepi at the top of my lungs. i believe my mother was just shaking her head, knowing her son is now insane. this puts the USA in 3rd place in World Cup qualifying and should (hopefully) set them up good for the next cycle of games in October.

now to the Yankees. when they tied the game last night at 3, on a home run by Brett Gardner, the last player on the Yankees that actually played with Derek Jeter, i was encouraged. silly me. the Blue Jays won last night, 6-3. they are no longer in first for the wildcard and will most likely get swept tonight. and that will lead into a weekend series at the Mets. if George was alive, i honestly believe Aaron Boone might be hanging from a tree at the moment.

AEW was excellent last night. if they are honestly going the direction of Kenny Omega vs. Bryan Danielson, just take all my fucking money right now.

Big Brother was good last night. Claire will be voted out tonight. i can't wait until the houseguests find out tonight will be a double eviction.

American Horror Story: Double Feature was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother, Holey Moley, When Nature Calls, What We Do in the Shadows and Dark Side of the Ring. i already watched NXT UK this afternoon. it was really good.

oh, and a little thing called the NFL starts back up tonight. Tampa Bay plays Dallas and honestly, i couldn't give a shit.

i think i am going to try to get some poems out tomorrow. if i actually get that done, i should be on here after that. i do hope to have the blog done before my sister comes down tomorrow. i think she's spending the weekend here.

it has been really nice today. i have had the windows open since this morning. good times.

trade deadline day...

today is the trade deadline day in the MLB. so, i'm typing this up with one eye on the TV and my phone to see if the Yankees make any moves, especially after they shocked me yesterday by getting Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs. no one saw that coming.

so, let's start with the Yankees game yesterday. they lost to the Rays, 14-0. i turned the damn game off in the first inning. not good. the Yankees start a series tonight down in Miami. oh great, National League rules again.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

NXT UK was very good yesterday.

Big Brother was good last night. Brent got evicted and Christian is the new HOH.

Desus & Mero was hilarious last night.

the USMNT defeated Qatar last night, 1-0. they will face Mexico in the final of the Gold Cup on Sunday, as they defeated Canada last night, 2-1.

the USA women's basketball team defeated Japan last night, 86-69.

the USWNT defeated the Netherlands today at the Olympics in a penalty shootout, 2-2 (4-2). that advances them to the semifinals against Canada.

so it cost $271 to get the garage door fixed this morning. the circuit board was blown and the spring needed to have more tension on it. the guy doing it had a very thick Russian accent. thankfully, i could understand him.

so, at the time that was going on, my mother had her nurse and her physical therapist here. talk about a zoo.

i did watch a decent amount of the NBA Draft last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, The Shop, Real Time with Bill Maher and Back on the Record With Bob Costas. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on Peacock.

thankfully, the humidity and heat sort of broke today. i was able to turn the AC off and air the house out a bit.

so, apparently the Yankees just traded for Andrew Heaney from the Angels. they gave two prospects from the minor leagues for him. he's a left handed pitcher, but i don't know if they are planning on using him as a starter or in relief.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

5 hours of sleep, watch out world...

i got 3 hours of sleep in my massage chair last night and 2 more in my bed. that's the first time i have slept more than 30 minutes in my bed in a week. once again, i had to completely exhaust my body to get any sleep. good times.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

High Maintenance was really good last night.

U2: Experience - Live in Berlin was great last night. i've never seen U2 in concert, so this was as close as i'll probably ever get.

the New York Rangers won in Columbus last night, 3-1.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

the Dayton Flyers play this afternoon at UMass. hopefully Dayton will keep on winning.

i'm sure i'll watch some other college basketball games today, along with some XFL.

this weekend is the NBA All-Star weekend. i'll watch the dunk contest and three point shootout tonight for sure.

i'll be on here tomorrow before NXT Takeover: Portland takes place.

that's all for me kids.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

until then...

4 down, 7 to go...

the New York Yankees won last night in Houston, 7-0. Tanaka and Gleyber Torress were great last night. hopefully, the Yankees can steal Game 2 tonight.

the New York Rangers lost yesterday to Edmonton, 4-1. Kakko did score his first NHL goal, but it was downhill from there for the team.

the biggest upset yesterday in college football was Georgia losing in 2 OT at home to South Carolina.

NJPW was excellent last night.

ROH was good last night.

Austin City Limits was good last night.

Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Batwoman, the season finale of Succession, the season finale of The Righteous Gemstones, the series finale of Ballers, Last Week Tonight, Power, The Affair and On Becoming A God in Central Florida.

the New Orleans Saints play this afternoon at Jacksonville. hopefully, they can keep on winning.

as long as mom doesn't have anything pop up tomorrow (regarding her health), i should be on here in the early afternoon i suppose.

ever since mom fell, it feels like i am on call 24/7. i didn't get to bed until 5 AM this morning and only slept in 45 minute intervals. joy.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday is even better.

out slumming with the locals

mom wants lunch today to have a picnic feel for some fucking reason. so, she sent me to the local grocery store to get coleslaw, potato salad, etc. i just love going out in the fucking heat to have a bunch of backward thinking locals stare at me while i'm ordering 6 different things from the deli. i was encouraged to actually see a black girl and two Hispanic kids in the store while i was there. it would delight me beyond belief to see this community get more diverse. better yet, i would love to see all the racist people flee as it becomes more diverse.

the New York Yankees got some more great starting pitching last night and absolutely whipped Baltimore 16-3. it was the first time in over nine years the Yankees have had 4 straight games with 8 or more runs. hopefully today will become the 5th straight game as they go for the sweep.

i ended up watching a good amount of UFC last night. plenty of quick knockouts, that's for sure.

ROH last night was excellent. i would love to see a nice long feud between Adam Cole and Marty Scurll.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Week Tonight, Twin Peaks: The Return and I'm Dying Up Here.

i will be watching the USA men's national team try to win down in Mexico for most of tonight. if the USA can pull of the miracle, it will give them a much needed boost in their World Cup qualifying.

i might watch a little of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight, if Nashville is winning.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

happy birthday to the biggest crush i had in my life. i hope you are doing great, wherever you may be.

it was going to end sometime

when i saw the lineup that Manchester United put out this morning, i certainly thought it was a lineup that "could" beat Arsenal today. of course, after watching the first half and a couple of chances that should have been goals (what else is new), i knew i was wrong. when Arsenal scored 2 in the second half, i just turned the game off. i knew the unbeaten streak was going to be over and all hope of finishing in the top 4 as well. so, now all the eggs are in the Europa basket i guess.

the New York Rangers pissed away another game they should have won yesterday. they blew a 2 goal lead yet again and lost in overtime 4-3. they now trail in the series 3-2. Game 6 will be Tuesday at MSG. part of me almost hopes they lose so the coach gets fired and i can fucking shave.

thankfully, the New York Yankees scored early and often yesterday against the Cubs. they won 11-6. they go for the sweep tonight.

Always Dreaming winning the Kentucky Derby yesterday was rather appropriate i suppose.

ROH was excellent last night.

Saturday Night Live was pretty damn funny last night.

Chris Gethard: Career Suicide was fucking fantastic last night. i laughed, i cried, some of it hit really close to home, but overall it was great.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Lip Sync Battle, Veep, Silicon Valley, Last Week Tonight, Guerrilla and the season finale of Billions.

i did do a little writing after i turned the game off this morning. i wrote 5 poems. i like most of them after i typed them up this afternoon.

i fed the birds this afternoon as well. they almost allowed me to walk away before they attacked the suet i put out.

i was so happy to find out yesterday that Dayton finally has a point guard. Jalen Crutcher out of Memphis, Tennessee signed with the Flyers. he's going to be a good one from what i have seen of him.

congrats to France for not fucking up the world.

i got some great FREE music this morning on NoiseTrade. i'll post the link below in the music section.

that's all for me kids. i have dishes to go do.

and we don't even have the tree up yet...

nearly every house in this pseudo retirement cul-de-sac i live in has Christmas lights up. i doubt we do that this year. fuck, we don't even have a tree up yet. with mom being hurt, i don't think either one of us are feeling too much like celebrating at the moment.

i had 2 rum and cokes last night and i woke up this morning with a cramp in my left leg. i think it had something to do with Castro, but i'm not sure. the rum is from Cuba.

Keanu was fucking stupid as hell last night but funny as fuck. i laughed my ass off.

Pete Holmes: Faces and Sounds was pretty damn funny as well.

i recorded The Hateful Eight but i'm going to probably watch it sometime over the holidays.

Saturday Night Live was great last night. i love just how natural Emma Stone feels on that show.

ROH was really good last night as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of Westworld, Divorce, Shameless and The Affair. i will be watching WWE Network for most of the evening. the TLC ppv is tonight. it should be interesting.

Manchester United takes on Everton later this morning. i'm hoping they can find a way to get all 3 points. they desperately need them.

the New Orleans Saints take on Detroit today. the Saints are at home, so i'm expecting a shootout. hopefully i will be enjoying another round or two of victory beers tonight.

i hope everyone had a good Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

drink yourself to sleep

so, imagine my surprise yesterday when i completely forgot the New York Rangers were playing in the afternoon. i was watching Ohio State be completely disinterested in their game with Illinois and the score to the hockey game scrolled across the screen. oh fuck, i guess that's why i couldn't find a channel for the game at night. so, for the next 90 minutes or so, it was constant flipping back and forth.

Ohio State found a groove in the second half, mostly due to Ezekiel Elliott. plus, the defense yesterday was outstanding. although the score doesn't look sexy, a little better officiating and it would have. Ohio State won 28-3.

the New York Rangers won their 8th game in a row yesterday, beating Ottawa 2-1 in a shootout. both goals in regulation were scored in the first period, which i didn't see, so from the middle of the second period on it was a pretty tight game. a big two thumbs up to Chris Kreider for standing up for a teammate and completely rag-dolling a motherfucker after a hit to the head. of course, The King was up to his usual tricks. and by the end of the shootout, the sun had shined on a dog's ass once again. (hello to you Dan Boyle). the boys go for 9 in a row tonight at home against Toronto.

Saturday Night Live was very good last night. the opening was very classy and i thought the sketches were way fucking funnier than last week. ROH was excellent as well.

i couldn't get my back loose for anything yesterday. but, after a few victory drinks (that were mostly whiskey), my back was good enough that i could get some sleep.

the Marlon Brando documentary on Showtime last night, Listen To Me Marlon, was excellent. i highly recommend it.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

i'm slowly getting really pissed that it is becoming harder and harder to find the videos i want to include in this blog each day. if that happens to continue, either the number of videos will decrease or this blog will be on WordPress or Tumblr before too long.

on the DVR tonight will be Homeland, The Affair and Last Week Tonight.

the New Orleans Saints play at the Washington Redskins today. hopefully the Saints can get a win.

i'm hoping my fantasy football teams do good today. i do have some injury concerns, so that's always fun.

my fantasy hockey team looks like it's going to have yet another losing week. i'm just good enough to almost win each week. this is getting fucking frustrating.

i suppose i should go see if my mother is still alive. i haven't seen her at all this morning.

i have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. it's with an orthopedic doctor. i'm sure he'll be thrilled when i tell him about my bad ankle and bad back. on top of arthritis that is getting worse by the day.

i have no clue if i will blog before or after the appointment tomorrow. i suppose it depends on how this long ass day goes.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i do hope your Sunday is even better.

these hands were made for pain

my mother and i worked on the garage for hours yesterday. i got done just in time to watch the horse race. that made me happy. of course, when i walked out there this morning and saw shit barely hanging on the wall, i knew the work wasn't done. we were trying to use this spray adhesive so we wouldn't have to use thumbtacks. so, i was busing using the thumbtacks this morning. my fingers are in so much fucking pain right now. which of course, is why i'm typing. when your mantra is find the pleasure in the pain, you sort of need the pain in order to find the pleasure. funny how that works. the garage does look different. my sister will shit the next time she is here.

i was happy to see American Pharoah become the first horse to win the grand slam yesterday. that's certainly the horse i have been waiting my entire adult life for.

i more or less flipped between college football, NBA, NHL and cooking shows last night. the Saturday Night Live Halloween special was the same one they ran a few years ago. ROH was really good. i still have it on the DVR, as i will probably watch it again later today. Austin City Limits was excellent last night.

the Sacramento Kings lost a nail biter yesterday, 114-109. no shame in losing to a Clippers team that should be great this season. after 3 games this season, i do believe the Kings will be MUCH better this season. not sure if they will make the playoffs, but they will be closer than anyone thinks at this point of the season.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Homeland, The Affair and Last Week Tonight.

the New Orleans Saints take on the New York Giants today. hopefully the Saints can keep the winning going.

my fantasy hockey team pulled even last night. not sure if i've got enough players going tonight to squeak out a victory. but i can live with 5-5 for the week.

i'm an underdog in all 3 of my fantasy football matchups today. my winning streak is bound to end sometime.

the evil side of me would love to see the Mets lose the World Series at home tonight. i won't be watching, but i know i would enjoy it.

i hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween. hope your Dia de los Muertos will be even better.

summer isn't made for fat people

nothing like breaking out in a sweat when taking a few steps outside to go check the mailbox. and here i thought the storms that rolled through last night was going to cool things down a bit. so much for that.

the storms did knock out the satellite for a little bit. i didn't mind as the Yankees were getting pounded at the moment. but, i was trying to record NJPW on the DVR. that screwed that up. thankfully, i got to see the main event. that was great as usual.

the Yankees lost last night 11-3. the only bright spot was getting to see Mason Williams finally play in the big leagues. they play again tonight at Baltimore. thankfully, i believe the game will be blacked out for me.

VICE was excellent last night. if you have any interest in what is going on in the Middle East, it's a MUST watch episode:

i did manage to write 5 pretty damn good poems last night. i typed those up this morning. that should give me enough poems to send out a quick submission or two this coming week.

mom surprised me this morning and paid me the money i made in the auction. that should be an interesting look at the bank when i bring in a couple grand in cash to deposit.

here's some funny shit from last night:

i got a $15 code for iTunes yesterday. so, i tried to catch up on some songs i've been wanting to buy but i was busy being cheap. you'll see all that down in the music section.

i think most of my day today is going to involve soccer. from the Women's World Cup to the Copa America to the European qualifiers, i should have enough to keep me busy or put me to sleep.

the USA women played Sweden to a 0-0 draw last night. i'm not sure what's up with the USA forwards. i hope they realize they do need to score at some point if they want to win it all.

tonight will be a mix of some hockey, Austin City Limits, ROH and god knows what else. on the DVR will be Power, a very underrated show on Starz.

enjoy a quick music break:

my new chair is a radical change for me. everything is motorized. that should help me when my arthritis is killing me. plus, the massage on it worked pretty good yesterday. i figure once i get used to it, i should be able to nap in it pretty easily.

the trip to the grocery store yesterday was pretty interesting. about 5 minutes after we arrived, the bone spurs in my right foot went nuts. that was fun walking with a limp the entire time. the only thing that got me through was the lovely women. it might be the only reason why i tolerate the fucking heat. seeing women wearing next to nothing or something short and tight certainly helps me get through the day. as you might imagine, yes, one of the poems last night was about that.

that's pretty much all for me today. i do hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. hopefully you'll have a chance to lounge in the shade with a cold beverage that someone else bought.
