response from Academy Of The Heart And Mind
i heard back from Academy Of The Heart And Mind on my recent poetry submission. my poems "to let my youth go", "a bottle and a broken heart", "my invisible friend", "the easy way" and "a little happiness" have been accepted for publication. they should appear around mid to late October.
who drinks coffee and then gets sleepy?
i swear, i think i'm the only person on earth that fucking drinks coffee and then gets sleepy. it never fails. i'll have a nice cup of coffee and in under 2 hours i'm slowly drained and tired. or, maybe my body is just slowly rejecting all of life.
you would think this morning would have been a good one. 3 different poems published. another morning alive. yet, i opened a fucking email from my former best friend that was written last night and that has left a shitty taste in my mouth. i'm guessing she had to write the email to somehow, in her mind, be the better person before she dies. she wanted to forgive me. that made me laugh out loud. this coming from the cunt who went to the authorities and said i was stealing from her. i couldn't give two shits what stage your cancer is or how close you are to dying. in my world, you are already dead.
i did watch a good portion of the New York Rangers game last night. although it was a pre-season game, if the team is going to play like that all season, they will at least be entertaining. the Rangers defeated New Jersey 4-3 in OT last night.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, The Jim Jefferies Show and Mayans M.C.
the New York Yankees game that was supposed to be played this afternoon is now going to be played tonight. all that does is make Boston wait a few hours before celebrating.
i'm getting ready to go out with mom and get a new television for the living room. i think after we go to Best Buy she'll want to go out to lunch.
i will be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in the Champions League.

i wish my brain could just shut down for a few hours...
these endless cycles of falling asleep around 5 in the morning are eventually going to kill me. the question i ask myself always is will i actually get to truly fall in love before that happens or will i die like one of my sad poems? and the fact that that question is still being asked at the age 42 is not only sad, but fucking horrific. and as much as i want to believe that some woman is going to never believe her luck one day when she's with me, society has painted a completely different picture where my sad death alone seems like the only logical solution to any of this. and in between that gulf is where all the poems come from.
i wrote 3 poems today while mom was getting her x-rays done. we went out to Perkins for lunch. when i got home, i had a little scare. there was a tornado warning for the area where the muse lives. thankfully, she's okay. i did type the poems up. i do think they are pretty good. i should have another batch of poems ready to go in a few days.
the New York Yankees pissed away a lead yesterday and lost to Toronto, 3-2. thank fucking god they are off tonight. the loss means that all Boston has to do is beat the Yankees once in the next 3 games and Boston wins the division and gets to celebrate at Yankee Stadium. i figure that will take place tomorrow afternoon. joy.
the New Orleans Saints played like shit yesterday. but, thankfully, Cleveland's kicker decided he no longer wanted a job in the NFL anymore. he missed 2 extra points and 2 field goals yesterday as the Saints beat the Brows 21-18. the Saints easily should have lost the game. not good.
WWE Hell in a Cell was really good last night. most of the matches exceeded what i thought was going to happen. and there was a nice holy shit moment at the end of the night that certainly makes things a little more interesting.
Big Brother was pretty good last night.
The Deuce was really good last night.
Ballers was good last night.
Insecure was fucking hilarious last night.
America to Me was very good last night.
Shameless was great last night.
Kidding was excellent once again last night.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

just when you think you know someone...
so the muse and i had a fascinating conversation last night. in the process, she revealed to me that she wants to have 2 children one day. i have known the muse for 15 years and this is the first time she ever has mentioned wanting to have children. so, this puts me in a pretty tricky spot. i love the muse with every drop of my soul. but, the last thing i want to do to is extend the life of my father's DNA. which sort of kills me, as i do believe i would be a good father as i know the litany of mistakes my parents have made. but, do i really want to bring another soul into this fucking world? of course, now i'm assuming the muse is actually going to decide she wants to be with me and have children with me. apparently i still have the Jagermeister from last night in my system.
Manchester United won 2-1 yesterday at Watford. that's a good win right before going on the road to play your first Champions League game.
the New York Yankees lost to Toronto yesterday, 8-7. the Yankees left a small village on base as apparently, they believe they are only allowed to score runs with home runs. god forbid a fucking single with a runner in scoring position or a damn sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and nobody out. nope, it's all or nothing. hopefully they will get a win today. they are calling up their top prospect today. he should be able to help them down the stretch in the bullpen.
Ohio State defeated TCU last night, 40-28. Ohio State erupted in the 3rd quarter and scored 20 points in like 4 minutes. that was the difference in the game.
ROH was really good last night.

breaking all the hearts
my poem "breaking all the hearts" has been published at The Beatnik Cowboy. you can find the poem by going here: https://beatnikcowboy.com/2018/09/15/j-j-campbell-7/
listening to a beautiful woman snore...
last night was one of those nights where i do hope the world understands the kind of friend i am. the muse went out and got drunk since the power was out at her place. she wanted to know about the weather around midnight. i had no problem letting her know and i told her to let me know when she got home safely. she sent me a message about 30 minutes later and said she was home and drunk. now, this isn't my first rodeo. i told her if she needed to talk, she could call me. about 2 minutes later, she called me on the computer. before too long the room was spinning and she thought she was going to puke. since i love her, i gave her the best advice i could. get something to hold your hair back and puke before you go to sleep. of course, she never puked while i was on the phone with her. 10 minutes after i gave her the advice she fell asleep on her side. i probably listened to her snore for 30 minutes before i woke her up and told her to hang up as i didn't want her to drain her phone with her power being out. look at me, always thinking ahead. she sent me a message this morning saying lol, i was super drunk. no shit.
hopefully the weather in the Carolinas will get better today. the storm is sadly moving at a fucking snail's pace at the moment.
i did write a poem while the muse was sleeping last night. i'll type that up sometime today.
the New York Yankees got a much needed victory last night over Toronto, 11-0. hopefully, they will get another one today.
VICE was really good last night.
NJPW was good last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.
i did watch Ring Warriors this morning on WGN America. thankfully, i wasn't expecting much. that being said, Saturday morning wrestling certainly reminds me of my youth.
Manchester United plays in a little while at Watford. hopefully the boys can somehow get 3 points on the road today.
Ohio State plays TCU down in Texas tonight where the Dallas Cowboys play. this should be a very good test to see how good Ohio State really is this season. plus, it's the last game of Urban Meyer's suspension.
between all that today i plan on doing my laundry. hopefully i get all of that done before tonight rolls around.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. enjoy your Saturday. call if you need bail money.

whenever i feel down or depressed in public, it never fails...
i'll always run into some beautiful woman or every other woman in the grocery store is one where i just hate myself even more. of all the fucking days... today was no exception. i've got this pain in my side that has lingered for a few days now. i swear last night i could feel a knot or something. my pain tolerance is so fucking high that it doesn't bother me, but now my head is fucking with me with thoughts of a tumor or a mass of some kind, etc. my inner child has wanted to die since the age of 8. so i went to the local grocery store first today. of course, there was this stunning blonde there with her meathead boyfriend. they were behind me in line. i did laugh on my way into the store. i saw two older black women going in. that nearly doubles the black population in this town that i know of. yet another reason why i would like to move to a bigger city, to once again experience diversity, that long lost thought of my youth. at the big grocery store, there was probably four or five women that were drop dead gorgeous. and of course, the one flaunting her ass in front of me in the produce section just happened to be in front of me in the checkout line. she smiled and i wanted to die. i believe these are the moments where any smile i could produce is replaced with misery. between both stores, getting mom's pills and gas for the Highlander, i think i kept it under $170. that's not too bad.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
Big Brother was excellent last night. Haleigh got evicted first. Tyler won the next HOH and hatched a perfect plan. Angela won the VETO and took JC off the block. Tyler blindsided Brett and Brett was evicted. nothing like a good blindside on double eviction night. of course, Tyler and Angela better hope they go to the finals together, or they probably just handed Kaycee $500,000. Angela is the new HOH.
Snowfall was heartbreaking last night. 2 deaths i didn't see coming and an ending that sets up a killer season finale.
i did watch a little of the Bengals vs. Ravens last night. the Ravens defensive coordinator was my economics teacher in high school. he still looks the same. and he still can't coach defense. the Bengals won 34-23.
enjoy some music:

the New York Yankees start a series at home tonight against Toronto. they really need a victory tonight, maybe even more than i need a drink.
i will be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays in the early afternoon. everything is timed out well for me tomorrow. United and when that is over the Yankees and when that is over, Ohio State vs. TCU. so, i should be able to get my laundry done while watching sports all day. at least that's the plan until mom decides she wants to do something.
i hope everyone has a good weekend. my thoughts are with everyone in the North and South Carolina. i know a few people in each state and really hope they are safe, dry and experiencing no damage at the moment.

well, mom has her new windows now...
i give the guys that put the windows in some credit. they got here a little before 10 this morning and they busted their asses and got this shit done by 3 this afternoon. 13 windows in a little over 5 hours. the one guy said they were scheduled for 2 days but wanted to get it done in 1 so they had tomorrow off. works for me. they do look really good. hopefully, they will help with the energy costs as well.
the New York Yankees almost got no hit last night by a pitcher they have killed over the years. they did manage a measly 2 hits in the 3-1 loss at Minnesota. the Yankees only have a 1 game lead over Oakland now. thank god they are off tonight. they start the final homestand of the season tomorrow.
NXT was really good last night.
the Mae Young Classic was good last night.
Big Brother was good last night. tonight is double eviction night. Haleigh will go first and i have no damn clue who will get evicted next.
Lucha Underground was very good last night.
Mr. Mercedes was excellent last night.
American Horror Story was fucking great last night.

the football game tonight is Baltimore vs. Cincinnati. i might watch some of it.
the rest of the night will probably be nothing but hurricane coverage.
i had a really good conversation with the muse last night. i do think our friendship is really strong at the moment. that's a welcome sight in my world, let me tell ya.
i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the grocery store.

so, i went in with my mother this afternoon at her doctor's appointment. the doctor looked a little dumbfounded when she told him that since he agreed with the one doctor on her disability claim, they are it taking it away. he explained to mom that he agreed with the report, but not with what the insurance company used as the basis to take away her claim. he welcomed talking to a lawyer and was really pissed when he found out that the doctor he agreed with actually never did an exam on mom. what amazed me about the visit was all the questions she was asked since she is on Medicare. after the nurse left, i told her to remind me to die before i turn 65. fuck me.
this appointment went on forever it seemed. it was easily over 60 minutes, maybe closer to 90. we went to Smokey Bones for our late lunch/early dinner. this was the first time we had gone in over a year. it was really, really good.
the New York Yankees lost last night to Minnesota, 10-5. of course, Sonny Gray was pitching. hopefully, the Yankees win tonight so they win the series and can maintain their lead for the first wildcard. they have just about pissed that away as well.
the USMNT defeated Mexico last night, 1-0 in Nashville. Tyler Adams scored his first international goal for the win. it's appropriate that a guy that plays for New York would score the winning goal on 9/11.
Smackdown was really good last night.
205 Live was good last night.
the season finale of Fuck That's Delicious was great last night.
Mayans M.C. was excellent last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Lucha Underground, Big Brother, Mr. Mercedes and American Horror Story. i'll watch NXT and the Mae Young Classic sometime tonight on WWE Network.
we've got just about everything moved away from the windows for tomorrow. we just have some stuff to move in the kitchen and that will get done tonight. all the blinds and curtains are down. i'm hoping the weather is really nice tomorrow and they can knock it out in a day. i know that's not likely, but i don't mind dreaming.
i've been keeping an eye on this damn hurricane. the muse lives down where this fucker is heading, so i'm a little more serious about following the track than normal. so far, this little turn it has taken has given me some relief, but not as much as i would like.
the window guys are supposed to be here between 8 and 10 in the morning. hopefully, i'll get to sleep before 3 in the morning like it has been for the last few nights.
i'll do a blog sometime tomorrow. your guess is as good as mine.

response from Otoliths
i heard back from Mark at Otoliths on my recent poetry submission. my poems "like we owned the fucker" and "finally saying yes" have been accepted for publication.
#never forget
as much as i know i will never forget 9/11, i also look back on it as such a wasted opportunity to unite this country. and as we sit here in 2018, the most divided we have been in 50 fucking years, i wonder if this divide would have happened if the right steps would have been made to unite this country on 9/12/2001. of course, the Republicans were in power then, as they are now. it's all about greed and war while they are in power. they are only conservatives when the left has the power. it's the joy of being a fucking hypocrite i suppose. but, they are rich, so they don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.
i saw Rolling Stone posted a story today from David Foster Wallace about 9/11 as seen from the Midwest. that made me immediately think about the poem i wrote about a week after 9/11.
that poem is in my book Sofisticated White Trash. feel free to buy it on Amazon.com. it was true back then and it is still true today.
https://www.amazon.com/Sofisticated-White-Trash-J-J-Campbell/dp/0981660681
it was actually nice enough that i was able to get outside today and take down the bird feeders by the windows and clean up the fucking weeds and vines a bit. the new windows will start going in on Thursday.
the New York Yankees erupted last night in the 7th inning and defeated the Twins, 7-2. hopefully, they can win again tonight.
i was in and out of Monday Night Raw last night. i really don't think i missed much. it's obvious they were trying to set up Hell in a Cell this weekend without doing too much.
i know the muse and my mother were very happy last night when the New York Jets won. i watched some of that and some of the Rams victory over the Raiders.
the finale of Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story was very powerful last night. i love how it showed how all these racists came out of hiding when Trump started running for President. it's not a coincidence. they are proud to have a racist running this country, just like how they thought it was always meant to be. to them, it's sort of like the south finally won the war. the irony being, it was a stupid as fuck asshole from New York that did it for them. i also liked how they clearly showed the confederate flag is racist as it was declared by the asshole that created it. i know, fucking logic. it doesn't work with the ignorant.

i have to take mom to a doctor's appointment tomorrow. this is with the doctor that fucked up her disability claim, so it should be very interesting.
i will probably be on here after we get home from the doctor's appointment and a late lunch.
i have trash to go pick up and i really need to shave and shower after working outside today.
that's all for me kids.

without knowing it, another suicide averted...
apparently, the muse actually reads this blog from time to time. i found that out in our 2 1/2 hour conversation last night. she told me that i make her sound like this horrible person in these posts. i don't think i do, but, allow me to set the record straight. the muse is the most amazing woman i know. she is my best friend. she is the love of my life. she is strong, sexy, confident, intelligent as fuck, weird in a incredibly sexy way and last of all, a bad ass that i have been lucky enough to share so many tender moments with... even if we don't have this amazing, magical relationship that i have dreamt about for years now, we will be friends until the day i die. and i don't tell her this, but it's true. each time we have a long talk and we share things and i get closer, it's another day where killing myself gets shuffled down the list of things to do. she has had so many different life experiences than me, listening to her gives me so many things to write about... having her in my life at all is a fucking gift. last night was a perfect example. after our conversation, i got this thought in my head for a poem. about 2 hours later, i had the whole thing mapped out and was writing it down. i really like it. the muse finally read the poem i sent her the other day. she thought is was just an apology. when she read it again, she realized it was a poem. she did give me permission to get it published, so that will go out one of these days. and then once it gets published, it might become my next SoundCloud recording. so, to the muse, you beautiful soul, i love you and i always will. i just hope one day you decide i am worthy of your love.
the New Orleans Saints lost yesterday at home to Tampa Bay, 48-40. the defense was just god fucking awful. i really thought this was going to be the year the Saints actually started the season with a win. oh well. they are at home next week against Cleveland. if they start this season 0-2, it might be time to blow it the fuck up.
the New York Yankees pissed away chance after chance yesterday and lost at Seattle, 3-2. they play again tonight in Minnesota.
Big Brother was pretty good last night.
the season finale of Power was excellent last night. and then that fucking ending. i can't wait for the next season.
The Deuce was great last night.
Ballers was good last night.
Insecure was fucking great last night.
Last Week Tonight was hilarious.
Shameless was excellent last night.
Kidding was fucking hilarious and weird, at the same time. it was pretty much what i was expecting.
America to Me was really good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and the series finale of Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
there's a doubleheader on Monday Night Football tonight. first game is the Jets vs. Lions and then the Raiders vs. Rams. i do hope the Jets win as that is mom and the muse's favorite team.
i got to sleep last night this morning. it was probably 5:45 when i got done with the last show of the night. i was up at 10 this morning.
our rain total from Friday afternoon to Sunday night was 11.7 inches.
that's all for me kids. i'm falling asleep trying to write this. time for a fucking nap.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i'm not sure if it will ever stop raining...
since yesterday, we've got another 3.1 inches of rain. that's 11.3 inches since it started raining on Friday. thankfully, when i went out to get the paper this morning, it was down to just drizzle.
i think my sister really liked her birthday gifts. or at least she fakes it well.
Ohio State beat the shit out of Rutgers yesterday, 52-3. honestly, i didn't really bother paying attention to the game after halftime. next week will be a much stiffer test for Ohio State. they will play TCU down in Texas on Saturday night.
the New York Yankees won last night in Seattle, 4-2. hopefully they will get the sweep this afternoon.
ROH was really good last night.

death is easier than change
my poem "death is easier than change" has been published at Duane's PoeTree. you can find the poem by going here: http://duanespoetree.blogspot.com/2018/09/jj-campbell-writes.html
exactly how i thought my Saturday in the rain would start...
we have had over 8 inches of rain in last 20 hours or so. you can imagine my misery. now, toss in 5 rejected poems as well.
i heard back from Mark at Ariel Chart on my poetry submission from last month. i have no problem with having the poems rejected, but the reason he gave made me laugh. he said he was rejecting the poems because of profanity. considering 3 of the poems had no profanity at all... thankfully, now i know of another place to never waste my time on again.
the New York Yankees won last night in Seattle, 4-0. they got some great pitching last night. hopefully, that will continue tonight.
the USMNT lost to Brazil last night, 2-0. considering the USMNT was without their best player, that's not that bad of a job from the kids against the #3 team in the world.
VICE was really good last night.
NJPW was pretty good last night.
the season finale of Random Acts of Flyness was weird as fuck and great last night. i can't wait for season 2.
Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be ROH.
Ohio State plays at home this afternoon against Rutgers. hopefully it's another easy victory.
i'm sure i'll probably watch some other college football games today as well.
happy birthday to my sister. she turns... i've learned a long time ago to not mention the age of a woman and i'd like to stay in that will as well.
she should be down here this afternoon. between mom and i, she's going to get plenty for her birthday.
that's all for me kids. i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.
