when school shootings become just another news story...

i didn't say much about the school shooting yesterday in Florida because i quite frankly am just fucking tired of these stories. i'll never understand the need for semi-automatic weapons at all. i'll never understand how any crazy person can legally buy a gun. i'll never understand why the government doesn't have the balls to stand up to the NRA. i've already seen the asshole that runs this nation blame the students and neighbors that didn't say anything. i bet that asshole didn't know that the FBI knew about the shooter 6 months ago. and i can't wait to see how Trump blames this on Obama, not remembering that it was his FBI 6 months ago. and as always, the answer this government will come up with is we need more guns. i guess it won't be until one of their precious children gets slaughtered before it dawns on them that sensible gun control isn't a bad thing after all. of course, i'm wondering how many people need to die before that happens?

the bigger problem in all of this in my eyes is the mental health issues that this country continues to just sweep under the rug. we'd rather spend millions on new missiles than treatment programs or even the basic mental health shit. imagine if you'd take just a fraction of what this country spends on wars and spent that on after school programs and decent mental health programs. of course, you can't make any money that way and that truly is where the problem begins. capitalism makes any of this shit impossible, because you have to make money at every fucking thing you do. and if an industry isn't turning a profit, then it's a failure. it's this flawed view of the world that has this country so fucked.

and now for the conspiracy point of view... i read a story just the other day that gun sales were down and that Remington is filing for bankruptcy. and what happens after school shootings??? renewed calls for gun control and then a hysteria plan of saying the government is coming for your guns. anyone else surprised the NRA would tweet out a call to buy your loved one a gun for Valentine's Day after the school shooting had already happened? you shouldn't be surprised. the beauty of capitalism to some is there are no morals allowed. and it is these assholes leading this fucking nation.

but what should i expect from a nation stupid enough to elect a reality television star to be their president. these clowns wanted fucking chaos. that's exactly what they are getting. and i guess sweeps week must be starting soon... Stormy Daniels claims she has a dress with Trump's sperm on it. the asshole poet inside me smiles. my soul learned long ago that none of this shit matters. we're all just running out the clock, waiting for death.

the Dayton Flyers were awful last night, losing at George Mason 85-67. there's two hours of my life i'll never get back. i'm tempted to go to the game Saturday night just to fucking boo.

NXT was pretty good last night.

Celebrity Big Brother was pretty good as well last night.

the New York Rangers play tonight at the Islanders. i saw this morning that the rumor is their captain gave the team his 10 team no trade list. that's enough smoke to me to mean the wheels are in motion to trade Ryan McDonagh. if that does happen, given his salary and age, the Rangers should get back quite the haul. if they don't, i will be pissed beyond belief.

i am getting more into the Winter Olympics. basically the hockey is going on now, so i actually have something i want to watch.

i didn't sleep worth a shit last night. i might have got 4 hours at most. between the rain, my arthritis and my bad back... i think the only thing that might have put me to sleep last night would have been heroin.

mom has her physical therapy session this afternoon. i'm hoping i can write some more poems while i'm there. if i do, i'll get those typed up this evening.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the grocery store.

ashes, love and then the fog rolls in...

my mother asked me what i was giving up for lent. i laughed and told her i quit giving a shit about organized religion when organized religion gave up on me.

i wrote 9 poems yesterday in the waiting room of mom's physical therapy. i typed them up last night, a little later than i wanted to. more on that later. i did like a few of them. i will probably have another writing session tomorrow and then it will be time for another round of submissions.

after physical therapy, we went out for a late lunch/early dinner. apparently, my body can't go 6 hours without food anymore. i had my usual for the place we were at. in hindsight, i should have had lunch at the house and just a few bites for the early dinner.

the one thing i liked about the house we now live in is there is a bathroom not that far away from the door going into the house from the garage. sadly, it wasn't close enough yesterday. thankfully, i like my pants cuffed so i didn't have to clean up any shit off of the carpet. but, there's a certain finality of just fucking kill me now when you're 42 years old and sitting on a toilet looking down at a pile of shit in your underwear and down your leg. i would ask how many fucking times i need to be humbled, but i know no one is fucking listening. my stomach was in knots all fucking night. i had to have some liquor just to settle it to get a few hours of sleep. as i told my mother this morning, either i'm starting to have the same stomach problems she has or my alcoholism is taking over the show. regardless, i am old enough to know this won't end pretty.

happy valentine's day

mom's appointment this morning went well. she's not crazy or losing her mind as she likes to think. all her tests pointed out that she's too stressed and moderately depressed as well. as i told her as we were leaving, it always comes back to her lack of self-confidence. i know a few of you just read that and laughed out loud thinking of my mental hangups.

i did go to the bank today and picked up a prescription at the grocery store. it was a gloomy drive around town. perfect for this fucking day.

the New York Rangers gave up 3 goals in the first 6 minutes or so last night at Minnesota. that was too big of a hole to climb out of as they lost 3-2. all the kids looked pretty good. it would be nice to see some veterans start to get traded from the team.

Smackdown was a clusterfuck last night.

205 Live was really good last night. i am liking the new direction of the show now.

Baskets was pretty funny last night.

Hate Thy Neighbor was about some crazy anti-abortion fucks. given my stance on god these days, you can imagine what i thought of the show.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Celebrity Big Brother. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at George Mason. since this team can't find a way to win on the road. i won't be hoping for a win tonight.

i got up this morning in time to watch team USA blow a 2-0 lead to Slovenia at the Winter Olympics in hockey. they lost 3-2 in overtime. i heard the names of so many failed New York Rangers players that i completely understood the loss.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow most likely. that way if i do end up doing some more writing in the waiting room tomorrow, i'll type those up in the afternoon. but, as we all know, plans are meant to be blown up in your fucking face.

that's all for me kids. i need to figure out what the fuck i'm having for dinner.

a blast from the past

i was on SoundCloud last night, just checking if i had any messages and my latest stats. i saw that one poem had been listened to recently. i checked on the stats and holy shit, it was listened to by the girlfriend i had when i was 27. i sent her a message saying thanks and she emailed me. i emailed her a couple years ago when there was a hurricane near where i thought she was living. i never got a reply, so i figured she had long forgot about me. turns out she stumbled upon that email a few days ago and took a trip down the rabbit hole and found my YouTube and SoundCloud pages. that was certainly not an email i was expecting at 1:30 in the morning. nice to know i am remembered though.

Monday Night Raw was very good last night. the 3 hours really seemed to move pretty fast. that's an excellent sign.

Celebrity Big Brother was crazy last night. Keshia begged to get evicted last night because she missed her daughter and her wish was granted. it will be interesting to see who goes next as the show is going to be over in 12 days i think. as of now, i'm rooting for Ross or Shannon to win it all.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Baskets and Hate Thy Neighbor. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Minnesota. they have had yet another injury to a defenseman. so, they had to call up another kid. i believe now 4 of their 6 men playing defense will be under the age of 24. that should be interesting tonight.

mom has physical therapy this afternoon. i'm hoping to do a little writing while i'm in the waiting room. i wonder what i could possibly be writing about today...

i figure she'll probably want to get something to eat after her therapy. so that might as well be an early dinner. then, i'll come home and get the trash done and probably start typing (if i happen to do some writing today).

she has another appointment tomorrow morning, so i'll probably be on here after that happens. good thing i made sure the gas tank was full for this week. mom has appointments the first 4 days of the week. and the day she doesn't, i'll be out doing the grocery shopping i suppose.

enough of my rambling. i need to get in the shower. enjoy the visual.

i have no interest in growing old

mom's mental health evaluation today was a fucking joke. the doctor truly had no interest in anything mom had to say. he was simply doing whatever it took to get the paperwork he has to do for Social Security done so he could get to the next person. i was in the room with her and i don't think i have ever seen someone so fucking impatient in my life. he cut off mom mid-answer about 85% of their talk. i told mom that it was painfully obvious that he must get paid by the number of tasks he gets done, not by the hour. and i could tell he was annoyed that mom's interview went for a full 30 minutes. if she gets her disability claim denied because of this fuck, i'm going to be really fucking pissed.

after that we went out to lunch and did a little shopping. the sun was out today, so i figured we might as well take advantage of somewhat decent weather.

the New York Rangers gave up 2 goals in the first minute yesterday. only 1 of them counted thankfully. the Rangers were able to tie the score against Winnipeg the final minute of the first period. after that, i thought the Rangers were actually the better team. they won the game 3-1. that's the first time Winnipeg has lost 2 games in a row at home all season. hell, i guess the Rangers should have said they were blowing up the team a month ago. maybe they would be on a longer winning streak. the Rangers play again tomorrow night at Minnesota.

i took a chance on Here and Now last night on HBO and i'm so happy i did. i can tell right away that i'm really going to fucking love this show.

Homeland was pretty good last night.

The Chi was excellent last night.

Crashing was hilarious last night.

Divorce was good last night.

Our Cartoon President was fucking hilarious last night. i wouldn't be surprised if Stephen Colbert doesn't get death threats from all the Trump supporters over this show. god i loved it.

Celebrity Big Brother was good last night. i have no damn clue who will be going home tonight.

i should have just stayed in bed

i could tell after watching a few minutes of the Manchester United game this morning that United was going to be in trouble. Newcastle had a plan and they were sticking to it. sure enough, United wasn't clinical when they had the few chances they got today and they gave up a fucking set piece at the wrong fucking time. Newcastle won 1-0. i truly hope this isn't what this fucking day is going to be like.

i read a review of Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars that said the documentary was dull. i'm guessing the reviewer isn't a fan of the music or perhaps just has a shitty life to begin with. i found the documentary to be very good and heartbreaking at the same time. i truly understand now why Eric was attracted to blues music at such a young age. and i think he may have given me one of the greatest lines i have ever heard. i couldn't bring myself to suicide because i wouldn't be able to have my next drink. that's fucking genius. i highly recommend checking this out if you love music or just love a tragic story that has an unexpected ending.

ROH was excellent last night.

the Dayton Flyers played a pretty good first half yesterday and got a long range buzzer beater to go in to have the lead at halftime against VCU. they took all that momentum and managed to piss it away to fall behind by 17 points in the second half. they managed to dig themselves out of that hole with a furious run to send the game to overtime. but, since Dayton's coach doesn't believe in playing the bench, the guys ran out of fucking gas. it doesn't help when your senior leader is a fucking turnover waiting to happen. and when the coach basically says after the game that the reason only 7 players played for Dayton was a coaching decision because he thought the players on the court were doing a good enough job... it just makes you want to bang your head against a brick wall. my new conspiracy theory is the coach knows he can't coach these players so he's trying to get them to transfer or leave the school so he can bring in players that he wants to think he can coach. even a decent fucking coach would try to make something out of what he has. but Anthony Grant knows the school doesn't have the balls to fire an alumni after just 1 season. VCU won yesterday 88-84 in OT.

we got some freezing rain last night. i nearly fell on the driveway this morning while going to get the paper. thankfully, i was able to get to the grass and get down there without falling.

USA Soccer elected a new president yesterday. i guess they decided that the status quo is good enough.

i think i have to take mom to have some testing done tomorrow for her disability claim. i believe that is in the morning. so, i'll probably be on here after that happens.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon up in Winnipeg. i'd love to see them build on their win against Calgary, but i'm not counting on it.

looks like a rainy weekend...

the rain started rolling in last night. thankfully, i had a few victory drinks to help me along the way.

it's pretty funny. i've been bitching and pleading for the New York Rangers to call up the kids all fucking season. now that the injuries have started piling up and the management is ready to blow it up, the kids are playing. and imagine that, the Rangers actually won last night. of course, their backup goalie got injured during the game, but that's par for the course now. the Rangers defeated Calgary 4-3 last night. i really thought the two kids on defense played really well for their first NHL game last night. hopefully that's a sign of things to come.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Real Time with Bill Maher was great last night.

High Maintenance was excellent last night. easily the best episode i think they have ever made.

Celebrity Big Brother was pretty good last night. i do love some chaos.

2 Dope Queens was fucking hilarious last night.

never fall asleep with Macy Gray's voice in your head

i was trying to get some writing done last night and i ended up spending 3 hours on one damn phrase that i seemingly couldn't build off of. a little sleep and sure enough, i wrote 5 damn poems this morning. i typed them up and think they are pretty good. those poems put me back on the pace i want for the month.

for some reason i got Macy Gray's version of "Creep" stuck in my damn head last night.

the grocery store was a fucking zoo today. between the elderly, the pissed off housewives and young males looking fucking lost, i think i was in the damn place for almost 2 hours. thank god i bought some liquor today.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty fucking funny last night.

Celebrity Big Brother was pretty good last night. i believe James will get evicted tonight. i think the show is live tonight, so that could get interesting.

i will probably be on here sometime in the afternoon tomorrow. i believe we're supposed to have some weather rolling in over the weekend. maybe some snow. maybe some ice. regardless, i know my arthritis will be fucking with me.

the beautiful nightmares

if you happened to catch Jason Kelce and his wonderful rant today at the Eagles Super Bowl victory parade, you basically saw (minus the outfit) how passionate i am about sports.

the New York Rangers lost to Boston last night 6-1. i laughed after the game and said at least they are sticking to the plan. today, i saw the team sent out a letter to the fans basically saying we're blowing it up and rebuilding. that started today with putting Brendan Smith on waivers and calling up Neal Pionk, a 22 year old defenseman from Hartford. it's about fucking time. now, hopefully the fucking coach plays him.

the Dayton Flyers played much better defense last night and had their best shooting effort in school history in the second half while beating Duquesne 88-73. that was a welcome change from the last two games. now, hopefully they can play that well at VCU on Saturday. i won't be holding my breath.

today was the NBA trade deadline. i was shocked at how many moves Cleveland made. i'm not sure what Sacramento is doing, other than shedding some salary for next season. it should make the rest of the NBA season rather interesting.

NXT was really good last night.

The X-Files was excellent last night.

Celebrity Big Brother was pretty good last night. i think it's a pretty good mix of celebrities. plus, it's only for 3 weeks, so at least i can't bitch about the show going on too long.

the muse walks right back in...

any longtime reader of this blog (my apologies) might remember that the last woman i fell in love with, i gave the moniker of 'the muse' to. yesterday was her birthday, so i decided to just send an email saying happy birthday, etc. etc. amazingly, and for the first time in probably 2 years, she responded to that email. that email exchange eventually evolved into a little chat last night via Google. and probably 10 minutes into that chat, she brought up some stupid shit i said in an argument we had over 2 years ago. i wonder how many times will i have to apologize for this? as you might imagine, i wrote 5 poems last night, most of which have the overall theme of never fall in love with a woman with a good memory. i typed the poems up this afternoon. they are good. those are my first poems of February. as for the muse, i doubt anything comes of our chat from yesterday. she likes to be way too secretive for my tastes. like if you tell me where you moved to i'm suddenly going to appear there. when the fuck do i travel? plus, she said she was dating, so hopefully that takes up most of her time. it would be even better if someone else stumbled into my life and became the new muse. that would solve a whole world of hurt.

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was really good last night. the match between Roderick Strong and Hideo Itami was way better than i thought it was going to be.

Baskets was hilarious last night.

Hate Thy Neighbor was excellent last night. i do enjoy a show that points out while the children might be fuck ups, let's also look at their parents.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at home against Duquesne. i'm not going to the game.

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Boston. considering how hot the Bruins have been, i doubt the Rangers have much of a chance.

we did get a few inches of snow overnight. the guy from across the street came over with his snowblower this morning and did the sidewalks and driveway. that saved mom some money. she's on the list with this local company to have her driveway and sidewalks done anytime there is more than 2 inches of snow. i would do it, but with my bad back and arthritis, that is a recipe for disaster.

i believe the Winter Olympics start late tonight. i'm not sure how much of the Winter Olympics i'm actually going to watch this year. with no NHL players playing hockey in the Olympics, i might just become a casual viewer if at all.

arthritis wins again

probably around 10 last night, my arthritis started raging. i tried drinking. i tried the massage chair. i tried watching porn. none of it helped at all. i think i tossed and turned all night long. the last 10 hours or so have been a fresh slice of hell. joy.

i did take mom to the doctor yesterday. the doctor believes her cough is from post nasal drip. so we had to go to the drugstore to pick up some over the counter shit that should take care of that. more concerning for me was my mother's blood pressure. it was way elevated yesterday. she told the doctor that she takes it every morning on her little wrist monitor. the doctor told my mother those aren't accurate. so, that was another thing we had to get yesterday at the drugstore. and judging from what the new monitor said the first two times mom used it, i think when she goes back to the doctor in a month, they will be changing her blood pressure medication. good times.

i saw an interesting news piece on Vice News Tonight last night. it was about this black woman from America that has started a retreat for black women in Costa Rica. she made the comment that she believes white people, especially from America, shouldn't have passports as white people have already done enough damage to the world. i laughed and told my mother it's just my luck. i have wanted to live in Costa Rica for the last few years. my luck, i'd find this amazing black woman that i would want to spend the rest of my life with there, but she believes i'm an evil person and wants nothing to do with me because of the color of my skin. it's like my life in high school all over again.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i do love how they are getting Elias over and i do love a pissed off Seth Rollins.

the New York Rangers lost last night 2-1 at Dallas. i am shocked at how bad the defense on this team truly is. if The King wouldn't have been sharp last night, they would have lost by 5 or 6 goals. the best thing this team could do is trade as many people as possible, tank the season, miss the playoffs and hope you can luck into the top draft choice. and getting a new coach wouldn't hurt either.

i've been exchanging emails with the last woman i fell in love with today. it went way better than i expected it to. so, as you can imagine, i'll be doing some writing here soon.

the joy of watching Tom Brady look sad...

i enjoyed the Super Bowl last night, mostly because the Patriots lost. there was hardly any defense in the game at all, which made it pretty entertaining for the most part. i enjoyed some of the commercials but i thought most of them missed the mark. as for the halftime show, i've never been a huge Justin Timberlake fan.

i had to do all the cooking yesterday as mom has got worse with her cold. i have to take her to the doctor later this afternoon. i'm squeezing this blog in now, just in case.

i actually got more than 6 hours of sleep last night. i guess my body finally got tired.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Dallas. i am fully expecting them to lose again tonight. i saw a report today that they have asked Rick Nash for the teams he won't accept a trade to. so, i hope that means the trades are about to begin. they really need to change the dynamic on this team, that's for sure. they have pissed away The King's best years and have only 1 Stanley Cup appearance to show for it. that's not good enough.

we did get a little more snow overnight. i think it was mixed in with some ice as well. thankfully, i only have to take a few steps before i am in my front yard. that makes it much easier to go down to get the paper and mail.

that's all for me kids. i have no damn clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i get the feeling that i'll probably be running around getting shit for mom so she can beat this fucking cold she has.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. hopefully you made some money betting on the Super Bowl.

response from Synchronized Chaos

i heard back from Cristina at Synchronized Chaos on my poetry submission from this morning. my poems "all the fucking stars aligned", "god had the chance to love me", "someone lost in the war", "the underside of the world" and "baptized" have been accepted for publication. they will appear on March 1st.

i hear there's a football game today...

before i get into bitching and complaining, a little poetry news...

i sent out 13 poems this morning. 3 to Raw Dog Press and 5 each to Street Poet Review and Synchronized Chaos. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

the Dayton Flyers lost to UMass yesterday 86-82 in double overtime. Dayton had a chance to win in regulation, but the shot was just short. UMass got the benefit in the second overtime of a miracle shot that shouldn't have counted but since the A10 has a shitty television contract, none of the video feeds had the shot that showed the ball still in the player's hands when the clock was at zero. sadly, knowing Dayton, they would have still found a way to lose if the officials would have got the call right. last week the coach forgot to use a timeout. this week, the coach didn't bother to use any substitutions. from halftime to the first minute of the second overtime, the same 5 players played. this makes no fucking sense when UMass is basically down to a 2 man bench. i am stunned at the amount of basketball Anthony Grant seems to have forgotten. of course, he probably knows the school doesn't have the balls to admit their mistake and fire him after this season. this was one of those games that if this team was actually good, it would have left an awful taste in my mouth until the day i died.

the New York Rangers lost last night in Nashville 5-2. they lost two players to concussions on plays that somehow didn't result in penalties on Nashville. what truly pissed me off was the guy the Rangers just got off waivers is supposed to be an enforcer. so you would think he would have started a fight or looked to get some kind of revenge for his teammates. nope. instead the Rangers best young defenseman had to do it. of course, the enforcer last played for Nashville, how convenient. at least this team is now in last place in the division. let the trades start happening please.

i did watch a good portion of the NFL Honors last night. Drew Brees won for clutch player of the year and the New Orleans Saints had both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year.

Saturday Night Live was fucking hilarious last night. i have loved Natalie Portman since she was 13 years old.

Austin City Limits was very good last night.

ROH was excellent last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Divorce and Crashing.

i'll probably be watching the Super Bowl for most of the evening. i really don't give a shit who wins the game. at this point, i just hope the fucking commercials are good.

i know my mother wants to watch This Is Us after the game. she's obsessed with that show.

i think Jimmy Fallon is doing a live Tonight Show late tonight. i'll probably watch that.

we did get a little snow overnight. it's a wet and heavy snow. just enough to fuck with the satellite dish. i was able to get out and get the newspaper. so i have zero plans on going back outside today.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.
