Super Bowl Sunday

well, the day is finally here. most years, especially since i am a New Orleans Saints fan, i will watch the Super Bowl for the commercials. this year, it will be a little different. having lived in Ohio for all of my 46 years of life, this will be my 3rd time watching a team from Ohio compete in the Super Bowl. and i know all 3 times the team was the Bengals, a point i like to point out just to piss off all the Browns fans in my family. i do hope the Bengals win today. i won't be shocked if they don't, after all, they are the Bengals. all in all, i'm just hoping for a good game, good commercials and a good halftime show.

we're all covered when it comes to food today. nachos for lunch and ribs for dinner.

the USA men's hockey team won this morning over Germany, 3-2. that gives them first place in their group and a bye to the quarterfinals.

the Dayton Flyers won yesterday against George Washington, 80-54. honestly, the game never really felt close. Dayton plays tomorrow night at Rhode Island. considering they are 1 game out of first place for the A10, it is a MUST win game.

i did watch a ton of college basketball yesterday.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Celebrity Big Brother, Power Book IV: Force, Billions, Euphoria, The Righteous Gemstones and Somebody Somewhere.

i'm sure i'll watch some other sports today before the Super Bowl comes on.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after the USA women's hockey team plays Finland in the Olympic semifinals in the morning.

until then kids...

a ton of snow and now the deep freeze...

i believe the wind chill today has been somewhere around 0 for most of the day. i haven't bothered to go outside yet. i figure when i take the trash out, i'll check for the mail. the people that mom pays to do our driveway and sidewalks must have been here before i woke up at 7:30 this morning. i'm sure they had fun judging by the piles of snow lining the driveway. and, wouldn't you know it, the next round of shit i think starts tomorrow night. oh joy.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

The Investigation was excellent last night.

i listened to episode 330 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can find that by going here:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Rock and Kenan.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against the Devils. the Devils haven't played since the end of January, so i'm hoping the Rangers jump on them early and end their losing streak.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at Rhode Island. i'm hoping Dayton shows up tonight and actually competes. too many times this season they haven't, especially on the road.

i will be on here tomorrow after i get everything done. i have to go to the bank and deposit a check and get the grocery shopping done. and i would love to have that all done before the snow comes in the late afternoon. now, the problem is going to be every other motherfucker around here will be doing the same thing. so, i'm fully expecting a fucking zoo tomorrow. good times.

thanks to everyone that checked out my latest published poem:

that's all for me kids. i have trash to go pick up and i need to throw on a few more layers to go outside.

at least the day got better as it went along...

so, when i was last on here, it was right before Manchester United was going to play yesterday. thank fucking god i didn't watch the game. United lost to Crystal Palace 3-1. great. maybe this will be a wake up call to the club to sign some fucking people. or, maybe the owners want them to become an afterthought.

here are your highlights from the NHL last night:

here are your highlights from the NBA last night:

thankfully, the New York Yankees played great last night. they defeated Boston, 8-0. the winning streak is up to 10. the winning streak against Boston is up to 12. and the magic number to make the playoffs is down to 1. hopefully, the Yankees will get the sweep today.

ROH was pretty good last night.

Austin City Limits was the episode with Buddy Guy and August Greene that i deleted a few months ago.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Lovecraft Country, The Vow, the finale of Love Fraud, Our Cartoon President and Power Book II: Ghost.

i will probably watch some of the NFL today and maybe some of the NBA tonight.

i did watch some college football yesterday.

it almost felt kind of weird yesterday to not be knee deep in baseball cards for most of the day. that being said, i did send out 4 poems yesterday to The Rye Whiskey Review. when i hear back i will pass along the verdict.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday will be even better.

until tomorrow kids...

and then came the rain...

before i get into another rant about how the rain fucks with my entire being, i have some poetry news to get to...

i finally send out the poems i talked about last week. i sent out 22 poems earlier today. 3 each to Red Eft Review and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 each to Synchronized Chaos (already accepted) and Fourth & Sycamore; 6 poems to Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

i also wrote 12 poems today while mom was doing her physical therapy. i'll probably type those up sometime tonight.

the New York Rangers won last night over Toronto, 4-1. the story of the game was the Rangers backup goalie stopping 55 fucking shots on his 23rd birthday.

the Grammy Awards were pretty good last night. a little long, but pretty good.

True Detective was fucking great last night.

Crashing was pretty funny last night.

High Maintenance was great last night.

Shameless was excellent last night.

Black Monday was fucking hilarious last night.

SMILF was pretty good last night.

Total Bellas was good last night.

the snow stopped yesterday and eventually changed over to freezing rain. that became just rain this afternoon. we're supposed to get maybe 1 to 2 inches of rain tomorrow. oh joy.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Celebrity Big Brother. i'll watch Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays PSG in the Champions League.

i should have just stayed in bed

i could tell after watching a few minutes of the Manchester United game this morning that United was going to be in trouble. Newcastle had a plan and they were sticking to it. sure enough, United wasn't clinical when they had the few chances they got today and they gave up a fucking set piece at the wrong fucking time. Newcastle won 1-0. i truly hope this isn't what this fucking day is going to be like.

i read a review of Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars that said the documentary was dull. i'm guessing the reviewer isn't a fan of the music or perhaps just has a shitty life to begin with. i found the documentary to be very good and heartbreaking at the same time. i truly understand now why Eric was attracted to blues music at such a young age. and i think he may have given me one of the greatest lines i have ever heard. i couldn't bring myself to suicide because i wouldn't be able to have my next drink. that's fucking genius. i highly recommend checking this out if you love music or just love a tragic story that has an unexpected ending.

ROH was excellent last night.

the Dayton Flyers played a pretty good first half yesterday and got a long range buzzer beater to go in to have the lead at halftime against VCU. they took all that momentum and managed to piss it away to fall behind by 17 points in the second half. they managed to dig themselves out of that hole with a furious run to send the game to overtime. but, since Dayton's coach doesn't believe in playing the bench, the guys ran out of fucking gas. it doesn't help when your senior leader is a fucking turnover waiting to happen. and when the coach basically says after the game that the reason only 7 players played for Dayton was a coaching decision because he thought the players on the court were doing a good enough job... it just makes you want to bang your head against a brick wall. my new conspiracy theory is the coach knows he can't coach these players so he's trying to get them to transfer or leave the school so he can bring in players that he wants to think he can coach. even a decent fucking coach would try to make something out of what he has. but Anthony Grant knows the school doesn't have the balls to fire an alumni after just 1 season. VCU won yesterday 88-84 in OT.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Celebrity Big Brother, Our Cartoon President, Homeland, The Chi, Here and Now, Crashing and Divorce.

we got some freezing rain last night. i nearly fell on the driveway this morning while going to get the paper. thankfully, i was able to get to the grass and get down there without falling.

USA Soccer elected a new president yesterday. i guess they decided that the status quo is good enough.

i think i have to take mom to have some testing done tomorrow for her disability claim. i believe that is in the morning. so, i'll probably be on here after that happens.

the New York Rangers play this afternoon up in Winnipeg. i'd love to see them build on their win against Calgary, but i'm not counting on it.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday is even better.

at least the drugs are working a little bit

i woke up this morning after almost 6 hours of sleep, albeit those 6 hours weren't straight through. but i did feel somewhat refreshed. i suppose it could have been the mixing of the pain pills with beer.

last night, the New York Rangers whipped the fucking Islanders for the last time this season 4-1. i was very happy to see that The King is back on top of his game. and the Rangers have really figured out how to play this season. they play again on the 4th against Colorado.

sadly, Manchester United fell back into their shitty ways this morning, losing to Stoke 2-1. two more injuries, a very curious substitution by David Moyes, a wasted effort from the big 3 (RVP, Rooney, Mata), and ultimately, just not enough to get anything today. they are now in serious risk of not finishing in the top 4. and i have no fucking clue how they will convince the top players in the world to come there when there will be no Champions League next season.

thankfully, right after that the Dayton Flyers ended their losing streak by beating George Washington, 75-65. of course, GW was down 3 starters because of injury and illness, but i'll gladly take the win and victory beer.

here in a little bit, i'll be watching the team USA soccer friendly. hopefully it will be exciting. of course, i could use the sleep as well.

tonight, i imagine i will be watching the NFL awards. i think the new episode of Girls airs tonight instead of tomorrow. also, Saturday Night Live is new and so is ROH. on top of all that, i'll probably be watching some comedy specials as well. busy night on my ass as usual.

i did get some really good news today. my poem "slice of utopia" has been selected to be in the 2013 Best Of anthology, Storm Cycle by Kind of a Hurricane Press. you can find that poem by going here: http://www.pyrokinection.com/2013/07/three-poems-by-jj-campbell.html

that's all for me. the weather is warming up, only to get really fucking cold again next week. back to my recliner and thinking of sleeping forever.

be well. hope you are in the middle of a great weekend. until tomorrow, well before the Super Bowl comes on.

a recipe for disaster

so i woke up this morning a little later than i normally do. it was raining. my back was killing me. and for some reason, my right wrist was (and still is) in pain. not sure if i slept on it wrong or i was masturbating in my sleep again. nevertheless, as i made it down the stairs, i knew the morning shit was going to become an adventure. and it was.

i sat down to watch the New York Rangers last night with a frozen dinner freshly out of the microwave and a glass of wine. much to my surprise, the Rangers played like the team i have been waiting to see for weeks now. aggressive, plenty of shots on net, blocking shots, cycling the puck down low, taking advantage of the opponents mistakes. a 2-0 win was a beauty. i realized after the game this is the 3rd straight game King Henrik has shut out Washington if you count the playoffs. here are the highlights:

Duck Dynasty reminded me last night why i don't want to have any children.

American Horror Story was creepy and beautiful at the same time. loved it.

tonight after The Big Bang Theory i will be watching the NFL game. i have the kicker for Seattle on both of my rosters this week. i want to get an early jump on the scoring. so, hopefully he has some long field goals tonight. other than that, i will probably be flipping between some hockey, maybe a little baseball, and who knows what else.

spent a portion of the afternoon on Noise Trade. found some music that i really liked from a group i have never heard of before. so, i urge you to go check out St. Paul & The Broken Bones. click on the link down in the music section to find their ep and download it for FREE.

that's all for today. hope this finds everyone well. if the weather clears up in the next few days, i'll try to get my lazy ass out and take some pictures of the colors on the trees out here on the farm.
