right before i was going to go to bed last night, i got the news that Toots Hibbert had died. that sadness took me on a deep dive of songs i hadn't listened to in years. the one thing i have always loved about reggae music is that it is so different from everything else i listen to. it is like a rush of fresh air. Toots and the Maytals was one of the groups i would go to, especially when i was younger. and given their influence on nearly every band in the world, this is going to be one of those deaths that leaves a hole that will never be filled. thanks for all the wonderful music. thanks for the shining light. rest in power. rest in peace.
the Yankees won both games of the doubleheader yesterday. 6-0 in game 1 and 10-1 in game 2. hopefully, that will start a run of victories going into the playoffs. the game today just started a little bit ago.
Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.
Room 104 was excellent last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was good last night.

i heard back from AG at Horror Sleaze Trash on my poetry submission from earlier today. my poems "sticky fingers" and "drowning sorrows" have been accepted for publication.
i heard back from Cristina at Synchronized Chaos on my poetry submission from earlier today. my poems "destined", "being used", "tragedies", "nothing to talk about" and "there is a better place than here" have been accepted for publication in the October issue of Synchronized Chaos.
it's rhetorical i know, but it seems this country is so fucking used to forgetting our history, 9/11, at least to me, is fading into that section of what we always do kind of shit. i can think of a few thousand people that would be greatly disappointed by this. of course, who really gives a fuck anymore?
the Yankees got rained out last night, so they are playing a doubleheader today against the Orioles. they are well on their way to winning the first game. the Yankees are up 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth. oh alcohol, my old friend...
Holey Moley was crazy last night.
NXT UK was really good last night. i can't wait for the new shows to start.
Big Brother went as i expected last night. Bayleigh was evicted and Dani is the new HOH.
here are your highlights from the NBA last night:

i did watch some of the NFL game last night. the Chiefs do look scary on offense once again. they beat the Texans, 34-20.
i sent out 29 poems this afternoon, 3 each to Red Eft Review, Terror House Magazine and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash, The Ramingo's Porch, Misfit Magazine and Synchronized Chaos. i will pass along the verdicts when i hear back from these places.

i had to take mom to her bank today to deposit a check. after that, we went to the drugstore to get some things. i picked up a box of football cards. got my first hit ever from one of those Fairfield boxes. it was a numbered card from around 2005 or so. worth just about as much as the box cost.
i was up until 5 this morning working on my baseball cards. i'm trying to get the albums better organized, so i know where shit is. plus, i am finding a good amount of cards i have missed over the last few months.
it has felt like it's going to rain all damn day. joy.
my sister should be down here tomorrow afternoon. i think she is spending the night.
i am going to try to be on here in the morning tomorrow. since Manchester United aren't playing, i'm going to try to be on here before the Premier League really gets going.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. Gerrit Cole just threw a 2 hit shutout for the Yankees, saving the bullpen for game 2 of the doubleheader. should be happy night now.

so, i got some good news at my doctor's appointment yesterday. my A1C is down (from 7.7 to 7.1); i have lost weight; blood pressure is looking good; my diabetic foot exam went fine; all in all, much better than the last few visits. i go back in December to have my physical, etc.
after that, i went to the grocery store. neither of them were that busy. of course, when i got done at the big store, i went to put the groceries in the back of the Highlander. i quickly realized what i had forgot from the day before. i forgot to take mom's walker out of the Highlander from our drive over to Indiana. so, the groceries had to go into the backseat. it never fails...
the Yankees actually won last night, 7-2 over Toronto. they start a HUGE series at home tonight against Baltimore. they really need to start stringing some victories together NOW.
Big Brother was good last night. i'm pretty sure Bayleigh will be evicted tonight. i'm hoping for fireworks.

the funnier thing to me is that it finally hit me that the woman i am madly in love with also has a birthday today. small fucking world.
and speaking of women i was madly in love with, the former muse contacted me today for the first time in years. honestly, it feels like a lifetime ago now. she wanted to know if i was still alive. i had the feeling she was hoping there wouldn't be a response.
the Yankees were winning last night against the Blue Jays, 6-2. i was feeling pretty good. and then the 6th inning happened. the Blue Jays scored 10 runs to take the lead and eventually win, 12-7. remember when the bullpen was the strongest part of this team? me neither. that feels like a decade ago now. i'm tempted to not even watch them tonight. fuck me.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

the drive over to Indiana went pretty smoothly. the 19 miles or so from where i live to the Indiana border are under construction. honestly, they should just rip up the whole fucking thing and do it over. bumpy as fuck. thankfully, we left early enough as the directions weren't the best, but we did find the place with plenty of time before her appointment. i guess she broke her tooth off below the gum line. so, they had to dig out the rest of it. i wrote 15 poems while she was having this done. i'll type those up sometime tonight. i would have done it this afternoon, but i was busy running around trying to get prescriptions filled and someone wanted a frozen coke. it took the pharmacy a little over a hour to get the pills ready. and of course, the frozen coke machine at Burger King wasn't working. so, i got some frozen blue something or other. thankfully, she's been sleeping for most of the afternoon. as long as she doesn't swallow the fucking gauze...

i know i should have more poems to type up soon as i will be stuck in the Highlander over in Indiana when mom is having her oral surgery done. so, i'm looking to get some poems out next weekend i imagine.
the Yankees lost again last night, 6-1 to Baltimore. when Gerrit Cole struck out 8 of the first 9 batters he faced, there would have been no way to convince me this would end up being another game in the loss column for him. the Yankees offense is fucking inept at the moment. they will try to split the series this afternoon.

i did fill up the Highlander today. i have to drive mom over to Indiana for her visit to the oral surgeon. i figured it would be best if i had a full tank when i did that. before i got the gas, i went to the drugstore to get some things. i tried my luck with the baseball cards again and sure enough, i got another hit in one of those boxes from Fairfield. a 2016 Topps Chrome Carl Edwards Jr. rookie card that is autographed. that's worth more than what i paid for the entire box. i also got some 2020 Donruss Optic that had some really good cards in it. all in all, i'm pleased. i also got the second portion of my order from Amazon.com, so i'm hoping i have enough sleeves to get all the cards done and i can start compiling my lists to start selling these damn things.
Smackdown and 205 Live last night were both really good.
Room 104 last night was fucking crazy.
the Yankees split the doubleheader yesterday against the Orioles. they won the first game, 6-5, in extra innings. they lost the second game, 6-3. that ended their 19 game winning streak against Baltimore. hopefully, they will win tonight, but with how they are playing, i'm not going to be shocked if they find another way to lose.

exhaustion got me around 3:30 this morning. i was up around 9. at least i actually felt like i got some sleep for a change.
the New York Yankees pissed away leads of 4-0 and 7-4 yesterday and lost to the Mets 9-7 in 10 innings. the Yankees are playing like shit currently. great. they play a doubleheader today in Baltimore. they really need to sweep this series if they want to have a chance to actually win the division.
NXT UK was pretty good last night. they should have new matches on in the next 2 weeks. joy.

my back has been really killing me the last few days. and when i get into these stages of constant pain, i tend to get a little irritable. not violent, not fuck the world mad, but a short enough fuse that i know the asshole inside of me wants to come out and play. that has been what i've been fighting for days now. amazingly, i was able to fight it off again today. and considering the zoo at the grocery store today, i'm a little shocked.
other than the beautiful black woman that asked me about the New Orleans Saints defense, most of the people at the grocery store were just in the fucking way. i'm very understanding with the elderly, considering i live with one. it's these fucking younger people, on their phones, with their earbuds in, basically, in some different world than the present, that are constantly just in the fucking way. and i swear, do any of these fucks understand anything about social distancing? last thing i want is someone breathing over my shoulder looking for canned peas. fuck me.
NXT last night was good. i really wish they would have crowned a new champion last night, but oh well. next Tuesday should be great.
Hard Knocks was excellent last night. i missed part of the show as a storm knocked out the satellite for a five minutes or so. i did enjoy the fact that the players completely understand that this moment in our country is too big to just sit out or say nothing.
Deadliest Catch was really good last night.

the Yankees beat Tampa last night, 5-3. Tampa got a little pissed that the Yankees did to them what they usually do to the Yankees; throw high and tight, back them off the plate, hit them if you have to. so when Chapman threw a 101 mph fastball at one of their heads last night, everyone got a little pissy. Tampa's manager basically said they have a whole pen of guys who throw 98 mph... so yeah, i am hoping for fireworks tonight. i doubt it will happen since the Yankees manager and Tampa's manager are both suspended for tonight. Chapman got 3 games. he is appealing the suspension. good times.

i was hoping to get to bed at a decent hour last night. i'm slowly realizing hope has no place in my life anymore. so, on 3 hours of sleep, i got up this morning around 8 and started my day.
i went to the bank to make a deposit. thankfully, the bank i normally go to is open again. after that, i went to get some baseball cards. the local drugstore is the only place where i live where i can find any cards. of course, what i was looking for they didn't have. so, i picked up some football cards and some baseball cards from Fairfield. these are usually hit or miss, but since i knew i was getting a discount on both of them, i decided fuck it. both boxes came up to under $10.
the football cards were ok for the most part, nothing really "holy shit" great. that came with the baseball cards. the box i bought actually had a hit in it. i found a 2016 Topps Chrome Autographed Blake Snell rookie card in it. that card usually goes for around $30. so, i think i made a nice little investment today. hopefully, i'll be able to sell that card soon and make a little profit.
