thank you John Prine

when my mother told me last night that John Prine had died, it was like getting punched in my dick. no matter how much i prepared my mind to the thought that this fucking virus would kill him, i never wanted to see it happen. i put on my 10 favorite John Prine songs last night and have basically had them on repeat since. and to get it down to just 10 was nearly fucking impossible. the one thing that listening to John Prine taught me was how to be a better storyteller. how to weave comedy and social commentary in the same stream of thought. thank you for everything. i hope you get to enjoy Paradise, you certainly have earned it.

so, basically i've been depressed most of today. yet, i had poems to send out. i made myself laugh when i told my mother trying to be creative when depressed is like fucking a corpse. enjoy the visual.

i sent out 22 poems today; 3 each to The Beatnik Cowboy and Red Eft Review; 5 each to Synchronized Chaos (already accepted for publication) and Horror Sleaze Trash; 6 poems to Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.

here is your video for this day of National Poetry Month:

WWE Backstage was pretty good last night.

Dark Side of the Ring and After Dark were both really good last night. i was shocked that Vince Russo actually apologized to Bart Gunn about the whole Brawl For All bullshit back in the day.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Masked Singer, AEW and NXT.

once i get this blog done, i think i'm going to take a nice long shower and see if some cold water gets me out of this funk.

a big thank you to everyone that has listened to my latest SoundCloud tracks. i really do appreciate it.

the weekend, finally...

before i get into the debacle last night, a little poetry news...

i heard back from Corey at Red Eft Review on my poetry submission from last night. one of the poems came really close, but this isn't horseshoes. he passed on all 3 i sent. oh well.

my father would have been 73 years old today. thank god he isn't.

the New York Yankees were due for a clunker and of course it just had to come up in Boston. the Red Sox took them behind the woodshed last night and beat the shit out of them. the final score was 19-3. that's the most runs Boston has ever scored on the Yankees. hopefully, i will never have to see that again in my lifetime. and hopefully, the Yankees fucking win tonight. even better, go trade for a fucking starter NOW!!!!!!!!

Holey Moley was fucking hilarious last night.

Big Brother went as i expected last night. Holly is the new HOH, so it will be back to regular programming in the house this week.

Baskets was really good last night.

Desus & Mero was excellent last night.

i did listen to episode 248 of Notsam Wrestling late last night. you can find that by going here:
http://notsam.com/wrestlingpodcast/2019/7/25/notsam-wrestling-248-monday-night-raw-episode-1-captive-audience

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and Shangri-La.

the grocery store was pretty fucking crowded today. all the prices were up it seemed. between both stores and my pills, i kept it under $200. at least we should have some options for dinner for the next week or so.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i'll probably get one done before the Yankees play in the afternoon, at least in theory.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

until tomorrow kids...
