i am so ready for 2020 to be over. i'm not sure if that's the pain talking or the naive fucker inside of me that thinks 2021 is going to be better.
so, just before the Dayton game last night, i saw that Chase Johnson was leaving the team for the second time in 2 years. i'm hoping he gets his health in order and shit, but it is a little funny that this has happened after the end of the first semester 2 years in a row. on top of that, two other players were injured and weren't going to be able to play against LaSalle. that meant that their new player from Finland, Mustapha Amzil, was not only going to be making his collegiate debut in the game, he was going to be starting. now, he was probably the only Dayton player i couldn't be mad at, mostly because he scored 22 points in the game and was the only fucking player on Dayton that looked like he cared. Dayton lost last night to a fucking horrible LaSalle team, 67-65. that was the first time LaSalle won at Dayton since 1999. the more i type about it, all the shit i felt last night keeps coming up. so yeah, they play against George Mason on Saturday at home. if they play like they did last night, they will lose again.
AEW last night was very emotional. they gave probably the best tribute show i have ever seen last night for the memory of Brodie Lee. i cried for nearly the whole damn show.
NXT was very good last night.
i did catch a little of the World Juniors last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
nothing on the DVR tonight. i watched NXT UK this afternoon on WWE Network. it was a look back on 2020 and was pretty good.
i will be watching the USA vs. Sweden game tonight at the World Juniors. if either team wins in regulation, they win the group. it would be massive for the USA to win tonight. that would give them the "easier" game in the quarterfinal.
i'm sure i'll probably watch the ball drop tonight and be thankful this fucking year is over.
and i'm sure i'll probably text a few friends around midnight, although i'll probably be the only one awake.
it's painfully obvious that age is getting to all of us.
i should be on here tomorrow pretty early. if not, it will be after Manchester United plays a huge game against Aston Villa.
until tomorrow kids... be safe tonight and enjoy every second of it.

it started raining today and i don't think it's supposed to stop until it is actually 2021. it's just enough rain to make my arthritis jump for joy. fuck me. i have been in pain all damn day, even when i was napping.
i did make it to the pharmacy today to pick up my pills. the store was fucking crowded as hell. thankfully, the line at the pharmacy wasn't long. on the drive home, i thought about the time i set myself on fire when i was 17 and why i stopped, dropped and rolled. i think i figured out in my 20's that i hadn't snuffed out the will to live just yet. part of me believes that the actual writing of the poems is my will to live now. so, i suppose i should look forward to my next case of writer's block.
the Dayton Flyers open their A10 season tonight at home against LaSalle. Dayton is favored by 12 to win the game. i'm really hoping it isn't that close. here is a podcast previewing the game tonight.
after i watch the Dayton game on ESPN+, i may check out some of the World Juniors tonight. i did watch a little college football this afternoon. plus, it is always nice to see Liverpool drop points, especially when Manchester United is in second place.
i'll probably be on here pretty early tomorrow. that is, of course, unless i have a flurry of poems hit me at the end of this fucking year.
they finally have picked up the recycling. just imagine if they actually did this shit on a schedule.
i need to go ice my bad back, so that's all for me kids.

so, i decided to get the grocery shopping done today. the first part of my trip was pretty easy. i went to Rite-Aid and found everything mom needed and i got myself some baseball cards. after that, i went to the local grocery store around the corner from Rite-Aid and found pretty much everything i needed from there. after i took all that home, i had to go make a deposit at the bank and then head to Kroger to get the rest of the groceries. well, the bank up near Kroger was closed for some fucking reason. so, i had to drive back to the bank i normally go to and sit for 20 minutes in the drive-thru lane. eventually, i got the deposit made and headed back to Kroger. by this time, mom had texted me to let me know her prescription was ready and she completely forgot to put all the shit on the list for New Year's (black eyed peas, sauerkraut, collard greens, pork). thankfully, i did find everything on the list at Kroger.
by the time i got home, i had missed most of the first period of the USA vs. Czech Republic at the World Juniors. thankfully, i did get to see most of the goals the USA scored today. they defeated the Czech Republic 7-0. they will next play Sweden on New Year's Eve.
Manchester United won today over Wolves, 1-0. it took them forever to score, but Marcus Rashford scored in the 93rd minute to give them all 3 points. that put them into second place in the Premier League.
Monday Night Raw was fucking crazy last night. i guess they are doing what the USA Network wanted. they asked for edgier programming. ending the show with another near murder i guess is what they asked for.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
nothing on the DVR tonight. so, i will probably be flipping between some college football, college basketball, the World Juniors and lord knows what else.
i will probably have to go back to the grocery store tomorrow to get my pills that weren't ready today. i should be on here when i get back home, hopefully before Dayton plays tomorrow night.
i am really fucking late on getting the trash picked up here and next door. and i need to make dinner as well.
i did get some decent baseball cards today. the best in the 2020 Topps Update pack was the Javier Baez short print and the Bo Bichette Turkey Red rookie card. as for the Fairfield box i got, easily the best card was the 1989 Donruss Randy Johnson rookie card.
that's all for me kids.

i heard back from Mike at Dumpster Fire Press on my recent poetry submission. my poems "without missing a beat", "burning through the horizon" and "running on empty" have been accepted for publication.
my poems "in a small town" (page 2), "like a household pet" (page 35), "an elephant stepping on a mouse" (page 75) and "every golden rule" (page 100) have been published in The Black Shamrock Magazine #2. you can read the poems by going here:
i'm not sure if it's just because i am getting older and closer to death, but it seems like every fucking year now, death just consumes me... and what really gets me is when people younger than i am die. to think as much as i have craved to die in my 44 years on this planet, to see some beautiful, talented people with so much to give go so fucking soon, it's numbing to say the least. it's these fucking cloudy days in the winter where i can do nothing but think about this shit. no wonder i want to move somewhere where the sun fucking shines most of the year.
The Masked Dancer was good last night.
Power Book II: Ghost was really good last night. i can't fucking wait to see what happens on the season finale next week.
Shameless was excellent last night. the look back at all the seasons really made me enjoy just how long this show has been on.
Your Honor was very good last night.
enjoy some music:

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening. i'll probably check out some of the NFL game tonight as well between Buffalo and New England.
i did listen to episode 323 of Notsam Wrestling today. you can listen to that by going here:
so, with the Saints already done for the week, i figured i would get some other shit done this Sunday. once mom finally got up (a little before noon), i went to Meijer to get some shit we had on the grocery list. i found just about everything i was looking for except for the Shout spray refill. i did pick up some pages for the baseball cards and a new binder to put them in. i also found some 2020 Leaf Draft cards there. i bought a box of those and i got some more 2020 Topps Update. between all the cards and pages, etc. i probably spent almost $60. i got some amazing cards in the 2020 Leaf box and some damn good cards in the 2020 Topps Update packs. i'm pretty sure i probably made back everything i spent plus some at what things are currently going for. that made me happy.
i did watch 1917 last night. i had wanted to see it since it came out and finally found the time. i'm really happy i did. as i told my sister, it's one of those movies that will stick with you for a long time.
ROH was pretty good last night.
the USA defeated Austria last night 11-0 at the World Juniors. that was a welcome sight after the loss to Russia. they next play the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be The Masked Dancer, Power Book II: Ghost, Shameless and Your Honor.
i did catch a little of the early games today when i got home from Meijer. i still can't believe the Jets beat the Browns.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:

my sister just left to go back home. she had one of her friends over here for dinner last night. first time i can ever remember having lasagna for Christmas. and amazingly, i liked the seafood lasagna better than the usual lasagna.
well, the New Orleans Saints got a little revenge on the Vikings yesterday and won 52-33. mostly, it was the Alvin Kamara show. he had 6 rushing touchdowns in the game, which ties a NFL record from 1929. the win clinches the division for the Saints. that's 4 years in a row they have won that.
Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.
Russia defeated the USA last night, 5-3 at the World Juniors. i'm really hoping the USA can bounce back tonight against Austria.
i did catch some of the NBA games yesterday. i'll probably watch some of that tonight as well.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be ROH and 1917.
so, i got up early this morning to watch Manchester United. i was able to watch it on my phone, that way i wouldn't bother anyone else in the house. United fucking blew two leads in the game and had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Leicester.
i figure the rest of the day is going to be spent flipping between the NFL, college football, college basketball and the World Juniors hockey tournament.
i did take advantage of a sale last night at Repacked Wax. i got $4 off of 10 packs of cards. i've had some great success with them so far, so i decided to take another swing. i know i need to go out next week and get some more pages and probably another binder for some cards.
i suppose i'll be on here in the morning tomorrow.
i hope everyone enjoys their Boxing Day.

it snowed a little last night and it was finally cold enough that it stuck. i really can't remember the last time we had snow on Christmas.
so, i finally found out why my sister didn't want to do Christmas this year. she gave a donation to charity that was larger than the amount of money i have to my name. i told i her i was never made aware of that and she said mom knew the reason. of course, mom can't remember yesterday let alone something told to her months ago. i'm assuming my sister needed a tax write off. i got some clothing for Christmas. of course, one thing was the wrong size, so mom has to return that. joy. i think my mother enjoyed what i got her, at least she pretended well enough.
the New Orleans Saints play this afternoon at home against the Vikings. if the Saints win, they finally clinch the division. i'd love for the Saints to get a little revenge today.
tonight, the USA takes on Russia at the World Juniors. i'm really hoping the USA wins tonight.

i'm sure i'll watch some NBA games today, like i do pretty much every Christmas.
and hopefully late tonight i'll be drinking some victory whiskey.
i hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas day.

i think it rained most of the night. i tossed and turned for most of it. it tried to snow today, but i don't think much stuck on the ground.
i did watch some NBA games last night. i was fucking stunned that Sacramento won in Denver, that's for sure.
NXT was excellent last night.
AEW was very good last night.
i managed to get all my 91 Fleer cards into pages last night. i only had a few pages of 91 Fleer before i got that box. now, i have close to a full binder of them. this afternoon, i managed to get those 91 Classic minor league cards together with all my other minor league cards. i do like that i feel like i am much better organized these days with my cards.

nothing on the DVR tonight. i watched NXT UK this afternoon. it was a look back on the best of for 2020.
i should be on here in the morning tomorrow. i have a little surprise for everyone and then i'll do a quick blog, you know with sweet wishes and all that bullshit.
i have no clue what my sister has planned for this evening. she mentioned something about decorating cookies and some other shit. looks like i might as well get drunk tonight.

Under the Grapefruit Tree: The CC Sabathia Story was very good last night.
i did catch some of the NBA games last night. i'll probably catch a little tonight as well.
the baseball cards i ordered did show up today. 3 boxes of cards for $40. i had no clue what was coming. i was a little disappointed with the 1988 Donruss, only because i have so fucking many. the 1991 Fleer box was a good one, mostly because i don't have much of that. the last box was of 1991 Classic minor league cards. i wasn't very happy with that until i started seeing minor league cards of Pedro Martinez, Chipper Jones, Jeff Kent, Jim Thome, Carlos Delgado, etc. etc. i definitely got my money's worth from these cards.

Manchester United won today over Everton, 2-0. they will now play Manchester City in the semi-finals of the League Cup. i think that's in a week or so. Cavani and Martial scored the goals for United. if they were more clinical today, they might have scored 7 or 8 goals.
i did watch a good portion of the USA vs. Finland last night in the World Juniors. the USA won 3-2. they will play Russia on Christmas night. that should be a wild one.

the final two episodes of Industry were really, really good last night. i'm totally invested into seeing what happens in season 2.
Monday Night Raw was average at best last night.

i might be on here later with a little poetry news. got an invite to send some poems in to this place and i think i have 5 that are good enough. at least i'm hoping so.
i should have some baseball cards coming tomorrow. more on that tomorrow night.
i will be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the League Cup quarter-finals.
i got mom some new candles today at the grocery store. i also got her another candle warmer so she can have one going in her room as well as the one she has going in the kitchen. she wasn't expecting the new warmer.

i have been in agony today with all this fucking rain around here. my arthritis is getting much worse, especially in my left knee. i'm 44 and feel like i'm in my late 70's. good times.
Manchester United took Leeds behind the woodshed yesterday and destroyed them. a 6-2 victory was music to my fucking ears. United are now 3rd in the league with a game in hand.
the New Orleans Saints lost yesterday to the Chiefs, 32-29. i said the Saints were going to have to play a perfect game to win and i was right. they started way too fucking slow, made one too many mistakes and came up short. they play the Vikings on Christmas day. hopefully, the losing streak ends right there.
WWE TLC was fucking great last night.
Power Book II: Ghost was really good last night.
Shameless was hilarious last night.

i did listen to episode 322 of Notsam Wrestling this morning. you can listen to that by going here:
so, Ohio State started yesterday like shit. it was pretty obvious they had a bit of rust to shake off. thankfully, they did that at halftime apparently. they went into halftime trailing Northwestern 10-6. the defense wouldn't allow Northwestern to score again on the day. and the offense turned to Trey Sermon. he ended up rushing for 331 yards yesterday. that broke Eddie George's record at Ohio State for most rushing yards in a game. it also set the record for most rushing yards in any conference championship game. Ohio State won 22-10. hopefully, they will be in the 4 team college playoff. that info comes out at noon today.
the Dayton Flyers started off really cold yesterday against Ole Miss. i think it had as much to do with the defense Ole Miss was playing as anything. thankfully, Dayton overcame a 7 point halftime deficit to win yesterday, 65-62. between Crutcher, Chatman and Watson, they had 55 of their 65 points. i'm really hoping Dayton develops some solid bench options before this season is over.
ROH was really good last night.
Saturday Night Live was hilarious last night.

Manchester United takes on Leeds here in a bit. this brings back some memories of hate from my youth. good times. hopefully, the boys find a way to win today.
the New Orleans Saints play today at home against the Chiefs. Drew Brees is back for the Saints. i honestly think they will have to play a near perfect game to beat the Chiefs.
the Obi Toppin card i ordered when got drafted by the Knicks came yesterday. it was numbered 1 of 1,019. i was thrilled when i saw that.

i'm sure i'll watch plenty of other college football games today as well.
