the grocery store was a fucking zoo this afternoon. and just my luck, my back was hurting and my blood sugar dropped while i was in the store. good times.
i guess the muse is spending her holiday weekend on the west coast and my sister will be on the east coast. it must be nice.
the New York Yankees lost last night to the Tigers, 8-7. they had the lead going into the 9th inning, but Betances spit the bit for the first time in a long time. of course, i'm not sure why he was pitching the 9th and Britton was pitching the 8th. oh well, they have no fucking chance to catch Boston now anyway. the Yankees did make a trade after the game, finally getting an outfielder. it should help. of course, should is a very fine line these days. hopefully the Yankees win tonight.
the New Orleans Saints won last night over the Rams, 28-0.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.
Big Brother went exactly as i thought it would last night. Faysal was evicted and Scottie won the Battle Back competition. late last night, Tyler won HOH.
Snowfall was fucking great last night.

i think i didn't sleep more than 3 hours or so last night. i tossed and turned most of the evening. i'm not sure why i was so damn restless. maybe i see the end, maybe there's a blind turn in the road, maybe tomorrow is something i'm dreading... i have no damn clue.
i did send out 5 poems last night to Reprehensible Digest. Art mentioned something on LinkedIn that he wanted more work. thank god i have been prolific for most of this year. he said that he should have enough now to have plenty of ammunition in the next few weeks. so, i believe that will be a good thing.
i didn't care for the Champions League draw Manchester United got. i don't see a way for them to get out of the group stage, sadly.
the New York Yankees lost last night to the White Sox, 4-1. that's the first time the White Sox have won a series in the Bronx since 2005. the Yankees start a series tonight at home against the Tigers. hopefully, they will win.
Big Brother was pretty good last night. i fully expect Faysal to be voted out tonight and i hope Scottie wins the Battle Back. i figure the producers want Bayleigh to win.
NXT was really good last night.
Lucha Underground was excellent last night.
Mr. Mercedes was great last night.

mom wanted to go out to Longhorn Steakhouse after her appointment with the eye doctor. i was fine with that as it is normally pretty empty around 2 in the afternoon. well, today the place must have got slammed right before we showed up. we probably sat for almost 15 minutes or so before anyone got our drink order. by that time, we already knew everything we wanted. our waitress was very apologetic and told us our appetizer would be free. after we got our check, mom asked me how much that appetizer would have cost. i said around $12 or so. our bill was under $30. she was thrilled. another lesson in patience boys and girls.
her eye appointment went pretty well. she should know in a few days when she'll be going in for a very quick surgery on her eyes. it's basically scar tissue behind both of the lenses they put in after her cataracts were taken out. the scar tissue has a crease or fold in it that is fucking with mom's vision. so the plan is to go in with a laser and zap it away. she needs it done in both eyes, so i guess i know what part of my September will be.
the New York Yankees were behind 4-0 last night. thank god the offense woke up in time. Andujar hit a 2 run homer. Hicks hit a 2 run homer to tie it. and Neil Walker hit a pinch hit home run to defeat the White Sox in the bottom of the 9th, 5-4. hopefully the Yankees can win tonight to win the series.
Smackdown was really good last night.
205 Live was good last night.
the season finale of Miz and Mrs. was hilarious last night.
The Jim Jefferies Show was fucking great last night.
the season finale of Deadliest Catch was really good last night.
Fuck That's Delicious was great last night.
Hard Knocks was pretty good last night.
The Shop was fucking great last night. i just wish the show was longer.

we've had some rain move into the area here in the last hour or so. so, as you might imagine, misery has come knocking at my door.
the humidity has been fucking unrelenting the last few days.
i'm toying with the thought of taking the tracks i've done on SoundCloud and turning them into something bigger. if you know of or if there are some musicians that would like to collaborate on such a project, shoot me an email and let me know. i'd love to do something that has some drums, guitars and horns in them, along with the poems. my pie in the sky dream is to make it good enough that i have the balls to actually put it out on Bandcamp and let the world buy it and judge it. i'm sure if i was better at computers, i could probably just find all the shit online and do it, but i really prefer to have human interaction with shit like this. call me crazy or fucking old, but that's just how it is.
i'll probably be on here tomorrow, sometime in the afternoon.

i've spent a good portion of today icing down my bad back. the shitty thing is i normally have lower back pain. this is more in the middle of my back. joy.
i did write 3 poems this afternoon. i typed them up and i think they are pretty good. that brings me to 27 poems for August. that's pretty good for a month i'm usually never productive in.
i had to take mom to the bank this morning. thankfully, we got that done before it got hot today. her bank is about 30 minutes away.
the New York Yankees had as many hits as errors last night. that's never a good recipe to win. they lost to the White Sox 6-2. hopefully, they will win tonight.
Manchester United played a good first half yesterday. sadly, they weren't clinical in the final third, so the score at halftime was 0-0. the second half was beyond fucking abysmal. Tottenham ripped them to shreds and won the game 3-0. i can't remember the last season United lost 2 of the first 3 games. i have a feeling it's not going to get any better anytime soon.
Monday Night Raw was interesting last night. i really enjoyed the Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins match. and i'm interested to see where they are going with KO quitting last night. i did enjoy Braun turning heel and beating up Roman Reigns last night. but, that was all that was interesting. just not enough for a show that is 3 hours long.
Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story focused on the trial last night. other than the opening statement from the prosecution, you could tell they had no damn clue what the fuck they were doing. of course, Florida is a fucking shit show when it comes to this type of shit. the longer i watched, the angrier i got.

the New York Yankees won last night, 5-3, to finish off the four game sweep of Baltimore. they are back at home tonight to play the White Sox. the Yankees are now 6 games out of first place in the division.
Big Brother was pretty good last night.
the finale of Sharp Objects was fucking great last night, especially the ending.
Ballers was good last night.
Insecure was very good last night.

and after just 4 hours of sleep, before i could even take the morning shit, my mother asked me to make biscuits and gravy for breakfast. last night was one of those nights where i was burning the candle at both ends. between flipping between baseball and football, watching Triplemania on the computer, and finally having it out with the scam artist from Italy... last night was one of those nights where i could feel the blood flowing like my youth. i'm sure i'm going to fucking pay for it today.
for the first time all season, the New York Yankees won both games of a doubleheader. they won the first game 10-3. they won the second game 5-1. they will go for the 4 game sweep of Baltimore tonight.
the New Orleans Saints started off slow last night, but came back to rout the Chargers 36-7.
Triplemania 26 last night was crazy. it's probably the only AAA event i try to watch every year. it sucks that i can only watch it on the computer, but i get it for free, so i'm not going to complain too much. i haven't seen a Mexican death match in so long, i almost forgot just how fucking violent they really are. holy shit. last night truly was fucking crazy.
so, somewhere around the 4th hour of wrestling and 3 strong drinks in, the woman from Italy contacted me on Google Hangouts. amazingly, she once again started talking about phone problems and i just snapped. i told her about how i never wanted to believe she was trying to scam me, but when i have people from all around the world tell me about the same fucking scam, it's kind of hard to not believe it any longer. so after telling her to fuck off, i blocked her. those old poems will be more ironic than anything now.
i did watch that Drew Michael comedy special on HBO last night. not having an audience was a bold choice for it, but i think it worked. it was funny enough that it didn't just seem like a crazy person rambling for 50 minutes.
ROH was excellent last night.

i heard back from Bindweed Magazine on my poetry submission from May. they rejected all 6 poems i sent. not exactly how i was hoping to start off my Saturday morning. i read the poems again and know they are good. so, i definitely think they will go out with the first submissions of September.
the New York Yankees won 7-5 last night in 10 innings at Baltimore. hopefully they will win both games of the doubleheader today.

so i was in the grocery store today and saw this woman out of the corner of my eye. i looked back and holy fucking shit. this stunning, and i mean fucking stunning, dark skinned black woman wearing an Oakland Raiders shirt was walking in the store. i think i walked by her three different times, knowing damn well she was probably 3 or 4 lifetimes out of my league. i know one damn thing though, there will be poems. i saw her in the parking lot as i was taking my groceries to the Highlander. she was getting into a red car. of course she was.
i did well with the groceries. got a ton of shit, all for under $90. of course, not long after i got home, the pharmacy called to say my prescription was ready. so, i'm either going back later tonight or in the morning. lovely.
Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

i decided to take a shower last night as i knew it was going to be nearly impossible to take one this morning. i got the water at just the right temperature for my back. it felt so damn good. and then it just kept getting hotter. the more i would turn it down, it still felt hot. i finished the shower as fast as i could, but it got so damn hot that i nearly passed out. i had to sit down on the toilet and tell mom to get a fan going and some cold water for me. she said i looked like i was dying. i told her to stop dreaming. that was pure fucking misery. after about 15 minutes of cooling down and taking a shit, i started to feel better. if it ain't one thing, it's another. it never fucking fails.
the New York Yankees lost last night, 9-3 to the Marlins. if the Yankees want to know why they won't win the division this year, it's all the games they have lost to last place teams. speaking of that, the Yankees are off tonight and start a series tomorrow in Baltimore.
NXT was pretty good last night.
Lucha Underground was excellent last night.

mom's doctor's appointment went pretty good today. she met with the physician's assistant. she seemed way more interested than mom's usual doctor does. she answered all of mom's questions and recommended mom meet with the doctor in their building that does full evaluations for disabilities. that will be an 8 AM appointment sometime in September i do believe.
after that, we went to lunch at Rusty Bucket. that was good. after that, mom said she wanted to go to Best Buy and look at televisions. i think we found a 60 inch one at a good price. now, she just has to decide does she want it mounted? what kind of sound bar? does she want a new one in her room as well? and hopefully do that before the fucking sale is over. i got a new mouse and a little toy while i was there. i'm hoping the new mouse takes care of some of my frustrations while i'm on the computer and my arthritis is going nuts. it does feel much better in my hand. plus, it's a wireless one.
i'll be on here tomorrow after a trip to the grocery store.

it was a restless evening. i got in bed around 2. i don't think i fell asleep until around 4. i was up around 9. soon after waking up, my mom told me that my sister had texted her. a guy my sister and i went to school with died yesterday. i was walking outside when mom said that and it was like getting punched in the gut. there was an immediate rush of memories from oh so many years ago. plenty of parties and good times. i have no clue what killed him. it did make me think of my own mortality today. as much as i want to believe i'm just getting started, i know damn well the end is much closer than i want to believe.
i guess mom is getting different seats for the University of Dayton basketball games this season. we're going to be on the opposite side of the arena now. she'll only have to go down 2 rows to get to the seats. the reason she didn't go much the last couple of seasons is she didn't think she could walk down to the seats without falling. so, it will certainly feel different watching the games from the new seats. i think my stepfather's family had the old seats from the time the place was built.
the New York Yankees won last night in 12 innings over the Marlins, 2-1. of course, there just had to be another injury. Aroldis Chapman left after just 6 pitches last night. joy. hopefully, the Yankees can win tonight and manage to do so without any more fucking injuries.

when i went out and got the mail today, i saw a letter for my mom and feared what it was about. turns out, my fears were correct. my mother's disability claim got denied today. she's spent the afternoon talking to lawyers because these dumb fucks believe my mother should be able to work as a school nurse. i'm not sure how she can do that when i have to drive her everywhere and she doesn't have the necessary certificates to be a school nurse. what truly pisses me off in this ordeal is the doctor that said she could do this is the fucker who told mom when she went to the appointment to see him, what are you doing here? it's obvious from the x-rays and MRI, you have spinal stenosis. you're not faking anything. the other kicker is the one doctor she went to disputed his claims. so, the insurance company kicked it to our family doctor, who just happened to go to medical school with the asshole who said mom could work. our family doctor agreed with his classmate. that's why the claim was denied. my mother told me when i got home from the bank that she was so fucking angry she couldn't even cry. thankfully, mom did find an attorney that wants to look into this. at least i know where all my stress will be coming from for the next few weeks.
on the poetry front, i contacted Moran Press about the mini-chapbook of mine that was accepted back in February of 2017. i guess the poetry editor left and things have fallen behind, but they still very much want to do the project. so, hopefully this thing will see the light of day before i die.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i think maybe the company has figured out, if you want the fans to cheer for Roman Reigns, you need to keep him in The Shield. the upcoming program between them and Braun Strowman should be fascinating.
Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney was pretty good last night. they did show a few more things than when they originally aired it. i do love the early Beatles stories.

before i get to an absolutely insane Sunday, a little poetry news to pass on first.
i sent out 13 poems today, 3 to Yellow Mama and 5 each to Reprehensible Digest and Zombie Logic Review. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.
mom got fucking stung by a bee yesterday while in her room. she didn't realize she didn't have her window completely closed. so, i know how the bee got in the house. i had to go out and get some Benadryl for her. she got stung on the neck, close to the throat. good times.
Manchester United played like absolute garbage yesterday. they lost to Brighton 3-2. honestly, the game never felt that close.
the New York Yankees won yesterday 10-2 to sweep Toronto. of course, it wasn't all good news, as Didi Gregorius left the game with a badly bruised heel. i'd be shocked if he doesn't get put on the disabled list. the Yankees are off tonight and start a series with Marlins down in Florida tomorrow.
Big Brother was pretty good last night. the one side of the house continues to be fucking stupid.
Sharp Objects was fucking great last night. i can't wait for the series finale next week.
Ballers was hilarious last night.
Insecure was great last night.
Last Week Tonight was fucking brilliant as usual.
the season finale of The Affair was great. the show is coming back for a 5th and final season. it will be interesting to see where they go since it's obvious the final season will be about guilt.
Who is America? was fucking outrageous last night.
Our Cartoon President was very funny last night.
WWE SummerSlam last night was better than i was expecting. a heel turn i loved, some title changes i was cool with and one i wish someone else would have won the title, and just a really good show. my only complaint was the length. from the pre-show to the main event was 6 fucking hours.
