50 degrees in the winter and suddenly everyone is an asshole

so i had a long conversation with my good friend jack daniels last night. we spoke about the virtues of poetry and the beauty of long legs and how much should a hooker cost these days. after a few hours, i believe i either went to sleep or my body decided to tap out, one or the other.

when i woke up this morning, it was almost 10 AM. i was pretty sure my mother went to the store without me. much to my surprise, she was still in the house. i ate some breakfast, filled all the bird feeders and then we went to the store. she didn't tell me that she wanted to go to another store as well as the grocery store until i had already started driving. we found a few things at the first place. i got some cool coasters that were on clearance as well as a Boba Fett coffee mug that was on clearance. and then it was off to the grocery store.

it seemed like every asshole in the world was at the grocery store. bums, people just out of church, the assholes that were hungover from the night before, kids and even more kids, and the worst people of all, the people that come to the grocery store to eat on the free samples as their lunch. mom was surprised there was so many people and i told her it's 50 degrees in the winter, people are conditioned to want to get out of the house on these days. the more we walked around, the crankier i got. my ankles were killing me and i was pretty sure my asshole was bleeding. enjoy that visual kids.

got home, put the groceries away and decided i better eat lunch before i start my laundry. speaking of laundry, time for a folding break.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

i enjoyed Austin City Limits last night as well as ROH. even though i was drinking, i still remember both shows. a little lesson to the kids, don't drink to forget, drink AND remember. makes you a better writer.

on the DVR tonight will be Shameless, Billions and a special report on fighting ISIS by VICE on HBO.

i've been watching the NHL All-Star game while typing this. i have to say the 3 on 3 concept is working really well. i doubt i watch much of the NFL Pro Bowl tonight though. between doing laundry and other shit in my room, i've got plenty on my plate.

that's all for me kids. i hope your Sunday has been better than your Saturday. i did a little poem with the music titles today, enjoy.

a long, long day

so when i woke up at 7 this morning i had no idea that i wouldn't get a chance to write this blog post until sometime after 9 PM. i'm running on fumes at the moment.

i got up and got ready to go get my blood work done. just my luck, i got an intern. she couldn't find a vein to save her life and then she couldn't keep my blood flowing into the vial that well either. i'm pretty damn sure i'll have a nice bruise from all of that. good times.

before i get to the rest of this crazy day, i should recap last night first.

Undateable was spectacular last night. i love when the show is 60 minutes long, mostly because the cast is full of assholes that try to get the other cast members to fuck up. i was laughing my ass off for most of the episode.

NJPW was excellent. Treehouse Masters was really good as well.

and yes, the chili made the night full of laughs and gas. and it lasted into today as well. good times.

the Dayton Flyers played like shit today, although you wouldn't know by looking at the final score. they beat LaSalle 59-44. they of course were losing at times in the first half and went long stretches without scoring. i'm sure people around the country loved watching that. eventually LaSalle ran out of gas and Dayton did just enough to win. hopefully they enjoy the week off before they play at George Mason.

after the game, we went out to eat. i was starving, mostly because i didn't eat a big breakfast after getting my blood work done. we went to Fricker's and it was crowded. we got there just in time as it got even more crowded by the time we were leaving.

after eating, we headed to Menards. mom had shit to return and god knows we had to take advantage of the 11% rebate on everything. i did find a few things i could use. i'm trying to reorganize all my books, especially all of the small press things i have from over the last 20 years or so. plus, i can't turn down 2 really good ink pens for just 99 cents. besides, i also had a coupon for some more bird seed.

it was interesting driving home in the dark. especially on the back roads. that's always fun; drunk drivers and wild animals... what could go wrong?

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.

i am planning on going to the grocery store with mom tomorrow morning. after that, it will be writing and laundry. if i don't go to the store, everything will start a little sooner.

it was in the 50's today here. it felt really nice this evening. of course, it will probably snow in a few days. Ohio, if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes.

that's all for me kids. i'm off to go enjoy a couple victory drinks and settle in for the night.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. and hopefully you won't be reading this until that great Saturday is over.

rising from the winter doldrums

i was surprised while watching Manchester United today. i figured Derby County was going to take full advantage of United bring in "crisis" mode. instead, they decided to just sit back and let United get comfortable in the game. a stunning goal from Wayne Rooney 15 minutes in (ok, maybe he was offside) put United up 1-0. it wouldn't be a Manchester United game though without a defensive lapse of some kind. that came about 20 minutes later to even the match at 1-1. thankfully, United played their best half of the season in the second half with some great attacking and even better goals from Blind and Mata. i will take a 3-1 victory on the road in the FA Cup any day of the week, regardless of the opponent. United advances to the 5th round now.

i really enjoyed Baskets and Lip Sync Battle last night. i really just needed a good hour of mindless shit to laugh at.

WWE Smackdown was pretty damn good last night. i totally marked out when AJ Styles broke out the Styles Clash. Mauro Ranallo has made the show a fun watch. that's miles away from where it used to be.

i also listened to Sam Roberts Wrestling podcast. i highly recommend Sam's excellent interview with Charlotte.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Undateable, NJPW and Treehouse Masters.

i made some chili for dinner tonight. so, it should be a night of laughs and gas.

i'm getting my blood work done in the morning and the Dayton Flyers play LaSalle tomorrow afternoon, so i won't be back on here until tomorrow afternoon/early evening.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. call if you need bail money.

why i quit betting on sports

so i was sitting there watching the Dayton Flyers beat the living shit out of Saint Louis last night hoping that no one took my betting advice. i was stunned at how poorly Saint Louis played, especially since they were coming off of three games where they had averaged over 80 points a game. but, it also makes me think how great Dayton's defense was last night. before the game, the Saint Louis coach said that Dayton has the talent to reach the Final Four. hopefully that's one thing that asshole will be right about. Dayton destroyed Saint Louis last night 73-37.

we went to Waffle House after the game. there was this hot blonde that was there with i'm assuming was her husband and child. there's something about a woman with short hair and glasses that drives me wild. it was the usual visit right up until the blonde and others left. the child put some money in the jukebox. the song that started playing was "What's New Pussycat" by Tom Jones. i laughed and told my mother that's some of Tom's best work. she wanted to know who the fuck chose that one. i told her the kid must have got excited when saw the word pussy.

after i got home, i immediately turned on Lucha Underground. the first season was amazing and to be honest, season two started out on fire. a couple of title matches, with some great storytelling. thank god this is back in my life every Wednesday again.

after that, i watched NXT. another great episode. and after reading the spoilers from the taping they had last night, i'm going to be enjoying the NXT shows right through March.

it's always a pleasure to wake up to poems being accepted. that makes up for having well over 100 emails to go through since you decided you'd like to get more than 3 hours of sleep.

enjoy some music kids:

now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Lip Sync Battle, WWE Smackdown, Baskets and god knows what else. i think most of the shows are reruns.

i have made up some serious ground in fantasy hockey. going from last place to being 20 games over .500 in under a month is just short of a miracle. i'm in second place in my division, which is much better than i thought i would be at the All-Star break.

i will be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays Derby County in the 4th round of the FA Cup. hopefully i will be in a good mood.

and then the words started to flow

i was pacing in my room last night, trying to figure the next line of a poem. i sort of edit myself like this as i hate fucking around with a poem once i have written it down. once i got something that i liked, the words started to flow. in about 30 minutes i wrote 7 poems. i typed up all 7 this morning and i think they are pretty good. i'll probably be sending these out next month sometime.

Total Divas was pretty funny last night, mostly because i know so much of the backstage shit from when the show was shot. it's interesting to then see how it is spun for the cameras.

i think i might have got 6 hours of sleep last night. rare, rare indeed.

i met one of our neighbors today while i was out getting the trash cans. she was out getting the mail and her little dog Chipper ran over to me. she apologized and i told her don't worry about it. i laughed as the dog was trying to climb the pole to get to the bird feeders. but, since i don't look like someone who wants to have a conversation, my neighbor got her dog eventually and walked back across the street without saying anything else. i know i might look like an evil fuck, but i only play that on the internet.

looks like it's going to get into the 50's on the weekend. i guess winter is over.

i got some great FREE music today on NoiseTrade. i will include the link below in the music section. i highly recommend checking this one out.

wrestling Wednesday is finally back as tonight starts season 2 of Lucha Underground. of course, i really hope the DVR does its job correctly as i will be at the basketball game when it is on.

after watching that when i get back home, i'll hop on WWE Network and watch NXT.

the Dayton Flyers take on Saint Louis tonight at home. they are favored by 18 points. so, for all you guys that like to bet out there, take the points. i will be shocked if Dayton wins by that much.

i'm guessing that dinner will be at Waffle House again after the game. hopefully there won't be any weather to deal with tonight.i don't mind cold. i don't like driving in sleet or snow or a cold ass rain.

that's all for me kids. i need to go take a shower and start getting ready for the game. tonight is a sell out so we have to leave here a little earlier than normal so we can get a decent parking spot. good times.

the war with arthritis

these days where the sun doesn't exist, the days where it feels like it is raining inside your body, where each step or breath or thought comes with an amount of pain; these are the days where i'd love to curl up in bed with a needle or go grab a bottle of something strong and find the train tracks. if this is what i have to look forward to for the next 40 years or so, i promise i'll be checking out before i hit 50.

the New York Rangers rebounded nicely last night, though i did get pissed when they gave up a 2 goal lead in the 3rd period. thankfully, they responded quickly and took back control of the game. the Rangers beat Buffalo 6-3. that's a nice way to go into the All Star break.

The X-Files was very good last night. i have always enjoyed a show that is a bit of a mind fuck. plus, i love a good conspiracy theory every now and then.

Monday Night Raw was ok last night. i did enjoy the matches between Owens and Ziggler and Styles and Jericho. and the triple threat match they set up for the next pay per view has some potential to it, Ambrose vs. Reigns vs. Lesnar. i just wish the show was more wrestling and less nostalgia. when the 2 guys made to look great on the show are The Rock and HHH, it takes me back 15 years. that is the complete opposite of what the company should be doing.

enjoy some music kids:

now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Total Divas.

i did catch some of the Sacramento Kings game last night. glad to see the refs still stick it to the Kings any chance they get. leave it to the officials to ruin what should have been a great night for DeMarcus Cousins.

i've got a few lines swimming in my head that might turn into a poem sometime tonight. hopefully it happens after i take a shower and not during the shower. you'd be amazed at how many poems i have created while washing my balls or taking a shit. creativity is something i don't know how to turn off.

i will be on here earlier tomorrow. the Dayton Flyers are playing Saint Louis at UD Arena and mom and i will be there.

i hope this finds everyone enjoying a beverage that's too strong for an umbrella.

back to reality

yesterday was exhausting. when i eventually fell asleep, i was tossing and turning all night long. i doubt i got more than 3 or 4 good hours of sleep. not sure if it's the weather, the poems, nightmares, being lonely, or (fill in the blank here) that has me so restless. my sister joked that she slept 9 1/2 hours while she was here in one night. i looked at her and said if i ever sleep 9 hours, i'm pretty sure when you come to check on me, i'll be dead.

i heard back from Chiron Review on the poems i sent on my birthday. all 3 got rejected. those are 3 of my strongest, so either i think they are much better than other people do, or i have slipped into a rut. might be time to switch back to wine for the next few months.

the New York Rangers played like shit yesterday. i guess asking for 3 wins in a row is just too much to ask for. they better snap out of it quick as they play Buffalo tonight.

thankfully, the Dayton Flyers took care of business yesterday at Fordham. they never trailed in the game, even though they tried to make it close near the end. eventually, Dayton put the game away and actually beat the spread once again. Dayton won 64-50.

i enjoyed The X-Files last night. of course, i had to watch most of the show on the internet this morning as the football game took up much of what i recorded on the DVR. that's my mistake for not thinking the game was going to run long. it should be interesting to see what happens tonight.

Shameless was really good. Billions was good, but not as good as the pilot was. hopefully it bounces back next week.

the Royal Rumble was good. i was pissy for most of it though as my internet was cutting in and out throughout the show. i really enjoyed what i saw of Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose. and i truly marked out like a child when i saw AJ Styles come out. that's truly one of those things i NEVER thought i would see in a WWE ring. not sure what i think about HHH winning the Rumble and becoming the new champ. i will hold back my opinion to see what happens on the road to WrestleMania. if he manages to make a new star out someone by April, then it's all worth it. if this becomes him burying people again, then i'll be bitching and moaning for the rest of the year. of course, i know what HHH thinks of my opinion:

on the DVR tonight will be The X-Files. i will spend most of the night flipping between Monday Night Raw and the New York Rangers game vs. Buffalo.

plus, i think there is a basketball game tonight that is supposed to be good. (Spurs vs. Warriors)

i got half of the Super Bowl matchup correct. neither game really shocked me. i think Carolina will win the Super Bowl, though i wouldn't mind Denver winning if that means Peyton Manning retires.

i've been listening to the FREE Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band concert they put out today as a gift for having to cancel some shows because of the blizzard. i highly recommend you getting this. 3 hours of great music for FREE. it's only available for 48 hours by the way.

should i be concerned about the guns on the kitchen table?

my mother has all the guns my stepfather had on the kitchen table so my sister can take a picture of them all. thankfully, the shades on all the windows are shut tight. i could just imagine what all these fucks around here would say. i think my sister knows someone that's interested in them.

i didn't get much sleep last night. i think i'm sleeping in 3 hour intervals. that could possibly work if i was 20 years younger. sadly, i'm not.

i really enjoyed Saturday Night Live last night. i thought Ronda Rousey did much better than i thought she would.

ROH was really good last night. i can't remember the last time i saw a match won with a backslide. talk about taking me back to my youth.

the Whitney Cummings special on HBO last night was hilarious. i do love a female comic that is fucking filthy. there's a woman i could have a long conversation with.

today has clusterfuck written all over it. the New York Rangers play up in Ottawa at 3. the Dayton Flyers play at Fordham at 4. i believe the football games start today at 3. i am going with New England and Carolina to win. and then tonight, the Royal Rumble is on WWE Network. it's going to be a long ass day my friends.

hopefully i will be enjoying some victory beers while watching wrestling tonight.

response from Bad Acid Laboratories

i heard back from Bad Acid Laboratories on my poetry submission from earlier this month. my poem "in the middle of your chest" has been accepted for publication. it will be in either issue #2 or #3. when i find out which issue it is in, i'll pass along the info. you can check out Bad Acid by going here: https://badacidlaboratories.wordpress.com/

much to my amazement

so, my sister shocked the shit out of me yesterday. she gave me my gifts for my birthday. a funny card, a kick ass RUN DMC t-shirt and then a bag with some papers and magazines in it. i was like, ok. she then said we have a hotel room booked in Cleveland for when the Yankees will be up there. i nearly shit myself. so i guess we're going to do a little family weekend in July. i have never seen the Yankees play in person. i've been a fan since 1982. i think we're also going to try to hit up the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, some of the breweries and restaurants up there. now, the tricky part will be getting the baseball tickets. needless to say, my 40th birthday has turned out to be much better than i thought it was going to be.

after i watched the Manchester United debacle this morning (more on that later) mom, my sister and i went out shopping. we hit Menards and found a few things we needed. the birds will be happy, that's for sure. after that, lunch. we went to the place where our cousin works as a bartender. it was my sister's first time there. i think she liked it. she ate all the food, so i guess. after that, we hit a discount store to look for more shit. more or less this is what my sister does just about every weekend. of course, she told me shit has to be 60% off before she'll leave her condo.

i got a sign today that says a clean house is a sign of a wasted life. i proudly put that fucker up in my room.

last night, the New York Rangers continued their mastery over Carolina. with the 4-1 win, they have now won 19 of the last 20 against them. in bigger news, with the win they have now won 2 games in a row for the first time since before Thanksgiving. thank fucking god.
they play tomorrow at Ottawa. thankfully, they didn't get stuck in the storm.

after that, i watched Dateline with my sister. she loves these kind of shows. Treehouse Masters was really good last night. the English cottage looked great. NJPW was excellent as well.

so this morning i woke up and really thought Manchester United was going to play good today. silly me. for some reason (injuries i suppose) LVG went with a back 3, which always means a back 5 because they have to possess before they can move forward. when Southampton scored late to win the game 1-0 (most likely karma for the Liverpool win) i was fucking furious. this was as dreadful as United has played all fucking season. how LVG keeps his job now is beyond me. there are plenty of people, including ones on the bench, that could be doing a better job.

just another day in the life

so i woke up this morning to the absolute genius of Janne Karlsson. he sent me this via email from my blog yesterday:
it's always good to start the day with a fucking laugh. i told him if i ever get any fuck you money in my life, this blog and his artwork will become a book. perfect for every bathroom in the world.

i picked up some alcohol at the grocery store last night. i decided since i hadn't had any Jack Daniels in over a decade, it was time for that to end. plus, i needed some more Jagermeister. mom forgot the grocery list, so we went back to the store today to get what we didn't last night. thankfully, it wasn't too much.

mom did however forget to give me my birthday card and gifts yesterday. she felt a little guilty this morning and i, being the true asshole i am, allowed her to wallow in it. she gave me money for the alcohol i bought and gave me the card and gifts this afternoon. my sister is coming down tonight and all three of us are going to go out tomorrow. hopefully the weather cooperates.

my mother got me some clothes that i needed and a ton of gift cards, mostly iTunes and Amazon.com. plus, the t-shirts i ordered from Pro Wrestling Tees came in the mail today. yet another shitty job from the mail carrier with that one. we're going to have to look for a bigger mailbox here soon.

and it's not that i expected some fucking party or a big deal to be made of my 40th birthday. it's simply that i thought it would be acknowledged with more than just words and a dinner. trust me, i know i do a horrible job making my mother feel like she did a great job raising me. she feels guilty all the time about things. certain things she should. but, she didn't do nearly the bad job she thinks she did. of course, i am 40, single and living at home. not sure if that's more my fault or hers.

WWE Smackdown was pretty good last night. i am really looking forward to the Royal Rumble this weekend.

Baskets was totally fucking hilarious. the show is totally absurd and brilliant. i can see why some people will hate it. i'm just odd enough to love the fuck out of it.

Life in Pieces was good last night, as was Lip Sync Battle.

happy birthday to me

so i started my 40th year on this planet by taking a shit that clogged the toilet. i figured that might be a good sign. i was wrong. so it looks like year 40 is going to be much like the other 39.

i did send out 12 poems today; 3 each to Dead Snakes and Chiron Review. i sent 6 poems to The Stray Branch. when i hear back from these places, i will pass on the verdicts.

i then did my new YouTube video. the first version i published i deleted as i noticed i had a spelling mistake in it. i figured that happened when my mother came in my room and told me about my uncle vomiting all over the place next door and she was rushing over. this is where the asshole in me kicked in. i was going to make sure i got the video done before i did anything. mom called to tell me she forgot her phone just as i was finishing up the corrected version. good times.

the new webcam worked pretty good. i think the more i use it, the more i'm going to like it. and when i know i only spent $6 on it, i figure it will be a good investment.

NXT was really good last night. i was very happy to see Rich Swann and Johnny Gargano both on the show. the matches were very good as well.

i have to take mom to the grocery store. while we're there, i believe i will be going into the liquor store and buying myself a birthday gift.

i think we're also going to go out to eat before then. i wasn't sure if we were as i figured she was going to spend the rest of the day next door. frankly, i'm a little shocked she came back home. but that's another story for when i'm fucking hammered and pissed at the world.

i believe my sister might be coming down for the weekend. hopefully she doesn't bring any snow with her.

on the eve of something i guess

as you might notice, i've begun changing the blog. i have no clue what the final product will end up looking like, i just know i want it to look different. it's sort of the reason why i shave every once in awhile; i just need a fucking change. so, be patient, i'll still post everyday. just think of it like a construction site. but i won't be handing out speeding tickets.

i got my new webcam in the mail today. the postal carrier and i might have a talk here soon. he stuffed the box into the mailbox. and i know if i had problems pulling it out, the asshole that put it in there had problems as well. but, the camera works, so... looks like i might be doing a YouTube video on my 40th birthday tomorrow.

i heard back from Nerve Cowboy yesterday on my submission from last September. they decided to pass. well, at least i have 5 poems now ready to send somewhere else. i'll most likely be doing that tomorrow as well.

the New York Rangers won last night 3-2 in OT over Vancouver. i was happy with the win and even more happy that they had over 40 shots on goal. maybe the screams of SHOOT THE FUCKING PUCK from the living room were actually heard for a change.

when the Dayton Flyers were up by 31 last night, i figured they were going to win. but, seeing i've been a fan for my entire life and know what happens when they have big leads, i didn't turn the game off. as usual, Dayton tried to give the game away to St. Bonaventure, but the lead ended up being too big. Dayton won 85-79. they next play Sunday at Fordham.

Total Divas last night was pretty damn funny.
i think the only reason i watch this show is to laugh my ass off.

and now some of this and that:

i'll be watching NXT tonight on WWE Network. other than that, i'll probably just be flipping through the channels.

we did get some snow this morning, maybe an inch or so. i think it depends on the track of the next storm to see how much we get tomorrow night into Friday morning. it may be nothing or it could be close to a foot. good times.

i did listen to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today with Chris Hero. i highly recommend it.

not sure what is going to happen tomorrow. i'm really just going to treat it as just another day. i don't think we've done anything "special" for one of my birthdays in years, so i'm not expecting anything tomorrow.

i hope this finds everyone warm and a little drunk.

looks like snow for my birthday

as i am reluctantly realizing i'm getting old, i have been trying to do more stretching each day. mostly to try to keep my back from locking up. but, i have noticed in the last couple of days that my left hip is getting bad. it wouldn't surprise me that i just fall apart completely at 40. good times.

Monday Night Raw could have been so much better last night. i enjoyed the guys i normally enjoy, but god damn, Vince knows how to shit all over something. the ending was a true clusterfuck that amazingly, had a good ending. showing the Wyatt Family to be a group of monsters that can destroy anyone they want to is the right way to go. it sucks that it took this long for those dumb asses to figure this out. i have no clue who is going to win the Royal Rumble this Sunday. i like that.

i guess no one wants to be #1 in college basketball this season.

someone tell the Cleveland Cavaliers that getting your ass whipped on national television isn't how you get revenge on a team.

i didn't sleep that good last night. i don't think it was the cold, just the normal aches and pains that comes from arthritis. or at least that's what i am telling myself.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

the New York Rangers play at home tonight against Vancouver. hopefully, they will get a win.

at the same time, the Dayton Flyers are on the road at St. Bonaventure. hopefully they also get a win.

i could use the victory beers.

on the DVR tonight will be Total Divas.

i need to drive mom to the bank and get the trash picked up around here. they are saying we might get some snow the next few days. i always figured i would spend my 40th birthday shoveling something. i guess snow is better than shit.

i hope this finds everyone well and enjoying a beverage spiked with something strong.

old man winter

so when i went out to get the paper this morning, the sun was out. i put on a coat and immediately thought, i probably should have put on something other than pajama pants to do this. it wasn't too bad; 16 degrees, wind chill of -5, but i knew if i was out too long i would be fucked. at least i did put up my hood on my coat.

the New York Rangers proved once again yesterday that they just aren't a very good team at the moment. consistency is something they are lacking and it is becoming more frustrating with each game. they haven't won 2 games in a row since before Thanksgiving. they lost yesterday to Washington, 5-2. they play Vancouver tomorrow. thankfully, i will be watching basketball.

i got both NFL playoff games right yesterday. i am now 6-2 in the playoffs, not too bad.

Shameless was excellent last night. i will never complain when i get to see Emmy Rossum naked. plus, the ending was one of those classic holy shit moments.

i knew i was going to like Billions within the first 30 seconds. Paul Giamatti bound and gagged with a dominatrix putting her high heel in the middle chest. cigarette put out on his chest and then pissed on. yep, there's a show i know i'm going to like. especially when the ending of the first episode reveals who that dominatrix is. i can't wait to see how this season unravels.

i also watched some of the UFC last night. i really enjoyed the Cruz vs. Dillashaw fight. i thought Cruz won, just barely. so the split decision was understandable.

and now some of this and that:

all i'm planning on watching tonight is Monday Night Raw and probably some pro and college basketball.

i did pick up a Paul Thorn song today at NoiseTrade. i'll have the link for that below in the music section.

hard to believe i'll be 40 in 3 days. especially when i first thought about killing myself at age 8, failed at doing it at 17 and 23 and was totally convinced that i was going to die with the blood clots at 32. let alone hoping i was going to be part of the 27 club. i suppose if life really does begin at 40, maybe the worm will turn and things will start looking up for me. maybe.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. and hopefully you are warm wherever the fuck you are.

smash and grab

i woke up this morning, tired as hell, ready to watch Manchester United take on Liverpool. United started off good, but as usual for this season, they settled back into mediocrity. they were getting killed in the midfield. thankfully, it was 0-0 at half. United started the second half in the same funk and thankfully, David de Gea saved their ass with some brilliant saves. where the fuck would this team be without him? and then, out of nowhere, a header off the crossbar and holy shit, Wayne Rooney drills a volley home for his first goal at Liverpool in a fucking decade. talk about stealing a game you truly had no business winning. when it comes to beating Liverpool, i'll take that every fucking time. hopefully this is the game that saves the fucking season.

the New York Rangers got my Saturday off to a good start, winning in Philadelphia 3-2. of course, they had to win in the shootout to get the win. better than losing though. they play again today at Washington. god willing, they will end the Mom's trip with another win.

the NFL games yesterday were really good. i got the Patriots game wrong, which didn't shock me really. the night game between Arizona and Green Bay was a fucking instant classic. another Hail Mary from Aaron Rodgers and then Larry Fitzgerald took over in OT. that game was part of the reason i woke up tired as hell this morning.

Saturday Night Live was really funny and dirty last night. i enjoyed the show much more than i thought i was going to.

Austin City Limits was really good last night. Ryan Adams and Shakey Graves were the performers.

ROH was excellent last night. the main event was spectacular.

i went through my huge file folder of unpublished poems last night. there was poems in there from over a decade ago. i found a few that i think i might try to submit to places again, though i'm not sure about it. hell, i might just put a book together of rejected poems and see how all those poems work together. it was certainly a long two hours down memory lane.

i'm going with Carolina and Denver to win the NFL games today.

i will be flipping between football and hockey for most of the day.

on the DVR tonight will be Shameless and Billions on Showtime.

i hope everyone has a great Sunday, or at least better than your Saturday.
