just enough rain to make miserable seem like the only reality possible

when the dull pain starts in my back and just radiates throughout my body, i know i am going to be useless. i can ice my back, stretch as much as i can, do something physical and absolutely nothing will help. and people think i'm joking when i say i want a morphine drip for Christmas.

i have to admit, i turned the Dayton Flyers game off last night when they got down by 17. my stress level was through the roof. my blood was boiling. so, i turned on the pregame for the USMNT and ordered a pizza for dinner. then, i noticed on my phone that Dayton started to make a comeback. mom wanted me to flip back to the game. i said no. i won't be the reason why they lose. and thankfully, they didn't lose. they finished the game on a 24-4 run and defeated Nevada, 63-60. they will play Arizona tomorrow afternoon.

the USMNT defeated Jamaica 3-1 in extra time to advance to the finals of the Concacaf Nations League. they will play Mexico on Sunday.

the New York Rangers won last night at Boston, 5-2. they won all 3 games against Boston this season.

NJPW was really good last night.

here are your NBA highlights from last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown and Real Time with Bill Maher. i'll watch NXT Level Up sometime tonight on Peacock.

so, Kentucky fucked my brackets last night. i am basically now just watching the games, hoping for upsets or my bets to hit.

i will most likely be on here tomorrow before Dayton plays Arizona at 12:45.

of course, if i happen to sleep for some unforeseen reason, it could be after the game.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

what could have been

so, i got up this morning and got my ass in gear to watch the USA vs. Netherlands. i missed the first Netherlands goal as i was in the bathroom taking a shit. i was hoping it was a USA goal with all the commotion i was hearing, but sadly it was not. the second Netherlands goal came on the last kick of the first half. that was a punch to the dick. now, both goals were scored by former Manchester United players, so that stung doubly for me. the USA got one back to make it 2-1, but quickly had yet another defensive mistake and the Netherlands made it 3-1. that was the final score. i was not impressed with the original starting lineup nor the changes that the USA coach made. i honestly think if they want to get truly better and be a team with a chance to win the World Cup when they are co-hosting in 2026, they MUST hire a better coach. the Netherlands outplayed and outmanaged the USA by miles in this game. now, i will give the USMNT a little credit as they have at the very least, restored a little respect on the team. getting into the knockout stage of the tournament should be the bare minimum from now on. and for the love of Christ, find a fucking striker in the next 4 years.

in the other game at the World Cup today, Argentina defeated Australia, 2-1. Netherlands vs. Argentina in the quarterfinals should be an amazing game to watch.

the Dayton Flyers won today against SE Louisiana, 80-74.

after the game was over, i went to Rite Aid to get my pills. when i noticed there wasn't many cars in the parking lot, i thought well at least i might not have to wait in line. i pulled into the parking spot and saw on the door, pharmacy is closed today. oh, isn't that great. and i know they are closed tomorrow as well. so, i can't wait until Monday when i am completely out of the pills i need to go up there and see what the fuck is going on.

the New York Knicks lost today at home to Dallas, 121-100.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

the New York Rangers pissed away a lead last night and lost to Ottawa, 3-2 in OT. they play tonight at home against Chicago.

Smackdown and NXT Level Up last night were very good.

AEW Rampage was excellent last night.

Young Rock was pretty good last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live.

no update on getting a new tire yet. mom sent a strongly worded email to the dealership last night, mostly because we have been going to them for 20 fucking years now. so, i am sort of waiting to see if anything comes of it before i rush out and spend money somewhere else.

since the Saints play on Monday Night Football, i'm not sure who i will be watching tomorrow in the NFL.

tomorrow in the World Cup, France takes on Poland and England plays Senegal.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday night.

i might be on here early tomorrow or it might be after the World Cup games are over.

humans are a disease...

i went out shopping today and holy shit... i almost forgot how much i hate humanity around the fucking holidays. as i told my mother as i was standing in line at Kroger waiting to get my pills, the fact i haven't killed anyone will go down as one of the greatest mysteries of mankind. i have lost all my patience for ignorance and stupidity.

i got one of my orders from Small Business Saturday yesterday. some mystery baseball cards. i was hoping for something good. what i got was all 1988, 1989 and 1990 Donruss cards. the only thing that made it somewhat worthwhile was the Larry Walker rookie card that was in it all. so, i went to Meijer today to get some more pages for the cards. they had every fucking card out now stocked and no fucking pages. fuck me. they didn't even have the fucking coffee i was looking for. i did pick up some pages at Kroger, but they aren't as good or as nicely priced as the ones at Meijer. so yeah, between that and watching this old lady not know how to use a credit card and watching the cashier basically not help her until the 5th fucking try... what a fucking day.

Manchester United defeated Arsenal yesterday, 3-2. CR7 scored twice meaning he now has 801 goals for club and country. i'm very happy that in the 3 games Michael Carrick was the caretaker manager, the club never lost. now, i hope the new manager, who has a clear vision and knows what the fuck he wants and how to get it, can get the club playing together and with a clear purpose. i still want to believe that United can make the top 4 of the Premier League or even do some damage in the Champions League.

the New Orleans Saints lost last night to Dallas, 27-17. that's 5 losses in a row, a first under Sean Payton. i remember the Aints and bags over the fans heads, so all this is doing is bringing up shit from my youth.

Young Sheldon was good last night.

United States of Al was pretty good last night.

B Positive was pretty funny last night.

Cake was weird as usual last night.

one sprained ankle away from being nearly perfect...

outside of the parking fiasco at the Dayton Flyers game today (probably my own fault, i should have left earlier) i got into the arena about 15 minutes before the tip off. i was really hoping Dayton wasn't looking past UMass today, seeing that they play VCU on Tuesday. thankfully, Dayton wasn't looking ahead. and other than Obi Toppin spraining his ankle in the second half (he was in a walking boot afterwards, i'm hoping just for precautionary reasons), Dayton played about as solid as they could and have all season. they defeated UMass 88-60. and given that VCU lost today, Tuesday night could be the night Dayton drops the hammer on the A10.

i didn't get to see any of the Manchester United game this morning. i saw some highlights when i got home. they won 4-0 over Norwich. i think that was exactly what all of us was hoping for today.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

the weather has been fucking crazy so far. we're well over an inch of rain so far and the wind is blowing it fucking sideways most of the time. joy. and i know what you're thinking, here's where i'm going to bitch about my arthritis, blah blah blah.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Austin City Limits and ROH.

i'll probably watch both NFL playoff games today. the Vikings and 49ers are playing as i'm typing this. Baltimore and Tennessee play this evening.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Saint Louis. The King is back in goal tonight. hopefully, the Rangers will keep on winning.

i will be on here tomorrow in the morning. i know i need to have the blog done before noon as that is when NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool II starts.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

the Yankees finally got their man...

before i get to my excitement about the Yankees becoming The Evil Empire once again, i have a little news to pass on...

just saw the news that Lyn Lifshin has died at 77. i have been published with Lyn just about everywhere in the last 20 some years. she was always a kind soul when we would talk online. i'll raise a glass for you tonight. may you rest in peace.
http://dougholder.blogspot.com/2019/12/poet-lyn-lifshin-has-passed-at-77.html

the New York Yankees signed Gerrit Cole, the pitcher they have been after for 11 years, to a 9 year, $324 Million dollar contract. HOLY FUCK. the scary thing is, he's worth every fucking penny. and if he is the difference between them making the playoffs and winning the World Series, he will absolutely become a legend in New York.

the New York Rangers lost last night at the Kings, 3-1. the Rangers turned down way too many shots and they made Jonathan Quick look like his old self.

The Voice went exactly as i expected last night. it's the first time in 7 seasons that each coach has a singer in the finals.

the season finale of Total Divas was really good last night.

WWE Backstage was excellent last night.

The Masked Singer was very good last night. my guess was correct once again.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Masked Singer, NXT and AEW.

i wrote 9 poems today while mom was doing her physical therapy. i typed those up this afternoon when we got home from lunch at Bob Evans. i will definitely be doing another round of submissions, probably in the next few days.

i'm hoping to get up early tomorrow morning and get my blood work out of the way. i have to get that done for an appointment in January. mom mentioned something about wanting to get her hair done tomorrow. so, that means i'll be getting the mop cut off from my head as well.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the Europa League. with a win tomorrow, United would win the group.

that's all for me kids. until tomorrow...

the problem with burning a candle at both ends...

eventually, it's going to find the middle. i think that's where i'm at now. i got a whole 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night. joy.

Monday Night Raw was okay last night.

The Voice was good last night. i have no clue which 2 are going home tonight.

i did watch a good portion of that Vikings and Seahawks game last night.

the New York Rangers lost to Las Vegas last night, 4-1.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice, part 1 of the season finale of Total Divas and WWE Backstage.

i'll be at the Dayton Flyers game tonight at home against Houston Baptist. this is a game that Dayton should win by at least 30.

i'll be on here tomorrow after mom has physical therapy and Manchester United plays Tottenham. sadly, i'm pretty sure United will end up losing.

some of the Christmas gifts i ordered showed up yesterday. i'm really hoping mom's new walker shows up today. the guy delivering it of course showed up while we were at physical therapy yesterday.

welcome to the weekend...

these are the weekends where i love being a sports fan. college football, college basketball, NHL. NBA, NFL, everything a loner could ask for...

Trotwood won last night in Wapakoneta 33-21. that's a 7 seed beating a 2 seed on the road in the high school football playoffs.
https://dayton247now.com/sports/friday-football/trotwood-trips-up-wapakoneta

Smackdown was good last night, as was 205 Live. if the WWE are going to give me The Fiend vs. Daniel Bryan, i'll be happy for the rest of 2019.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

Room 104 was fucking excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW and ROH.

Ohio State plays at home today against Maryland. Chase Young, the best defensive player in all of college football, won't be playing today because of the antiquated NCAA rules. they shouldn't need him today.

the Dayton Flyers officially start their season today at home against Indiana State. the game is a sell out so i'll have to leave here early to get a decent parking spot. i'm really looking forward to this season for Dayton. they are fucking loaded.

i would love to watch LSU vs. Alabama today, but our local CBS station is still fucked up. i suppose that's what happens when you drag your feet on technology entering the 21st century.

i will probably be on here tomorrow in the morning, especially since Manchester United, the Rangers and the Saints all play around the same time tomorrow.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

surprise, surprise

so i was sitting at the Dayton Flyers game watching the players warm up. then, i looked a little closer and was like, holy shit, Kendall Pollard is actually in uniform today. this was welcomed news. Dayton has been shorthanded all damn season inside. there was a huge roar when KP made his debut in the first half. and i absolutely love that they whipped Winthrop 83-67, mostly because their head coach used to be an assistant at Xavier. Dayton plays again on Tuesday against a Division II school. hopefully that's a blowout.

the New York Rangers won this afternoon over Carolina 4-2. looks like i'll be enjoying some victory beers tonight.

sadly, my high school lost in the division 3 state finals this afternoon 30-0. still, it was farther than i expected Trotwood to go this season.

i was up early as shit this morning. Chelsea whipped Manchester City 3-1. and El Clasico ended up 1-1 between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

NJPW was excellent last night. i could watch Will Ospreay wrestle everyday for the rest of my life and never get bored.

the Fitz and The Tantrums concert/interview was good last night.

Vice News Tonight had another excellent week of reporting.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Keanu, Pete Holmes: Faces and Sounds, The Hateful Eight, Saturday Night Live and ROH.

i'm planning on being on here early tomorrow, before Manchester United takes on Everton. if not then, it would be after the New Orleans Saints play Detroit.

i'm always amazed at what he takes out of this blog and turns into art.

fast forward to summer

it hit 80 degrees here today. all we were missing was the humidity and today could have easily been mid August. not that i'm complaining. the house is open, the ceiling fan is on and i'm enjoying a victory beer. life can't be bad all the time, at least that's what they tell me.

for National Poetry Month, i give you:

the New York Yankees finally got a hit with a runner in scoring position today. felt like it was the first time all season. they got some great pitching, a few big hits and avoided the sweep by defeating Seattle today 4-3. they are off tomorrow and start up a series against Oakland on Tuesday.

i really enjoyed ROH last night. hell, i enjoyed it so much i watched it again this afternoon.

i thought Saturday Night Live was pretty good last night. a few of the taped skits had me howling with laughter.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of Vinyl, the season finale of Girls, House of Lies and Last Week Tonight.

if you are a fan of laughing and sexual innuendo, i highly recommend you check out the latest podcast from Sam Roberts' Show.
give it a listen by going here: http://notsam.com/srshow/2016/4/15/srshow-mary-jean-and-kenyon-phillips

i think i might have strained my Achilles today. not sure how the fuck i did it, but i was walking the kitchen and felt a good jolt of pain that nearly stopped me in my tracks. good times.

i believe my lazy ass needs to get some work done in the next week for National Poetry Month. i suppose i should actually do an audio recording and another YouTube video. so, if you happen to see either or both of those pop up in the next week, yours truly found some fucking inspiration.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday is even better.

and i continue to fail forward

i woke up to snow this morning. nothing more than just a dusting on the grass, but of course, panic was in the air. thankfully, my cough got much better today after i brought up something about the size of an eyeball. good times.

if you could have seen the look on the guy at Best Buy when he opened up our computer today. he just looked at us and asked if you guys have thought about buying a new computer. i love how something in 8 years can be fucking obsolete. we ended up getting a new Dell computer with a ton of memory and enough space to have the old hard drive put on the new computer. hopefully everything will still be there. i'm guessing they will have the new computer ready tomorrow sometime.

so after that $1,000 mom and i went to Menards. i promised her we would get out of there under $100. true to my word, i got everything i needed and she got something she wanted and it all came up to $66.

i thought we were going to the grocery store today but mom isn't up to it. she has her colonoscopy tomorrow so she's hungry and cranky as hell. good times. i'm the lucky one that gets to take her tomorrow.

the New York Rangers played much, much better last night. sadly, they lost 2-1 in a shootout to the fucking Islanders. they will hopefully get back to winning tonight when they play Colorado at home.

NXT was really good last night. American Horror Story was crazy as hell. plus, i loved the twist. You're The Worst was excellent last night. they have done an excellent job with the depression angle.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Wiz Live on NBC. i will be flipping between the hockey game and the football game as i have a few fantasy players going tonight between Green Bay and Detroit.

i sent some poems to Dead Snakes today. for some reason Stephen never got the poems i sent him back in September. hopefully i don't have problems like that with the new computer, although i'm pretty sure i will.

that's all for me today. i really need to get some sleep tonight as i have to have mom to her appointment 1 hour before she's supposed to be there. god willing, they will start the procedure early. i will bring along my little notebook... god knows what kind of poems i come up with tomorrow.

i hope everyone had a great day.

adventures at the post office

today was one of those days where i just marveled at the incompetence of certain human beings. how a package with my address ends up in a post office 40 miles away from me is apparently a mystery to everyone involved. if it did end up at the wrong post office, it's supposedly on a truck going back to another city to be rerouted to the correct address. this is the special kind of stupid. of course, i found at today at the post office i have my PO Box at, they don't actually look at the addresses. they simply scan everything as delivered and then sort them. how anything gets to the right address is simply a game of chance i guess. and these assholes wonder why everyone sends shit online now. so, now i have to check in the morning to see if the package has been re-scanned somewhere. what pisses me off more is this is one of my mother's Christmas presents. amazingly, one for my sister came today and last i checked, it hasn't even been shipped yet according to amazon.com. this is going to be a crazy fucking Christmas, i can already feel it coming on.

i did watch The Voice last night. i guess the horny housewives got their wish, they voted the last woman off of the show. i have a feeling Matt from Team Adam is going to win it all this year, unless Adam somehow fucks it up (like he has done before).

the Dayton Flyers play on the road tonight at the alma mater of my mother and sister. no tv for the game, so i will be going old school and listening to it on the radio. hopefully i will be drinking a victory beer later tonight.

also tonight i'm planning on watching Lucha Underground and American Horror Story.

saw this last night and laughed pretty good:

i heard from the muse last night. we hadn't talked for a few weeks. it sounded like she is doing well. she did express her worries for me with the upcoming move. i appreciated it, though i think my cage needs to be rattled a bit. and nothing will do that better than making me live around people again for the first time in 17 years. it truly will be a sink or swim type moment. thankfully, i haven't been afraid of death since i was a child.

that's all for me today. thanks again for letting me waste a few minutes of your time.

a dense fog that never ends

i woke up to a fog today that only got thicker as the morning went along. it wasn't until nearly 1 in the afternoon that i could see down to the end of the lane. you'd think i live in a Stephen King novel.

had a pretty good night fantasy football wise last night. somehow, made up a 44 point deficit to end up with a tie in my CBS Sports league. that was good enough to qualify me for the playoffs. my reward, i get to play the same team 2 weeks in a row. that team just happens to have Peyton Manning at QB. just my fucking luck. i made up a 10 point deficit to win the NFL.com match last night by 16 or so. i believe i have made the playoffs in that one as well but i have no clue who i will be playing in it.

the New York Rangers can't seem to manage to play 2 good games in a row this season. they started off good in the first period last night and then got manhandled the rest of the game. maybe the coach will soon realize that Cam Talbot is a backup for a reason.

i did catch a few glimpses at The Voice last night. if i had to rank the six by personal preference, it would go like this 1) Matthew 2) Cole 3) Jacquie 4) Will 5) Tessanne 6) James. i have no doubt they won't finish in that order. the elimination show this evening should be really interesting.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. of course, any time the show starts off with CM Punk i will be watching. they are setting things up pretty fast for the next PPV, which usually leads to mistakes. this won't be any different, sadly.

i shaved off the beard i had grown for November today. now, it's back to the long goatee.

that's all for me. i will be on here tomorrow, probably in the morning since Manchester United plays in the afternoon and i have a basketball game to go to in the evening as well.
