so, i have done my best as i have aged to be more optimistic. yesterday was an example why there will always be a part of me that knows such bullshit is a farce. Ohio State lost yesterday at home to Michigan, 13-10. Ryan Day has now lost 4 straight games to that team. that hasn't happened since the late 80's to early 90's. as i told my mother last night, he'd be lucky if his house wasn't burnt to the ground by this morning. while i do believe Ohio State will make the playoffs, i won't be shocked when they lose in the first round and everyone is fucking fired.
the New York Rangers tried their hardest to fucking lose yesterday but managed to end their losing streak, defeating Montreal at home, 4-3.
the USWNT and England played a 0-0 draw yesterday.
WWE Survivor Series War Games was really good yesterday.
AEW Collision and AEW Rampage was ok last night.

i got up pretty early this morning. i am always hyped up when this week comes around every year. the Ohio State vs. Michigan game always has meant something to me. for too much of my damn life, it has meant bitter losses. i am really hoping, and fuck it, expecting, this year to be different. i know if it isn't, Ryan Day will be job seeking and who knows what this team looks like next season. a win today puts Ohio State in the Big 10 championship game against Oregon.

Ohio State played like they didn't want to lose the game instead of going out there and imposing their will and win the fucking game. 3 years in a row now. how can you destroy every other team in the Big Ten but come up short against the only rival you have and in the biggest game of every fucking season? Ohio State lost 30-24.

so, today is the big game between Ohio State and that up north. Ohio State must win because they have lost the last two games in this rivalry and i don't think Ryan Day survives a third straight one. the school up north has to win if they don't want anyone with a brain to know that the last 2 victories were due to the cheating scandal. as usual, i will be rooting for Ohio State. if they win, i will be beyond happy for the rest of the day. if they lose, i will basically shut down and be pissed. at least until wrestling tonight.

i made sure i got up early this morning as i wanted to have this blog done before Ohio State plays today. so, getting to this with 90 minutes to go, i feel pretty happy. i am starting to get back in the routine of waking up, making mom's coffee, eating my breakfast so i can make her breakfast when she wakes up, etc.
i did get everything i wanted to yesterday at Kroger. it wasn't nearly as bad as i was expecting. i got home in time to watch the second half of the USA vs. England game yesterday.
USA and England played to a 0-0 draw yesterday. considering England scored 6 goals in their last game, i was really pleased that the USA kept a clean sheet. the USA now has to win against Iran on Tuesday to advance to the final 16. considering they are the 3rd youngest team in the World Cup, i think the USA should be pretty happy they have a good shot of advancing.
in the other matches at the World Cup, Netherlands and Ecuador played to a 1-1 draw yesterday. Australia defeated Tunisia 1-0 this morning. Poland defeated Saudi Arabia 2-0. later today, France plays Denmark and Argentina takes on Mexico.
Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both really good last night. i absolutely can't wait for Survivor Series tonight as both War Games matches look like they should be great.

so, yesterday was a bit crazy. first off, let me start with the bad news. the New Orleans Saints lost to the Eagles yesterday, 40-29. honestly, it never even felt that close. the Saints play at home on Thanksgiving night against Buffalo. oh joy.
now, some better news. the New York Rangers defeated the Buffalo Sabres last night, 5-4. the wining goal was scored with less than 1 second left in the game. good times.

so, i guess i'll start at where we left off yesterday...
Manchester United played like shit yesterday at Watford. i turned the game off when United went down 2-0. thank god i did as they lost the game 4-1. i got a news alert later in the day that the board at Manchester United had an emergency meeting in the afternoon to FINALLY sack Ole. they made it official this morning. Michael Carrick will be the manager for the next few games, at least until they hire an interim manager. i have no damn clue who that is going to be or who is going to get the job permanently. all i know is all the great managers are already taken or already said they aren't interested. so yeah, once again the whole fucking club is a circus. good times.
so, i got to see Ohio State's first possession yesterday. when they scored against Michigan State, i left to go to the Dayton game. by the time i got in the parking lot at UD Arena, Ohio State was up 21-0. they ended up winning the game, 56-7. that sets up a monster game next week against that school up north. i can't wait.
when the Dayton Flyers had an 8 point lead at halftime yesterday, i looked at the guy next to me and said i don't know what to do when we have a halftime lead. he laughed. little did we know, we were about to see yet another fucking loss. Dayton pissed away a 12 point second half lead and lost to Austin Peay, 87-81. i loved that Dayton played more aggressively defensively yesterday, but in the end, they don't know how to play 40 minutes of basketball yet. and they just went 1-3 against the "easy" part of their schedule. now, comes a tournament down in Orlando where i won't be surprised if Dayton comes back home 1-6. that would be their worst start to the season since i was in high school in a season where they only won 4 games total.
i had to get gas after the game and mom wanted me to get her some food. when i got home, i noticed that she had moved a bunch of shit around in the kitchen. i noticed the rocking chair, that was in the living room was now in the kitchen as well. i asked how she did that while using her walker and she just smiled. then i watched her try to walk around the kitchen and she was struggling. now comes the joy of having a quick temper. i got her walker and slammed it down in front of her and told her to fucking use it. it was in a voice that probably could be heard throughout the neighborhood. i love that she lets me go to these games, to get out of the house and do something with my life. but, i am not fucking interested in coming home and finding her dead on the floor because she thought she could walk around the house without assistance.

i never know why my mother makes appointments for the doctor in the morning. she's not a morning person and i don't sleep. it makes no damn sense. but, i got her to her doctor's appointment on time. her blood sugar is doing much better and her doctor (which is also my doctor) does a really good job of listening to my mother's questions and answering them as succinctly as possible. mom was hungry after the appointment, so i went to McDonald's for lunch. we got some food and took it home.
i've got a poem swimming in my head from this weekend that i haven't had the chance to write down yet. it's going to be a great one...
the New Orleans Saints defeated the Falcons yesterday, 24-9. the defense was fucking amazing (8 sacks) but i was really pleased with how Taysom Hill played at QB. if he can stop fumbling the damn ball and just manage the offense, this team is going to be great while Drew is out injured.
WWE Survivor Series was pretty good last night. the retirement ceremony for The Undertaker was a deep dive in nostalgia. oh, the memories...

we got maybe an inch of snow last night. the person that delivers the newspaper was kind enough to throw it up near the garage door. i didn't have to put on my boots to go get it this morning. and that also means i should be inside for the rest of the day.
Ohio State got out to a 21-0 lead yesterday against Penn State. and then, it looked like they either took the foot off the neck or simply forgot how to play defense against a running quarterback and hold on to the fucking ball. Penn State scored 17 straight points to make the game very interesting. but, like all good teams do, bend but never break. Ohio State won 28-17. now all focus turns to that shit school up north.
the New York Rangers got down 4-0 last night. after wrestling was over, i went to go check out the score to see how much they lost by. holy fuck, they came back to beat Montreal 6-5. that's the first the Rangers have won a game in the regular season coming back from being 4 goals down since 1991.
