3 hours i'll never get back...

i sat at the car dealership for 3 hours today. now, i did get 4 poems written and went through 3 sticks of gum. after all that and $444, the Highlander was back to good. they had to completely replace the thermostat. there is a 1,000 mile warranty on it. so, i figure it will hit the fan when 1,001 miles hits. i'm going to type up the poems later tonight. after those 3 hours, i then had to go grocery shopping for the third fucking day in a row. i hate grocery shopping on Fridays. i survived, found just about everything mom had on the list. made it home in time to eat lunch at 5 PM. and people wonder why i always have a big breakfast.

a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:

i actually got some sleep...

if you call getting over 5 hours of sleep a miracle, then that is what i had overnight. i'm not sure if it was pure exhaustion or depression or the extremely visual dreams about death that lulled me into a deep sleep. but, holy shit, i felt like i was actually refreshed when i woke up. personally, i'm going with death. it tends to have a calming effect on me anymore.

grocery shopping today went pretty well. there was this woman at Kroger that smelled fucking amazing. i didn't want to come off as the fucking creep, but i definitely passed her twice on purpose just to get to smell it again. i have no fucking clue what it was. it smelled like Hawaii and heaven i suppose. i got everything on the list and kept it under $200. and of course, when i got home, mom told me what she forgot. so, i guess i'll get that tomorrow. joy.

NXT was good last night.

Inside the NFL was pretty funny last night.

the season finale of Welcome to Wrexham was excellent last night.

Name That Tune was hilarious last night.

The Voice was excellent last night.

not the day i was hoping for...

so, i woke up this morning in pain, but i figured that would be the case. anytime the winter weather begins, my back decides it wants a fucking vacation. add on top of that the likelihood that i have COVID, and you can just imagine where my mind was drifting off to today. i guess mom is doing a little better but it is looking more likely, as of right now, that she will need home healthcare. it still looks like she will get discharged on Thursday.

i was hoping to do my laundry today, but i knew that wasn't going to happen with my back feeling like this.

The Voice was pretty good last night. i have no damn clue who is going to get eliminated tonight.

Monday Night Raw was good last night.

The Vow was pretty disturbing last night. the season finale is next week.

Avenue 5 was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

the Dayton Flyers play late tonight out in Las Vegas at UNLV. Dayton is now ranked #21 in the country and are 4 point favorites tonight.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

i know probably after the game i will get the trash out. hopefully, it won't be snowing when i do that.

it definitely is going to feel weird not going grocery shopping tomorrow. i'm hoping i will feel better than i do right now. i have been blessed with some crazy fucking gas in the last few hours. the kind where you sit on the toilet for hours and just listen to your stomach rumble. good times.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

a cloudy Monday...

so, the snow we got yesterday fucked up the satellite for most of the day. i was able to get the Sunday Ticket package on the television via the app, but that was well into the afternoon by the time i got that going. the Saints lost to the Titans yesterday, 23-21. two missed extra points, too many penalties, too many referee fuck ups, etc. etc. etc. that's two damn weeks in a row the Saints lost a game they should have won.

the New York Rangers defeated the Devils last night, 4-3 in a shootout. the shootout went 7 rounds. i was very happy the Rangers got both points. i am still fucking furious that P.K. Subban injured another fucking Rangers player. if the league won't punish him, hopefully someone makes sure he leaves the ice on a stretcher one of these days.

welcome to the weekend...

the way the grocery store was today, you would think Christmas is next week. holy fuck, can we get through fucking Thanksgiving first?

i did do a pretty good job of getting everything on the scroll and keeping it at least close to $100. as i told my mother when i got home, on some days, i feel like a fucking magician.

mom's eye appointment went well this morning. she should have her new glasses sometime after Thanksgiving.

the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them last night in Tampa, 9-3. thank god i didn't watch all of that.

Young Sheldon was good last night.

The Unicorn was pretty funny last night.

Perfect Harmony was fucking hilarious last night.

Will & Grace was excellent last night.

Mr Inbetween was great last night. the season finale is next week.

Desus & Mero was funny as hell last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, Real Time with Bill Maher, Room 104 and INXS: Live Baby Live. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i did watch some of the Browns vs. Steelers game last night. and yes, i did see the brawl at the end. i'm not surprised at all with the suspensions.

the USMNT plays a MUST WIN game tonight against Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League. i won't be shocked if the USA chokes tonight.

i believe my sister is coming down here tomorrow. i think she's going to the Dayton Flyers game with me tomorrow night.

i'll probably be on here tomorrow after i go to the bank in the morning.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

just a little bit of ice...

they said there was going to be an ice storm last night. this is what i woke up to:

i haven't even bothered to try to go out and get the morning paper or check for the mail yet. it's supposed to warm up a little this afternoon, so i will venture out then.

the finale of American Horror Story was excellent last night. a few twists and a few returns i wasn't expecting. i couldn't ask for more.

Total Divas was pretty good last night.

NXT was great last night. i can't wait for NXT Takeover: War Games II on Saturday.

205 Live was very good last night as well.

enjoy some music:

the New York Rangers play tonight at the Islanders. i'd love to see the Rangers find a way to get a victory tonight.

the USA men's national team plays a soccer friendly this afternoon against England. it's Wayne Rooney's farewell game for England, so i doubt the USA has a chance today.

i've got one more load to do for my laundry. i will hopefully have that in the dryer by the time the USA vs. England match starts.

considering the Dayton Flyers play tomorrow night, i will probably be on here early tomorrow. i'm hoping to get the grocery shopping done in the morning. all of that of course depends on the weather.

i hope the weather isn't as shitty in your neck of the woods.

i have my last load of laundry in the dryer. i actually decided to wash my sheets today. i think maybe some clean bedding will allow me to sleep for more than 45 minutes straight. at least that's the fucking hope.

i really want to thank everyone who took the time to listen to my interview with Marcia Epstein. i really do appreciate it. and thank you for all the feedback. feel free to share the interview with anyone and everyone.

the season finale of American Horror Story was excellent last night. just the right amount of blood and shock.

Drop the Mic was really good last night.

The Jim Jefferies Show was fucking fantastic last night.

i only really liked two performances on The Voice last night. thankfully, Adam took those 2 to the live shows.

Smackdown was great last night. the invasion from Raw was damn near perfect. Survivor Series on Sunday should be amazing.

205 Live was pretty good as well last night.

there's always something...

i wrote 5 poems last night and typed them up this afternoon. i think 2 of them are really fucking good. as for the other 3, who knows. i'm probably going to send some poems out on Thursday.

i was really pumped for Dayton's game at Alabama this afternoon. i hate watching college basketball games where the officials think the fans or the ones watching on television are there to see them. it drives me nuts. adding to that, Dayton couldn't make a free throw to save their fucking life at times today. thankfully, they came from behind to win the game 77-72. sadly, they had a major (or hopefully not) injury at the end of the game to Josh Cunningham. considering Dayton is already playing shorthanded, another loss on the front line will be devastating. they next play at home on Saturday against Saint Mary's, who happens to be ranked at 17 in the polls.

The Voice last night was really good. only a couple of the performances weren't great. here are a few i really enjoyed:

Gotham was spectacular last night. the show just keeps getting better.

the HBO documentary last night, Underfire: The Untold Story of Pfc. Tony Vaccaro was very interesting. i'm a big fan of anything that has to do with WWII. i highly recommend watching this if you get the chance.

Monday Night Raw was good last night, but it isn't that high of a bar to reach to get to good any longer. i do like that Survivor Series is shaping up to be a good one.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Voice, Scream Queens, Smackdown and David Blaine: Beyond Magic.

i might also watch some college basketball games tonight as well.

the New York Rangers play at Vancouver tonight. hopefully they get a victory.

at the same time, team USA will be playing a World Cup qualifying game in Costa Rica. the USA really needs a result in this game. a loss will put them really behind in qualifying. sadly, i don't like their chances tonight.

i had to do some running for mom today after the Dayton game. she forgot to mail a bill out, so i had to make a dash to the bank for her. plus, she had 4 prescriptions that needed to be picked up. apparently today was the day for computers to fuck up as i had to wait at both the bank and the grocery store. as i was waiting at the grocery store, i remembered i forgot to eat lunch today. good times.

all the trash is picked up and i'm ready to take a damn nap.

drink yourself to sleep

so, imagine my surprise yesterday when i completely forgot the New York Rangers were playing in the afternoon. i was watching Ohio State be completely disinterested in their game with Illinois and the score to the hockey game scrolled across the screen. oh fuck, i guess that's why i couldn't find a channel for the game at night. so, for the next 90 minutes or so, it was constant flipping back and forth.

Ohio State found a groove in the second half, mostly due to Ezekiel Elliott. plus, the defense yesterday was outstanding. although the score doesn't look sexy, a little better officiating and it would have. Ohio State won 28-3.

the New York Rangers won their 8th game in a row yesterday, beating Ottawa 2-1 in a shootout. both goals in regulation were scored in the first period, which i didn't see, so from the middle of the second period on it was a pretty tight game. a big two thumbs up to Chris Kreider for standing up for a teammate and completely rag-dolling a motherfucker after a hit to the head. of course, The King was up to his usual tricks. and by the end of the shootout, the sun had shined on a dog's ass once again. (hello to you Dan Boyle). the boys go for 9 in a row tonight at home against Toronto.

Saturday Night Live was very good last night. the opening was very classy and i thought the sketches were way fucking funnier than last week. ROH was excellent as well.

i couldn't get my back loose for anything yesterday. but, after a few victory drinks (that were mostly whiskey), my back was good enough that i could get some sleep.

the Marlon Brando documentary on Showtime last night, Listen To Me Marlon, was excellent. i highly recommend it.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

i'm slowly getting really pissed that it is becoming harder and harder to find the videos i want to include in this blog each day. if that happens to continue, either the number of videos will decrease or this blog will be on WordPress or Tumblr before too long.

on the DVR tonight will be Homeland, The Affair and Last Week Tonight.

the New Orleans Saints play at the Washington Redskins today. hopefully the Saints can get a win.

i'm hoping my fantasy football teams do good today. i do have some injury concerns, so that's always fun.

my fantasy hockey team looks like it's going to have yet another losing week. i'm just good enough to almost win each week. this is getting fucking frustrating.

i suppose i should go see if my mother is still alive. i haven't seen her at all this morning.

i have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. it's with an orthopedic doctor. i'm sure he'll be thrilled when i tell him about my bad ankle and bad back. on top of arthritis that is getting worse by the day.

i have no clue if i will blog before or after the appointment tomorrow. i suppose it depends on how this long ass day goes.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i do hope your Sunday is even better.

the hard freeze

i came down the stairs this morning and it was 16 degrees outside. before getting on the computer, i did the dishes. figured it was best to get some hot water going through these old pipes. that's definitely one of things i won't miss when we move from here.

now, back to where we left off...

the USA lost to Colombia yesterday 2-1. it was yet another game where they gave up a goal late. as much as i want them to be able to compete with the big boys of the soccer world, you have to be able to take advantage of your chances to do so. i would love to see how the complete team would do against Colombia, although i'm fooling myself into thinking it would be different.

i almost got hit 3 different times yesterday on my way to and from the bank. i just love elderly drivers.

mom did go to the basketball game with me last night. she was struggling but made it through. sadly, she's realized that her hearing is mostly gone in her left ear. that has heightened her sense of smell and just her luck, the guy next to her had mustard with his pretzel. i'm amazed she didn't puke on me. as for the game, Dayton won 76-52. they were lead in scoring by a freshman out of Detroit, Darrell Davis. that kid has the second coming of Brian Roberts (currently playing with the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA) written all over him. they next play down in Puerto Rico over Thanksgiving. highlights from the game are below:

we went to Waffle House after the game. mom believes her pills made her food taste like shit. i reminded her it was Waffle House. we got back home in time to watch Sonic Highways on HBO. another great episode.

today is yet another busy sports day. Ohio State plays at noon on the road in Minnesota. hopefully i'll be enjoying a victory beer this afternoon with the chili i made this morning. there are a few other college football games i'm looking forward to today. later tonight, the New York Rangers play in Pittsburgh.

also tonight, i do believe Saturday Night Live is new as is ROH. so, yet another late night.

mom is out driving, running errands right now. she felt good enough to try to drive alone again. i've waited by the phone, just in case. hopefully, everything goes well.

i need to get going. i have cats to feed and some other shit i'd like to get done before Ohio State comes on.

hope everyone has a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

frustration and poetry news

got my daily chores (getting the paper and mail from town) done early this morning so i could try and watch the Dayton Flyers via the internet this afternoon. let's just say i would have been better off forgetting they were playing today.

the feed was spotty at best but i hung with it because Dayton was winning. as soon as the game turned to shit, i gave up on my supposedly high speed internet feed and just turned on the radio. a loss by 10 points to Colorado is not that bad in the general sense. the game was much closer than that for most of it. the shitty part is you are now in the losers portion of the bracket and the teams you will face in that will be a drag on your strength of schedule and RPI later on in the season. all shit you need to be good to get into the NCAA tournament. needless to say, i'm not a happy camper.

so, the only way i know how to blow off some steam and not kill something, music and poetry. turned on some tunes and sent out some poems today to The Camel Saloon and Zygote in My Coffee. 2 of my favorites and 2 that i figure i have the best shot at some good news coming back. i'll pass along the (good) news as soon as i get it.

the rest of my day will be spent on dishes, google+, checking fantasy football injury reports, and getting ready for a Thursday of tv viewing.

i really wouldn't mind if the players i have going tonight in NFL action actually have great games so the stench of last weeks 3 losses can finally come off of me. fingers are crossed.
