 there was some rain early this morning. no wonder i woke up after 4 hours of sleep in pain. joy.

the New York Yankees won yesterday at home over Detroit, 5-2, in 8 innings. they are off tonight and start a series tomorrow night at home against the Astros.

the New York Rangers won yesterday at home against Carolina, 4-3. they are up 1-0 in the series. Game 2 will be tomorrow night at home.

 i have had a bad back for most of my adult life. so, i know the little tricks of how to cope with it. there are certain days though, where it doesn't fucking matter. today was one of those days. i couldn't get it loose or feeling good, but i knew that the grocery shopping had to get done. so, the joy of good pain tolerance is you just fucking power through shit and face the consequences down the line. if it means i die sooner than expected, i'm cool with that, given my current situation in life. of course, shit changes as well.

it feels like it should have started raining about 10 hours ago...

 today has been gloomy as fuck. i don't think the sun has even bothered to fucking show itself yet. it has felt like, especially in my bad back, that it has been raining all day long. i haven't watered the tomatoes, hoping it would fucking rain at some point. these are the days where i wish i had just a little heroin to take the edge off.

the landscapers did a good job yesterday, other than putting the welcome sign in backwards. thankfully, their boss came out this morning and mom told him she wasn't going to pay him until he fixed it. he looked stunned at first and then saw what she was talking about. hopefully, we won't have the problem with weeds anymore in that bed.

it never fails...

 so, i was in my room trying to get this blog started, etc. and my mother was out in the garage working with some plants. next thing i know i hear the door open and she wants me to come out there because she spilled dirt all over the place. it's not that the garage is fucking spotless to begin with, it is my mother's inability to ask for fucking help, ever. so, as i was out there sweeping up and trying to get the dirt where she wants it, she fucking falls. she said repeatedly that she was fine and i replied with, now you have no fucking choice, you are using a walker everywhere you fucking go. and i get the feeling, i'm going to have to play the asshole and make her use it. like literally strap her fucking wrist to one. this is not how i wanted my Saturday to begin. oh, where is my sister you ask? she is out with her friends, who have always been more important than her family. my sister snapped at my mother last night when mom complained about being sore after 15 minutes of yoga. my sister tends to forget that mom nearly died 4 months ago. i know she doesn't want to think about it as then it would mean she has to face her own fears about death. and god forbid you realize that you are going to fucking die one day. i crossed that fucking bridge nearly 40 years ago. been looking forward to it ever since. so, i spent most of last night just listening to my mother cry and bitch about my sister. good times.

since mom had a doctor's appointment today, i decided i would shower at night so she wouldn't feel like she had to rush today to get ready. of course, i'm a night owl anymore, so that shower came at 3 in the morning. i'm sure she's happy i wasn't blasting music like i do sometimes.

the New York Yankees won another slugfest with the Twins last night, 10-7. they start a 4 game series tonight in Boston. this is their chance to basically eliminate Boston from having any chance to win the division.

one way to waste an afternoon...

i warned my sister as we were driving to the basketball game, i didn't think Dayton had much of a chance today. what we witnessed in the following 2 hours fully encapsulates why this team drives me fucking nuts. Dayton got off to a good start. and then quickly fell back into its usual rut. relying way too much on the jump shot and piss fucking poor defense. Josh Cunningham had a great game but no one else on Dayton played worth a shit. even Rhode Island's coach said they were going to let Josh go crazy, the only way they thought they would lose is if Dayton hit a bunch of threes. that didn't happen, mostly because of the 21 fucking turnovers Dayton had today. Rhode Island is easily the best team in the A10. but quite frankly, that's not saying much. the whole damn conference sucks. Dayton lost to Rhode Island 88-74. Dayton plays again at home on Tuesday against Davidson. i haven't decided if i'm going or not yet.

the New York Rangers lost to Colorado today 3-1. i caught some of the game after i got home from the basketball game. it's not exactly how i wanted them to start this road trip.

Manchester United won 1-0 today over Burnley. i did get to see the goal before i left to go to the basketball game. Martial scored a beauty. and now it looks like Alexis Sanchez will be a Manchester United player before too long. that should make things interesting.

well, the snow started earlier than expected...

i think it started snowing a good 2 hours before the weather assholes on television thought it was going to. i figure that will probably push us into the 6 to 8 inches of snow instead of 2 to 4. so, i think i made the right decision by not going to the basketball game tonight. now, i'm still debating if i should get the mail or just wait until tomorrow. of course, if we get 8 inches of snow, i might be waiting until Sunday. good times.

i wrote 8 poems last night. that brings my total for the month up to 11. i typed the poems up this afternoon. my printer went on strike for a portion of this afternoon. i laughed when i saw the troubleshooting step for me was to just wait. i waited a good 20 minutes and sure enough, the printer started working fine. crazy shit. i do like a few of the poems. i am planning another round of submissions around my birthday. i at least have 1 place in mind to send to for that. i'd love to get in the routine of sending to a place i have never sent to with each round of submissions, but i don't think that's going to happen.
