doing laundry during a tornado warning...

i think i had just got my first load of laundry going in the washer and my iPhone went nuts. when i saw it was for a tornado warning, i thought back to 4 years ago when the last one hit around here. thankfully, it was already past us when the experts on tv were saying the tornado has to be here. we got 1.5 inches of rain in just about 45 minutes. on the bright side, the smell of smoke is gone from the air. and i did get my laundry done, eventually.

the New York Yankees lost last night to Boston, 3-2, in 10 innings. they are off tonight and start a series tomorrow night at the Mets.

i did watch a good portion of the NASCAR race, mostly because the guy i bet to win was leading the race.

VICE was very good last night.

the series finale of Ghosts of Beirut was excellent last night.

i really wanted to like The Idol. after the second episode, i have really no interest in watching the show anymore.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw.

Game 5 of the NBA finals is tonight. Denver is up in the series, 3-1.

i will listen to episode 451 of Notsam Wrestling later this afternoon.

i will hopefully write some poems today while mom is in her physical therapy session.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i should be on here tomorrow in the afternoon.

it was fun while it lasted...

so, the New York Rangers lost at Tampa last night, 2-1. the Lightning will play Colorado looking for their 3rd straight Stanley Cup. i wasn't happy that the Rangers coach broke up the kid line last night. but, the true kick in the nuts was when the Rangers tied the game at 1, the Lightning scored 21 seconds later to make it 2-1. i looked at my mother and just said i might as well get ready to shave off the playoff beard. all in all, i believe what many of the experts believe, this Rangers team was a few years ahead of schedule. i really think this loss will be the catalyst to go even farther next time. i'm just hoping it doesn't take another 7 years or so for them to get back to this. but, me being me, i will be haunted by the Game 3 collapse more than anything. they were one solid period of hockey from going up 3-0 in the series and having one foot in the Stanley Cup final. the fan in me wants Colorado to absolutely destroy Tampa. my brain believes if Colorado is willing to pay the price to win, it will be in 6 or 7 games.

the New York Yankees hit 6 solo home runs last night and defeated the Cubs, 8-0. they will go for the sweep this afternoon.

i did watch the Belmont Stakes yesterday.

at some point today, i am hoping to go get my hair cut.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be VICE, The Man Who Fell To Earth, the season finale of Barry, the series finale of The Baby, Last Week Tonight and Gaslit.

i'm sure i'll probably watch some soccer today as well as baseball.

and i think i have some laundry to do for my mother. i'm hoping she doesn't try to do that on her own while i'm out getting a hair cut.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

it never fails...

so, i was in my room trying to get this blog started, etc. and my mother was out in the garage working with some plants. next thing i know i hear the door open and she wants me to come out there because she spilled dirt all over the place. it's not that the garage is fucking spotless to begin with, it is my mother's inability to ask for fucking help, ever. so, as i was out there sweeping up and trying to get the dirt where she wants it, she fucking falls. she said repeatedly that she was fine and i replied with, now you have no fucking choice, you are using a walker everywhere you fucking go. and i get the feeling, i'm going to have to play the asshole and make her use it. like literally strap her fucking wrist to one. this is not how i wanted my Saturday to begin. oh, where is my sister you ask? she is out with her friends, who have always been more important than her family. my sister snapped at my mother last night when mom complained about being sore after 15 minutes of yoga. my sister tends to forget that mom nearly died 4 months ago. i know she doesn't want to think about it as then it would mean she has to face her own fears about death. and god forbid you realize that you are going to fucking die one day. i crossed that fucking bridge nearly 40 years ago. been looking forward to it ever since. so, i spent most of last night just listening to my mother cry and bitch about my sister. good times.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

AEW was pretty good last night as well.

Betty was very good last night.

Pause with Sam Jay was hilarious last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs last night:

enjoy some music:

the Yankees play this afternoon at Philadelphia.

i'm sure i'll watch some of the NBA playoffs tonight.

i am enjoying watching the Euro 2020 so far. Italy won yesterday 3-0 and i watched Wales and Switzerland finish up 1-1 this morning.

holy shit, i was watching Finland vs. Denmark and watched Christian Eriksen collapse. it doesn't look good and the match has been suspended.

i should be on here tomorrow in the morning i guess.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

nothing a little dirty talk couldn't fix...

i don't want to get ahead of myself, but i'm really hoping this woman i've been speaking to in Rome the last few days is the real thing.

i sent out 31 poems today. 5 each to North of Oxford, Horror Sleaze Trash and Synchronized Chaos (already accepted); 6 poems to Record Magazine and 10 poems to Squawk Back. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

today the humidity has been fucking unbearable. beyond the air you can wear. this was the type of day where the temp was only in the 70's and your balls were still sweating.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i thought they did a decent job setting up their portion of Money in the Bank this weekend.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown and Deadliest Catch. i'll watch 205 Live on the WWE Network sometime tonight.

the New York Yankees start a 2 game series at home tonight with Washington. hopefully the Yankees can get on another long winning streak.

i'm almost hoping it rains soon to get this fucking humidity out of here. i'll accept the pain for that.

i had to take mom to the grocery store today. she wanted me to go get her pills but i reminded her, since she's got new insurance, she had to go. that was a fucking fiasco. i believe we were at the pharmacy for around 30 minutes because Medicare didn't want to pay for this one medication unless it was from a certain manufacturer. i can understand why so many elderly people just wish to die. we also had to get some things she forgot when we were at the store on Friday. all in all, we were in there for a little over 60 minutes.

the trash is done so now i'm off to go ice down my back in my massage chair.

see you tomorrow kids.

the air you can wear

i went outside this morning to get the paper and it felt i was walking through a wall of humidity and heat. these are the days where i wish i would actually have a metabolism that worked. and of course, mom complained about the house being too cold last night... right as i was doing laundry and washing the dishes. good times.

the New York Yankees finished off the sweep of Baltimore yesterday, winning 14-3. they outscored the Orioles 38-8 in the series. this was the first time the Yankees have scored 8 or more runs in 5 straight games since 1956. Aaron Judge hit two more home runs yesterday, the first one being one of the longest home runs i have seen hit in the new Yankee Stadium. 495 feet. holy shit. the Yankees will go for their 6th win in a row tonight out in California against the Angels.

i was very interested to see how the men's national team was going to play last night against Mexico, especially since Bruce Arena was making 7 changes. when Michael Bradley scored a holy shit goal just 6 minutes in, i started dreaming of a victory. of course, Mexico evened the score 20 minutes later. i think the USA did enough to earn the point last night in the 1-1 draw. they have certainly played worse than that in that stadium before. all in all, to get 4 points in 2 games is about as well as they could have done. they raised their odds of qualifying for the next World Cup, and that's all that matters.

Silicon Valley was great last night.

Veep was very fucking funny last night.

Last Week Tonight was brilliant as always.

Twin Peaks: The Return was another glorious mindfuck last night.

I'm Dying Up Here was pretty good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Putin Interviews, Part 1.

i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade this morning. the link will be below in the music section.

i did a little poetry work today. i believe i know where the next round of submissions are going to go.
that will most likely happen either tomorrow or Wednesday.

that's all for me today kids. i hope everyone had a great weekend.

so miracles do still exist

when the USA was up 1-0 last night against Paraguay and getting ready to start the second half, i was pretty confident. 5 minutes later, after Deandre Yedlin picked up two yellow cards and was sent off, not so much. thankfully, the USA defended the rest of the half like their lives depended on it. John Brooks was amazing. Brad Guzan was amazing. honestly, all of the guys were amazing as Paraguay needed the game more than the USA did. when the final whistle blew, i was spent. i felt like i was out there defending with them. but, to make it out of the group after losing their first game is an accomplishment.

then i settled in to watch Costa Rica take on Colombia. Colombia's coach decided to basically change the entire team. i could understand his thinking. the USA destroyed Costa Rica, so Colombia should be able to do the same. whoops. Costa Rica stunned the number 3 team in the world, defeating Colombia 3-2. so that means that, holy shit, the USA won Group A and will most likely avoid having to play Brazil in the quarterfinals. the USA will play in Seattle on Thursday against the runner up of Group B. Colombia will most likely play Brazil on Friday.

i woke up this morning still in disbelief. my best guess is the USA will play Ecuador. if they can win that, amazingly, they will be in the semifinals.

the Copa America matches tonight are Ecuador vs. Haiti and Brazil vs. Peru.

i'm watching Croatia take on Turkey right now in Euro 2016. Croatia is up 1-0 with a beautiful goal from Luka Modric. the other matches today are Poland vs. Northern Ireland and Germany vs. Ukraine.

the New York Yankees lost last night, 6-1. i didn't watch until they loaded the bases in the bottom of the 9th. and as usual this season, they didn't do anything. today is Old Timer's Day at the stadium. time for another voyage back into nostalgia.

ROH was excellent last night. all the matches were great.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the series finale of House of Lies, Penny Dreadful, Silicon Valley, Veep and Last Week Tonight.

i got Shrug's new CD this morning. holy shit it's great. i'm so happy they decided to put out music again. here is a link to it: http://shrug.bandcamp.com/

it felt like it was already 80 degrees when i went out to get the paper this morning. i think mom might be going to the grocery store alone today.

i think i might try to do some writing as well today. i've got a few thoughts running in my head.

that's all for me kids. i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday is even better.

waking up in a sweat

maybe it was the heat. maybe it was the underlying sentiments from my mother and sister. maybe it was death. maybe it was a sense that i'm entering a new chapter of my life. but waking up in a pool of your own sweat while the air conditioner and a fan is on overnight is a bit unsettling. of course, 45 minutes after waking up, i'm swallowing 2 pills of Imodium. good times.

the Cavs went cold last night and ran out of gas and Golden State finally realized they were playing in the finals. a recipe for disaster if you want Cleveland to win. Golden State won by 21 last night. the game really never felt that close. next game is on Sunday.

The Comedians last night was hilarious. i really think the show has found its legs now.

the Dayton Flyers got a good transfer from Bradley yesterday. best thing, he'll have 3 years left at UD. and he knows how to rebound. i have to love a kid who got 21 rebounds as a freshman. welcome to Dayton, Josh Cunningham. he chose Dayton over Illinois.

mom and i went to Waffle House for dinner last night. that could explain my morning.

enjoy some music while i think of something to say:

not that i actually watched anything late last night, but here's some funny shit anyways:

i have a busier than shit day ahead of me. before noon, i'd like to get to the bank and post office. after my chair arrives this afternoon, mom and i are going to the grocery store. we have the chance to get some heavy storms today on top of everything. tonight, i'm hoping to enjoy watching the USA women take on Sweden in the Women's World Cup.

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW and VICE.

if i get a chance tonight, i'd like to get some writing done. i'd like to get enough poems to have some submissions to go for the next week.

that's all for me today. i need to get going. i hope everyone has a great weekend. if not, look in the mirror.

still alive and kicking

the New York Rangers showed life last night, got some great puck luck, and The King stood on his head. he stopped 40 of 41 shots last night and the Rangers won 2-1. this forces the series back out west for Game 5 on Friday. here are the highlights:

the Yankees got a great start from Tanaka (minus the Cano HR in the 9th), a rare 3 run HR from Tex and won 4-2. Tanaka is fucking amazing. he is now 10-1 on the season. worth every fucking penny they spent on him. they go for the sweep tonight.

not sure when the last time i had two victory beers in a night was. feels like weeks. needless to say, i slept well last night.

the World Cup starts today with Brazil vs. Croatia. i think this match will be a little tighter than most people believe it will be.

after that, i really need to get the fucking dishes done. i've been a lazy bastard here for the last few days. of course, i probably will be that way for the next month as well.

tonight, i will be watching a little basketball, some baseball, and god knows what else. chances are i will fall asleep at some point as the weather continues to fuck with my back.

mom got me this cool ass New York Rangers shirt. it arrived today in the mail. has all the players names on it, forming a big NY. pretty damn cool. will be even cooler if they happen to win it all.

that's pretty much all for me today. i'll be on here tomorrow with some World Cup updates, my thoughts heading into Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, some NBA musings, some bathroom humor, maybe some poetry news, and who knows what else.

hope everyone is well. hope everyone enjoys the World Cup. i decided i'm drinking anytime the USA wins (since i'm American), anytime Germany wins (since i'm part German), and anytime a Manchester United player scores (since i'm an alcoholic).

peace and chicken grease my enemies...
