so, the last time the Cincinnati Bengals went to the Super Bowl, i was 13 years old. to see them come back from being down 21-3 and defeat the Chiefs in OT, 27-24, was fucking surreal. they will play the LA Rams, who defeated the 49ers yesterday, 20-17.
a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

a few surprises, but nothing surprising...
mom and i decided to get pizza and wings last night from Pizza Hut before the Royal Rumble. it was the first time she had a really good amount of protein since she had her surgery. i thought the Royal Rumble was pretty good last night. it is kind of funny to think that the best guy in the men's Royal Rumble match was Bad Bunny. i did like Paul Heyman turning on Brock Lesnar. that sets up what should be a really good WrestleMania main event. this Roman Reigns and babyface Brock Lesnar haven't faced each other at the event before. i'm going to guess this will be their best match. all in all, i'm looking forward to the road to WrestleMania.

nothing like being below zero...
as soon as i opened the blinds this morning, i could tell it was colder than shit outside. good times.
the Dayton Flyers won last night at home against Rhode Island, 53-51. i watched most of the game on the television. i'm happy i wasn't there as i'm sure i would have been miserable given that Dayton couldn't put the ball into the ocean last night. but thankfully, they actually won one of these ugly ass games for a change.

it snowed all day long...
so, we were supposed to just get some snow in the morning. instead, it has snowed all day long. now, it has only accumulated to about an inch or so, but still... i think i left the house for a couple minutes today, just to get the paper and the mail.
the USMNT defeated El Salvador last night, 1-0. i wish they would have been more clinical in the final third, but i'll gladly take the 3 points and get one step closer to qualifying for the World Cup.
the New York Rangers pissed away a 2 goal lead last night and lost to Columbus, 5-3. they play Minnesota today at home. they are retiring Henrik Lundqvist's #30 tonight. it should be quite the ceremony. the team announced today that Adam Fox is on IR. i'm hoping he didn't break his wrist last night. he won't be back until after the All Star break.

a wasted day...
i had all these plans today, and instead of actually getting shit done, i spent most of the fucking day on the phone with Anthem, Rite Aid and the guy who set up my new insurance. well, it turns out what the main fuck up was, and i wish someone would have pointed this out to me way sooner than now, the guy who got me my new insurance put in my birthday incorrectly. so when i was telling everyone that i was born on January 21, all they saw on the computer was that Anthem had my birthday down as January 27. the woman at Rite Aid, when i was calling to get two prescriptions refilled, told me about the birthday mix up. so, i ended up having to call Anthem and go through the entire application process again. it also doesn't help that my mother claims me on her taxes. i'm not sure if Anthem truly understands that this insurance is for me. and they kindly didn't tell me that it would take 48 hours for the changes to go into effect. and people wonder why i get depressed and why i apologize to my 8 year old self on days like these. so, i guess by early next week i'll truly know what the fuck is going on with my insurance. if it still fucked up after all this, i will slip into the ether and i'm sure someone will be able to write a nice tragedy about my story.
AEW was excellent last night.

what a long day...
hard to believe it has been 2 years since Kobe Bryant died. that also means it has been 2 years since COVID really got into the world. damn.
so, i got the Highlander to the dealership this morning on time. 2 hours later, after an oil change, tire rotation, replacing the engine filter and a light bulb on the drivers side that was out, i was paid up and leaving. i did appreciate the woman i was working with in the service department said she noticed the time and realized i was here way too long. in my head, i was thinking, no shit. but, it all got done for under $200, so i was happy, as was mom. after that, i had to finish the grocery shopping.
Kroger wasn't too bad today. and thankfully, i pretty much found everything that was on the list.
the Dayton Flyers defeated Fordham last night, 68-61.

so, i was standing in Big Lots...
when i got the alert on my phone that Sean Payton was retiring as coach of the New Orleans Saints. this immediately put the doomsday scenario i have had in my head for years into play. he steps away from the Saints and after a year or so, gets that itch to coach and then he's the coach of the Dallas Cowboys. now, thankfully, the Saints will have his rights for three more years, so if that scenario happens, i hope the Saints rip the Cowboys off for a few first round picks and plenty of money. now, if that scenario doesn't happen and he goes into TV or some other role, i will always be happy for the job he did as Saints coach. to get that team a Super Bowl title is so beyond fucking words, let alone to help the city come back from all those fucking hurricanes... some days the news hits you like a punch to the dick. thanks for 16 years coach.

what a weekend...
the NFL playoff games yesterday were fucking crazy. but, given that Tom Brady is out of the playoffs, i am a happy boy. it is pretty amazing that this will be the first championship week in the NFL in 12 years that don't involve Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers. the Rams defeated Tampa Bay, 30-27, after they tried their hardest to blow a fucking lead. the Chiefs defeated the Bills, 42-36 in OT. that was one of the craziest fucking games i have ever seen in my 46 years of life. so, the Bengals will play at the Chiefs for the AFC Championship and the 49ers will play at the Rams for the NFC Championship. it would be pretty crazy if the Bengals and the 49ers play in the Super Bowl, especially since both times the Bengals have made it, they have lost to San Francisco.

and here comes the snow...
i guess the forecast changed overnight. i went to sleep thinking we were going to get a dusting at best of snow. by the time i woke up, the forecast was for 1 to 2 inches. at least i got the morning paper before the snow started to stick. and my sister got back home before any of this hit up where she lives.
Manchester United defeated West Ham yesterday, 1-0. Marcus Rashford scored in the 93rd minute to win the game. that was like the old days.

a cold, cold morning...
so, i could tell how fucking cold it was outside this morning just by looking at the ground. it had that frozen as fuck look. good times.
well, the New York Rangers lost last night at Carolina, 6-3. one of those games you simply burn the tape and move on. they play at home tonight against the Coyotes. this is a game that is a MUST WIN.

happy birthday to me
so, the first thing i saw this morning was the death of Meat Loaf. and then later, i saw the news of the death of Louie Anderson. not exactly how i wanted to spend my 46th birthday, stewing in the news of two people that brought me great joy in my life and their deaths, which of course meant, i would be thinking about my own. my mother and sister got me some great presents this year; books, coffee, music, etc. all of which will be enjoyed.
this is going to be a quick one today as i think we're going to be eating dinner here soon.
Vice News Tonight had a good two shows this week. the show comes back in February.
Young Sheldon was very funny last night.
United States of Al was good last night.
B Positive was excellent last night.
enjoy some music:
