if looks could kill

so, i went in with my mother this afternoon at her doctor's appointment. the doctor looked a little dumbfounded when she told him that since he agreed with the one doctor on her disability claim, they are it taking it away. he explained to mom that he agreed with the report, but not with what the insurance company used as the basis to take away her claim. he welcomed talking to a lawyer and was really pissed when he found out that the doctor he agreed with actually never did an exam on mom. what amazed me about the visit was all the questions she was asked since she is on Medicare. after the nurse left, i told her to remind me to die before i turn 65. fuck me.

this appointment went on forever it seemed. it was easily over 60 minutes, maybe closer to 90. we went to Smokey Bones for our late lunch/early dinner. this was the first time we had gone in over a year. it was really, really good.

the New York Yankees lost last night to Minnesota, 10-5. of course, Sonny Gray was pitching. hopefully, the Yankees win tonight so they win the series and can maintain their lead for the first wildcard. they have just about pissed that away as well.

the USMNT defeated Mexico last night, 1-0 in Nashville. Tyler Adams scored his first international goal for the win. it's appropriate that a guy that plays for New York would score the winning goal on 9/11.

Smackdown was really good last night.

205 Live was good last night.

the season finale of Fuck That's Delicious was great last night.

Mayans M.C. was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Lucha Underground, Big Brother, Mr. Mercedes and American Horror Story. i'll watch NXT and the Mae Young Classic sometime tonight on WWE Network.

we've got just about everything moved away from the windows for tomorrow. we just have some stuff to move in the kitchen and that will get done tonight. all the blinds and curtains are down. i'm hoping the weather is really nice tomorrow and they can knock it out in a day. i know that's not likely, but i don't mind dreaming.

i've been keeping an eye on this damn hurricane. the muse lives down where this fucker is heading, so i'm a little more serious about following the track than normal. so far, this little turn it has taken has given me some relief, but not as much as i would like.

the window guys are supposed to be here between 8 and 10 in the morning. hopefully, i'll get to sleep before 3 in the morning like it has been for the last few nights.

i'll do a blog sometime tomorrow. your guess is as good as mine.

ella tiene la belleza de una diosa y sabe mi nombre

be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

peace and chicken grease...

and here comes the sun

had a horrible time sleeping last night. the temp was rising as the night was going on and i could feel the rain coming. and when i woke up and felt nearly paralyzed, i knew we had a pretty good rain. add that to the melt of snow and i was a little amazed we weren't flooded completely in the lane or front field. pretty damn close though. thankfully, the sun made an appearance today and the water went down some. which is good since we've got 2 more 100% chances of rain coming. supposedly around 3 inches by the time it's all done and back into the 30's. fucking winter in Ohio. how i've dodged the flu is a fucking miracle.

started reading the John Sweet book i got for Christmas, "in the kingdom of oblivion". if you have never read John before, do yourself a favor and find him on the internet or go to his lulu page and buy something. you will not be disappointed.

and speaking of my favorite poets, a special thank you to Debbie Kirk for dropping by the blog today. if you haven't read her before, find her work online and quickly make up for living under a rock. easily, one of the best female poets i have ever read in my life.
http://laurahird.com/showcase/debbiekirk.html is a good place to start.

a busy sports weekend coming up for me. Saturday starts off with the Dayton Flyers hosting Butler. the game will be on the NBC Sports Network. should be an electric atmosphere as Butler will be the highest ranked team to come here in a few years. i'm hoping for a win but a loss wouldn't be shocking to me. sad, but not shocking. (usually when i'm pretty negative going in things work out for the good, here's hoping...). after that, back home to watch some NFL playoffs. Sunday starts with Manchester United hopefully beating the shit out of Liverpool. then, day 2 of the NFL playoffs. hopefully i'll have no flood waters to deal with and i'll just sit back and enjoy.

Sunday night will be a tv nightmare. Golden Globes as well as my Sunday night shows coming back on Showtime and HBO. i feel a long night coming.

i do hope everyone has a good weekend. peace and chicken grease.

Great White - Greatest Hits

as close to a slice of utopia as i can get

it's really hard to have a bad day when you get 2 poems published in the morning. then, spend a good chunk of your afternoon watching CR7 and Messi play while Ray Hudson provides the verbal gymnastics. (if you want a good laugh, look him up on YouTube calling some goals from Barcelona, fucking priceless.) now, if the Yankees can win tonight i will have a little cherry to go on top of my day. fingers are crossed.

thankfully, the horrible feeling i had yesterday evening was nothing. the horrible feeling was that my friend in California had died, but thankfully she called about an hour or so after the feeling started. of course there's plenty of back story that i'm leaving out. i will put that in the book one day. here's hoping you can have a relaxing evening my friend. you need it.

between my baseball this evening i will sneak in a little Big Brother, The Newsroom, Weeds and Episodes. if i truly get fucking bored for some reason, preseason NFL. if it comes to that, my night has turned to shit. you have been warned.

music today:
