no rest for the wicked...

i was hoping the NyQuil was going to help me sleep. sadly, all it really did was increase the amount of drainage and give me a nice buzzed feeling as i was taking a shit at 4 in the morning. nothing like coughing loud enough to wake your mother up 3 rooms away. i think i have got 8 hours sleep in the last 3 days. not exactly the right recipe to beat a cold. good times. and just when i was getting some sleep this morning, i had a fucking cramp in my left leg wake me up.

i actually let mom drive today to the local drugstore. i was worried but she's a fucking adult. if i didn't feel like she was up to it, i would have played the role of the asshole son. of course, she was gone longer than i thought she was going to. and when the phone rang, i figured it was going to be the police to tell me about an accident. thankfully, it wasn't. she went to the grocery store next to the drugstore to get a few things. i was happy she was able to do that today as i was going to do it, but i feel fucking miserable today.

USA men's soccer team played last night against Bosnia & Herzegovina. the game was a 0-0 draw. glad to see i didn't miss anything.

the Royal Rumble last night was excellent. both Rumble matches were good. there was just enough surprises i thought in both matches, although i would have loved to see a few more women from NXT get in that match. but, to see Trish and Lita wrestle again was pretty fucking cool. and i totally didn't expect Rey Mysterio in the men's match. i loved that they had Asuka and Shinsuke Nakamura win the Rumble matches. i certainly wasn't expecting Nakamura to win, that's for sure. especially when he had to eliminate Cena and Roman Reigns to get the job done. Ronda Rousey showing up at the end of the show was a bit of a clusterfuck, but i guess she's signed a full time multi-year contract with WWE. it will be interesting to see how they use her on the road to WrestleMania. all in all, i thought the show was worth my time, and given how sick i am, that's saying something.

the season finale of Shameless was really good last night.

The Chi was excellent last night. the ending was damn near perfect.

Divorce was good last night.

Crashing was really good last night. it was great to see Bill Burr again.

i didn't watch much of the Grammy Awards last night. from everything i have heard and the clips i've seen on YouTube, it's probably a good thing i didn't see it. i love Bruno Mars but there's no fucking way in the world that album was better than Kendrick Lamar's album. no fucking way at all.

i did watch a little of the NHL All-Star game yesterday.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and May It Last: A Portrait Of The Avett Brothers. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

mom's already cancelled all her appointments this week, so basically i'm hoping i can beat this cold this week without having to make a trip to the doctor.

i guess i should actually go get the damn mail before it's completely dark here.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

the white flag

i finally have given in. the pain is just too much for me. the wine only goes so far. i see the doctor on Friday morning. i'm sure that just starts a round of x-rays and tests to see what really is going on. in other words, my weekend is probably shot. although, i wouldn't mind scoring some really good pain drugs out of this. something to make me sleep would be great.

i tried to catch a nap this afternoon to no avail. amazes me that i step away from the computer for a few hours and i have 51 emails to answer. lovely. i never thought of myself as popular enough to get that much email in a few hours, let alone an entire day.

i'm not going to the Dayton Flyers game tonight. i couldn't see myself sitting there for 2 hours holding my left arm in agony and trick myself into thinking i was enjoying this. i'll watch the game against St. Joe's on television. hopefully they can end their damn losing streak tonight.

at 7:30 tonight, the New York Rangers play the New York Islanders at Yankee Stadium. needless to say i will be flipping between both games. i really want the Rangers to kill them tonight.

also tonight are episodes of Duck Dynasty and the season finale of American Horror Story. i might miss Duck Dynasty but i will not miss American Horror Story, no matter what time i have to catch it at.

that's pretty much all the pain will allow for today. i celebrated the temperature getting over zero today by filling the bird feeders up. hopefully they enjoy it and don't eat much so i don't have to fill them for a few days. the cats enjoyed the sunshine today. looks like it will warm up this weekend, but of course with those higher temps comes a nasty rain/snow/sleet mix as well. just my fucking luck.

hope everyone is good. warm. in a better mood than i am. with less pain. or with drugs to send me.

peace.

the start of a long day

today is going to be a long one for me. shit to do all day long. i've got my 5 hours of sleep. no rest for the wicked.

the Yankees got some great pitching yesterday and rediscovered the home run, winning 7-2. they go for the sweep later today. i'll try to sneak a peek from time to time.

i fell asleep and completely missed the horse race. no triple crown yet again.

i caught most of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night. i think Alex Lifeson might have given the best speech i have heard in my life. seek it out on YouTube and enjoy.

Saturday Night Live last night was great. the sendoffs for Bill Hader and Fred Armisen were just about perfect. hell, i even enjoyed the performances by Kanye.

finished up the night with a little ROH. i almost forgot how much i enjoy Steve Corino, especially providing color commentary. plus, watching Kevin Steen and Adam Cole wrestle never gets old.

today marks the final match for Sir Alex Ferguson as the manager of Manchester United. it will be his 1,500th game in charge. remarkable. i really hope the lads play great for him. it wouldn't be right any other way.

right from that is the Yankees game and after a few innings i will be switching over to watch the New York Rangers. this is a damn near must WIN game for them. i don't think they can get down 2-0 to Boston and come back to win it. a split would be just what the doctor ordered. my fingers are crossed.

somewhere i need to fit in the cats, the trash, eating, a nap, and whatever else needs to get done today.

the usual Sunday night shows and then hopefully something more than a few hours of sleep. all depends on how the writing session goes and if there are any late-night phone calls.

hope everyone is doing good. later.
