response from Otoliths

i heard back from Mark at Otoliths on my recent poetry submission. my poems "like we owned the fucker" and "finally saying yes" have been accepted for publication.

#never forget

as much as i know i will never forget 9/11, i also look back on it as such a wasted opportunity to unite this country. and as we sit here in 2018, the most divided we have been in 50 fucking years, i wonder if this divide would have happened if the right steps would have been made to unite this country on 9/12/2001. of course, the Republicans were in power then, as they are now. it's all about greed and war while they are in power. they are only conservatives when the left has the power. it's the joy of being a fucking hypocrite i suppose. but, they are rich, so they don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

i saw Rolling Stone posted a story today from David Foster Wallace about 9/11 as seen from the Midwest. that made me immediately think about the poem i wrote about a week after 9/11.
that poem is in my book Sofisticated White Trash. feel free to buy it on Amazon.com. it was true back then and it is still true today.
https://www.amazon.com/Sofisticated-White-Trash-J-J-Campbell/dp/0981660681

it was actually nice enough that i was able to get outside today and take down the bird feeders by the windows and clean up the fucking weeds and vines a bit. the new windows will start going in on Thursday.

the New York Yankees erupted last night in the 7th inning and defeated the Twins, 7-2. hopefully, they can win again tonight.

i was in and out of Monday Night Raw last night. i really don't think i missed much. it's obvious they were trying to set up Hell in a Cell this weekend without doing too much.

i know the muse and my mother were very happy last night when the New York Jets won. i watched some of that and some of the Rams victory over the Raiders.

the finale of Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story was very powerful last night. i love how it showed how all these racists came out of hiding when Trump started running for President. it's not a coincidence. they are proud to have a racist running this country, just like how they thought it was always meant to be. to them, it's sort of like the south finally won the war. the irony being, it was a stupid as fuck asshole from New York that did it for them. i also liked how they clearly showed the confederate flag is racist as it was declared by the asshole that created it. i know, fucking logic. it doesn't work with the ignorant.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Fuck That's Delicious and Mayans M.C. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the USMNT takes on Mexico tonight in a friendly. i would to see the USA win, but i don't have my hopes up.

i have to take mom to a doctor's appointment tomorrow. this is with the doctor that fucked up her disability claim, so it should be very interesting.

i will probably be on here after we get home from the doctor's appointment and a late lunch.

i have trash to go pick up and i really need to shave and shower after working outside today.

that's all for me kids.

without knowing it, another suicide averted...

apparently, the muse actually reads this blog from time to time. i found that out in our 2 1/2 hour conversation last night. she told me that i make her sound like this horrible person in these posts. i don't think i do, but, allow me to set the record straight. the muse is the most amazing woman i know. she is my best friend. she is the love of my life. she is strong, sexy, confident, intelligent as fuck, weird in a incredibly sexy way and last of all, a bad ass that i have been lucky enough to share so many tender moments with... even if we don't have this amazing, magical relationship that i have dreamt about for years now, we will be friends until the day i die. and i don't tell her this, but it's true. each time we have a long talk and we share things and i get closer, it's another day where killing myself gets shuffled down the list of things to do. she has had so many different life experiences than me, listening to her gives me so many things to write about... having her in my life at all is a fucking gift. last night was a perfect example. after our conversation, i got this thought in my head for a poem. about 2 hours later, i had the whole thing mapped out and was writing it down. i really like it. the muse finally read the poem i sent her the other day. she thought is was just an apology. when she read it again, she realized it was a poem. she did give me permission to get it published, so that will go out one of these days. and then once it gets published, it might become my next SoundCloud recording. so, to the muse, you beautiful soul, i love you and i always will. i just hope one day you decide i am worthy of your love.

the New Orleans Saints lost yesterday at home to Tampa Bay, 48-40. the defense was just god fucking awful. i really thought this was going to be the year the Saints actually started the season with a win. oh well. they are at home next week against Cleveland. if they start this season 0-2, it might be time to blow it the fuck up.

the New York Yankees pissed away chance after chance yesterday and lost at Seattle, 3-2. they play again tonight in Minnesota.

Big Brother was pretty good last night.

the season finale of Power was excellent last night. and then that fucking ending. i can't wait for the next season.

The Deuce was great last night.

Ballers was good last night.

Insecure was fucking great last night.

Last Week Tonight was hilarious.

Shameless was excellent last night.

Kidding was fucking hilarious and weird, at the same time. it was pretty much what i was expecting.

America to Me was really good last night.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and the series finale of Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

there's a doubleheader on Monday Night Football tonight. first game is the Jets vs. Lions and then the Raiders vs. Rams. i do hope the Jets win as that is mom and the muse's favorite team.

i got to sleep last night this morning. it was probably 5:45 when i got done with the last show of the night. i was up at 10 this morning.

our rain total from Friday afternoon to Sunday night was 11.7 inches.

that's all for me kids. i'm falling asleep trying to write this. time for a fucking nap.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

i'm not sure if it will ever stop raining...

since yesterday, we've got another 3.1 inches of rain. that's 11.3 inches since it started raining on Friday. thankfully, when i went out to get the paper this morning, it was down to just drizzle.

i think my sister really liked her birthday gifts. or at least she fakes it well.

Ohio State beat the shit out of Rutgers yesterday, 52-3. honestly, i didn't really bother paying attention to the game after halftime. next week will be a much stiffer test for Ohio State. they will play TCU down in Texas on Saturday night.

the New York Yankees won last night in Seattle, 4-2. hopefully they will get the sweep this afternoon.

ROH was really good last night.

death is easier than change

my poem "death is easier than change" has been published at Duane's PoeTree. you can find the poem by going here: http://duanespoetree.blogspot.com/2018/09/jj-campbell-writes.html

exactly how i thought my Saturday in the rain would start...

we have had over 8 inches of rain in last 20 hours or so. you can imagine my misery. now, toss in 5 rejected poems as well.

i heard back from Mark at Ariel Chart on my poetry submission from last month. i have no problem with having the poems rejected, but the reason he gave made me laugh. he said he was rejecting the poems because of profanity. considering 3 of the poems had no profanity at all... thankfully, now i know of another place to never waste my time on again.

the New York Yankees won last night in Seattle, 4-0. they got some great pitching last night. hopefully, that will continue tonight.

the USMNT lost to Brazil last night, 2-0. considering the USMNT was without their best player, that's not that bad of a job from the kids against the #3 team in the world.

VICE was really good last night.

NJPW was pretty good last night.

the season finale of Random Acts of Flyness was weird as fuck and great last night. i can't wait for season 2.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

Ohio State plays at home this afternoon against Rutgers. hopefully it's another easy victory.

i'm sure i'll probably watch some other college football games today as well.

happy birthday to my sister. she turns... i've learned a long time ago to not mention the age of a woman and i'd like to stay in that will as well.

she should be down here this afternoon. between mom and i, she's going to get plenty for her birthday.

that's all for me kids. i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

response from Alien Buddha Press

i heard back from Jay at Alien Buddha Press on my recent poetry submission. my poems "typical christian", "maria", "that cycle of abuse in the name of the lord", "something other than rumor" and "chasing shadows on this side of the world" have been accepted for publication in the first issue of the Alien Buddha zine. it should come out sometime in late fall/early winter.

apparently, i'm being punished for my past...

so the muse and i got into it last night. i thought i was doing a good thing by helping her out and she started blasting me for not getting with her when she wanted to get with me. now mind you, this was 10 years ago. when i was 32 years old. when i had fucked up my back, pinched my sciatic nerve and had blood clots that nearly killed me. but, since i couldn't fit in a relationship with the muse at that time, i'm an asshole and i'm paying for it. i made the mistake of having a retort and that only made things worse. but, i did write what i thought to be this really amazing poem last night a little after midnight. i gave the muse the choice when i sent it to her this morning. if she doesn't want me to get it published, it won't get published. if she wants me to get it published, then it will. now, i haven't decided if that would be in a zine, here on the blog, or maybe even a YouTube video. i haven't heard back from the muse yet, so i don't know her decision.

what really killed me was the muse bringing up that i talk about other women. this coming from the same woman that checks out dating sites while i'm talking to her on the phone. now, keep in mind, i haven't been on a date in so many fucking years, i have lost count. part of me believes the muse is taking the stress of her job out on me. part of me believes she's frustrated with me that i now am in a place where i want to pursue something with her and she's not in that place any longer. i do think a great deal of her loves me. i think we do have a decent friendship that i'm constantly trying to strengthen. i have no idea if she will ever give me the chance to be with her. one of the lines of the poem was me apologizing for taking so fucking long to realize she's the love of my life. apparently, i wasn't allowed to mature and get better with time. i was supposed to be already perfect when she waltzed into my life.

i'm pretty sure when i die i will have a list of regrets a mile fucking long. i really wish that wasn't the truth. i wish i was this free spirit that never got fucked over, just had all his troubles roll off his back and was happy and content with his world. i have scars so fucking deep, they feel like braille from 300 years ago. it makes me laugh sometimes. like i wanted to be sexually abused as a child. like i wanted a father that didn't love me. like i wanted my best friend to move to Portland, Oregon without me. like i wanted my girlfriend when i was 23 to cheat on me and decide she was a lesbian when i wanted to ask her to move in with me. like i wanted to have to take care of my mother to stay in the will.

i'm trying to strive for the one fucking dream i really want. more than being a successful writer or fame, fortune or endless amounts of people kissing my ass; i just want to be with the woman i am madly in love with. apparently, i will have to go through hell to get there. i've walked that path before and survived. i'm stupid, i'll gladly walk it again.

the grocery store today killed me. every beautiful woman i saw in there reminded me of the muse. one reminded me so much i nearly forgot what the fuck i was shopping for. thankfully, i did get everything on the list and a few extras for my sister's birthday this weekend. the best thing was i got all the shopping done before the fucking rain started.

i did watch a good portion of the Eagles vs. Falcons last night. i always love when Atlanta loses.

Big Brother went as i expected last night. Scottie was voted out again and Kaycee is the new HOH.

Snowfall was excellent last night. things are definitely getting crazy now.

Vice News Tonight had a great week of shows.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be VICE, NJPW, Real Time with Bill Maher and Random Acts of Flyness.

the New York Yankees start a series tonight in Seattle. hopefully they will win.

the USMNT takes on Brazil tonight in a soccer friendly. given how young the USMNT is, this should be rather interesting tonight.

i will probably be on here in the morning tomorrow. i think my sister will be down here in the afternoon for her birthday. i know she's spending the night, so that should be interesting as the tv in the living room doesn't work anymore.

i know i will be on here before Ohio State plays tomorrow afternoon.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. i hope the weather wherever you are is better than the shitty fucking rain here.

well, last night sucked...

i was in a pretty good mood yesterday. the poems i sent were well received and i was feeling good. i sent off what i thought was this sweet little note to the muse and next thing i knew, she was jumping down my throat. i do understand her frustration with everything going on with her life, but it once again reaffirmed my widely held belief of myself... my timing with women is fucking horrific. so, probably for the millionth time in my life, i'm back in the friend pile. now, i'm not complaining, i don't have many friends as it is. but, to be 42 and be more single than even single feels is really dragging on me. a little peek behind the curtain for all of you, and this is something i have only revealed in a few poems that haven't been published yet. a few weeks ago i did a little brain expansion through some alcohol and meditation and unearthed a little gem of a conversation i had with my father when i was 7 years old. i quickly realized why i had it buried deep inside of me. this was the time my father called me a failure and told me i would always be one. to think about that and realize my father willingly never spoke a fucking word to me the last 20 years of his life truly hits home these days. and it gets harder to keep going knowing i can't prove that asshole wrong and get to rub it in his face. so now i'm wondering if my subconscious keeps bringing it up thinking of it as motivation for me or is it simply tormenting me. it feels like no matter how much i try to get better or healthier or more positive in my life, the powers that be within me have no fucking interest.

add on some rain, fucking back spasms and everything else in this clusterfuck... i get more amazed each day i don't kill myself. of course, i know if i do that, i have to go somewhere else. killing myself at home would destroy the resale value of the house.

the New York Yankees played like shit last night and loss to Oakland, 8-2. the Yankees lead in the wildcard over Oakland is down to 3 1/2 games. the Yankees are off tonight and start a series in Seattle tomorrow night.

Big Brother was good last night. i fully expect Scottie to get voted out tonight.

NXT was really good last night.

the Mae Young Classic last night was really good as well.

Lucha Underground was good last night.

Mr. Mercedes was excellent last night. that ending was a classic.

not bad for just 4 hours of sleep...

first off, a little poetry news. the 3 poems published today on the Facebook page of Horror Sleaze Trash were also published on their Tumblr page. you can find that by going here:
https://horrorsleazetrash.tumblr.com/post/177774264443/jjcampbell

i sent out 31 poems this morning. thankfully, my new mouse worked great, so i didn't have to do much typing. with the rain in the area, that was nearly fucking perfect. i sent 3 poems each to Mad Swirl and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash (3 already published), Alien Buddha Press, Academy Of The Heart And Mind, Otoliths and Synchronized Chaos (already accepted for publication). when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

i was up late because the New York Yankees won in Oakland last night, 5-1. they saved all of their offense for late in the game. but, it was a victory they really needed. hopefully, they will win the series tonight.

Smackdown was pretty good last night.

205 Live was really good last night.

Fuck That's Delicious was hilarious last night.

the season finale of Hard Knocks was pretty good last night.

the premiere of Mayans M.C. was excellent last night. i think i will really like this show.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Lucha Underground, Big Brother and Mr. Mercedes. i'll watch NXT and the Mae Young Classic sometime tonight on WWE Network.

besides doing all the poetry work today, i've been helping mom reorganize her closet. she's not able to lift anything above her head. so, i've been putting all the boxes she wants up on the top shelf for her.

i know at some point we need to go down to Best Buy and get a new television. that might happen tomorrow, or it might have to wait for the weekend when my sister is here for her birthday.

i don't think they have picked up the trash yet today. i'm guessing they are waiting for it to start raining for that to happen. the fuckers.

today, i truly have felt like one of my favorite lines from my mother... busier than 9 cats covering up shit in a windstorm.

i have no clue when i'll be on here tomorrow. i know mom has a phone call with some kind of nurse tomorrow that i think she wants me to sit in on. i'm hoping that's not too early in the morning.

the kind of heat that reminds you we only have two seasons anymore, hot and cold...

when i went out to get the paper this morning, it was already humid as hell. these are the days where i know it's no fun for my back. for some damn reason, it doesn't respond to heat at all. i'm finding that out more and more in the shower.

i hope everyone had a good Labor Day. i figured out where the next 31 poems will be going. i will hopefully get a wild hair up my ass and do that tomorrow.

the New York Yankees lost out in Oakland yesterday 6-3. they simply look like a team that has run out of gas at the moment. maybe if Judge comes back and hits immediately they will come back to life. but, i'm certainly not counting on it. the Yankees play Oakland again tonight. it would be nice if they would win, as Oakland is right behind them in the wildcard race.

Monday Night Raw certainly had some moments last night. but, when nostalgia is the most memorable (HBK and The Undertaker), i'm not sure it's the right thing to do for the current roster. i will be patient to see where it goes, but as usual, it usually goes nowhere and that's the fucking problem.

Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story showed just how fucking inept the prosecution was last night. the finale next week should be very interesting.

the trip to the bank was good today. the woman i wrote about a couple weeks ago was working again. bright neon orange fingernails this time. i nearly said something, but my mind was beyond fucking filthy at the moment. i was more or less trying not to stare at a top that was way too fucking tight. so yeah, there will be poems, especially about you Alexis.

i decided to buy some local music yesterday on Bandcamp. i figure it was my way of helping some artists out on Labor Day. those songs will be down in the music section.

hard to believe the NFL starts back up on Thursday. i have a good feeling about my New Orleans Saints this season. i wouldn't mind seeing the Saints make a trip back to the Super Bowl this season.

i'm not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. i want to get those poems out in the morning. if that happens as planned (quit laughing), i'll be on here in the afternoon.

i have trash to go pick up now. joy. i hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

response from Yellow Mama...

i heard back from Cindy at Yellow Mama on my recent poetry submission. my poem "where someone could be loved too much" has been accepted for publication. it should appear in #72, the Valentine's Day issue.

happy labor day

just once in my life, i would love to be able to sleep in on a Monday that's a fucking holiday. just once.

the New York Yankees lost yesterday 11-7. that ended a pretty shitty homestand against the White Sox and Tigers. you can't go 3-4 against two of the worst teams in baseball and think you still have a chance to win the division. the Yankees start a road trip today in Oakland. this will probably be an early glimpse of the American League wildcard game.

Manchester United won 2-0 yesterday. they should have scored more goals and i could have gone without seeing Rashford pick up that red card, but the result is a good way to go into the international break.

Big Brother was good last night.

Power was fucking excellent last night. i can't wait for the season finale next week.

America to Me was very good last night. i would have killed to have a spoken word program back when i was in high school.

Ballers was pretty good last night.

Insecure was very good last night.

i got some corn on the cob and beer brats for Labor Day today. i'm hoping the brats aren't too spicy for mom. i wanted to get something we normally don't have so it wouldn't be the same old shit for a holiday here.

i believe my sister is on a flight home now and i think the muse gets on her flight home in a few hours.

so when i was in the shower yesterday afternoon, i heard something was going on. but, i never heard my mother call for me or anything, so i didn't think much of it. when i got out of the shower, my mother told me that some fat kid got his drone stuck on our roof. i guess mom told the kid to go get his parents and the kid refused. he went across the street instead and the guy that cuts his grass every 3 days got it down for him. i swear, this cul-de-sac is like a shitty episode of Twin Peaks most days.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. i hope your Labor Day is a good one.

i get the feeling i'm going to spend most of today icing down my back and figuring out where the next round of poems are going to go.

gin and my demons had a talk last night...

i wrote 10 poems last night. not a bad way to start off a new month. unfortunately, i had to go to a pretty dark place to write those poems. and not dark like a room with no lights on. it's probably the one thing i wish i could change about my writing process. that being said, i probably wrote the best death poem i have ever written last night. of course, i was in fucking tears while writing it, so i hope it's fucking good. i'm sure those 10 poems will find themselves in submissions this month.

we got 2.1 inches of rain yesterday. i'm sure you can imagine the misery.

the New York Yankees only had 2 hits yesterday. thankfully, that was enough. the Yankees beat the Tigers 2-1. hopefully, they will win the series with a victory this afternoon.

Ohio State whipped Oregon State yesterday, 77-31. i wish the defense would have played a little better but the offense looked like they could score at will. Ohio State faces Rutgers next week.

ALL IN: Zero Hour was excellent last night. i so wanted to be in Chicago for this. unfortunately, i wasn't and i didn't have the money to order the show either. but, the free hour on WGN America was great. and from everything i heard and saw online, the show was amazing as well.

ROH was pretty good last night.

i did flip between a few college football games yesterday. i was pretty happy to see that team up north lose again.

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, Power, America to Me, Ballers and Insecure.

Manchester United plays today at Burnley. i'd love to think United will win this game but they haven't done enough this season to allow me to think that.

i have no clue what else i may do today. i'm pondering my next moves for SoundCloud and YouTube. who knows, i may actually try to just relax today (i know, i'm laughing at the thought as well).

i'll be on here tomorrow before the Yankees play out in Oakland.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.

from the morning rain...

i shot out of bed at 6:30 this morning for some fucking reason.  i tossed and turned all night. about a hour later, it was fucking raining. now it all makes sense. i had to be up so i could get the full suffering from the rain. that is why i always say there is a war going on inside of me. and it's fucking obvious, the good guys aren't winning.

i spent a good portion of last night chatting with the muse as her flight was delayed out to the west coast. that probably played a role in my tossing and turning as well.

the New York Yankees were losing last night and Aaron Boone finally just went the fuck off. he got ejected from the game in one of the more entertaining ejections i have seen in years. the Yankees responded with 3 home runs that gave them the lead. of course, they couldn't keep it. thankfully, they did get the lead again and won the game over the Tigers 7-5. hopefully they will win again this afternoon.

the two episodes of NJPW were really good last night.

Random Acts of Flyness was excellent last night.

on the DVR tonight will be ROH and ALL IN: Zero Hour.

i will spend most of today watching college football most likely, especially the Ohio State game. hopefully, they will win easily today.

i will be on here tomorrow sometime before Manchester United plays in the late morning.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. take it easy and then take it again.
