Happy Halloween...

i was absolutely gutted last night. it hit me hard enough that i gave in to my inner demons and shaved my head. i haven't done that in years. especially in my 20's, i would grow my hair out in the summer and then shave it all off in the winter. maybe last night was the beginning of my mid-life crisis. that certainly wouldn't surprise me.

for everything the Yankees did right in Game 4, the complete opposite happened in Game 5. they started off great last night. they were up 5-0. and then came the errors, the mental lapses, etc. etc. that have plagued this team all season long. the Dodgers did what good teams do when your opponent gives you extra outs. they got 5 unearned runs in the 5th last night to tie the game. the Yankees actually took the lead again at 6-5. but, the bullpen faltered and that was that. the Dodgers won 7-6 to win the World Series 4-1. i was really hoping that i would wake up to the news today that Aaron Boone was out as manager. but, i guess Hal is nothing like his father. anyone with a brain knows that fundamental mistakes come down to a coaching staff not drilling it into the players heads to make sure they do all the little things right. this should be a crazy offseason. the Juan Soto sweepstakes start on Monday. my best guess is he will go to whatever team makes him the highest paid player ever in MLB. i am 95% sure that won't be the Yankees. if just making the World Series is good enough, i really wish the team would change the mantra. it certainly isn't win or bust anymore.

the season finale of Grotesquerie was a bit of a mind fuck last night. i really hope there will be a season 2.

AEW Dynamite was pretty good last night.

Abbott Elementary was pretty funny last night.

Inside the NFL was very good last night.

welcome to the weekend...

well, the fog finally lifted but there still was no sun today. i'm starting to think maybe it is a myth. i had to go to Meijer today to get some things. the lightbulbs we got for the new kitchen light haven't worked the way we were hoping. so, i just got some basic ones and they are working fine now. i had to get some coffee and some other stuff. i saved over $25 on everything and kept it under $100.

i did watch Killers of the Flower Moon last night. it was excellent. as i said to my mother around the middle of the movie, the saddest thing about this is all of this is based on true stories. if you have a spare 3 1/2 hours, i highly recommend checking this one out.

NJPW was excellent last night.

i guess i am numb to this anymore...

so, mom got a call yesterday that i don't think either one of us were expecting. my cousin's husband died yesterday morning. now, he wasn't in the greatest health to begin with, but dying in your early 60's isn't exactly the norm anymore. fuck, i can remember being in their wedding back in the 80's. those memories coming back yesterday was a bit of a mind fuck. but, i look at it like this... he's no longer in pain and the house isn't in his name. at least my cousin won't have to go through that nightmare. and, he chose cremation, so there isn't the need to spend a ton of money on a funeral. the absolutely shitty thing was yesterday was the birthday of their daughter. i can't imagine her pain and loss right now.

so, the friend i was hoping to meet up with yesterday didn't text me back until after 4 PM. i'm not sure what she had going on as she never texted me back after the initial text. i'm never sure why people will say yes to doing something and then never contact the person when something comes up, etc. i mean, i'm not a fucking asshole 100% of the time. i do understand that life gets in the fucking way sometimes. but when someone claims they want to be with you and the last two attempts have gone haywire and sideways, i can't help but wonder, what the fuck is really going on. and with my lack of self esteem, it is always going to come back to what is wrong with me. i will ask the peanut gallery to pipe down, that was rhetorical.

the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at home against Chicago, 24-17.

i did watch a few NFL games yesterday and last night.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

Big Brother was good last night. the final 3 are Jag, Matt and Bowie Jane.

Power Book IV: Force was really good last night. the season finale is next week.

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

Shining Vale was fucking hilarious last night.

Fellow Travelers was excellent last night.

i will probably watch some of the NFL game tonight between the Chargers and Jets.

i think my computer is possessed...

so, right as i was getting ready to write blog 3 of the day, the fan on the computer turned on and now won't turn off. i have shutdown 3 different times, waited longer to turn the computer back on each time, and the fucking thing went right back to making this god awful noise. and people wonder why i'm crazy...

other than sending those poems out today, i haven't done much. i watched some soccer this afternoon, had some lunch and now i need to figure out what i'm making for dinner.

Big Brother was good last night. Reilly was evicted and Felicia is the new HOH. this could be a fun week.

What We Do in the Shadows was fucking crazy last night.

NJPW was very good last night.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween to everyone. i always wanted to love this day. but, growing up in Ohio back in the 80's, most of the time you would have to wear your winter coat over your costume. kind of ruined the whole point. and being a type 2 diabetic, candy isn't something i can just devour anymore. so, if you can enjoy the day, do it to the fullest extreme you can imagine.

so, Manchester United badly needed a win yesterday. Ole changed up the formation, something i was a little surprised he would actually do. but, i also think he knows the board is looking into replacing him, so he had no choice. he played a 3-4-1-2 yesterday. i thought it would work and i was really interested to see CR7 and Cavani playing up top together. they did not disappoint. United got 2 goals from Ronaldo and Cavani and another from Rashford to defeat Tottenham, 3-0. holy shit, a clean sheet. i almost remember what those are like. next up on Tuesday will be a trip to Italy to play in the Champions League. another MUST win game.

Ohio State defeated Penn St. last night, 33-24. the offense did just enough to win, but i thought the defense really turned Penn St. into a one dimensional team. hopefully, they will continue to get better. i believe they play at Nebraska next.

i did watch plenty of other college football games yesterday as well.

here are your highlights from the NBA last night:

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Succession, Insecure, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Last Week Tonight, BMF, Hightown, American Rust and Desus & Mero.

the sun has actually appeared today. it forgot to yesterday. so, i might actually be able to get out and measure the furniture on the back porch finally.

the New Orleans Saints play this afternoon at home against Tampa Bay. i'd love to see the Saints beat the shit out of Tom Brady today. and win the game.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Seattle. hopefully i will get to watch some of the game.

today starts a crazy three days for me. mom has a doctor's appointment at 10 in the morning tomorrow. considering she doesn't get up most days until after noon, that should be interesting. also, the Dayton Flyers play their only preseason game tomorrow night. so, somewhere between all that, a possible trip to the bank, etc... i will try to squeeze two blogs out. good times.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hope your Sunday will be even better.

Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

The Shop was excellent last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live and ROH.

i'll watch plenty of college football today but the game i am looking forward to the most is tonight. Ohio State plays at Penn State.

i woke up this morning to the news of Sir Sean Connery passing. i know my sister loved him as she is a huge James Bond fan. what a life. and to think, live to 90 years old and die in the Bahamas. that's a life well lived. rest in peace.

i should be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays Arsenal. of course, i won't be able to see the game since it will be on Peacock. i'll have to follow it online.

remember to turn your clocks back tonight. i'll usually do it before i go to bed, but will always forget that i need to do it on the printer and in the Highlander.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. stay safe and don't eat too much candy.

an early grave...

i'm a pretty competitive asshole. i really do appreciate when a team has a team reeling and steps on their neck and ends it. that's how i was raised. that's how we played basketball where i grew up. so, while watching Dayton play last night, they had the perfect opportunity to step on the neck of Purdue Fort Wayne. their coach, a man that's determined to send me to an early grave, declined. he chose to slow the game down, waste time, annoy the living shit out of me. i have no doubt i had fumes coming out of my ears. Dayton won the game 91-80. they should have won by over 20. i'm only bitching because style points are included in the new RPI like system the NCAA is using this year. and since last night was the last cupcake Dayton will have for awhile, they should have destroyed them. on a side note, it was nice to see Josh Cunningham back in the lineup. Dayton will play Butler on Wednesday down in the Bahamas.

NJPW was good last night.

VICE was very interesting last night.

the season finale of Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.

Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus was part 2 of the Rick James story last night. i forgot how much he and Prince rivaled each other back in the day. that certainly brought back some memories.

both episodes of Room 104 last night were fucking great and fucking bizarre.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Shut Up and Dribble, Saturday Night Live, ROH and Austin City Limits. i'll be watching NXT Takeover: War Games 2 for most of the evening.

Ohio State plays at Maryland today at noon. i really hope they aren't looking ahead to next week already.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Florida. i was a little surprised at the trade the Rangers made yesterday. but, it was trash for trash, so hopefully a new place for Ryan Strome will get the best out of him. i won't miss Ryan Spooner much.

i don't think the weather is supposed to be great this weekend, so i think i'm going to be indoors for most of it. i'll be on here tomorrow sometime in the morning i suppose.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

laundry done and the weekend approaching...

i got up this morning after a night of pretty shitty sleeping and decided i had to get my laundry done. i know when i'm running out of good underwear, it's time. thankfully, the storms that were supposed to come have held off, so i was able to get my laundry done without my back hurting too much.

my sister's birthday gift arrived today. thankfully it was in a box that the mailman couldn't stuff into the mailbox. i got myself a shirt with her gift, mostly so i could get the free shipping. plus, i don't find shirts in my size that i actually like that aren't wrestling or music related that often.

Big Brother went pretty much as i expected last night. Victor got voted out and then came right back into the game for the third time. i was a little surprised that Nicole won HOH. of course, James gave it to her. so, i expect the exact same two people that were up last week to be up this week.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll was excellent last night. i can't wait to see what happens on the season finale next week.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NJPW and Treehouse Masters.

the New York Yankees start a series with Baltimore tonight. these might as well be playoff games.

i did listen to the latest Sam Roberts' Show podcast this afternoon. you can find it by going here:
http://notsam.com/srshow/2016/8/26/srshow-sammiversary-part-2

i did see the teams that Manchester United got in the Europa League draw. i don't mind the teams, but i don't like how far they will be traveling though.

i will probably be on here early tomorrow. mom has a chiropractor appointment in the late morning. Manchester United and the Yankees will basically be playing at the same time tomorrow. so, early morning is my best shot at getting this done and enjoying the rest of the day.

i hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. be safe and only fuck the ones that cough.

the sky opened up and...

we had a quick thunderstorm move through today right as i was getting ready to feed the cats. needless to say, i waited. and waited. we might have got close to an inch in less than 30 minutes. thankfully, the changes we made out here have worked. the drainage is light years better than what it was.

as for the cats, Whitey showed up today. i didn't see any visual signs of a fight or anything, so i have no clue where she was. but, she was really nice today, so i figure she was off doing some evil shit. my cat Tolstoy was a no show once again. i've got a bad feeling about that one, which would suck, as Tolstoy was definitely a cat that wasn't scared of anything. that probably was the downfall as well.

i sent out 13 poems today; 3 to Dead Snakes and 5 each to BoySlut and Gutter Eloquence Magazine. when i hear back from these places i'll pass along the news here on the blog.

i got the first batch of illustrations from the artist in Sweden. let's just say i haven't been this excited for a project in some time. they are fucking amazing. i will hopefully get to share them soon. in the meantime, check out Janne Karlsson at his site:
http://www.svenskapache.se/

The Bridge last night was a slow burn. but the last 10 minutes got me really interested to see what happens next week.

after that ended, i turned over just in time to watch Mo blow the save for the Yankees. i then tortured myself and watched the rest of the game. Cano homered in the top of the 12th but these are the 2013 Yankees, a team that has snatched defeat from the clutches of victory more times than i can remember. so, of course, with only needing 1 out to win once again, the Yankees give up 3 straight hits to lose 6-5. as a die-hard, i'm not allowed to utter that the season is over. but...

i was hoping to watch the double eviction on Big Brother tonight but the assholes here in Dayton will be showing the Cleveland Browns preseason game. and i'm not waiting up until 2 am to see what happens. so, for a good portion of tonight, i'll be on the computer looking at twitter.

Wilfred looks like another great one tonight. hopefully it will make me laugh as it always does.

i had the pleasure of stumbling upon the LinkedIn profile of the friend that got me into this whole poetry world back when i was 16 today. we haven't had the opportunity to speak to each other in over a decade. so, i really hope to hear from him soon.

that's all for today. i need to get a shower in and get the brain buzzing about 3 poems i need to write this weekend.

insert something witty here

i got a decent amount of sleep last night yet somehow still managed to wake up at 6 a.m. not exactly what i was hoping for. but oh well.

sent out 8 poems today. 5 poems to 5AM (Spring Church, PA) and 3 poems to The Camel Saloon. hopefully i will get some good news back from them both.

kind of interested to see how Manchester United looks here in a little while against Barcelona. not that a friendly is a good marker of how they will do, but playing against that team is a significant step up in competition.

other than that, i'll catch some of the Olympics, got some dishes to do and i will see if the Yankees can somehow not find a way to lose their third straight to the fucking Tigers.
