i'm sure the birds are happy now...

i did remember to set the clocks before i went to sleep last night. not that i was using that damn hour for anything anyway. i think i might have slept for something close to 6 hours last night. of course, that was broken into two segments. if i get 6 hours straight it's most likely due to a coma.

i had to take mom to the store this morning. she had to return something and she needed to buy more pads. i do like it when she saves me the potential embarrassment of buying the wrong ones.

we got back in time to watch most of the A10 final between Davidson and Rhode Island. Davidson won 58-57 which basically means the A10 will get 3 teams in the tournament this year. that could also mean that Rhode Island losing could knock the coach's brother's team out of the tournament. if that happens, i will laugh my ass off tonight. one of the assistant coaches at Davidson was at Dayton for 6 seasons. so, congrats to Kevin Kuwik on his 5th straight trip to the tournament.

Saturday Night Live was very good last night.

ROH was pretty good last night.

the New York Rangers put up a good fight last night but eventually lost in a shootout to Florida 4-3. i did watch a good portion of the game as it was way more entertaining than i thought it was going to be.

the New York Yankees lost today to the Marlins 7-5. i didn't see any of the game, so i'm more or less pretending it never happened.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Our Cartoon President, Homeland, The Chi, Here and Now and Last Week Tonight. i'll be watching WWE Fastlane for most of the evening.

i will probably watch the selection show for the tournament before i start watch wrestling tonight. i'm not sure if i'm going to gung-ho to fill out a ton of brackets this year like the past. i might just fill one out for shits and giggles.

it was nice enough this morning that after breakfast, i went out and fed the birds. it's been so shitty these last few months that i haven't even bothered to go out and fill the feeders. but, the sun was out this morning and there wasn't water standing in the yard. i filled all the bird feeders, which probably means it will fucking rain and ruin half of the fucking seeds.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

Marcus Rashford, have yourself a day...

i got up this morning in time to watch Manchester United vs. Liverpool. i noticed Pogba was out, due to injury, so i was very curious to see how United was going to play. i was somewhat surprised that Mourinho decided not to park the bus right from the start of the game. and it worked. Marcus Rashford scored 2 lovely goals to put United up 2-0 at halftime. it could have been 3-0 if Juan Mata would have scored on his bicycle kick attempt. United gave up an own goal in the second half, but Liverpool, the team that these blowhards on television go on and on about their wonderful strikers, had no shots on goal in the second half. job well done boys.

since i got a grand total of about 4 hours of sleep last night, i've spent the rest of today napping and watching college basketball.

the A10 final tomorrow is going to be Rhode Island vs. Davidson. Davidson has to win for the conference to get 3 teams in the tournament.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was really good last night.

High Maintenance was great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live and ROH.

i did watch the New York Yankees defeat the Mets today 10-3. Stanton hit his first HR of the spring. i can only imagine how many he's going to hit in Yankee Stadium.

the New York Rangers play tonight down in Florida against the Panthers. hopefully the Rangers lose again. that is what is best for their rebuild. the stubborn nature of the coach in this rebuild should be all the GM needs to see to know he has to change coaches in the summer. there's no point in making the team younger if the coach doesn't like to play young players.

i will be on here in the afternoon tomorrow.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

like a dead soul floating through time

i took a piss last night around 3 in the morning and as i was leaving the bathroom a phrase just popped into my head. i laughed. i went back into my room and got my notebook out. this is how the poems happen these days. the demons will tap me on the shoulder and take the lead. i wrote my first 3 poems of March. i typed those up this morning and they are really good. i do have a place in mind for those poems. hopefully i'll have another writing session this weekend.

the New York Rangers lost last night at Tampa Bay 5-3. i didn't mind the loss as Tampa is a way better team right now. the Rangers need to keep losing so they can get a better draft pick.

Gotham was really fucking good last night.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty funny last night.

Young Sheldon was really good last night.

Will & Grace was hilarious last night.

Life in Pieces was pretty funny last night.

Lip Sync Battle was really good last night.

Atlanta was great last night. i can tell that this season is going to be just as good or even better than the first season.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Real Time with Bill Maher and High Maintenance.

the grocery store today took a few years off of my life. first off, i had a scroll of items to get. second, there was way too many people for 1 pm on a Friday afternoon. and thirdly, my brain felt like it was on a different horizon than my body was at the store. i think i was holding 4 different conversations with myself while walking around. i'm sure there will be some poems about this. i almost think it was like a defense mechanism. maybe i should just start doing these things while drinking... no, you're right. there's not a chance in hell that will end up going smoothly.

i'm off to go eat some chili and cornbread. that should make for a potentially explosive Friday night.

i'll be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays. i will either be very, very happy or fucking pissed beyond belief.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

thank god this season is over

when the Dayton Flyers were up by 5 points with 3 minutes left today against VCU, i was curious to see how they were going to play. they were notorious this season for collapsing when they weren't playing at home. sure enough, that's exactly what happened again today. VCU went on a 10-0 run and eventually won the game 77-72. that cements Dayton's first losing season in 12 years i believe. i think there will be a ton of change on the team next year. i hope to god the new players are good enough to overcome some of the worst fucking coaching i have seen in my life. i can't wait to see the excuse when the team is bad and it's all Anthony Grant's players.

after that was over i watched the New York Yankees lose to the Phillies 7-6. the Yankees were up 6-1 at one point in the game. oh well.

we got a little ice overnight. i made sure to wait for it to warm up before i went out to get the paper this morning.

i cleaned the wound on my left leg so well last night that it wouldn't stop bleeding. i eventually found some gauze and a bandage. it was another night where i didn't fall asleep until 4 in the morning. and here i was hoping a warm shower before going to bed was going to help me sleep.

The X-Files were pretty good last night. anytime i see something about witchcraft, i always think of the two witches in high school that put a curse on me. who knew that shit actually works?

NXT was very good last night. the Takeover card is starting to take shape for WrestleMania weekend.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Life in Pieces, Will & Grace, Gotham, Lip Sync Battle and Atlanta.

the New York Rangers play tonight down in Tampa. it will be sort of weird seeing so many former Rangers wearing Tampa's uniform. Tampa is probably one of the best teams in the NHL right now. i don't give the Rangers much of a chance tonight.

i did listen to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. you can find that by going here:

shorts and snow flurries

i couldn't get comfortable in bed last night until something like 4 in the morning. my left leg was absolutely fucking killing me. eventually, i got a few hours and have been dragging all damn day. thankfully, mom had a 3 ring binder she wasn't using, so that saved me a trip to the dollar store.

i am sort of in shock that out of the 24 poems i sent out yesterday, 6 have been published, 13 have been accepted for publication, 2 have been rejected and 3 i am still waiting to hear back on. and most of those poems were poems i had written while in the waiting room of my mother's physical therapy. maybe i have some talent still left in this wreckage of a body.

The Voice was pretty good last night.

Smackdown was sort of just how hum until the end last night. i was somewhat shocked that they had Sami Zayn turn on Kevin Owens last night. it made sense from the point of this is the only way you could logically have Sami win and not have to have a title exchange hands. but, part of me thinks that should have been saved for the ppv this Sunday. now, god knows Sami won't be winning that match, but it would have been so easy to then set up a WrestleMania match between Kevin and Sami and have it feel somewhat fresh. when you have watched for as long as i have (basically 40 years now) this is what you do when watching. it's always how you think it would have been better. thankfully, there are still times when i watch when i think i couldn't have done that any better. when that stops, it's basically time for me to stop watching.

205 Live was excellent last night. i do like the matches they have set up for the semi-finals of the Cruiserweight tournament. Cedric Alexander vs. Roderick Strong and Drew Gulak vs. Mustafa Ali. those have the chance to be awesome.

Baskets was pretty funny last night.

Hate Thy Neighbor was really good last night. the whole show was about the border between Mexico and Arizona. it clearly showed how inept the government is. of course, none of them can be honest and just say they love cheap labor more than curbing illegal immigration.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The X-Files. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

i did watch some of the New York Yankees vs. the New York Mets this afternoon. the Mets were winning 4-1 at one point. the Yankees scored 10 runs in the last two innings to win 11-4. this could be a fun season ahead.

the New York Rangers ran into a better team last night in Winnipeg and it showed. the Rangers lost 3-0. that should bring them back down to reality. in my view, it was a good loss as i truly want them to tank the damn season and get a high draft pick. hopefully, that is what happens.

there was some blowing snow when i went out to get the paper this morning. of course, i was in a hoodie and some shorts. that cold air felt really good on my left leg. the wind was a different story though. thankfully, i had enough in the trash can and recycle bin that neither blew away.

i will be on here tomorrow after Dayton plays VCU in the A10 tournament. either i will be surprisingly happy or relieved that this damn season is finally over.

that's all for me kids.

it's only blood...

i don't know how many fucking times i have hit my lower left leg on this spot on my bed frame, but it fucking hurts every damn time i do it. but, it's only blood. as i told my mother, everything on that leg is fucking dead except the nerves. and quite honestly, if i didn't have something to bitch about, it wouldn't be my life.

i sent out 24 poems today. 3 to Pyrokinection, 5 each to Your One Phone Call, Misfit Magazine and Synchronized Chaos (already accepted for publication) and 6 poems to Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

The Voice was pretty good last night.

just like the old days

i needed to take mom to the bank before her doctor's appointment today. of course, the bank is in a different county, so it was going to be interesting. we got to the bank in plenty of time but it was like no one in the place had seen a check that had two numbers to the left of a comma before. it took way longer than it should have in there. i knew my only hope to get mom to her doctor's appointment on time was to take the highway. i hated doing that because of all the fucking construction around here. thankfully, i'm a great driver under pressure. and thankfully, the winds weren't crazy enough to fuck with the SUV when i was going over 80 mph. i got mom to her 2:30 appointment on time. thankfully, this doctor has his shit together and we were in and out in about 15 minutes. after that, it was off to the sports bar.

of course, the sports bar we went to didn't have the Manchester United game on. it's probably a good thing as i turned on the game at home right after United cut the lead to 2-1. Smalling scored the first goal. Lukaku tied the game at 2-2. and then, with an absolute beauty, Matic scored the game winner in the 91st minute for the 3-2 victory. that felt like the old days a bit. that's a big win before they play those cunts from Liverpool on the weekend.

i did do some poetry work this morning after my shower. i have good idea where my next 24 poems are going. that should happen in the next few days.

Our Cartoon President was fucking hilarious last night.

Homeland was excellent last night.

The Chi was great last night.

Here and Now was really good last night.

the season finale of Divorce was much better than i was expecting.

the season finale of Crashing was excellent as well.

Last Week Tonight was fucking great last night.

i believe there is supposed to be some rain or a wintry mix moving in overnight. oh great. well, i didn't sleep worth a shit last night (thanks to a phone at 3 in the morning), might as well make it 2 for 2.

i didn't get to the phone in time as i had just fallen asleep. it felt like the phone was ringing in a dream. no message left and i checked the caller i.d. i know who it was, but i haven't heard back from her yet either. i figure it might have been a butt dial or it could have been the end of the world. not sure yet.

i'll be on here tomorrow sometime in the afternoon.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

blood blisters...

i felt a pain on my waistline last night as i was trying to fall asleep. i already had 3 drinks in me, so i was wondering if this pain was actual or was my imagination drunk and living it up. nothing quite like an investigation at 4 in the morning and discovering a blood blister. i decided not to pop it. i usually do that in the shower. that makes cleanup a little easier. so, i put on some ointment and was able to get nearly 3 hours of sleep. on a night where 3 drinks should have put me out for 5 or more hours. fuck life.

the Dayton Flyers won yesterday on Senior Day over George Washington 88-78. that gives them the 9th seed in the upcoming A10 Tournament. they will play VCU on Thursday. and if they somehow get past them, they will play top seeded Rhode Island next. it will take an act of god or whatever to get them to the weekend.

i had 2 people cut me off while i was trying to get out of the parking lot after the game. and then i had a woman come to a dead stop coming off the highway to make a left turn. this dumb fuck thought there was a stop sign. if i wasn't paying attention, i'm pretty sure one of us would be dead. as i told mom when i got home, well, your brakes work.

the New York Rangers won last night in Edmonton 3-2. it was the first win for their backup goalie in his NHL career. i really can't believe they are now just 3 points out of the playoffs. they play again on Tuesday at home against Winnipeg.

Saturday Night Live was fucking hilarious last night.

ROH was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Our Cartoon President, Homeland, The Chi, Here and Now, Last Week Tonight and the season finales of Crashing and Divorce.

i doubt i will watch any of the Academy Awards tonight.

i did watch some of the New York Yankees this afternoon. they finally had a game where nothing went their way. they lost to Tampa 9-1.

my sister did come down last night. she brought with her some girl scout cookies. just what a house of diabetics need. i guess she came down to help our cousin with the family tree. they went through a ton of pictures this afternoon. that's something that has never interested me. i come from a long line of drunks, crazies and assholes, or even better, all of the above. i don't need to dig any deeper.

if i'm not on here in the morning tomorrow, it will be a really late afternoon blog. mom has a doctor's appointment and i believe she wants to go out to eat afterwards. i already told her that we will be going to a sports bar since Manchester United plays on Monday afternoon.

i hope everyone had a good Saturday. hopefully your Sunday was even better.

getting used to the pain...

be it arthritis. be it a "woman" trying to scam money from me online. be it what i am now believing to be diabetic nerve pain. be it just fucking life in general. i have gotten so fucking used to being in pain, that i hardly care to even recognize it anymore. it looks like it's not supposed to rain for a few days. that should help, hopefully.

the New York Rangers won last night at Calgary 3-1. The King had 50 saves for the second consecutive game. he's the first Rangers goalie to do that since 1963. and he is the first goalie in NHL history to do that and get victories in both games. i never thought the Rangers would make those trades and go on a winning streak. they play tonight in Edmonton. if they somehow win tonight, i think they will just be a few games out of the playoffs. now, the last thing they want for their rebuild is to make the damn playoffs, but it is encouraging to see that the team hasn't accepted losing as their culture.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

the season finale of Treehouse Masters was really good last night. the first hour was a look at some treehouses in France. the second hour was the speakeasy treehouse they built for Shaq.

NJPW was really good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

High Maintenance was great last night.

enjoy some music:

i will be going alone to the Dayton Flyers game today. mom wanted to go but she's not feeling up to it. the game is on television, so she can always watch it if she wants to. Dayton plays George Washington today. it's Senior Day for the Flyers. last home game for Darrell Davis and Joey Gruden. that should mean the coach of the Washington Redskins will be at the game today. i hope Dayton wins as i have already seen them lose enough this season.

i believe my sister is coming down tonight. i'm not exactly sure why. i figure she's just visiting.

i'll be on here tomorrow, probably in the afternoon.

insomnia is taking over these days...

for the second or maybe 500th straight night, i found myself swimming down the drain of various rabbit holes on the internet around 3 in the morning. exhaustion doesn't work anymore. alcohol doesn't put me to sleep anymore. i figure if i start mixing pills i'm going to end up like Heath Ledger without the money. what i would give for something like 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep...

Vice News Tonight was very interesting last night. it showed what it is like for a family traveling in China for the Chinese New Year. very, very interesting.

Gotham was fucking great last night.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty funny last night.

Young Sheldon was pretty funny as well last night.

Will & Grace was fucking hilarious last night.

Life in Pieces was very funny last night.

Lip Sync Battle was pretty good last night.

Atlanta was fucking great last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Real Time with Bill Maher, High Maintenance and the two part season finale of Treehouse Masters.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Calgary. i'll probably check that out during commercials. i'm not expecting them to win tonight.

i did see the New York Yankees win on a walk off home run from Tyler Austin this afternoon. hopefully they are getting into the good habit of winning early this season. the dog days of the baseball season will be here before you know it.

i went to the bank before i went to the grocery store today. the guy in front of me at the back was a skinnier version of me. although, i think my goatee looks much better than his beard, his tattoos were much more elaborate than mine. and i am way too old now to be wearing shorts when it's 40 degrees out.

the grocery store went pretty well. i laugh at the number of women that seem scared of me when i turn down an aisle. of course, i doubt my cheery disposition can make it past this fucking wall.

i'll be on here tomorrow sometime before i go to the Dayton Flyers game in the afternoon. it's the last home game of the season. i'd love to see them win on Senior Day, but i won't be holding my breath. i believe mom is going to try to go to the game. that should be interesting.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

starting March off in the rain...

it started raining last night and has continued on and off all damn day long. last time i checked, we were at 1.8 inches so far. i might have got 4 hours of sleep last night. and that's a very iffy might.

mom had to cancel her physical therapy this afternoon as her blood sugar spiked way higher than normal. that was a fun little scare for the day. maybe this will teach her that she needs to have some semblance of a balanced meal for breakfast each morning. the days of coffee and a roll and that's it are over. of course, i'm not sure how many times i can tell an adult what to do when she knows this shit already.

the Dayton Flyers lost last night at LaSalle 71-53. this season can't get over fast enough.

when the New York Rangers got up 3-0 last night in the first period, i was pleasantly surprised. of course, the game was tied at 3 by the middle of the second period. then it became a game of back and forth with Vancouver. eventually, the Rangers ended their losing streak and won in OT 6-5. The King had 50 saves last night. the new additions they got from Tampa and Boston looked pretty good last night. once the defense gets some experience, this team might just be able to turn things around in less than one season. at least that's what i am hoping for.

NXT was pretty good last night.

The X-Files showed exactly why i don't trust any artificial intelligence.
