other than a cold wind, today was one of those January days you couldn't really complain about. of course, next week is supposed to be below zero. the complaints will be flowing.
took mom to her foot doctor today. that went smoothly. then, i had to drive her to her regular doctor to pick up a test she needs to do. after that, she wanted to go out to eat. she decided she wanted to go to Waffle House. so, i drove back to where we live and went to the one in town. i'm not sure which genius decided they need new chairs. holy shit those are bad. it was like they got a discount on children's chairs and just said fuck it. the food was good but you could clearly tell that no one working actually wanted to be there. good times.
so, another day dominated by NFL news.
AEW Dynamite was good last night.
I Can See Your Voice was very good last night.

it rained and rained all night long. as you can imagine, i didn't sleep worth a shit. i probably didn't fall asleep until around 5 AM. thankfully, i woke up and was able to have breakfast before noon. i got all the grocery shopping done and was able to get back home before the next round of weather started. good times.
so, there has been some holy shit news today in pro and college football. Pete Carroll out as Seattle's coach and Nick Saban is retiring from Alabama.

i picked up that logic when i was working at the airport as a cargo handler. and being that i am a very competitive person, it completely makes sense. so, that is why the sign stealing scandal in college football wasn't a huge deal to me. it was more of how did they get caught? that is the part of everything that i want to know. mostly so i never make the same mistake.
i did watch some of the college football final last night. Michigan beat Washington, 34-13. at least i made some money on it.
the New York Rangers lost last night at home to Vancouver, 6-3.
Manchester United won at Wigan yesterday, 2-0. they probably should have scored 4 or 5 goals honestly. at least they have advanced in the FA Cup. they will play Tottenham on Sunday at home in the Premier League.
Monday Night Raw was good last night.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:

i just sent out 13 poems. 5 each to Synchronized Chaos and The Asylum Floor; 3 to The Beatnik Cowboy. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.
the NFL regular season is finally over. now, it is time for the playoffs.
the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at home against Atlanta, 48-17. Atlanta fired their coach after the game. i know everyone is talking about the late touchdown the Saints scored, going against the play the coached called. now, i understand both sides of this argument. what truly pissed me off was the Saints head coach immediately threw his players under the bus in his apology to the Falcons. to me, if i was the owner, i would have fired him right there. how the fuck do you think any players want to come to New Orleans in free agency when the coach shows time and time again he doesn't have the players backs. the Saints are at the worst spot in the NFL right now, they are mediocre. 9-8, shitty draft pick, blah blah blah.
the Dayton Flyers won yesterday at home against UMass, 64-60. thank god i took Dayton on the moneyline.
The Curse was really good last night. the season finale is next week.
i did catch some of the Golden Globes last night.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Monday Night Raw.
the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Vancouver.
i will probably watch some of the national championship game tonight between Michigan and Washington. i'm torn a little bit. i'd love to see Michigan lose since i am an Ohio State fan. but, i'd win more money if Michigan wins.
Manchester United plays today at Wigan in the FA Cup. if United wins, i will have 14 of the 15 FA Cup games i betted on correct. a nice big fuck you to West Ham for that draw that would have possibly given me the 15 out of 15 (and roughly $400). of course, if United loses today, i really hope heads start to fucking roll.
i did write 3 poems late last night. that was encouraging, at least to me. i'm going to try to get some poems out late tonight.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

so, i'm on here way later than i wanted to be, but it is for a very good reason. last night i decided to go through my stack of unpublished poems. granted, i should have done this earlier or better yet, every year, but last night was it. i think i might have retired around 300 poems last night. now, i was hoping it would stir some new poems out of me last night. that didn't happen but at least i won't have years and years of work to wade through to figure out my submissions now. that being said, i will hopefully get some poems out soon.
the New York Rangers lost last night in Montreal, 4-3, in a shootout. at least they woke up soon enough to get a point out of the game.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
i did watch both NFL games yesterday. the Steelers beat Baltimore, 17-10. Houston beat the Colts, 23-19.

that brings me to the Dayton Flyers game last night at Davidson. Dayton won the game 72-59. and honestly, i think they should have won by more. they will play UMass on Sunday.
AEW Dynamite was good last night.
I Can See Your Voice was hilarious last night.
i did catch the USA vs. Finland game today at the World Juniors. i was not happy when the USA went down 2-0. i was thrilled when the USA won the game 3-2. they will face Sweden on Friday for the gold medal.

i have had a bad back for most of my adult life. so, i know the little tricks of how to cope with it. there are certain days though, where it doesn't fucking matter. today was one of those days. i couldn't get it loose or feeling good, but i knew that the grocery shopping had to get done. so, the joy of good pain tolerance is you just fucking power through shit and face the consequences down the line. if it means i die sooner than expected, i'm cool with that, given my current situation in life. of course, shit changes as well.
the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them last night, losing at home to Carolina, 6-1.

how many fucking gray days is this winter going to be? fuck, i haven't seen the sun for days it feels like. mom did get her injection today. she was worried, since she was running behind, that we were going to be late. thankfully, i learned a long time ago how to draft behind semis on the highway. we got to the place 8 minutes before her appointment time. after she got her injection, she wanted a Frozen Coke from McDonalds. at least that line moved pretty fast.
i got home in time to watch some of the World Juniors. it was a very interesting day. Finland beat Slovakia in OT, 4-3. Czechia got a late goal to upset Canada, 3-2. Sweden defeated Switzerland in OT, 3-2. the USA whipped Latvia, 7-2. so, the semi-finals will be USA vs. Finland and Sweden vs. Czechia on Thursday. winners face each other in the gold medal match. losers face each other for the bronze. been a long damn time since Canada got knocked out this early.
Monday Night Raw was very good last night.
i did watch some of both college football games last night. the championship next Monday should be pretty interesting.

first off, i hope 2024 is the best year for everyone, even my fucking enemies. and i mean that, i am hoping to build on what i was able to accomplish in 2023. and i believe a big part of that is to continue to be as positive as i possibly can be about most things. now, i do know i am too much of an asshole and realist to be 100% positive all the time. but, as the muse has pointed out from time to time, i have made some changes in my life that are very positive. and the biggest one was cutting out nearly all the negative people in my life. last year was the first year that it truly felt like that was working for me. and i certainly want to build upon that in 2024.
the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at Tampa Bay, 23-13. they somehow still have a chance to make the playoffs. they finish up the season at home against the Falcons on Sunday.
i did watch plenty of NFL games yesterday. made a little money as well.
The Curse was excellent last night.
