selection Sunday

from what i've been reading, the "experts" believe the Dayton Flyers will be anywhere from a 8 to an 11 seed. i wouldn't mind them being on the 10 line, as that would move them away from a potential game against a #1 seed if they somehow manage to actually win their first game this year. honestly, i'm just really hoping they get selected. Dayton has never gone 4 years in a row and i would love to finally scratch that off the fucking list. plus, that's a nice big carrot for the freshman next year.

i did do a little writing last night. i wrote 5 poems, one of which i really, really liked. i'm hoping that one gets published as i already have a Soundcloud recording ready for it.

Saturday Night Live was hilarious last night.

ROH was pretty good last night.

i ended up watching more UFC than college basketball last night. i'm happy that there wasn't many upsets. that should help Dayton's cause.

Jerrod Carmichael: 8 was absolutely BRILLIANT last night. one hour of some of the best comedy i have seen in a long time.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Little Lies, Girls, Crashing, Last Week Tonight, Homeland, Billions and Feud: Bette & Joan.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Detroit. i will probably watch some of the game while i'm filling out my NCAA brackets. hopefully Antti Raanta is ready to lead the team to the playoffs while The King is out with an injury.

i have to go to the grocery store today. mom has pills that need to be picked up and i have over $80 worth of pills that need to be picked up. plus, i might as well do the grocery shopping just in case some snow does hit here. and since i'll be going to 4 basketball games over Tuesday and Wednesday... i guess i'll just get it done today.

i will be on here tomorrow most likely after Manchester United takes on Chelsea in the FA Cup. i'm hoping but not counting on a victory for United. there's a reason Chelsea has been on top of the league for most of the season. but, it would be a good day for a miracle.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday and enjoyed that hour of sleep you lost. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

so winter decides to show up when the clock goes forward...

all the "experts" around here are saying to expect a few inches of snow on either Monday or Tuesday. i laughed, knowing the one objective people on the television here locally have is scaring the shit out of the elderly to force them to watch more news. i don't mind snow, even though i would prefer it never to come in March.

i just find it a bit ironic that we "spring" forward on the clocks tonight and in less than 48 hours it's supposed to be fucking cold and blanketed with snow. welcome to Ohio.

i didn't enjoy seeing the news today that Henrik Lundqvist will miss 2 to 3 weeks for the New York Rangers. it's not that i don't believe in their backup goalie, it's that he's going to miss time right as the fantasy hockey playoffs begin. just my fucking luck.

Vice was excellent last night. i loved the shots from Siberia and the very interesting way they are fighting back against global warming.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Perfect in '76 was a fluff piece on the Indiana basketball team that went 32-0 and won the national championship in 1976.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live, ROH and Jerrod Carmichael: 8.

i will probably watch some college basketball tonight, but probably only a few minutes here and there. hopefully there are no upsets. that will increase the chances of the Dayton Flyers actually making the tournament on 2 straight losses.

i figure i might do some writing later today as well. i've got a couple phrases swimming in my head that need to get out of the fucking pool.

that's all for me kids. i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

so much for carpe diem...

when Dayton scored the first basket of the game today, i had no clue they wouldn't have the lead again until late in the second half. Dayton has got into this nasty habit this season of seeing how far they can fall behind in the beginning of the game and still win. Dayton did have the lead by 3 with 2 minutes left, so i could mark it down as a game they should win seeing they have 4 seniors on the court. but, hats off to Jack Gibbs, a great but whiny bitch of a player, who is way too good to flop and cry to the officials like he does. he made 2 incredible 3 pointers to win the game for Davidson 73-67. i have no clue if Dayton will make the tournament when the names get called on Sunday. i'd like to feel confident, but it's usually the schools that don't have football programs that get fucked over. of course, if Dayton doesn't make it to the tournament, they can only blame themselves. what a way to ruin a fucking weekend.

the New York Rangers lost last night, 4-3 to Carolina. the Rangers scored 3 power play goals and still managed to find a way to lose. of course, the officials played a huge role in the loss as well.
the Rangers next play at Detroit on Sunday night.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

The Big Bang Theory was pretty funny last night.

Life in Pieces was fucking hilarious last night.

Baskets was great last night. i'm really happy the show will be coming back for a 3rd season.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be VICE, NJPW and Perfect in '76.

when i went outside yesterday it was nearly 60 degrees. this morning when i went out to get the paper, it felt like it was in the teens. thank god we didn't get any fucking snow like they said we were going to. now, i just hope we don't get any at the beginning of next week as i really don't want to be driving in the snow to the basketball games.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. mine is going to fucking suck until i hear a certain team get selected on Sunday evening. then, it might start to be a little better. maybe.

the all important away goal

i wasn't exactly thrilled when Manchester United got scored on in the second half today. but, given that the game ended 1-1 in Europa League action today... that away goal will be a big one. as long as United takes care of business at home next Thursday, they will advance to last 8 of the Europa League. the field today was fucking atrocious, but it was Russia, so i figured it would be even worse. i'm just happy they got out of there with something and hopefully no fucking injuries. United's next game will be on Monday against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

i did listen to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast late last night. i highly recommend listening to the interview with AJ Styles. you can find the podcast by going here:

NXT was really good last night. the crowd was dead for most of the matches sadly, but it was good to see Shinsuke Nakamura wrestle again.

i got some great FREE music on NoiseTrade last night. i'll post the links below in the music section.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces and Baskets.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Carolina. i see the injury bug has struck again... hopefully they can keep the winning streak going.

i'll be on here tomorrow after the Dayton Flyers play against Davidson. hopefully the game isn't an OT thriller like the last game against Davidson.

it's hard to believe it's been 20 damn years since this man died...

that's all for me today kids. hopefully i will be in a good mood tomorrow when i'm writing this.

a windy day in hell

i just love when the wind is so damn bad it blows shit right out of the grocery cart. and people wonder why i for years said that i was simply a court jester to god.

at least it now looks like the weekend snow storm is going to be south of us. that's good.

i sent out 15 poems today; 5 each to Big Hammer, Easy Street and Synchronized Chaos. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

after mailing the poems to Big Hammer, i did the grocery shopping. it felt like it took forever, but that was most likely just my arthritis fucking with me. at least the sun was out today. i got everything on the list and kept it all under $110. that's pretty damn good considering mom wanted me to get a $25 gift card so we would get extra fuel points.

Smackdown was excellent last night. i am really enjoying The Miz destroying John Cena these past few weeks. of course, Cena will get the last laugh, because he always does. everything is trending to what should be an absolutely amazing WrestleMania.

205 Live last night was really good, mostly because of Austin Aries.

there was only one performance on The Voice last night that i really enjoyed.

the New York Rangers won last night in Florida 5-2. it was The King's 404th NHL win, putting him in 10th place by himself on the wins list. the best road team in the league plays again tomorrow at Carolina.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight. i'll watch NXT sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the tickets mom sold yesterday made it to Washington, D.C. this afternoon. so, she should be getting her check for selling them in the next week or so. i know that's a ton of stress off of her now. she couldn't believe she actually did what i said she did and bought two different sets of tickets. of course, i'm the asshole in all this for telling her about it.

i will be on here sometime tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the Europa League. they are already bitching about the playing surface in Russia, so i have serious concerns about United in this game.

i think i'm going to curl up into bed now and listen to the wind howl.

sometimes you just get used to the pain...

i woke up this morning to the sound of rain pounding the roof. i was hoping that i was going to be able to fall back asleep, but no such luck today.

i did listen to the latest Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Podcast this morning. you can laugh your ass off by going here: https://soundcloud.com/jimandsamshow/ep-016-remy-ma-diss-track

i really enjoyed some of the performances on The Voice last night.

Monday Night Raw was pretty damn good last night. i liked the job they did setting up Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens at WrestleMania. i also enjoyed Austin Aries getting the better of Neville. and i really enjoyed the show ending with The Undertaker giving Roman Reigns a chokeslam.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, WWE Smackdown and The Voice. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Rangers won last night in OT 1-0 over Tampa Bay. it's amazing how much better they play on the road. they play again tonight at Florida. let's see if they can make it two wins in a row.

mom sold her tickets to the First Four today. she got the email this afternoon that said to print out the shipping label and go to the UPS store. of course, the shipping label that printed out said FedEx on it. so, after a little running around, the tickets are in the mail. hopefully by tomorrow night she'll know they arrived in Washington, D.C.

the rain finally ended here. now the wind is kicking up. of course it is, it's the night we set the trash out. they are saying we might have a huge winter storm this weekend. that should make the grocery store a ton of fun in the next couple of days.

i did a little poetry work earlier this afternoon. i'll probably be sending out 15 poems in the next day or so.

the trash is all picked up so i'm all done folks.

just another rainy Monday...

if i ever happen to end up with some fuck you money before i die, i'm definitely going to live someplace where it rarely fucking rains. either that or have enough money that i can be cured of having arthritis. i know, what's the point of dreaming anymore...

the first half of WWE Fastlane last night nearly put me to sleep. thankfully, the match between Neville and Jack Gallagher was fucking amazing and turned the show around for me. when it got time for the main event and there was only a couple minutes left before 11, i knew Goldberg was going to beat Kevin Owens. i just wanted them to be creative with it. having Chris Jericho come out will definitely set up the match that will steal the show at WrestleMania... Jericho vs. Owens. plus, now the match between Goldberg and Lesnar will be for the Universal title. things should become pretty evident tonight on Monday Night Raw.

Big Little Lies was excellent last night. i love the slow burn of the show so far.

Girls was pretty good once again last night. nice shocking ending as well.

Crashing was pretty funny last night.

Last Week Tonight was excellent last night.

Homeland was fucking amazing last night. when i put two and two together, i wasn't surprised.

Billions was also very good last night.

Feud: Bette & Joan was excellent last night. i think i'm really going to enjoy this show.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Voice. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.

the New York Rangers play tonight in Tampa. it would be nice to see them get back to winning.

i saw that Manchester United's season just hit a tough fucking road bump...
a 3 game ban could either be what keeps them out of winning the FA Cup and finishing in the top 4 or maybe just brings the team closer together. or perhaps i'm just fucking dreaming that something good could come from this at all.

you could see it coming from miles away...

there's a reason i said that for Dayton, playing at George Washington is like walking into a house of horrors. the Flyers haven't won there since 2009. and sure enough, coming off of a very emotional win over VCU, Dayton was incredibly flat to start the game last night. i believe at one point, GW had made 9 or 10 shots in a row to start the game and Dayton had only 1 field goal. i think the lead got up to 19 a few times. as usual, Dayton fought back, but anyone who has watched Dayton play over the last 20 years knew what was going to happen. sometimes they just dig too big of a fucking hole to climb out of. last night was one of those nights. Dayton lost 87-81. they are still the #1 seed in the A10 tournament, so hopefully they can take care of business in that. they will play the winner of La Salle vs. Davidson on March 10th for their first game in the tournament.

the Dayton women's team won the A10 tournament earlier today by beating Duquesne 70-56. the women won the regular season and the conference tournament. hopefully the men can do the same.

the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them last night by Montreal. the Rangers didn't come close to answering the physical nature that Montreal played with. and that's an easy way to piss me the fuck off. it was embarrassing to watch at times. the Rangers lost 4-1. they play tomorrow night in Tampa Bay, the start of a road trip. thank god they play better on the road.

Saturday Night Live was pretty fucking funny last night. that's the good thing when you have a dumb fuck as president, the comedy writes itself.

ROH was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Little Lies, Girls, Crashing, Last Week Tonight, Homeland, Billions and Feud: Bette & Joan.

i will be watching WWE Fastlane for most of the evening on WWE Network.

hello frustration...

i got up early this morning for what i was hoping was going to be a pretty easy Manchester United win. as you might imagine from the title of the blog today, that didn't fucking happen. United pissed away chance after chance and an entire second half playing against a 10 men side and could only manage a 1-1 draw. now, if they were playing someone near the top of the league, i could stomach it. but, playing against a Bournemouth side that previously than today had never even scored a goal at Old Trafford, it's beyond frustrating. what makes it worse, it was United's best player this season that had his worst performance of the season today. Zlatan was awful today. and i'm sure he's going to get a nice long ban for the elbow to the head. that being said, i do hope the guy that stepped on his head gets a ban as well, as i believe that's why the elbow happened in the first place. yet another draw at home. so many fucking points dropped against teams that it should never happen against. it's days like these that make making the top 4 seem just like a fucking illusion.

Vice was pretty interesting last night. thank god i decided early on to never have children.

NJPW was really good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was very good last night as well.

the New York Rangers play tonight at home against Montreal. this is a potential playoff matchup for the Rangers, so i'd love to see them win tonight.

the joys of being creative

i wrote my first poems of March today. 5 poems that came from nowhere really. i saw a woman at the doctor's office wearing some boots this morning that sent my imagination racing and as soon as i got back home... 5 poems that, after typing them up, are really fucking good. that made me extremely happy as i really haven't liked much i have written in the last week or so.

mom's doctor's appointment went pretty good. i'm hoping the doctor correctly diagnosed what's going on with her. i have to go to the grocery store again after i get done with this to pick up more pills. sometimes i think the two of us are keeping the entire healthcare system afloat.

the New York Rangers stole a game last night in Boston. they were outplayed for most of the game but The King was awesome on his 35th birthday and the Rangers won 2-1. the win moved Henrik Lundqvist into a tie for 10th place all-time in goalie wins. the boys play tomorrow night at home against Montreal.

i enjoyed a couple of the performances last night on The Voice.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Baskets was absolutely great last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice, NJPW and Real Time with Bill Maher.

i will be on here probably in the afternoon tomorrow, hopefully sipping on some alcohol after enjoying a Manchester United victory in the morning.

one of those nights you never will forget

when i finally got to UD Arena last night and saw the students half way around the building, i had a good feeling. the whole place was packed nearly 30 minutes before the game even started. the ceremony for the seniors was really good. and with the energy in the building, i really had a feeling that VCU had no chance. Dayton had the lead the entire game, even though things got a little scary in the second half. that was when the refs forgot that you were allowed to call fouls on VCU. the game took forever as there was close to 50 free throws in the game. but, Dayton won 79-72. the win clinches the A10 regular season title outright and gives Dayton the #1 seed in the conference tournament. it was a fucking joy to watch the guys celebrate with the students and then cut the net down. i love that the coach got tired of waiting for 3 of the seniors who were busy taking pictures, so he cut the rest of the net down himself. hilarious shit. the boys next play at George Washington on Saturday. it would be nice if they could exercise some of the demons in that building and take a 10 game winning streak into the A10 tournament.

it was well after 11 when i got home last night. i found out the 24 hour McDonald's in town is no longer open 24 hours.

NXT was really good last night.

the New York Rangers are playing tonight in Boston. i wouldn't mind if they would actually find a way to win tonight.

i had to take mom to get some blood drawn today for her doctor's appointment tomorrow. it took almost 2 hours for it to get done. mind you, the actual act of drawing the blood took about 3 minutes. the rest of the time was sitting around and waiting.

i went to the bank and the grocery store today. what i thought was a trip just to get bread and bananas turned into a well, fuck it, let me just do all the fucking shopping now. i managed to keep it under $70, so i was happy.

in like a lion...

i didn't sleep much last night. i guess it was the tornado watch. at least i got up early enough to get the damn trash out before they picked it up.

there was a couple performances i really enjoyed on The Voice last night.

Smackdown was great last night. it was light years better than Monday Night Raw this week.

205 Live was pretty good as well.

the season finale of Taboo was excellent. i really hope there will be a season 2.

the New York Rangers lost last night to Washington 4-1. the damn injury bug is hitting the team at exactly the wrong time.

enjoy some music:

i will be at the Dayton Flyers game tonight. it's senior night and Dayton has a chance to clinch the A10 title outright with a victory over VCU. it's a sellout and should be LOWD as hell tonight. hopefully i come home with no voice.

that's all for me today kids. i've got shit to do and a shower to take before i leave for the game tonight.
