before i get to the Ohio State ass whipping last night, a little poetry news.
i sent out 29 poems today. 3 each to Yellow Mama, Terror House Magazine and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash, Synchronized Chaos (already accepted for publication), The Ramingo's Porch and Misfit Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdict.
so, when Ohio State had to settle for a field goal last night in the second quarter, i feared the worst. it was painfully obvious that even if the defense was at full strength, they couldn't keep the speed of Alabama from killing them. and sure enough, i turned the damn game off before halftime. i might have watched 3 or 4 minutes of the second half. and i have watched enough football in my life to know that Alabama was good enough that there would be no what ifs... even allowed in the game. now, it sucked that Ohio State lost their running back on the first play of the game. but, i did like what Ryan Day told his team. no one is going to feel sorry for you. there's a coach that keeps it real all the time. so, hats off to Alabama for winning the national championship. they earned it and they deserve it. Alabama won 52-24.
Monday Night Raw was a little crazy last night. Drew McIntyre tested positive for Covid, so that made everything even crazier than usual. now, i did enjoy the end of the show, which was even more fucking nuts. but, when you have Alexa Bliss shooting fire and blinding Randy Orton... i'm in.

i did watch the Manchester United game this afternoon at Burnley. if United got anything out of the game, they would go top of the league for the first time after the new year in 8 fucking years. thanks to a brilliant strike from Paul Pogba, United won 1-0. they are now 3 points ahead of Liverpool, who they happen to play this weekend. that alcohol is going to taste so damn good tonight.

i heard back from Cristina at Synchronized Chaos on my poetry submission from earlier today. my poems "the 2020 election", "raven haired beauty", "some kind of loss or relief", "unless provoked" and "a difference of opinion" were accepted for publication for the February 2021 issue.
i will be locked in with 100% of my everything to the Ohio State vs. Alabama game tonight. i truly fucking hope Ohio State pulls off this upset and wins the national championship.
the New Orleans Saints defeated the Bears yesterday, 21-9. they will now play Tampa Bay for the 3rd time this season.

i did get my baseball cards i ordered from Repacked Wax today. i loved the 1965 Topps card that was in it. i guess the best cards i got were the Larry Walker rookie card and the Craig Biggio rookie card. now, i need to get my ass in gear and start getting pictures up of the cards i want to sell here soon.

i took a shower this morning, mostly because my back was killing me. this isn't exactly how i was hoping 2021 would start for me.
Manchester United won yesterday 1-0. they should have scored more, but i'll gladly take the victory and moving on in the FA Cup.
i did watch a good portion of all 3 NFL playoff games yesterday. nothing really surprised me.
The King of Staten Island was pretty funny last night.
Austin City Limits was a best of episode of the two times the Foo Fighters had been on the show.

so, i was hoping the package i was expecting to get today was going to be in the mail this morning. of course, it wasn't. it's supposed to be here by 9 PM tonight. i'm guessing i'll actually get it on Monday knowing the post office in this town.
the Dayton Flyers are driving me nuts this year. they defeated Davidson last night, 89-78 in OT. that being said, the game never should have got to overtime. if you are up 3 with 12 seconds to go and have fouls to give, you have to fucking foul. instead, Dayton let them tie the game and send it to overtime. for all the NBA experience Anthony Grant has, he couldn't coach himself out of a fucking paper bag. thankfully, Jalen Crutcher showed up last night and scored a career high 29 points. i did like that they went small yesterday. the offense has more flow when they do that.
Smackdown and 205 Live were both really good last night.
last night was Alex Trebek's last episode of Jeopardy!. it was a fitting send off to be honest and i am glad i recorded it. hopefully, it will stay on my DVR forever.

i did get 3 of my 4 prescriptions today. the other one won't be done until Monday. before i got those, i went to the Rite-Aid near the grocery store i go to for my pills. i got 2 Fairfield boxes there for less than $8. out of both, i probably got close to $25 worth of cards. that lifted the spirits a bit.

watching this crowd of dumb fucks crash the capitol building today was like watching Senior Day at high school but there was more drugs and alcohol involved. i would love if the protestors that left the bombs or took pictures at the podiums, etc. i fucking would love if they all get arrested and charged with crimes. and i am fucking happier than shit that one of them got shot and died. this is what happens with a cult you dumb fucks.
so, last night i witnessed a team i have loved since birth lose to a team of fucking clowns for the first time in 15 years. Dayton lost to Fordham, 55-54. this is a team that plays down to its competition and has a coach unwilling to coach it out of them. you can tell this team misses Obi so damn much and is fucking unwilling to give two shits about figuring out how to win without him. they play at Davidson on Friday. i wouldn't be shocked if Davidson hands them their asses on national television.
thankfully, the USA vs. Canada game went much better. the USA defeated Canada 2-0 to win the gold at the world juniors. it's always nice to see Canadian tears on Canadian soil when the USA wins.
i took a shower last night and i guess i got the water a little too hot. i have a tendency of passing out when that happens. of course, as i have gotten older, it usually results in me having to take a shit. good times.

the USA blew a 3-1 lead in the 3rd period last night against Finland at the World Juniors. thankfully, the USA scored the winning goal with 76 seconds left in the game to win 4-3. that sets up a massive gold medal game tonight against Canada, who defeated Russia, 5-0.
Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night, right up until the last minute or so. there is no one on this fucking earth (other than maybe Vince McMahon) that wants to see Goldberg ever wrestle again. let alone for the title against Drew McIntyre.

the sun came out today. that lifted my mood a great deal. i went to the bank and made a deposit. after that, i headed down to Big Lots to see if they had any baseball cards. i did buy some 2020 Topps Heritage while i was there. i also watched a fun little argument between this older black woman and an employee at the store. i was pleasantly surprised at the number of times motherfucker was used in the argument. i did get some pretty decent cards today. nothing crazy, but it was close to being worth what i paid..
the New Orleans Saints won yesterday at Carolina, 33-7. the defense had 5 interceptions yesterday. the offense managed to be pretty balanced, even with all the regular running backs out. they will play next Sunday at home against the Bears in the first round of the playoffs.
the season finale of Power Book II: Ghost was fucking crazy last night. loved it.

the Dayton Flyers defeated George Mason yesterday, 74-65. Jalen Crutcher got his career high yesterday in points. amazingly, Dayton had another player out because of injury, Rodney Chatman. thankfully, Mustapha Amzil looks like he is the real deal. he and Crutcher had about half of Dayton's points yesterday. they next play at Fordham, virus permitting.
the USA defeated Slovakia 5-2 last night at the World Juniors. the semi-finals are now set. Canada will play Russia and the USA will play Finland on Monday night.

Ohio State took Clemson out behind the barn last night, and got all of the revenge any of us ever needed. Ohio State defeated Clemson, 49-28. Ryan Day is the first Ohio State coach EVER to defeat Clemson. now, Ohio State will play Alabama for the national championship.

the rain started last night as ice. it changed over to pouring rain this morning and now is going to change over to snow. fuck me.
the USA vs. Sweden game last night couldn't have gone better for the USA even in my wildest dreams. the USA scored 69 seconds into the game and eventually won 4-0. that's the first time the USA has ever had 3 straight shutouts at the World Juniors. Spencer Knight became the first USA goalie to EVER have back to back shutouts. the USA won the group and will now play Slovakia tomorrow night. if they win that, they play the winner of Sweden vs. Finland in the semi-finals.
at least i got to have some alcohol while watching the ball drop last night. i watched CNN for the most part last night during the commercials and intermissions of the hockey game.
