so, i was sitting in the waiting area while mom was getting the injection for her back. i felt some gas coming on and knew it wasn't going to be one of those farts where you can get away with in public. i started to think about baseball or whatever to not concentrate on the building pressure. mom got done and i got her into the Highlander and thought i was doing pretty good. i had to shift a few times while i was driving. she wanted a Frozen Coke from McDonald's so i went there. thankfully, there was no line. 5 minutes later i was pulling into the driveway. now, i have learned over the years to not panic and rush in these situations. take your time and rush when it is is necessary. i made it to the toilet after i put mom's rollator away in the garage. thankfully, it all made it into the toilet. holy fuck. i'm surprised i didn't break the fucking thing. 20 minutes later, i was taking a nap. what a day.
Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace today 3-0 in the Carabao Cup. that was a pleasure to watch. what a change. the teams will play again on Saturday in the Premier League.
the Yankees won yesterday against Arizona, 6-4. that was the final home game of the season. they start a series tonight at Toronto. they need to win 3 of the last 6 to finish over .500 for the 31st season in a row.
The Voice was really good last night.

the rain started last night as ice. it changed over to pouring rain this morning and now is going to change over to snow. fuck me.
the USA vs. Sweden game last night couldn't have gone better for the USA even in my wildest dreams. the USA scored 69 seconds into the game and eventually won 4-0. that's the first time the USA has ever had 3 straight shutouts at the World Juniors. Spencer Knight became the first USA goalie to EVER have back to back shutouts. the USA won the group and will now play Slovakia tomorrow night. if they win that, they play the winner of Sweden vs. Finland in the semi-finals.
at least i got to have some alcohol while watching the ball drop last night. i watched CNN for the most part last night during the commercials and intermissions of the hockey game.

Manchester United plays later this afternoon against Aston Villa. a victory will pull them even with Liverpool atop of the Premier League.
Ohio State plays tonight against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl. i'm going to laugh my ass off if Ohio State wins tonight. winner will play the winner of Alabama and Notre Dame for the national championship.
so, like most new year's days, i'll watch plenty of college football. no hockey this year, but hopefully that will change as the world slowly gets back to whatever the fuck normal is.
i hope everyone is doing well and is healthy on this first day of 2021.

i knew i was going to miss some of the Manchester United game today because of needing to go grocery shopping. add in some rain, my bad back deciding today was going to be one of those days, and you can imagine the joy i was having. i saw maybe 3 minutes of the end of the game. i wasn't happy at all given that United drew with West Ham, 1-1. that one point though, coupled with Liverpool beating Chelsea 5-3, puts United in 3rd place on goal differential. United plays at Leicester on Sunday. they are in 5th now and need something out of the game to get in the Champions League. my dream scenario is somehow United and Leicester get in and Chelsea has to go play in the Europa League next season. of course, i wouldn't mind if United went full heel on Sunday and got the win and all 3 points. Chelsea play Wolves on Sunday. Wolves will need the game to guarantee games in the Europa League next season.
the grocery store was fucking crazy today. i was miserable from the pain and i had a hundred fucking things to buy it seemed. amazingly, i found everything. prices have gone up again, so keeping it under $100 was impossible today.
Deadliest Catch was a tad heartbreaking last night.
Dirty Jobs was pretty funny last night.
i did watch some of the Columbus Crew last night. they defeated Atlanta 1-0. i think the Crew are easily the biggest surprise of the MLS games so far. that is, of course, unless FC Cincinnati gets another stunner tonight and somehow advances in this tournament.

i couldn't find a comfortable spot last night as my right shoulder decided to declare war on the rest of my body. that was fun. i think i just tossed and turned for five hours. joy. and in the grocery store today, it was like my right arm decided it had a mind for itself as the nerves and my arthritis were going fucking nuts. thankfully, i'm used to be being the weird one out in public, so people looking at me doesn't bother me.
the New York Yankees lost last night, 8-3. hard to win when you have more errors than runs. i fully expect the Yankees season to end tonight, if it does, it will be the first decade since the 1910's that the Yankees haven't made it to a World Series. oh well. i do feel bad for CC though. that was hard to watch last night.
