so, mom's appointment at the heart doctor went well yesterday. her blood pressure was really good. i was pleased with the doctor, since he took it while she was sitting down as well as standing up. she doesn't have to go back to see him for 9 months.
after the appointment and mom's trip to McDonald's for her frozen coke, we went home. i turned on the Yankees game, hoping for the best. when the Yankees went up 3-1, i was really hoping they would win. of course, Aaron Boone's insistence on using the wrong pitchers at the wrong time made damn sure they wouldn't hold the lead. right after they scored the 3 runs to take the lead, they gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the inning and lost, 4-3. i know one thing for sure, i don't want to see the Mariners in the playoffs. the Yankees are off tonight and start a series tomorrow in Boston.
AEW Dynamite was excellent last night.
Big Brother was good last night. Daniel will be evicted tonight.
the MLS All Star game was good last night. the MLS defeated Liga MX 2-1.
enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be Big Brother, NJPW and the finale of The Captain. i'll watch NXT UK sometime this afternoon on Peacock.
team USA plays Switzerland tonight at the World Juniors. that should be a good game.
i have to take mom to the eye doctor today. our old eye doctor retired, so i'll be interested to see who the new guy is.
i need to go to Rite Aid to get my prescription. i'll do that before i take her to the eye doctor.
i might send the poems out today. if i do, that will happen when i get back home late this afternoon.
i'm not really sure when i will be on here tomorrow.
at least it feels like the humidity has finally broke here.

the Yankees pissed me off so damn much last night, i ended up writing 4 poems. of course, that also meant, i didn't get to sleep until 5 in the morning. so yeah, everything is running behind today. good times.
the Yankees lost to Seattle last night, 1-0, in 13 innings. the horrific baserunning the Yankees had in extra innings might have set baseball back 50 fucking years. just fucking awful. and given the number of times their bullpen saved them, you can say that shitty baserunning cost them the game. they will go for the series win this afternoon, but i'm not holding my breath.
the USA world juniors team defeated Germany last night, 5-1. they outshot Germany 50-11.
NXT was really good last night.
Deadliest Catch was good last night.
What We Do in the Shadows was fucking hilarious last night.
Hard Knocks was really good last night.

mom has an appointment this afternoon at her heart doctor.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.
if i get a wild hair up my ass, i might send the poems out today. if not, i'll be sending out some submissions before the weekend.
i got a few hours of sleep in my bed last night and then of course, my back started to ache like a motherfucker. after that, i got close to 3 hours of sleep in my massage chair with ice on my back.
i believe the MLS All Star game is tonight. i might watch some of that.
i need to get some things done before i take mom to her appointment, so that's all for me kids.

i decided to just do all the grocery shopping today. the time for mom's appointment tomorrow was later than i thought she wrote down, so it made more sense to just get it done today. hopefully, i'll get the blog done tomorrow before her appointment, more on that in a bit.
so, i had a thought last night while doing the dishes at 2:30 in the morning. i remember a conversation i had with a homeless man years ago while sharing a bottle of hooch in a brown paper bag. he said the one thing people hate more when you're talking about them is when you're not. that made me chuckle last night when thinking about the one i'm not supposed to talk about in this blog. and i'm sure at this point, i'm supposed to make some funny statement or something, but i'm not going to. i have plenty i will say one day. probably not soon. but, who knows. even better, who cares.
the Yankees won last night in Seattle, 9-4. of course, it came with a price. Matt Carpenter broke his foot last night. i'm not going to be shocked if he ends up missing the rest of the season. hopefully, they will win again tonight, even though i really doubt they do. they haven't proven they can hit Luis Castillo at all this season.
Monday Night Raw was really good last night.
Industry was great last night.
Don't Forget the Lyrics was pretty good last night.
enjoy some music:

the World Juniors tournament starts back up today. it normally happens right after Christmas but COVID but an end to that this year. team USA plays Germany tonight. i'll watch some of that for sure.
i'm going to try to be on here in the morning tomorrow. mom's appointment at the heart doctor is in the afternoon. and considering the Yankees play a day game tomorrow, the morning is the best time for it.

i heard back from Cristina at Synchronized Chaos on my recent poetry submission. my poems "a purple sadness", "on these rainy days", "i called his bluff", "relaxes with a cold drink" and "dead relatives" have been accepted for publication.
so, i guess the person i am not supposed to talk about has someone reading this blog for her and telling her what is in it. i'm not sure that's the best use of fuck you money, but that's just my opinion. my mother and i got into it yesterday as she accused me of not allowing her to have any friends. that truly made me laugh. my mother has no friends because she dedicated her life to work and nothing else. that is why retirement has been so fucking hard for her since she doesn't understand the concept of hobbies. so, i offered to simply remove myself from the situation completely and she can see how it would go for her then. i believe she saw the absurdity to all of this and dropped the conversation completely. of course, i brought this up because it was after a hour conversation she had with the person i'm not supposed to talk about. so yeah. that was how may day was going yesterday as i was watching the Yankees lose yet again. just fucking great.
this made me feel old as fuck today:
and since i love history, this one hit me pretty hard today:
the Yankees lost to the Cardinals yesterday, 12-9. they left a small village on base and the pitching yesterday just fucking sucked. of course, the home plate umpire fucking sucked yesterday as well. when he took a foul ball right to the mask the first word that exited my mouth was karma. that's 5 losses in a row for the Yankees. they start a series tonight in Seattle. they might want to start playing better RIGHT NOW.
Westworld was fucking great last night. the season finale is next week.
Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.
VICE was very good last night.
The Chi was excellent last night.
City on a Hill was good last night.
Flatbush Misdemeanors was pretty funny last night.
Big Brother was good last night.

so, i got up this morning, made some breakfast for myself and was all ready for the Manchester United game. sadly, i don't think many of the players were. United lost to Brighton, 2-1. not exactly how i was hoping for the ETH era to begin. of course, i was thinking that the ownership and the board was going to be all in on just how much the club needed to change. silly me. hopefully, the board saw today that they still need tons of improvement in all areas of the club. and if they don't get it done in this transfer window, it is going to be a long ass season.
the Yankees lost last night to the Cardinals, 1-0. hard to win when all you get is two fucking singles for the entire fucking game. hopefully, they will end this fucking losing streak this afternoon.
AEW Battle of the Belts 3 was really good last night.
Jackass Forever was fucking hilarious last night.

i just sent out 13 poems. 3 to The Beatnik Cowboy and 5 each to Synchronized Chaos and Horror Sleaze Trash. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.
today was definitely the air you can wear right from the start. i actually slept the night in my own bed. that was the first time in a month my back was actually good enough that i didn't need ice and my massage chair at some point. hopefully, i can keep that up for more than just a few days.
the person i'm not allowed to speak of was down here for 2 hours today. it was no surprise to me that my mother's blood pressure was going nuts after she left.
the Yankees pissed away a lead last night at St. Louis and lost, 4-3. they have to face their former teammate tonight. i really hope they end this fucking losing streak tonight.
Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both really good last night.
AEW Rampage was excellent last night.
Real Time with Bill Maher was hilarious last night.
i have watched plenty of soccer today. will probably watch plenty tomorrow as well, especially with Manchester United playing in the morning.
i should be on here tomorrow after the United game and before the Yankees play in the afternoon.

i actually got some sleep in my own bed last night. it was only two hours, but that is the most i have had in my bed in weeks. i got 3 hours in my massage chair, so i at least felt like i was with it today. of course, my arthritis decided i was going to have to pay for that.
Vice News Tonight had two really good episodes this week.
both episodes of The Captain last night were good. next week is the finale.
Big Brother was good last night. Nicole was evicted, although it wasn't quite the blindside i was hoping for. Michael is the new HOH.
NJPW was really good last night.

i did watch a little of the Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace match today as the Premier League started back up. Manchester United plays on Sunday.
i need to do some writing either tonight or tomorrow morning. like really knock out a good 5 to 10 poems. i believe someone i'm not supposed to talk about is coming down here tomorrow. so, i'll be in my room anyway.

the grocery shopping went pretty well yesterday, other than it being hotter than shit. i did get everything on the list and had all the shopping done by 3 PM. of course, i saw the Yankees score while i was shopping. if it would have been better, i would have got the shopping done sooner. but since Gerrit Cole shit the bed, i took my sweet ass time.
the Yankees were down 6-0 before the first inning was over. i knew with Castillo pitching for Seattle, the game was essentially over. and it was. the Yankees lost, 7-3. they are off tonight and start a series in St. Louis tomorrow night.
Big Brother was good last night. i get the feeling there will be another blindside coming tonight and Nicole will be evicted.
AEW was excellent last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Big Brother, NJPW and two episodes of The Captain. i did watch NXT UK this afternoon on Peacock. it was really good.
so, mom's doctor's appointment went well today. they are going to try to change her meds a little and see if that helps to keep her from falling. the doctor also wrote a prescription for a bed alarm. that should be interesting.
i about shit my pants last night when i was going through my emails and saw that Fed Ex delivered a package to the house at 5PM. i went to the front door to look for it 8 hours later. amazingly, it was on the table by the front door. it was the box of Bowman 2022 cards i ordered. i paid $30 for the box and there was something like around $100 worth of cards in it. the box of 2022 Topps Series 2 should be here by the weekend.
i probably won't watch much of the NFL game on tonight between the Jaguars and Raiders.

after the game, i heard about the death of Vin Scully. that is a voice that still rings in my head from watching many baseball and football games in my youth.

it wasn't the heat today, it was the fucking humidity. when i got back from the bank and Rite Aid, mom told me it looked like i was sweating. no shit sherlock. by the way, she didn't have physical therapy today. she was discharged from it as she hasn't seen a doctor since her last fall. her therapist doesn't want to see her until she has seen the doctor. i think the earliest appointment she could get was a month from now. good times.
today is the trade deadline in the MLB. i am thrilled that the Yankees traded Joey Gallo away. he is going to the Dodgers for a AA pitcher. plus, the Dodgers are taking all the money left on his contract, so that saved the Yankees 3.7 million.
the biggest trade of the day was the Padres getting Juan Soto.
i'm expecting a ton of moves right before the deadline at 6 PM.
so, i did make it to the bank today. the line was much longer than i was expecting, but i do know in these hot ass days, my patience is a good thing. after that, i went to Rite Aid. i was able to get everything i was looking for.
so the Yankees just traded Jordan Montgomery to the Cardinals for an injured outfielder. that one is a head scratcher for me as i know Harrison Bader is a wonderful defender in centerfield, but i have no clue when he will be healthy enough to play.
Monday Night Raw was excellent last night. HHH running things has been a breath of fresh fucking air.

just as i was finishing up the blog yesterday, the news broke about the death of Bill Russell. now, as a basketball fan and as someone who tries to champion human rights as much as i can, i was always aware of Bill Russell. any of you too young to know much about him, do yourself a favor and learn everything you can about the man.
and then later in the day, i saw the news about the death of Nichelle Nichols. the inner geek in me was crushed by this one. i have always found black women to be beautiful and she was one of the first ones to really light my imagination.
the Yankees bullpen pissed away a win yesterday. they lost to the Royals, 8-6. in response to that, the Yankees GM made two fantastic trades today to sure up the bullpen and add a top of the rotation arm as well. i think they will make a few minor trades before the deadline tomorrow, but they are fully equipped to go win the World Series now.

mom had some cleaning ladies out here today. i wasn't that impressed with what they did, mostly because i'm not a fan of cleaning and then forgetting where everything was to begin with. she also had a guy out here doing the measurements for the bathroom remodel. i get the feeling i'm going to have to make the decisions on everything as she procrastinates about all of this shit. good times.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.
i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to the bank and Rite Aid. i'm hoping to get all that and the blog done before mom has physical therapy in the afternoon.
