i heard back from the good folks at Dumpster Fire Press on my poetry submission. my poems "so much to live for", "from the outside", "could have been karma", "all the sad kisses in the rain" and "that kinky journey" have been accepted for publication.
a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

not the news i wanted to start the day off with...
as a sports fan, there is some news that just hits you like a ton of bricks. and this morning, the bricks hit really hard. Sir Bobby Charlton has died. 86 years old. just 10 days after his birthday. if you don't know who he is, please do a little reading and realize what an amazing life Sir Bobby had.
poetry update...
i just sent out 18 poems, 3 to Cajun Mutt Press; 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash, Synchronized Chaos and Dumpster Fire Press. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

clusterfuck 101
so, i got mom to the hospital where she was having her scan today. we went to where she was to check in and they told her that none of the scans are happening today since the machine is down. mom wanted to know if they tried calling her to tell her this before we drove 20 minutes to the facility. mom doesn't ride well anymore no matter how short the drive is. the lady couldn't tell us as she didn't know. she told us to call central scheduling to get it rescheduled. so, that was a fucking waste as i was hoping to write some more poems today and actually have a productive afternoon. we went back home and she got the appointment rescheduled for some day in November. i had some lunch and then i got a text from Rite Aid saying i had 2 prescriptions ready to pick up. so, i went there and got those 2 prescriptions. 20 minutes after i got back home, got another text from Rite Aid saying i had another prescription ready to pick up. fuck me. did they ever think it would be more efficient to just fucking wait until they were all ready to text me to come get them? so, i'll go get that one tomorrow sometime.
the grand plan for today was i was going to send out some poems, write 2 blogs and get ready for a Friday night. i guess the poems will go out later tonight as this clusterfuck of an afternoon has totally jumbled everything up. and honestly, i'm still pissed from last night.
the New Orleans Saints lost at home to Jacksonville last night, 31-24. the offense just fucking stinks in the red zone.

and now, the rain...
i swear, anytime i actually might get some sleep, there is something to ruin it. today, the lawn company that does our yard was out here at 9 AM. i could hear them in the back as the phone was ringing. fuck me. i'm pretty sure i got something close to 6 hours of sleep, which might as well be a fucking coma for me. but damn, i needed more and the rain this afternoon proved exactly why i needed more.
i did write 3 poems today while mom was in physical therapy. i typed them up when we got home. i really think i have some very good poems to send out soon.
AEW Dynamite was good last night.

sometimes the days just all bleed together...
i finally got to sleep last night at 6 AM this morning. between all the shows on Tuesday, doing the dishes and taking a shower. my brain finally decided to tap out at 6 in the morning. at roughly 10:55 the phone rang. that woke me up. now, sadly, i have been running on piss poor sleep in my life for easily the last 40 years. it is part of the reason why i believe i will be dead before i even sniff 60 years old. and knowing that i am 47, i know the ticks on the clock are getting louder. but, i did get all the grocery shopping done today. and i had to make yet another trip to Rite Aid. that story will be a doozy here in a bit. but first...
the USMNT defeated Ghana last night, 4-0. that's more like it boys.

i believe i still have it...
i know i often complain on here that writing poetry is like squeezing water out of a rock sometimes for me. but, on the days where talent just fucking flows, it can still be amazing. the three poems i wrote today i really, really like. now, the only way they become poems i love is when they are published somewhere. but, i have to admit, i have a really good feeling about these three.
the New York Rangers won last night at home against Arizona, 2-1. they play Nashville at home on Thursday.

plenty of doom and gloom...
i don't think the sun has come out at all today. one of those kind of gloomy autumn days that reminds you death is around every fucking corner anymore. good times.
the New Orleans Saints lost yesterday at Houston, 20-13. yet another one of those games where you can look back and realize, they should have won. they play this Thursday at home against Jacksonville.

hopefully it won't be a rainy day...
it rained on and off most of the day yesterday. i have found that if my mind is on something else, i can pretty much manage the pain of my arthritis. it is when i am in the moody, dreamy, mind all over the place moments where the pain becomes too much at times. so, with all the college football games on yesterday, it made it pretty simple to block out the pain.
Ohio State defeated Purdue yesterday, 41-7. they play Penn State next week.

woke up late, shoot me...
so, in the perfect world that i have never lived in, i would have been up around 6 this morning, already been done with breakfast and the blog and the trip to recycle the Styrofoam. but, here in reality, i didn't fall asleep until almost 4 last night. it was raining, so i wouldn't call it sleep, more like competitive tossing and turning. so, the big plan on going early to get the recycling done and then getting some breakfast did not happen. i'm currently trying to eat breakfast while doing this. the trip to the park where they were doing the recycling and back took over 50 minutes. i have the Ohio State game on in the living room since they are on Peacock today at Purdue. hopefully, they will win.
we saw a gnarly 3 vehicle accident on our way to the park. thankfully, it didn't slow us down much.
Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both really good last night.

welcome to the weekend...
so, i get the feeling this was probably the last good day of weather for a good bit... it did feel good outside. i got mom to her physical therapy appointment. she wanted to just sleep in the Highlander in the sun. i wrote 3 poems while she was doing her physical therapy. i typed those up when we got back home. i should have enough to get another submission out in the next few days.
the New York Rangers beat Buffalo last night, 5-1. i guess they were saving themselves for the regular season. hopefully, this is how they are going to play all season. first time i think they have played a full 60 minutes in a long time. next game is tomorrow night in Columbus.

if the weather could only be like this...
today was about as close to fucking perfect for the weather as it gets around here. mid 70's, hardly any humidity, a little breeze... of course, it is supposed to rain cats and dogs this weekend. joy.
so, when i got to Rite Aid last night the lady i talked to the day before recognized me. i told her it was for the testing strips and she found a box on the shelf and just took it, put my prescription sticker on it and there was no charge. crisis averted.
The Masked Singer was good last night.
response from Synchronized Chaos...
i heard back from Cristina at Synchronized Chaos on my poetry submission from a couple days ago. my poems "young lost men", "be one with your desire", "tennis", "still feels like fucking summer" and "a lost soul that looks like" have been accepted for publication.

managing constant pain...
it is becoming harder for me to manage the constant pain i have anymore. hell, it gets so bad that sometimes now my body will just shut off. i feel like i know what Jason Isbell meant now with the line about not falling asleep but fading to black. it becomes real tricky while grocery shopping. watching the elderly pass me because i can't move that fast anymore. good times.
i did get everything on the grocery list. and i'm still waiting on Rite Aid to text me. i figured if i started writing the blog they would text me in the middle of it to tell me the test strips are ready. but, if that doesn't happen, then the plan will be when i am done with this, i am going to Rite Aid and probably have to wait until god knows when for them to figure out what to do since i am out of the strips completely now.
NXT was excellent last night.
