i heard back from A.J. Huffman on my poetry to submission to Jellyfish Whispers back in July. my poem "reflection" has been accepted for publication. it will be published on August 19th.

she also informed me that my submission to Pyrokinection, sent on the dame day, has been rejected.

a busy morning

i got something resembling 5 hours of sleep last night. i haven't got my usual, you were out in the sun too long asshole, shits yet, so i have that to look forward to later today. i did manage to get the grass cut in a little under 4 hours. so, maybe i wasn't out in it too long. the clouds are getting dark right now. i made sure to get the cats fed before it rains.

i did type up the 5 poems i wrote yesterday waiting for my mother to get out of her MRI. i really like these. i will send them out in my next batch of submissions.

this morning i sent out 17 poems. 2 to BoySlut and 3 each to Jellyfish Whispers, Pink Litter, Dead Snakes, The Camel Saloon, and Pyrokinection. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

today is my father's birthday. i wasn't sure i should submit some poems today, given the horrific nature of this date. but, i figured i would roll the dice.

the Yankees came from behind again last night to win 6-4. amazingly, that is their 17th straight win at home against Toronto. they will hopefully extend that streak later this afternoon.

also today, Manchester United takes on Roma. that should be a good test for the new system the boys are playing. i'll be curious to see who LvG plays today.

tonight, i believe the UFC is on FOX. plus, ROH has a new episode. also, i think there is some boxing on. so, looks like it will be a night of combat sports.

i did watch the new episode of Treehouse Masters last night. if i EVER get some fuck you money in my life, i'm getting one of these tricked out treehouses. they are fucking amazing.

i did manage to finally catch up with all i missed on YouTube on Thursday and Friday. i think i'm getting too old to keep up with the digital age. i can just imagine how distracted i would be if i actually had a smartphone. not sure how much longer i can keep fighting that.

so far, i'm holding strong.

wow, my back just tightened up. there is definitely rain on the way.

well, with that, i'm cutting this short.

mom has been mentioning that we might go to the Celtic Festival later today. if that does happen, i'll be sure to take along a camera.

hope this finds everyone well. i do hope you enjoy your weekend. only fuck the ones that cough.

be creative. be amazing. be easy. be easy again. and again. and again...

peace and chicken grease...

so there's a few good ones left after all

i want to start this off with a big fat THANK YOU to Russell over at The Camel Saloon for recommending a poem i sent him would be better off at Jellyfish Whispers. i can probably count on one hand the number of editors/publishers that have done that for me before. whenever i'm near your neck of the woods, the first round is on me my friend.

not exactly sure what my feelings are about the Yankees signing Derek Lowe. it's bad enough that my mind won't let the 2004 epic collapse ever go away, but to see a member of that Red Sox team wearing pinstripes makes my stomach turn a little. of course, if he wins a championship here like Damon did, i'll get over it.

big home stand this week for the Yankees. get some timely wins over Texas and Boston and that should help put the AL East to bed. struggle this week and the last 6 weeks of the season will be nail biting time.

another rather cool day here. the weather this summer has been totally bizarre. and each day i drive down the lane to get the paper and mail i try not to look at the corn. just too fucking depressing.

hoping to have another writing session sometime this week. i feel like i have some good ones coming given all the shit going on in the world. let alone going on with people i know. i need one of those couple of hours where i bust out 10-15 gems and my fall will be looking good.

i did catch a little of the closing ceremony of the Olympics last night. hadn't seen Fat Boy Slim in quite some time. when he popped up my mind quickly thought back to my drug filled teens/20's. good times.

music today:

The Chemical Brothers - dig your own hole
Metallica - Beyond Magnetic
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing

feeling pretty good right about now

had an afternoon of watching team USA in women's water polo (you're right if you think i was just watching hoping for underwater bare breasts) win a gold medal, team USA in women's soccer get a little revenge on Japan and win gold 2-1 (thank you Carli Lloyd and Hope Solo) and then the Yankees overcome the weather and shitty umpires and get a split against the Tigers (thank god Eric Chavez has found the fountain of youth). not a bad way to spend a few hours.

started off this morning listening to episode #25 of The Sam Roberts Show Online. another great podcast and another mention of my name. go to http://notsam.com/podcast.html to check out the shows and help him out if you can.

i sent out 3 poems to Jellyfish Whispers at the request of Russell over at The Camel Saloon. hopefully his instincts are good and i have good news to report soon.

weather permitting (the only drawback of DIRECTV quite honestly) i'll be enjoying my usual Thursday night fare. hopefully Janelle gets evicted tonight on Big Brother and then FX continues to entertain the shit out of me with Wilfred and Louie.

and tomorrow will be a laundry day and if no one fucks up at my local post office, my shipment from amazon.com should be waiting for me. shaping up to be 2 good days in a row. holy fucking shit.

music today:

Tom Waits - Bad As Me
