i just sent out 10 poems; 5 each to Synchronized Chaos and Misfit Magazine. when i hear back from Cristina and Alan, i will pass along the verdicts.

one of those days i guess...
my grandmother would have been 111 years old today. i'm not sure what she would think of this world if she was still alive. i know she would probably still be smoking, looking out the kitchen window.
it did try to snow today. i know it is supposed to snow this weekend. maybe an inch or so, just enough to be a nuisance probably. this is why i never really bothered having birthday parties for the most part. never wanted to schedule something and then have people trying to get somewhere in shitty weather. good times.
the New York Rangers lost last night at home to Boston, 3-1.

another day dealing with pain...
so, when the rain hit today, it hit like a motherfucker. i laughed, as we were getting an Amazon package right as the shit was really hitting the fan. the driver came up to the house with a box over his head, trying to stay dry. i opened the door so he could hand me the package and i told him, i understand. by this time, the rain was going sideways. you know, your typical January weather. fuck me.
so, my arthritis has been having fun today.
i did hit up Rite Aid and Kroger this morning. i didn't sleep worth a fuck last night, so i was up before 7 and took a shower this morning. probably the first time i have taken a shower in the daytime in months. thankfully, i did find everything i was looking for today.
AEW Dynamite was excellent last night.
Name That Tune was pretty good last night.
the New York Knicks lost last night at home to Washington, 116-105.

reach for the sky
so, i was watching the Dayton Flyers game last night when i got the alert on my phone that Jay Briscoe had died. now, Jay was one of my favorite wrestlers of all-time. i didn't want to believe the news, but then i started getting alert after alert and knew, fuck, this is real. i started combing the internet to find out as much as i could. the one thing i noticed was all the amazing things other wrestlers had to say about Jay. and what it made me wonder was, did they all tell him this shit when he was alive? it really hit me last night, i don't want my fucking flowers after i'm dead. i have no fucking use for them when i'm dead. so, please, tell me what you want me to know while i'm alive. the horrific thing about the car accident Jay died in, is he was driving with his two young daughters in the back of his truck. thankfully, they have survived the accident. i really feel for Mark Briscoe, Jay's brother, as i can't fucking imagine the pain he is going through right now. thanks for all the years and absolutely amazing matches Jay. you will be missed but never forgotten. rest in peace.

at least the rain has ended...
so, i made a little money on the NFL playoff game last night. i would have made more, but that bum Mike Evans, as usual, couldn't catch a damn cold when he needed to. that dropped pass in the 4th quarter basically cost me $65. oh well. at least Tampa lost last night to Dallas, 31-14.

here comes the rain...
so, i guess it is going to warm up here the next few days, with plenty of rain. just great. my arthritis is going to be raging for days. great...
so, i didn't make much money yesterday gambling. i did make a little money on the Bengals and i had a NBA parlay bet come through. now, if i counted the almost winners, i would be feeling great today.
i did watch all 3 NFL playoff games yesterday. Buffalo beat Miami, 34-31. the Giants defeated the Vikings, 31-24. the Bengals beat Baltimore last night, 24-17.

the beauty of the playoffs...
i told my mother last night when Jacksonville scored before halftime, that if they score first in the second half, the Chargers will choke this game away. sure enough. Trevor Lawrence threw 4 INTs in the first half. he threw 4 TDs in the second half. Jacksonville won 31-30. the Chargers blew a 27 point lead. in the first game of the day, the 49ers defeated Seattle, 41-23. i made some money on both games, which made me happy. hopefully, i will make money on all 3 games today, Dolphins at Bills, Giants at Vikings and Ravens at Bengals.

a great start to a Saturday...
i couldn't find a comfortable position to sleep in last night, so it was a series of naps at best all night long. i knew Manchester United was playing this morning, so i was hoping to get a little decent sleep so i could watch the game. that didn't happen either. so, i basically slept through the first half. it was 0-0 at halftime, and i decided to get up. as soon as i was going to put the game on, Manchester City went up 1-0. well fuck, i'm not going to watch it now. so, somewhere between my emails and breakfast, Manchester United scored 2 goals in 4 minutes. Bruno and Rashford put United up 2-1. thankfully, that was the final score. now, United is only 1 point behind City in the Premier League.

why i will never be afraid to die...
it seems to me that every year around this time, death is very prominent on my mind. now, it could be that is the case because of my birthday on January 21st. or, it could be that is the case because winter is the season of death. or, it could be the case that i'm just a morbid fuck. regardless, given the number of high profile deaths here lately, it certainly has entered my brain that my own life will end one of these days. and maybe it is because my mother has cheated death twice now and we spent a good portion of her doctor's appointment yesterday going over DNR scenarios... for some time now, i have thought of death as the natural ending of life. every living thing is going to die. now, i do agree with Lemmy, the closer you die to your birthday, the more natural that death is. the circle of life naturally completes itself. add in all the diseases, drugs, alcohol, the world itself, etc., etc. and there is a plethora of reasons why the circle will close sooner than it most likely should. it floored me yesterday when Lisa Marie Presley died. less than a decade older than me. part of me wonders if after being at the Golden Globes and seeing the actor that won an award for playing her father, kind of closed the circle for her. i often joke about my mother being on the backside of the circle these days. hell, i know damn well i am as well. but unlike my mother, i am not afraid to die. now, i wouldn't mind if death would wait for me to get a few things done first; experiencing real love, seeing a few more oceans, getting my movie written, etc. all in all, just a long-winded way of saying enjoy your life, squeeze all the fucking marrow out of it, and always remember, you are not required to leave a beautiful corpse. rest in peace to Lisa, Robbie Knievel and Robbie Bachman.
now back into the here and now...
the New York Rangers won an absolutely thrilling game last night, defeating Dallas at home 2-1, in OT. now, the Rangers didn't score until there was less than a second left in the game. and then, Adam Fox won the game in OT. this certainly makes me want to believe that it is going to be another special season for the Rangers.
Vice News Tonight was really good last night.
Young Sheldon was pretty funny last night.
NJPW was excellent last night.
enjoy some music:

what a night...
so late last night, the Spanish princess finally gave me her number. i was pleasantly shocked that she said she was into me now. now, i just need to figure out a way to eliminate all the miles between us and hope that we have the same amazing chemistry in person that we do online.
AEW Dynamite was excellent last night.

and another one is gone...
so, just as i was sitting down to write today's blog, i got the breaking news that Jeff Beck had died. i always thought of Jeff as one of the greatest guitar players alive today. and back in the day where i thought i was going to be a guitar player, i certainly listened to a ton of his music, especially his guitar solos. this news certainly came out of nowhere. rest in peace to one of the greats.

the sun forgot to show up today...
hard to believe it has been 7 years since David Bowie died. that was one of those deaths that really hit me harder than i was expecting. especially given that it was 11 days before my own birthday. really engages the poetic side of my brain or existence, etc. so, all the music will be from Bowie today.
the national championship last night wasn't good. Georgia absolutely destroyed TCU, 65-7. i did win a little money last night, but certainly not what i was hoping for. i did finish with more money than i was given at Draftkings, so i will take that as a win.
