welcome to the weekend...

mom's DEXA scan went well today. she said it was much easier than it was in the past. i did write 2 poems while i was in the waiting room. i typed those up when we got back home.

i had a pretty amazing conversation with the muse last night. if i am lucky enough to live another ten years, then maybe i actually will have something to look forward to. and as much as that is appealing to me, i also know we are talking about my life. there is little to no fucking chance that what i would love to happen actually will. but, i do think it will make for some good poems along the way. and shit, who knows. maybe the gods actually allow me to win one for a change.

the New York Rangers won last night at home against Minnesota, 4-1. they are down to their 3rd string goalie, out 2 of their best players and are still humming right along. i have a good feeling about this team.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

i didn't watch any of the NFL game last night.

NJPW was really good last night.

the season finale of Big Brother was excellent last night. Jag won part 3 of the HOH competition and decided to take Matt to the final 2. that shocked me a bit. but, Jag's argument was excellent as he basically told everyone about the role he played in evicting them. Jag won the jury vote 5-2 to win Big Brother. Matt got second place. Cameron was voted America's favorite player.

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, AEW Rampage and Real Time with Bill Maher. i'll watch NXT Level Up sometime tonight on Peacock.

the Dayton Flyers play tonight at Northwestern. they found out yesterday their starting point guard is out for the season with a torn meniscus. so, i'm hoping they can find a way to get a big win on the road tonight, but it won't be easy.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays in the morning.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

until tomorrow kids...

so, i woke up this morning...

with a scratchy throat. joy. i pride myself with not getting sick. so, i'm really hoping this is not what i think it is. i know damn well, if i feel like this tomorrow, i won't be going to the Dayton Flyers game. thankfully, it is on TV.

so, mom cancelled her appointment today. her gut is really fucking with her and of course, she can't get an appointment until December to see that doctor. at least that meant, i got to watch all of the Manchester United game today.

the first half of United vs. Aston Villa was a snoozefest. the second half was a different story, thankfully. Aston Villa held two different leads in the second half, but United finally woke the fuck up and played much better in the second half. goals from Martial, Rashford, Bruno and McTominay gave United the 4-2 win. they will play Burnley in the next round of the League Cup at home in December.

the New York Knicks lost last night at the Nets, 112-85.

here are your NBA highlights from last night:

AEW Dynamite was excellent last night.

The Masked Singer was crazy last night.

Hard Knocks in Season was very good last night.

both episodes of American Horror Story: NYC were great last night. the finale is next week.

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon, NJPW and the series finale of Atlanta.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Detroit. maybe getting away from home will force them to play better.

the USWNT plays Germany tonight. i might watch some of that.

i will probably be on here tomorrow in the early afternoon.

i need to figure out dinner tonight and hopefully get a good night of sleep. stop laughing.

here comes the rain...

i'm hoping to get this written and get the damn trash picked up before the rain starts...

i went to Big Lots today hoping to find some baseball cards as i had a 15% off coupon. of course, they didn't have any. so i picked up a Joker figurine, a Darth Vader Funko Pop and some candy. with the discount, it cost me less than $15. so, that was a decent find in my mind.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

The Voice was very good last night. hopefully, it will be tonight as well.

Industry was pretty interesting last night.

i did watch some of the Jets vs. Patriots last night. i couldn't tell if my mother wanted the Jets to win or to keep losing to get a better draft pick. the Jets did find a way to lose at the end, 30-27. but, they did cover for all you gamblers out there.

the start of the college basketball season...

i am really looking forward to the game tonight between Dayton and Ball State. i believe the game is a sell out, so it should be an amazing atmosphere. Ball State is a pretty veteran team, so it wouldn't shock me, given Dayton's youth, that Ball State leads for a good portion of the game. i'm hoping that Dayton can pull out a victory, but it will take some healthy contributions from the kids for that to happen.

The Chris Gethard Show was very good last night. the subject of the show was something i have dealt with my entire life, failure. as someone who was never allowed to fail as a child, it's been one of the hardest things to deal with as an adult. imagine dealing with that and being a poet as well. good times.

Fuck, That's Delicious Classics was excellent last night.

Better Things was very good last night.

Gotham was great last night.

The Big Bang Theory was very funny last night.

Young Sheldon was very good last night.

Life in Pieces was hilarious last night.

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, NJPW, Real Time with Bill Maher and Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus.

it was 22 degrees when i went out to get the paper this morning. that was a nice shock to the system as all i had on was a t-shirt, shorts and some slippers. thank god i turned up the furnace last night. i actually got some decent sleep. of course, when i woke up this morning, the bags under my eyes looked like i had maybe two hours of sleep or less. good times.

i'm going to try to be on here tomorrow before Ohio State plays Michigan State.

this cold weather does quite a number on my back. i'll be in my massage chair for the next hour or so.

i hope everyone has a great weekend. take it easy and then take it again.

change or at least the possibility of it happening

so, i went to check out the house yesterday with my sister and mother. of course, within 2 minutes of getting these my uncle was out on his scooter (for the elderly, not hipsters) to talk to us. the realtor was running late. once she got there, we went inside. the outside looked nice and looks pretty easy to maintain. the inside was pretty nice as well. a ton of storage which would be good for all the shit we have. what would be my bedroom is a good size. not sure about the bathrooms, but that would be an issue for a later date. after talking to my mother and sister, my sister decided to make an offer for the house. we should find out tomorrow if we're getting it or not. while i'm not thrilled with living next to family, it certainly will make the poetry interesting. and any writer will tell you interesting is never a bad thing.

after that, i came back home to watch the New Orleans Saints lose a heart breaker in OT, 27-24. the loss drops them back under .500. of course, having been a fan of this team on and off since the 1980's, i'm sort of numb to these types of losses. making the playoffs will be that much harder now.

the New York Rangers played like shit last night, except for the goalie who did his best to keep them in a game they had no interest in playing. a 3-1 loss to Edmonton when you get outplayed for 60 minutes is fucking unacceptable. they made some minor roster moves this evening, but i doubt they will be much help with the Penguins coming up tomorrow.

one of my fantasy football teams comes into tonight down by 67 points. needless to say, i don't think i have a fucking chance in that one. as for the other one, i'm up by 3 points and still have 3 players to go tonight. i feel good about that one.

the Sunday night shows were excellent last night. The Newsroom was fucking great. i love how well written the show is week after week. Last Week Tonight was hilarious as always. Homeland was a mind fuck last night. The Affair peeled a little more of the onion last night and the ending definitely set my mind racing where the show goes next.

as for tonight, a bit of a clusterfuck, but not too bad. i have no plans on watching the football game. and Monday Night Raw is over in England, so there's a good chance i will simply find out what happens and then only watch what the live reports said were good. so, that leaves me bouncing between Gotham and the first live shows for this season of The Voice. i should be able to manage that pretty good.

i've got to get the farm ready for the winter blast coming our way in a few days. mostly closing up barns and taking account of what is broken. i'm going to be interested to see how the cats handle a few days in a row of it being cold. i don't think some of the young ones are cut out for it.

i got some great music on NoiseTrade today. if you are a fan of Springsteen or Tom Waits, you'll definitely want to check out this FREE music. the link will be below.

that's pretty much all for me. i think i may try to do some writing tonight. i've got a few words swimming up in my head. i do hope everyone had a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.
