so, my birthday yesterday went pretty well. i was hoping to hear from more people, but that is the beauty of getting older. i was very happy with what mom got me. the Aaron Judge rookie card certainly surprised me. i went to the bank today to deposit my birthday money. after that, i went to Big Lots since i had a 15% off coupon for my birthday. they didn't have anything i was looking for.
the New York Rangers won last night in Anaheim, 5-2. i found out during the game that Jonathan Quick and K'Andre Miller also were born on January 21st. learn something new everyday.
i did watch both NFL playoff games yesterday. the Lions beat Tampa Bay, 31-23. the Chiefs won in Buffalo, 27-24. so, next week it will be Chiefs at Ravens and Lions at 49ers. winners go to the Super Bowl.

i heard back from Cristina at Synchronized Chaos on my recent poetry submission. my poems "seeking ghosts", "another excuse to get depressed", "the never-ending chaos of the world", "ever dreamed about dunking" and "take secrets to the grave" have been accepted for publication.
so, around noon today i called Rite Aid to see what was up with my Trulicity prescription. well, it seems like the manufacturer has limited the production of it, so the wholesaler that Rite Aid uses has none and that means they can't fill my prescription. my doctor's office gave me the choice of calling my insurance and seeing if i can switch to one of the other drugs (Ozempic, etc.) or up my intake of my Glimepiride. i chose the Glimepiride as i have the pills here at the house. so, now i will take that after breakfast and after dinner for the time being. i'm hoping the Trulicity delay doesn't go on forever. i finally found a drug that worked for me and of course...
we did get some snow overnight. i'm guessing we got a couple of inches. joy.
the New York Rangers got their asses handed to them last night at Las Vegas, 5-1.

i haven't slept well the past couple of nights. i'm chalking it up to my back pain.
i'm not sure what mom has planned for my birthday. i'm not expecting anything crazy given the snow on the ground.
i made chicken and waffles for dinner last night. i've been trying to switch it up a bit here lately. mom made the roast i got earlier this week for tonight. so, this should be a good night of eating.

it seems like i have had a bad back forever. it is probably more like over 20 years now. i have a knot in the middle of my back that i can't get loose. warm water didn't help. stretching, ice, etc., nothing. so, today has been one of those pain management days. joy. just what i wanted 3 days before my birthday.
i did have a very good conversation with an old friend this morning. she wants to give me a birthday present. now, i just have to figure out how to get to where she lives. good times.

we are supposed to get some snow, so i figure when it gets bad, that will be when Rite Aid texts me to let me know my prescription is ready to pick up. and considering it is the shot i take for my type 2 diabetes, i kind of have to go get it.

the grocery shopping went well today. got everything that was on the list and managed to keep it under $200. i figured Kroger would be busy today since it is supposed to snow in the next 4 days. and i admit, i did get a few things in case it is snowing on my birthday. i usually will order a pizza, etc. i figured if it is bad out, we can just make that shit here at the house.

since i really don't want to be doing laundry this upcoming weekend (my 48th birthday is on Sunday), i decided laundry day was going to be today. but first, i needed to go to the post office to drop off some mail. i was going to take it out to the mailbox at 3 in the morning, but it was snowing and 4 degrees outside. after the post office, i went to the bank. after that, i went and got some gas at Kroger. i usually like to have a full tank of gas in the winter, just in case.

it actually made it up to double digits today for the high temperature. it is so cold in our garage, i'm not sure the refrigerator actually needs to be running.

so, i didn't get to sleep until around 5 this morning. when i got up, roughly 4 or 5 hours later, i looked to see what the temperature was outside. my phone said 0 but feels like -11. oh joy, now winter is definitely here.
i was hoping to get this done before Manchester United started today. so much for that. they are currently playing at home against Tottenham. it is 2-2 in the second half.
the New York Rangers pissed away a lead yesterday and lost at Washington, 3-2. they play them at home today. hopefully, they end this fucking losing streak.

it started off as rain this morning. by the time i was driving to Rite Aid to pick up a prescription, it had turned over to sleet. at least it wasn't really causing any problems here. i know some other roads around here had crashes on them. it is that time of year again...
Rite Aid wasn't that busy. i got my prescription and some stuff mom needed and came back home. what kills me is i got a text from Rite Aid 2 hours later saying i had 2 more prescriptions to pick up. since i don't need them right now, i think those will be picked up on Monday.

i guess New England has a new coach.
so does Alabama.
i helped mom put up a towel ring in the other bathroom here. since it didn't come with the screw to use, we had to improvise. and doing that while it is raining and arthritis is raging, joy... but, after i watched a YouTube video, i figured out what we were doing wrong and got it up pretty quickly. after that, i had a bunch of boxes to break down and put in the recycling.
i guess it is going to get really fucking cold this weekend. hope everyone stays warm.
