today has been one of my lazy days. not that i haven't done things. did a couple loads of laundry for my mother, got the paper and mail in town. it's just the weather is so damn nice that all i have the energy to do is eat a little candy and sleep in my chair.

mom hasn't felt dizzy since the surgery so she is very happy about that. she's worried that she stills hears sounds in her ear that shouldn't be there. i tell her to not worry about it, just let the body rest and heal, but what the fuck do i know... i told her the bright side of losing all her hearing in her left ear is she won't hear me as well when i yell at the basketball games. i sit on her left at the games.

the New York Yankees got out to a nice lead last night and i felt good. and then, the bullpen shit the bed and somehow 4-0 became a 11-5 loss. ouch. they play again tonight. hopefully they can get back to their winning ways.

been flipping between soccer, playoff hockey and playoff basketball today. rinse and repeat for tomorrow as well.

i'm hoping i will be awake for ROH this evening. i believe it is on after the Ten Commandments. there's a poem there i believe.

i'll probably do another post in the morning tomorrow as around 11 am my day gets crazy. Manchester United plays in the morning and the New York Rangers play game 2 of their series at noon. plus, it's Easter and it's also the day to pick up the trash and recyclables. there's a poem there as well.

hope everyone is having a great weekend. enjoy the candy. be well. be creative. be the shining light hiding the train.

peace...

sunshine and pain

i pretty much knew i had picked the wrong team to win the Super Bowl when the first snap of the game ends up in a safety. it was not an entertaining blowout, nor were the commercials the greatest either. i did enjoy the halftime show very much. i'm pretty sure millions of people finally know who Bruno Mars is now.

as for the Sunday night shows, Shameless was great as always. i did enjoy House of Lies very much. and i fell asleep during Episodes, missing the last 5 minutes. but, since i can't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time, i did see those 5 minutes later in the night. i did catch the episode of New Girl after the Super Bowl. it did make me laugh, as did seeing Prince with that damn fro.

sadly, i don't believe the pain pills are working as well as they did when i first started taking them. my arm has really been bothering me today. of course, i believe some of that has to do with the weather.

i did manage to type up the 2 poems i wrote this weekend. i also did a quick brainstorm of my favorite 15 poems for that poetry project i wrote about yesterday. i believe i have the 15 i want to send. i think it's a fairly good mix of my work. i suppose time will tell.

the weather forecast for here for the middle of the week apocalypse storm keeps changing. hopefully, the latest one is true where we get mostly snow and sleet and no freezing rain. i could live with that.

i was a little stunned to see that Philip Seymour Hoffman died on Sunday. then, i read up on his struggles with addiction and was less stunned. sad to see an amazing talent go way too soon.

i am really hoping Monday Night Raw is good enough tonight to distract me from my pain. i know there is a steel cage match tonight, so that should help.

other than that, i see a long shower in my future and leftover snacks from Super Bowl Sunday for dinner. good times.

that's all for me. hope everyone had a great weekend. a big thank you to Michele for following the blog. and a big thank you for all the love on LinkedIn here lately, i really appreciate it.

peace and chicken grease.

trying to find the relief that death surely brings

have i ever told you how life is with a bad back? have i told you the utter joy of when that bad back seizes up when you're in the middle of taking a shit? have i told you how hard it is to lift 40 pounds of salt for the water treatment in the cellar when it's nearly impossible to walk erect? as you can surmise, my day has been fucking painful to say the least. but, i still managed to get some shit done.

i did type up the 5 poems i wrote the other day. i think they are pretty good. i'd like to get one more batch done before i send out some more submissions. i'm hoping this weekend provides the ammunition.

i also managed to get the dishes done today. how i managed to stand for 20 minutes in this pain, i'm not so sure. i know i have an unreal pain tolerance, but at times it gets pretty fucking ridiculous.

i managed to get 9 of the 12 right on The Voice last night. not too shabby. 2 of the guys i got wrong i am pretty happy for as i wanted them to stay but thought they had no chance at all.

the New York Rangers got another win last night. they are back to .500 now. 3rd place in the division, which is where they will need to finish to be guaranteed of making the playoffs this year. i really like how they have turned the season around. below are the highlights from last night:

i'm off to a decent start in fantasy football. i did watch a good portion of the college football games last night. but, ultimately, i paid the most attention to the MLS playoffs. was a busy sports night to say the least.

my afternoon tomorrow will be spent at the home opener for the University of Dayton men's basketball team. hard to fucking believe it's already basketball season. hopefully they get off to a really good start this year. they are not supposed to do anything according to the experts, so i'm really hoping this is the year they stick it to everyone for not including them in the new Big East conference.

i suppose i will blog about that and other things when i get home tomorrow. all i'm hoping to do tonight is survive a shower and shave and not end up in the fetal position. looks like my sports Sunday is actually going to be more chaotic than tomorrow is going to be.

that's all for me today. i hope everyone has a great weekend. may the creative fire burn inside of you and let it not just be indigestion.
