i woke up this morning and forgot that team USA was playing Russia in the Hockey World Championships. by the time i remembered the game was over. i searched around for the score and then laughed my ass off. USA wins 8-3. Russia's worst loss in the tournament EVER. fucking beautiful. team USA plays Switzerland in the semi-finals next.
caught a damn squirrel on one of the bird feeders and went out to scare it off and pick back up the one i just know the little fucker knocked down. all of this in a damn thunderstorm. fun.
it's with a little sadness but a true sense of the cold reality of living on a farm that i must come to grips with the likely fact my cats Langston Hughes and Neal Cassady are dead. they have been gone for over 5 weeks with no sight of them. i think it's safe to assume. that brings the cat total down to 14. that doesn't include the kittens i know damn well Whitey and Rita Dove have hidden.
but the sadness was temporary as i noticed a little bit of green poking up from the freshly planted fields. good to see the corn coming up. hopefully we have a really strong crop this year. we need it after the insurance season of last year.
i decided to take some pictures as i noticed it had been a little while. plus, i wanted to figure out how to post them to the new Google+ (which i frankly fucking hate). here are my 3 favorites. you can see the other 15 in the May 16, 2013 album on my Google+ page.
the New York Yankees had one of those nights last night. Phil Hughes couldn't get out of the first inning and you just knew it was going to be an erase from your mind as soon as it is over type of game. the Yankees lost 12-2. at least i was smart enough to start former Yankee Raul Ibanez in the game for my fantasy team. 2 home runs and 6 runs batted in. not bad. also, it was nice to see 2 guys make their major league debuts last night. after reading about these kids for years it's good to see if they really are as good as i have heard about. time will tell. hopefully the Yankees win the series by taking the rubber game tonight.
i'm looking forward to the Rangers vs. Bruins game tonight. should be a good one. i'll spend most of the night fixated on that. i'm sure i'll manage to get in the season finale of The Big Bang Theory and probably some other shit in the intermissions. i'd love to see the Rangers win this series in something less than 7 games.
now, i have plenty of dishes to do and hopefully a little nap to take before the games tonight. hope this finds everyone well. still trying to come up with how i'm going to promote the book tomorrow. toying with the idea of a little art video for one of the shorter poems. not sure yet. the Rangers could lose tonight or someone gets injured and i'll just be in a fuck the world mood tomorrow and won't do shit. most of my YouTube videos have been spur of the moment anyway.
i actually got a compliment on them last night which caught me off guard. always nice to know someone is enjoying it. hopefully many silent people are as well.
music today:

a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

what to do when the day starts with death
i must have been 9 or 10 years old at the time. i was playing with my best friend in the woods across from his house. we came across a trash bag that had a stench that was unbelievable. we went and got his father to open the bag. he did. inside was a dead dog. stuffed in the bag to die we all thought. that stench has stayed with me ever since.
fast forward to today. i go out to feed the cats. i open the side door to the barn most of them stay in. as soon as i opened the door i smelled that smell. i looked around and sure enough, there was my cat T.S. Eliot deader than dead. i last saw him 2 weeks ago and he was looking ragged but i thought nothing of it. he certainly wasn't the same after he lost his war with Neal Cassady over who was going to be the dominant male in the group. i shall raise a glass to you tonight my lost friend. hope you are in a better place, where ever the fuck that may be.
now for the cherry on top
i'm talking about 5 hours of mowing grass in 90 degrees with never being quite sure if i had mowed that part before or not. it was better the more weeds i saw. easier on my eyes. first time i have mowed since June. amazing how much dirt i was wearing at the end of the five hours. too fucking dry out here. chance of rain later in the week. not sure how many times i have been bullshitted by mother nature on that one this summer.
so tonight i plan on catching the rest of the Yankees game, a little Deadliest Catch (behind the scenes, i love that shit) and then Hard Knocks on HBO starts this evening. just about anything HBO Sports does is worth your time. and i'm hoping to avoid the sun shits and bad sleep this evening.
i'm hoping any betting people took my advice on the men's Olympic soccer. i said Brazil and Mexico would play in the final. and they are. don't ask me who wins, but if you like a future bet, that will be the final of the next World Cup as well. nothing like making a prediction a few years ahead of time.
music today:
only what was playing in my head while i was out mowing the grass/weeds. thank heavens i have listened to just about everything in the last 36 years. plenty to choose from.
