one of those days...

before i get to the moments of yesterday that pissed me off, a big thank you to everyone for checking out my latest published poems:

https://blackpetalsks.tripod.com/yellowmama/id3457.html (boy genius)

https://blackpetalsks.tripod.com/yellowmama/id3458.html (on an empty stomach)

https://blackpetalsks.tripod.com/yellowmama/id3459.html (this harrowing reality)

Manchester United lost yesterday at Newcastle, 4-1. i figured they would lose yesterday, i was just hoping they wouldn't have any injuries. silly me.

the Yankees pissed away a 3-0 lead yesterday and lost at home to the Giants, 5-4. they start a series tonight at home against the Royals.

i did watch a good portion of The Masters yesterday.

the season finale of The Americas was excellent last night.

the season finale of Yellowjackets was insane last night.

The Last of Us was excellent last night.

The Righteous Gemstones was hilarious last night.

Last Week Tonight was BRILLIANT as usual.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be The Voice. i'll watch Monday Night Raw sometime tonight on Netflix.

the New York Rangers play tonight at Florida.

here are your two videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

i hope everyone had a great weekend.

mom has an appointment this afternoon with her dermatologist. after that, she wants to swing by the bank and get some money out so she can pay the kid across the street that mowed our grass.

i will be on here tomorrow in the morning most likely.

one of those nights...

now, i often talk about how i seem to thrive on chaos... last night was one of those nights where everything decided to happen at once and oh boy, here we go...

so, the trip to the accountant went well. for a change, mom got her taxes in on time. it was last October for the previous year. the accountant was thrilled. the trip to Meijer turned into the trip to Kroger, the UPS store and then Meijer. i did pretty much find everything i was looking for yesterday. plus, i got mom some flowers and went ahead and got her Mother's Day gift. i got back home in time to watch the start of the Yankees game against the Twins and the Rangers game against Toronto.

before i get to all of that misery, here are your two videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

so, the Yankees got blown out last night against the Twins, 11-2. i might have watched a couple of minutes of the first inning and then quickly turned that shit off. hopefully, they will find a way to win tonight.

the New York Rangers lost last night at home to Toronto, 3-2. they will play the New Jersey Devils in the playoffs, starting on Tuesday on the road.

and now, the biggest disappointment from yesterday. Manchester United pissed away a 2-0 lead against Sevilla and ended up with a 2-2 draw in the Europa League yesterday. worse yet, both center backs got injured. so, it looks like they will be without Varane and Martinez for the rest of the season. fuck me.

Vice News Tonight was really good last night.

Young Sheldon was good last night.

NJPW was very good last night.

i made some pasta last night. i don't mind cooking, but i hate when it takes a few skillets and pots and pans, mostly because i am the one doing the dishes as well. i do a pretty good job cooking, at least i haven't had many complaints from my mother.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Smackdown, AEW Rampage, Real Time with Bill Maher, A Black Lady Sketch Show and Personality Crisis: One Night Only. i'll watch NXT Level Up sometime tonight on Peacock.

i will probably watch a little of the NBA play in games tonight. Chicago plays Miami and Oklahoma City plays Minnesota.

so, mom was supposed to get her bloodwork done this afternoon. she wasn't feeling well this morning and decided to cancel the appointment. i guess, in hindsight, i didn't need that shower i took at 3 AM now.

it feels like we are going to get some rain this evening. just in time for the weekend. it never fails.

i hope everyone has a great weekend.

i have been listening to the new Metallica album all day long. 72 Seasons is a good listen. it definitely has some really amazing songs on it. i haven't heard anything that makes me want to skip to the next song.

i should be on here tomorrow in the morning.

nothing like waking up late...

so, mom wanted to go get her taxes and then go get her injection for her back. the time for the injection was 11:15. i woke up at 9:45, two hours after i was hoping to wake up. i had my blood sugar to take, dishes to put away, coffee to make, etc. around 10:25, i walked into mom's bedroom and was like if you want to make your injection appointment on time, you might want to wake up now. she thought i was joking. then she looked at her clock and said oh shit. i got her to her injection appointment at 11:13. i stayed in the parking lot and wrote 3 poems. i typed those up when we got back home. we got the taxes after the injection. thank god those are done now. as for the poems, i liked them. i will hopefully get a few more written and get some submissions out soon.

the Yankees won last night in Texas, 3-1. Severino was amazing last night. he threw 7 no-hit innings. of course, the Yankees pulled him after 94 pitches. they baby their pitchers so much and yet they all get injured. go figure. the Yankees play a doubleheader today. they are up 1-0 in the first game.

The Voice was really good last night.

Monday Night Raw was good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be NXT, Deadliest Catch, The Voice and Tales From the Territories.

i didn't watch much of the NFL game last night. i'm not a fan of either team.

i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.

since i got the news while i was hurrying to get ready this morning, i haven't really had the chance to process the death of Loretta Lynn. i have always been a fan of her music, mostly because she was an amazing storyteller. i think she probably squeezed everything she could have out of her 90 years on this planet. rest in peace, you have earned it.

growing impatient in an incompetent world...

i wanted to have this blog done before now. thankfully, the Yankees are in a rain delay right now, so i've got a little more time than i thought i did.

mom once again fell asleep in her physical therapy today. they were working on getting the rocks back in where they should be in her ears. so, her session went about 30 minutes longer than it was supposed to, which threw a couple of screws into the rest of my day. what she doesn't understand is i'm not angry with her over this; i still believe i can overcome anything. the time limits i put on shit are arbitrary as it is. what i can't stand is the little things, the details of life. a slow driver, a grandma that can't make a sharp turn, a stupid motherfucker that pulls out into traffic without looking, etc. etc. part of it is my stubbornness for sure and part of it is i simply expect too much from humanity.

so i wrote 2 poems today. i typed those up and the two i wrote yesterday. i like all of them. i need to get a few more written and i think i'm going to try to get another round of submissions out this month.

here are your 3 videos for this day of National Poetry Month:

the Yankees lost last night to Toronto, 6-4. i should say they lost to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. he hit 3 home runs last night. oh well. if they do play tonight, the Yankees will be trying to get the split in the series.

the New York Rangers defeated Philadelphia last night, 4-0.

AEW Dynamite was excellent last night.

Snowfall was great last night. i can't wait for the season finale next week.

The Masked Singer was crazy last night, as usual.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Young Sheldon, United States of Al, How We Roll, NJPW, Atlanta and Desus & Mero. i watched NXT UK this afternoon on Peacock. it was really good.

i'm not a very religious person anymore. just had two fucks knock on the door from some church not in the area. they are lucky mom answered the door instead of me.

so yeah, i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i do have one of my favorite songs in mind for Good Friday.

that's all for me kids. i need to ice my back down and go figure out dinner. of course, i had lunch less than 3 hours ago, so this should be interesting.

it has fucking rained all damn day. i really could use a morphine drip in this fucking house right now.

so, i did watch American Song Contest last night. best part of the show was you could tell Snoop and Kelly were getting more and more drunk as the show went on.

Better Things was excellent last night.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night.

the New York Rangers play tonight at New Jersey. all the guys the Rangers traded for yesterday will be in the lineup. hopefully, the boys destroy the Devils tonight.

i should have known it was going to be like this today...

i had to stick myself 4 damn times to get enough blood to take my blood sugar this morning. i should have known it was going to be one of those days.

that being said, i did manage to find some football cards today. i got 2 Fairfield boxes at Rite-Aid. it cost me $10 total. i think i got around $25 out of both boxes. that works for me. so yeah, if anyone is interested in some football cards, let me know what you need. everything is priced to go.

the grocery stores weren't too bad today. i could have gone without my back pain while at Kroger or the long fucking lines because they don't want too many people working.

the New York Yankees lost last night to Toronto, 7-3. and then lost to them again this afternoon, 5-4. fuck me.

the New York Rangers won last night over the Devils, 3-0. that was Igor's first NHL shutout. hopefully, the first of many to come.

NXT was fucking excellent last night.

Young Rock was good last night.

Kenan was pretty funny last night.

Deadliest Catch was a look at the Time Bandit and then a preview of the upcoming season. next week starts the 17th season of the show.

Mayans M.C. was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

so, while driving home from the grocery store, i was listening to a Neil Young song and suddenly started thinking about suicide. there is a loneliness that tends to swallow me on somedays and will eventually run me down that rabbit hole where i know i won't have any choice one day. the thing i find funny is i don't find it uncomfortable anymore. that riding the wave is the only thing i can do, knowing the results will never be as satisfying as i would need them to be. so yeah, if anyone wants to know the life of a poet, there you go.

i guess i am going to Menards tomorrow. i was planning on going Friday, but mom has a doctor's appointment on Friday. oh well.

i have dinner to go make and they finally picked up the fucking trash. so yeah, that's all for me kids.

and here comes the rainy weekend...

when i woke up this morning, i could feel it in my bones. i just knew it was raining. and this rain is supposed to continue more or less for the whole fucking weekend. and i'm not drinking. oh fucking joy.

here is your poetry for this day of National Poetry Month:

the New York Yankees won last night 8-6. the bullpen still isn't good enough as of right now. that must get better soon, or the team is going to really have to tinker with it all season. the game today has already been rained out. they are going to try to play a doubleheader tomorrow. i highly doubt that happens given the weather.

VICE was really good last night. it also reminded me why i am not a fan of technology.

NJPW was awesome last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was excellent last night.

Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas was fucking great last night. i highly recommend this series to everyone. and you don't need HBO to see it. i believe they are putting each episode on YouTube.

i did watch some playoff hockey last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Saturday Night Live, ROH and Elvis Presley: The Searcher.

i'm sure i will probably watch some hockey and soccer along the way today.

i did watch a little bit of Ohio State's spring game today. it's going to be weird to watch someone other than J.T. Barrett be the quarterback of that team.

i'm about halfway done with my laundry.

my sister left this morning after the first storm moved through.

the new coffeemaker worked fine this morning. crisis averted.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

another long day

there's nothing quite like waking up from a dream where your high school girlfriend tells you that all your books have been stolen. i got the part where she would be in the dream as i scanned about 10 photos for her from high school a few hours before i went to sleep. but the books part had me completely fucking baffled at 6 in the morning. although, i did check the bookcase just to be sure.

and if you would like to see what i looked like in high school, feel free:
time has truly beaten the shit out of me. as for her, not so much. she's still beautiful.

the heating and air guys came out today to clean out the air ducts. you could tell an immediate difference when they got done. hopefully it will help this summer.

and after a quick lunch, mom and i went to Menards. i figured it would be better to do that today than tomorrow. i truly expect things to be a clusterfuck the closer we get to the 4th of July. we did find some things that i think will work in the house. plus, my aunt was a little jealous of the solar lights we have over here, so i picked out a ridiculous purple one for her. but, i also know that i will have some things to put together this holiday weekend. good times.

enjoy a quick musical break as i go get some water:

the New York Yankees won yesterday, 3-1. at least they avoided the sweep. they are off tonight and start a series with Tampa at home tomorrow.

NXT was pretty good last night. i agreed with some reviews that the matches could have been better, but i'm not going to bitch about it much. i did watch the main event from ROH again. i could watch AJ Styles and Adam Cole wrestle each other everyday of the year. they have great chemistry with each other. Lucha Underground was excellent last night. i really can't wait for the Ultimate Lucha coming in August. enjoy some highlights from last night:

here is some funny shit:

all i really plan on watching tonight is Big Brother. i'm pretty sure Jace will be the one evicted tonight. although, i wouldn't mind him not going and watching a few house guests go bat shit crazy.

i did happen to listen to the new Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast this morning. definitely worth your time:
you can find it at notsam.com, iTunes, Stitcher and on the right hand side of this blog.

i know i will be driving mom to the grocery store in the morning tomorrow. i guess i'll be checking out the elderly while i'm there. i can just imagine those poems. i figure i will be back on here sometime before the Yankees play tomorrow.

congrats to Marty St. Louis on his NHL career. i would have loved to see him go out as a winner with the Rangers, but he had a hall of fame career nonetheless. here's a video i saw today of him that made me smile:

and here comes a howling wind

it started raining last night, but amazingly i was able to get some sleep. painful, but i got a few hours. the wind really started to kick in this morning. i checked the radar and decided i better get my ass moving. i got the cats fed and got into town before the snow hit. we only had one piece of mail. i made it back home before it started to snow. near white out conditions at times, but, in the end, just a fucking dusting. hopefully this wind now dries everything out before it gets down to the single digits tonight. hopefully this is the last bit of winter for this season. i'm sick of this shit.

i started doing some neck exercises today. just really wanted to stretch the muscles to see if i could make some more progress. they definitely helped so far.

finished my brainstorming this morning and came up with the 10 songs i needed. so, now i just need to get all of other songs my cousin wants downloaded and i'll be good to go. i'm hoping to get this done by the weekend.

the New York Rangers disappointed the shit out of me last night. completely outworked the entire game. if Hank wouldn't have been as good as he was, they would have lost by more. 3-1 loss in a game that really never felt that close. they start a back to back on the road tomorrow. they better have their asses in gear as they are a few more losses away from falling out of a playoff spot.

saw the news today that the New Orleans Saints are going to try to trade away my favorite player, Darren Sproles. i'm not happy about this, but i just hope they send him to a place where he'll have a chance to play and win. he deserves at least that much.

i believe the episodes of Legit and Ali G are new tonight. i'll hopefully be out of the shower in time to watch those. other than that, it's the crap shoot to see if i can stay up to see the late night shows or not. i did a pretty good job last night. i didn't fall asleep until halfway into Late Night. i imagine that was due to my brain overworking to try to understand the Spanish Juanes was singing in his performance last night on The Tonight Show. i got a few words here and there. not bad for not working on it since high school.

i did catch a little of the New York Yankees this afternoon. i was flipping between that and all the NFL free agency news. the Saints got a good safety. here's hoping they do a little more than just that.

that's all for me. i need to get over to iTunes and start doing some pricing. hope this finds everyone well. and warm. and ready for warmer weather. and hopefully not involved in the fire on the west coast or the apartment explosion on the east coast. seeing i know people in both places, this has been one of those afternoons where i wish i could just sleep all of it away.

peace bitches...

a case of the blah blah blah

you'd think i'd be pissed after just watching Baltimore win and take a 1/2 game lead in the AL East. but, i'm not. the Yankees have put themselves in this situation. if they can't get out of it, then, by all means, blow up the fucking team. god forbid some youth for a change. a man can dream. they'll play like shit, somehow win the division, get blown out in the first round of playoffs, have some wonderful excuse that none of us fans will buy, and then the fun starts. but i have a few months until i will bitch and moan about that. a must win in Boston tonight if the assholes actually give a shit about being in first.

personally, i'll be flipping between the NFL, Big Brother, Wilfred, Louie and whatever the fuck else i can find to avoid watching the Yankees tonight. i did a good job last night of doing that and they won. fingers are crossed.

typed up the 3 poems i wrote about the music festival i attended over the past weekend. i imagine i'll have plenty more to write about it in the coming weeks. i'm thinking these 3 will be going out later this month.

enough babbling from me. i have fantasy rosters to go check before the game tonight.

music today:

Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose

blah blah sports and music for the day, etc.

i'm doing my best to try to avoid sports today. trying to give my brain some time off. the Yankees are going to the west coast. so tomorrow starts insomniac baseball. the Rangers are thankfully off today. i might peek a view at the heat and pacers tonight. the beauty of the NBA though, is you only need to watch the last 5 minutes of a game. the rest of the time is entertainment, not basketball. plus, it's always good to see what LeBron will be hated for now.

so w/o sports i decided to mind fuck myself with music today. below are my selections:

Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa - Don't Explain
Shrug - Whole Hog for the Macho Jesus
Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
Beck - Sea Change
Shooter Jennings - Family Man
Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation

just odd enough all together that it makes sense.

on a farm note, always interesting when you're feeding the cats and birds and you find skunk shit near the cat food. i think we have 6 new kittens, all born in the last 3 weeks. so someone was busy fucking in the winter. i don't give them much of a chance though. the coyotes seem to be growing in numbers. always fun to sit by the bay window and enjoy this zoo.

lastly, my favorite quote from William S. Burroughs,

"Language is a virus from outer space."
