i found out right before i fell asleep last night that the pope had died. i find it curious that one of the last pieces of shit to see him alive was J.D. Vance. now, i'm not saying one thing killed the other, just saying it is interesting. in a weird way, last night was full of tragedy. be it wrestling, tv shows, reality... damn.
night 2 of WrestleMania was damn near perfect. the show was much better paced than night 1. i liked the matches better. the Joe Hendry surprise was actually a surprise. it was great to see Becky Lynch back. then, the main event started. Cena's win over Cody felt completely anticlimactic. now, i have learned to let everything play out before casting judgement, but this certainly fell flat. and i know in wrestling history, when your main event falls flat, it takes away from the whole show.
The Last of Us last night was shocking, mostly because i didn't know what was coming since i never played the video game.
The Americas last night was the behind the scenes of how they made the show. that was fascinating to watch.
The Righteous Gemstones was hilarious last night. just two episodes left.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan was very good last night.
here are your highlights from the NBA playoffs yesterday:
here are your highlights from the NHL playoffs yesterday:
Manchester United lost yesterday at home to Wolves, 1-0.
the Yankees won 4-0 yesterday against Tampa Bay. i couldn't believe the official scorer took away the no hitter that Max Fried was working on. and i couldn't believe the umpires and the replay booth took away a home run from Aaron Judge that was clearly fair. the Yankees start a series tonight in Cleveland.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
nothing on the DVR tonight. i will be watching Monday Night Raw on Netflix. the Raw after WrestleMania is always a crazy one.

i do love that today happens to be 4/20 and Easter. they go hand in hand most of the time.
night 1 of WrestleMania was good. a few surprises, probably nothing bigger than what happened in the pre-show. WWE has purchased the Mexican promotion AAA. that floored me. i have always been a fan of lucha libre and can only hope that the WWE machine will make it even bigger. as for the matches, i love that Jey Uso won the title. the Paul Heyman double backstab to end up with Seth Rollins was very good. hopefully, it will be even better tonight.
earlier in the day, NXT Stand & Deliver was really good.

i almost had a feeling that the New York Rangers were going to find a way yesterday to stay alive in the playoff chase. i quickly saw how foolish that thought was after the first 40 minutes. they lost at Carolina yesterday, 7-3. that eliminates them from the chance to make the playoffs. they are the 4th team to win the President's trophy the previous year and miss the playoffs the next. the Rangers have actually done that twice now. the last time they did it, they won the Stanley Cup the next season. oh, if only history could fucking repeat itself.

today has been one of those days where the time change has really caught up to me. i think i actually got some decent sleep for the first time in forever. of course, we're talking about a little more than 5 hours. it has snowed here a couple times today. fuck, it was snowing sideways for about 10 minutes. thankfully, it stopped long enough i could go get the mail out of the mailbox and not have to do it in a mini-blizzard.
i was really hoping the Dayton Flyers were going to win yesterday. they had the lead at halftime against VCU. they came out hot in the second half and pushed the lead to 11 points. sadly, then the usual happened. Anthony Grant got outcoached by a fucking mile. Dayton never makes any fucking adjustments while every other fucking team in college basketball can figure what isn't working and then go to plan b. i guess plan b never exists in Anthony Grant's world. he's been at Dayton for 6 years now and has won absolutely fucking nothing. and i know the year COVID hit Dayton was a top 3 team in the country and was going to have a 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, etc. but, shit happens. Dayton missed their last 15 shots in the game (i haven't seen shooting that bad since i watched elementary school teams 30 fucking years ago) and lost to VCU, 68-56. Holmes and Camara made the all tournament team. Holmes was voted the player of the tournament. first time it has gone to a player on the losing team in nearly twenty years. after the game, Dayton announced that they wouldn't be accepting any invites to the NIT, etc. i laughed as i read they listed injuries as why they wouldn't be playing again this season. i'm sure if they would have won the game against VCU, they would have gone to wherever the NCAA told them to go. i'm guessing the team is going to look completely different next season. the rumors are a handful of players are leaving. i wouldn't be shocked if a few assistant coaches got offers at other schools to either be head coaches, etc. the one thing that won't change is Anthony Grant as head coach. i don't think the athletic director has the balls to fire him like he should. mediocrity is the only thing the fan base desires to be honest. win 20 games, nothing but positive talk about the school, the arena, the fans, etc., get a bid to the NIT since for all the blue hairs that were kids in the 50's, that was the only tournament that mattered. that was also the only time the Dayton Flyers mattered. i'm 99.9% sure i won't be getting season tickets any longer. i'm just so disgusted with this mentality of good enough when everything is in place to be great. except for the head coach. and they are so fucking blindsided by loyalty, since Grant is a grad, he will probably be there until he dies. what a fucking joke.
the New York Rangers lost yesterday at Pittsburgh in OT, 3-2. at least they got a point out of the game.
the New York Knicks won yesterday at the Lakers, 112-108.
here are your NBA highlights from yesterday:

Manchester United and Southampton played a 0-0 draw today. considering United was down to 10 men for more than half of the game (Casemiro got another red card), i'm fine with the draw. still mad at the red card though and some other shitty decisions made by Anthony Taylor today. every ref should know, if you are trending after a game is over, you did a fucking horrible job.
if Dayton wins today, i will be absolutely fucking glued to the selection show for the NCAA tournament later tonight. if they lose, i mean i'll still do some brackets, but i won't give two shits about them either.

i got up this morning and made biscuits and gravy. i wanted to give mom a "treat" as she has had a busy week. plus, with the remodeling going on, she doesn't get to sleep as much as she would like to or need to. and then we started to watch the Manchester United game against Liverpool. let's just say, i was proud of myself for turning the game off when United got down 2-0. as i told my mother later this afternoon, i would like to think that is a sign of maturity. and i know i couldn't have taken much more of it, especially since United lost 7-0. that is beyond frustrating or embarrassing, etc. just fucking pathetic.
we went to Rite Aid this afternoon. i got my COVID updated booster shot finally. mom was getting that as well as starting her shingles vaccine. the pharmacist recently graduated from college, so you could tell he wasn't exactly comfortable at giving the shots just yet. and then i fucked with him when i told him mom was a former nurse. he got pretty fucking nervous then. but, we got the shots and some things we needed from Rite Aid. by the time we got back home, the guy that mom called to fix our mailbox was just finishing up. he was hoping mom was going to pay cash, but she wisely never has much cash here. so he took the check and i'm pretty sure he's going to get it cashed somewhere today.

Manchester United has finally won another trophy. it had been nearly 6 years since they had won anything. and given that this day is the anniversary of my stepfather dying 21 years ago, i am really, really happy they won the League Cup today over Newcastle, 2-0.
here are your links for this day of Black History Month:
the Dayton Flyers lost yesterday at home to George Mason, 74-69. Dayton played like shit for most of the game and what usually happens in one of these games, they played down to their competition yet again. they never took advantage of George Mason having their best player in foul trouble. Dayton missed way too many free throws and had way too many turnovers in crucial moments of the game. this also brings me back to the point i have always made about Anthony Grant. he isn't the type of coach that knows how to have his players take absolute control of a game when it is there to be taken. sadly, there is a time as an athlete where you have to have the mentality of stepping on a neck and eliminating any hope. it has been 6 years and Dayton still doesn't have that ability. and don't get me started about when Anthony Grant coaches against other black coaches, especially the ones that look up to him and respect him. just because you are admired doesn't mean you aren't allowed to beat them by 20 or 30 points. they play LaSalle on Tuesday. if they don't win that game, that means they will have to win at Saint Louis to secure the double bye in the A10 tournament.
i did watch plenty of the MLS games last night. i love the MLS 360 on Apple TV. that should do wonders for the viewing experience for the league.
