so, i was helping my mother pay her bills today when i noticed on her DIRECTV bill that we could get Paramount+ with our account now. after i got all the bills paid, i investigated that. after a little figuring shit out, i was able to get Paramount+ on the TV in the living room and on my phone. at least now if the war between the local CBS and DIRECTV isn't solved by Sunday, we can still watch the Super Bowl on the Paramount+ app. and since there is no charge for it, i will definitely take advantage of all the soccer on the app. that was a very welcome surprise today.
the New York Rangers won last night in OT at home against Colorado, 2-1. i am hoping that will be the victory that gets them going again.
here are your videos for this day of Black History Month:
Monday Night Raw was good last night.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be NXT, Inside the NFL and Name That Tune.
the Dayton Flyers play tonight at Saint Joe's. hopefully the boys will find a way to win.
i should be on here tomorrow after i get the grocery shopping done.
i need to get all the trash picked up and figure out dinner...
until tomorrow kids...

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
so, i was watching my shows last night when i noticed the shows on Showtime didn't record. i turned to the channel and it was just a black screen. so, instead of just figuring out how to reboot the system myself, i contacted DirecTV. big mistake. once i rebooted the main receiver, Showtime came back on. and then, 2 minutes later, i had something pop up on the screen saying i was using more locations than allowed. 3 techs later, i was told this happened because the main receiver wasn't picking up the other mini receivers. i asked if it had anything to do with the reboot and they said no. i laughed, as this was the first time this has ever happened. so, after fucking around with everything for almost 60 minutes, everything was back to normal. of course, this also meant if i was going to watch the shows now, i was going to be up past 3 AM. i'm a sucker for pain. i used to love DirecTV but quite frankly, ever since AT&T got involved, straight downhill.
i enjoyed all the shows last night. Big Brother was pretty funny, as paranoia is finally settling in at the house.
The Night Of was great. i love a show with a good slow build. Ballers was good. Vice Principals was fucking hilarious.
Power was fucking great. Ray Donovan was crazy. Roadies was really good once again.
the New York Yankees amazingly won last night, 3-1, avoiding the sweep to Boston. they start a series tonight at home against Baltimore. if they lose this series, i have to think they will start trading off players.
enjoy some music:
and now some of this and that:
nothing on the DVR tonight as i will be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
it was raining when i woke up this morning. nothing quite like pain after 3 hours of sleep. i've tried to get my back to loosen up for most of the day. no luck. i hope my mother is ready for the bitching when she gets home.
i was a little shocked at the trade the New York Rangers made today. i hate to see Derick Brassard leave, but they are getting someone back that is younger, cheaper, and i think just as good. that should open up the money to sign the rest of the restricted free agents and gives them an extra second round pick next year to help get younger. enjoy your time in Ottawa Brassy, you were always a good one. welcome to the team Mika Zibanejad.
i do encourage all of you to take advantage of the Punk Chapbook Series. $40 for 12 books is a fucking steal. and honestly, and i'm not saying this because i'm included, it's a great list of writers involved. for more info, go to: http://www.epicrites.org/
so i read more about the shooter yesterday in Baton Rouge. i'm curious if this country is ever going to have a conversation about mentally ill veterans anytime EVER. given the fact that my father was in Vietnam and died of Dementia, i have a pretty good background on this shit. and honestly, if we are really fucking serious about stopping mass shootings and whatnot, the first thing we have to fix is the mental health system. if that doesn't get fixed, it won't fucking matter what gun laws you change or what barriers you put up to stop this shit from happening. of course, we won't have that discussion about mental health because no one wants to accept the blame for fucking over generation after generation of people who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
when mom and i went to the grocery store today, i feared it was going to take hours. knowing that not only were we buying for ourselves, we were also buying for next door, i knew it was possible. when we walked out of the store 2 1/2 hours after we walked in, i was exhausted. i feel bad for my uncle. when i saw him today, you can definitely see that all of this shit is weighing on him. thankfully, the weather is supposed to get warmer next week. i think all he wants to do is sit on the back porch in the sun. and i said to my mother today, fuck it, why stop him. none of us are under any illusion that he's going to be here for another 10 years or so. the sad thing is my aunt is completely useless. i can't imagine she'll be around long after my uncle dies. or maybe that's just my wishful thinking.
saw a few people in the grocery store that got the creative juices running. but i chose to take a nap this afternoon instead of writing. i needed it.
thankfully, my opponents in fantasy football last night only had Miami Dolphins players, so i'm not trailing too bad going into Sunday. the Patriots killed them last night. i did pick the game right.
i also watched an incredible penalty shootout in the MLS last night.
DIRECTV pissed the living shit out of me last night. for some fucking reason our NHL package wasn't working. we were just watching it the day before. mom went online and it didn't even appear on our bill any longer. when she finally got a hold of an actual person, they couldn't explain it either. we have had so many god damn problems ever since AT&T took them over. just fucking perfect.
enjoy some music kids:
and now some of this and that:
on the DVR tonight will be Undateable, NJPW and The Knick.
the New York Rangers play tonight against Toronto. i really hope the Rangers win as i could use a victory beer.
i believe the Sacramento Kings face the Lakers tonight. i suppose if i'm up late, i'll watch some of that late. my rule with NBA games is all you really need to watch is the last 5 minutes of any game, including playoffs.
i'm going the cheap way for Flashback Friday today. here's one of my YouTube videos:
i listened to Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast last night. i highly recommend it.
you can find the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, notsam.com and on the right hand side of this blog.
i will be on here tomorrow, probably after the Manchester United game. hopefully i will be in a good mood.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. enjoy scaring the shit out of children or just eating candy.

Alabama Shakes - You Ain't Alone (Live)
Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble - Life Without You (Live)
"I have never known anyone worth a damn who wasn't irascible." - Ezra Pound
let me start this out with a little confession. i completely forgot to do my little flashback Friday portion yesterday. and since that is now 2 weeks in a row i have forgot, i'm going to make it the whenever the fuck i remember flashback. so, here are two poems that i really enjoy. "trash" is a poem i wrote while walking the streets of Chicago when i was 22 years old. i was with my sister and her friend. i believe i ended up writing the poem in the margin of a place mat at the House of Blues. and it is one of my most published poems. you can find it by going here: http://figmentofyourowncontamination.blogspot.com/2010/09/trash-jj-campbell.html
i believe whatever my mom had yesterday i had this morning. good times.
the New York Yankees lost 2-1 last night in 10 innings. why Girardi had a rookie pitching to the heart of the Blue Jays order i'll never fucking understand. they play again this afternoon. the division lead is now down to 3 1/2 games.
NJPW was excellent last night. of course anytime you get to watch AJ Styles, Nakamura and Okada wrestle, it is a treat.
Treehouse Masters was good last night. it was interesting to see how far that industry has come in 15 years.
i'd like to thank Directv for helping us figure out what was wrong with our one remote. now that i know what buttons to push, i won't have to make that call again.
enjoy some music kids:
i didn't stay up that late last night, as i wanted to get some sleep. of course, that didn't happen. so here's some funny shit:
now i'm fucking hungry.
i was up and eating breakfast as the Manchester United game was starting this morning. you could tell that United had a bunch of new faces in new places as everyone was cautious as hell to start the match. but thank you to a Kyle Walker own goal (first time in Premier League history the first goal of a season was an own goal) United was up 1-0 at half. and thank you to Sergio Romero for keeping it that way in the second half. all in all, i'll gladly take the 3 points. the squad will get better over time. but i still say they need another striker and another central defender. that being said, i'll go enjoy my victory beer.
i'm supposed to go to an alumni soccer game tonight. hopefully i feel better by then as it would be nice to see some people i know. this is one of the misfortunes of not being on Facebook. of course, i remember that i was only popular in high school because i always had drugs and alcohol around. when that graces my head every now and then, i know it's not a misfortune at all.
on the DVR tonight will be Power and ROH.
i did a little work outside this morning with my mother. we needed to help this young tree that is getting destroyed by all the fucking rain we've had this summer. i'm hoping the stake and some velcro rope made for trees will do the trick. plus, some of the bird feeders needed some fresh food and the weeds needed pulled. all in all, other than listening to the neighbor talk about church, it wasn't that bad outside.
that's all for me today. i hope everyone is doing well. go have a great weekend. call if you need bail money or help burying a body.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

i woke up to the news this morning that the woman i have sat next to for the last decade or so at the Dayton basketball games died last week. she was in the Hall of Fame at the school. she also took care of me when i broke my foot in 7th grade playing basketball. needless to say, i've known her for a long damn time. you will be missed PJ. rest in peace.
mom wanted to go over to the farm for a final time today. she wanted to see what was set out for the auction tomorrow. i think both of us just wanted to get a final look at it. i did bring my camera.
i actually did see a cat while i was there. the cat Batman has survived. it's not a friendly cat, so i didn't bother to try to track it down. but, it did find the food i put out yesterday. hopefully that helps it survive a little longer. i know damn well that after June 11th, not much of anything will have a chance to survive on that farm.
time for a quick music break:
the New York Yankees whipped one of the best pitchers in baseball last night 7-2. Tex had the big hit with a grand slam. hopefully they can keep it going tonight up in Seattle.
Monday Night Raw was barely average last night. other than the interchange between Kevin Owens and John Cena, the rest of the show didn't do much for me.
i did like the podcast afterwards with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Paul Heyman:
on the DVR tonight will be Deadliest Catch.
here's some late night funnies for you:
so we got a new receiver from Directv today. i went to hook it up and of course, i was having problems. so mom called the help line. we got this woman who obviously was more interested in having a conversation with the other ladies in the room than helping us. if she would have told me the trick to do when the remote is acting up at the beginning, this 50 minute call would have been around 15. eventually, everything started to work correctly again. needless to say, i believe we'll be going the online route for help from now on. fuck me running.
mom leaves for Columbus tomorrow for a nursing conference. i'll be home alone. i'm hoping it won't be raining so i won't be completely fucking miserable. i'll probably spend most of the day doing my laundry. i'm way behind in that.
that's all for me today. i've got trash to pick up and a bad back that is calling for some ice.
be well. be creative. be cool. be quick to send me CASH, panties, hate mail, love letters, broken promises and dirty pennies from heaven.

Death from Above 1979 - Virgins
Villagers - The Soul Serene
The Holydrug Couple - Baby, I'm Going Away
Matt Skiba and the Sekrets - She Wolf
Bon Iver - Skinny Love
"I think it's important to encourage gluttony in all its formats." - Lydia Lunch
the sun decided to take the day off here, so it has been nothing but a little rain and clouds all day long. just another day of misery for me.
the plumbers showed up this morning to put a new whole house water filter in, put in new parts for the old toilet, and put in a new well pump. amazingly, it was all done for under $2,000. now, the fun was holding a shit until we got water back on. i knew i should have woke up earlier this morning. but, it seems to be all working now. hopefully it stays that way until we move from here. mom is just sure the water heater will be the next to go. i, on the other hand, just want to get my laundry done tomorrow.
talked to the dream woman a little bit this morning. we're trying to figure out when to meet. not easy when i'm poor and she insists on me paying for part of her ticket. of course, and she lives in Alaska. i once joked with my mother that i'm only here for the amusement of god. i believe this is further proof.
the Yankees lost last night 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth. they can't win the division any longer and both wild cards are illusions at this point. the rest of this season will simply be to watch the final games of Derek Jeter.
Monday Night Raw was a bit of hit and miss for me last night, sadly with more on the miss side. not sure that was the show you should put together right before the next PPV.
the football game last night was pretty good. it would have been even better if i would have started the running back from the Eagles that went off last night for over 20 fantasy points. it wouldn't have made a difference for me, but losing by 20 is much better than losing by 46.
if my luck in fantasy football keeps going this way, this may be the first season in all my years of playing that i finish in last place. i'm way too competitive to just let that happen, but sometimes it just isn't your season.
looking forward to Big Brother tonight. hopefully i get to see a fucking sociopath get evicted.
it was a little difficult watching the Champions League today knowing that Manchester United is not a part of it this season. well, it does give me something to take an afternoon nap to.
i forgot one thing from my yesterday bitch fest, DIRECTV changed their Sunday Ticket package on me. so, no more Red Zone Channel for me as i refuse to pay an extra $18 a month for something i got for FREE for the last 10 years. so, i'll be watching the Game Mix Channel, which has 8 games on it at a time. talk about speeding up my descent into madness.
got some good music on NoiseTrade today. i'll provide the link below.
that is all for me today. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

i am a man (stop laughing) that loves history. but i don't particularly enjoy going back and revisiting or revising or even rewriting history. and considering that today is the 50th year anniversary of JFK being assassinated, it was a little hard to escape. don't get me wrong, history in the moment i will eat with a damn spoon. take 9/11 for instance, i didn't sleep for a week. i had the tv on every second of every day just devouring the news. but, 10 years later, i didn't think about it longer than a few minutes. i know about the past, i'm not too fond of living in it. sadly, i'm not sure i can say the same for many people; today being one of the greatest examples of drowning in nostalgia.
now, all that being said, i did observe the moment of silence today. and then i went back to stuffing my face with food.
was a little bummed when i read today that John Prine has been diagnosed with lung cancer. they believe they caught it early, but how many damn times can one man beat that disease? here's one of my favorites from him:
on to better news... i really enjoyed The Big Bang Theory last night. the writing on that show consistently amazes me.
the New York Rangers got an incredible performance from The King last night. Rick Nash scored his first goal of the season. all in a 3-2 much needed win. highlights below:
i picked the NFL game correctly last night, but i was torn. the QB for New Orleans is my fantasy QB for my NFL.com team. but, he's my opponent's QB in my CBS Sports.com league. quite the dilemma. i have a 23 point lead in one and a 30 point deficit to make up in the other. it will be a stressful weekend to say the least.
and the weather is going to turn here with lows in the teens. lovely.
i think i'm going to try to watch an interview with Gary Clark Jr. this evening on DIRECTV. other than that, i will probably be checking the internet to see how the high school i graduated from is doing in the high school football playoffs. one win away from another trip to the final 4.
that's all for me. i will probably be back on here sometime before Ohio State plays tomorrow. hope everyone has a great weekend.
music:
Foy Vance - Joy of Nothing
Bruce Springsteen - The Essential Bruce Springsteen

first, where my weekend left off from the previous post. Saturday Night Live had a few good moments but most of the show was just so so. ROH was spectacular. if i could have found more time this weekend, i would have watched it all over again.
now, for my Sunday... spent most of the day under a Tornado Watch. luckily, all we got was some wind and a ton of rain. no flooding, but the ditch was full. i did see a few branches down as i was taking down the trash 45 minutes ago.
my fantasy football day was beyond frustrating. not many touchdowns and way too many injuries. that being said, i still managed to win one of my matches. the other one will take a miracle on Monday Night Football.
the New York Rangers lost to the Kings 1-0. i watched enough of the game to know they had plenty of chances to win, just ran into a hot goalie. shit happens. the good news is Rick Nash will be back in the lineup soon.
the Sunday night shows were good. Boardwalk Empire had a few lovely twists at the end of the show. Eastbound and Down made me howl at the last few minutes. holy shit cameos and the perfect way to end the show. Homeland was brilliant, especially with the ending. Masters of Sex was pretty good but to be honest, by that point my eyes were trying to close on me. Total Divas made me laugh out loud. just the fucked up lives of professional wrestlers i suppose.
kudos to DIRECTV for the alert system they have. it certainly got my fucking attention when the tornado warning went up. i don't believe any twisters hit around here but i know Indiana and Illinois got hit pretty hard. i suppose when i wake up here in a few hours i'll get a better sense of the damage.
right now, i'm just hoping the trash stays in one place and i am asleep in the next 10 minutes.
hope everyone had a great weekend, all things considered. i'm off to go find a warm blanket as this cold front has dropped the temps by 30 degrees.
music:
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Live from Alabama
Tei Shi - Saudade

so i got up this morning ready for the return of the Premier League. hats off to NBC for their coverage of it. i truly love being able to see any of the matches. but the one i paid the most attention to started at 12:30. i had heard for the last week or so how Manchester United was going to fail this season, all the turmoil, lack of player signings, etc etc. so, all they do is go out at the team that finished 9th last season and win 4-1. 2 goals from RvP and 2 goals from Welbeck. Rooney played about 30 minutes and had 2 assists. it's rather obvious that he wants to be elsewhere from his body language. it is also really apparent that the club isn't going to sell him. as long as they win, i couldn't care less. a great start to the season.
the Yankees won last night in Boston 10-3. i had to laugh as Alfonso Soriano stayed hotter than hot with another HR and 4 RBI. Mark Reynolds, recently let go from the Indians, mostly because he hadn't hit a HR in 2 months, goes deep in his first at bat for the Yankees. if they can get some pitching and a few guys can stay hot over a month or so, i really think this team has a chance to make the playoffs. first time i have felt that all season. due to the stupid blackout rules, i'll only be able to follow today's game online. i figure i'll check in from time to time.
i do plan on watching some UFC tonight as i found Fox Sports 1 on DIRECTV this morning. so i have yet another sports channel to occupy my time. i also plan on watching ROH late tonight. an evening of combat.
hats off to my friend Sam Roberts, Professional Broadcaster, for the great interviews he's getting out in Los Angeles. go to his YouTube channel and check them out. http://www.youtube.com/user/notsam
that's all for today. i have a fridge full of beer and i'm going to go enjoy a great victory.
hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start.
music:
The Dirty Guv'nahs - Somewhere Beneath These Southern Skies
"Give me a smart idiot over a stupid genius any day." - Samuel Goldwyn
the power went out today. it was planned so the power company could upgrade some lines. it was supposed to be out for 1 hour. it was out for 3 minutes. you can imagine how happy i was as i was resetting all the fucking clocks in the house after that.
actually went to the grocery store today for the first time in a long time. but, it was just like the old days for me. get in and get out. i suppose i spent more time in the beer aisle than anywhere else. typical crazy guy cart: milk, beer, sunflower seeds, finch feeder, 3 bags of kitty litter, and some car cleaning supplies. i believe i have this recluse thing down now.
the Yankees tried to give away the sweep yesterday but ultimately won 9-5. they play Baltimore here in a few minutes. hopefully they have some revenge on their mind for this weekend.
critter update: i have figured out why the groundhog went missing. we now have 1 adult groundhog and 3 babies. just fucking great. also, my cat A Boy Named Sue somehow was able to hide a kitten from me for 6 months or so (i'm guessing from the size of it). needless to say i'm hoping the coyotes get busy real soon out here.
today was the start of free agency for the NHL. the New York Rangers made 2 minor moves. i was hoping they were going to get their restricted free agents signed today, but so far nothing on that front. there were a few surprises and a bunch of bad contracts. thankfully, the Rangers haven't made that mistake (yet).
i did watch that Philly Jam the Roots put on last night in Philadelphia. that was really good. a pretty diverse group of musicians.
i have to figure out what i'm eating for dinner tonight and what i'm going to watch if the Yankees start pissing me off. the beauty of DIRECTV i have found, i can usually find something.
i have a feeling this may end up being one of my infamous late night writing or painting sessions that end with a shower at 4 in the morning. if that happens, i will try to share the details sometime tomorrow.
my mother and sister made it down to South Carolina without any problems and seem to be having some fun. hopefully they bring me back something nice.
i hope everyone has a great weekend. now back to your regularly scheduled programming...
also, i hope you enjoy the 2 podcasts i added to the right side of the page...
music today:
Warren Haynes Band - Live at the Moody Theater
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." - Edgar Degas
my back felt much better this morning. i'm wondering if it was the victory beer from last night that made the difference. perhaps. it certainly wasn't a good night of sleep, i can tell you that much.
lets start with some good news. team USA had a stunning 2-1 victory last night in Jamaica. the first time they have EVER won there in World Cup Qualifying. and how they won was truly delicious. Brad Evans picked one hell of a time to have his first goal for his country. i would love to post the highlights here but currently YouTube and Blogger seem to be speaking different languages. check out the highlights on YouTube using this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFVtb4G_pic
i then went from that high to watching the Yankees offense disappear once again and lose 4-1. i would hate to be a pitcher for the team on these kind of nights. when you have to be damn near perfect to even have a chance to win. it's bad enough that the pitcher who won for Seattle won for the first time in 3 fucking years. so much for the winning streak. and of course i'll be watching in a few hours. a glutton for punishment...
i'll be watching if Chicago beats the Kings tonight to set up an original six Stanley Cup Finals. Boston did their part last night sweeping Pittsburgh out of the playoffs. i had a good laugh with the look on the faces of Crosby and Malkin and the rest of those assholes.
i'll probably watch a little horse racing as well later today. no triple crown to win but it should be interesting to see what happens. the favorite should win as it is the horse's home track.
throw in a little ROH this evening and whatever live music i can find on the numerous music channels i have on DIRECTV and i once again have a full plate in front of me.
i did watch most of the women's final at the French Open this morning. mostly because tennis was a sport i loved as a kid and actually excelled at. that usually shocks the shit out of people. and secondly because i have always found Serena Williams to be incredibly sexy. and there is the second shocker to most people; my love of black women. spend most of your schooling in a black school system and you will understand it. too many fond memories to simply turn my back on or ignore.
a pretty cloudy day here so far. it's not supposed to rain, but i don't trust the fuckers who do the weather here for anything.
and lastly, my mother's birthday gifts came in well before amazon.com said they would. that company continues to outperform my expectations time after time.
i hope everyone is in the middle of a great weekend. or at least with a cold drink in your hand and not one single care in your mind.
music today:
Icona Pop - Iconic EP
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Emeli Sande - Our Version Of Events
"It's so long since I've had sex I've forgotten who ties up who." - Joan Rivers
i woke up at 6 this morning, expecting the worse. when i went to sleep, they figured the storms would be getting here right around 6. i guess my body clock has an alarm set for disaster. amazingly, the storms, just like everything else that enters this state, pretty much died out when it got to the state line. just a steady rain so far this morning. good for the crops. much better than the inch of rain we got in a little over 10 minutes yesterday. my only fear is once this rain passes, we are expected to have a lull. during that lull it is supposed to get very hot and muggy. that's not good. as long as what fires up this afternoon is nothing like the end of world shit they got yesterday in Oklahoma... when the guy from the Weather Channel said he saw his life pass in front of his eyes, as much as it was fascinating television, it was spooky as all fuck. the knot in my stomach has died down a bit. i've still got all my shit together, just in case...
a big thank you to the muse for some good words last night. it is an absolute pleasure to have you back in my life.
the Yankees got some great pitching last night from CC (first win in over a month, 10 K's no BB) and just enough offense to win 4-1. a much needed victory to put the world back on its axis. not sure how much of tonight's game i'll watch (i'm assuming it's going to be a black-out here) but i would love to see them start winning again. just a game out of first.
i believe later this morning i'll be going with my mother up to Columbus to drop some stuff off to my sister. hopefully we can get there and back during the lull.
and if the storms don't knock out the power or the DIRECTV, i'll be bouncing between playoff hockey and playoff basketball this evening. i'm hoping for some entertaining games to take my mind off of everything for at least a few hours.
i did watch Chicharito score 2 goals last night for Mexico. that was about the only thing that took my attention away from the Yankees and the Weather Channel.
that's all for this morning. i really hope to not have to write anything until tomorrow.
music today:
Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble - Blues At Sunrise
Old Crow Medicine Show - O.C.M.S.
"It's often just enough to be with someone. I don't need to touch them. Not even talk. A feeling passes between you both. You're not alone." - Marilyn Monroe
so, i was sitting there eating a bowl of cereal for lunch and the breaking news music started playing on the NHL Network. i look up and see that Marian Gaborik has been traded from the New York Rangers to Columbus. i believe holy shit was the first thing that came to my mind. then i saw what the Rangers got in return, and then i was really like holy shit. i love the trade from the side of the financial freedom it gives the team this summer and the quick addition of depth to the team immediately. when you add in they got Ryane Clowe yesterday as well for draft picks, i believe all these moves will make the Rangers a tougher team to play against IF they make the playoffs. but, seeing that Gaborik is the second player from my fantasy team to get traded, i quickly had to go check the Columbus schedule and adjust my fantasy lineups. if he's playing on the first line and getting over 20 minutes a night, it should work out fine.
all that being said, i will be interested to see how the Rangers play tonight against Pittsburgh. this is yet another MUST WIN game, especially seeing they are not in a playoff position right now.
as an afterthought, the Yankees play the Red Sox tonight. i imagine the Rangers will play like shit enough at times that i will flip over to the baseball game. or, i'll flip to the new show Rogue that is debuting tonight on DIRECTV. good to have options i suppose.
my poet of the day on my Google+ page is John Sweet. John is by far my favorite living poet and i urge all of you to do yourself a favor and find his work. and more importantly, if you can afford it, buy his books. you can find a good number of them here: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/bleedinghorse99
staying on the poetry front, i did write a new poem this morning. seeing the subject matter was about me being molested as a child, i was kind of surprised when i didn't mind fuck myself all day long after writing about it, again. perhaps i'm getting better at this shit finally. i'm planning on submitting that poem, maybe later this week or next. i'll keep you updated on where it goes.
in other news, i need to do my laundry soon, the raccoon struck again last night and the sun has been out all day long. but temps in the 30's is not exactly what i call spring. it's supposed to warm up this weekend, but i'm not holding my damn breath.
be well. peace and chicken grease.

i woke up this morning to the same persistent fuck me winds i went to sleep with. and some blowing snow. went out to feed the cats and it felt like it was in the teens. i get it mother nature, you're a bad motherfucker. enough already.
one thing that DIRECTV does during these major storms is take an extra channel and devote it to all local coverage of the storm. so, as you can imagine, the majority of my day has been spent watching that.
not sure how the friends i have in Queens or New Jersey are doing. i'm hoping ok. i figure when the power comes back on they will find the emails.
NBA season starts tonight. i'll try to catch some of that to take my eyes away from storm damage coverage. plus, a part of me will love seeing LeBron get his ring. i always love a good heel.
love the knockout round on The Voice. great new element to the show. should be an interesting second night. that said, the live shows can't come soon enough.
hope everyone is well.

woke up at 6 AM. i wasn't exactly thrilled considering i went to bed only 4 hours earlier, but i knew i had plenty to do.
got my fantasy shit done, fed the cats (much earlier than they like it), ate breakfast, and got the trash all picked up before Manchester United played.
given all the emotion going into this game, i figured Manchester United would be in for it. and they played pretty much how i thought they would. but a nice red card on Liverpool near the end of the first half got my hopes up. i took down the trash at halftime only to come back into the house to see Liverpool score. fuck me. thankfully, that was the wake up call. 5 minutes later Rafael scores a fucking beauty to tie it up. then, holy smokes, Valencia draws a penalty kick. RvP steps up and finally makes one. very happy they got the 3 points. and honestly, any time i can see Liverpool in misery, i'm even happier.
after that, a quick shower and some lounging around before the NFL games started. now, keep in mind, i've been dealing with a bleeding asshole for the last 2 days. so imagine trying to keep up with my fantasy stats, which DirecTV does a marvelous job of doing, while making trips to the bathroom. fuck, forgot to turn up the volume loud enough, etc etc. as for the games (admit it, you still have that visual in your mind), i have no fucking clue how i'm winning 2 of the 3 games. i did my worst job so far picking games. i need Green Bay to win on Monday night just to finish above .500. but, i've done this long enough to appreciate being surprised when checking the stats around midnight.
didn't watch probably more than 10 minutes of the Yankees today. given that they lost and had 3 errors, i doubt i missed anything. thankfully, Baltimore lost as well. 1 game up with 10 to go. if they fuck this up, they only have themselves to blame. series against the Twins coming up. step on the throat early and make it easy on yourselves for once.
i have a nice long day of mowing grass in store for me. 6 hours of sunshine and dust. i really hope this will be the last mow of the season. and i really hope the bleeding has subsided long before i'm 3 hours into sitting on my ass.
and with that lovely thought dancing in your heads...

i'm in a bit of a weird head space at the moment. read the newspaper a few hours ago and came across the news that the father of one of my ex-girlfriends died yesterday. so, now i'm sinking in a flood of memories. for the few of you that have known me forever, this is the father of the older Portuguese woman i was madly in love with 15 years ago. the odd part is that Dianna and i haven't spoke in over 11 years now. to go from best friends to incommunicado for over a decade hasn't been an easy pill to swallow. that being said, i'm truly sorry for your loss. my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. i would type here if you need anything... but you're still married so i'm not expecting these shoulders to be used. but, the number and address are the same, just in case...
it's getting ready to rain here. could be bad storms, could be drizzle. i don't trust any of these fuckers with the weather anymore. as long as the power stays on and the DIRECTV signal stays strong, i'm good.
torn on if i should watch the Yankees tonight or not. the last time Baltimore was competitive was 15 years ago. and i'm already in that head space to begin with. i only like one mind fuck at a time. but, i don't see me watching the stand up to cancer shit tonight and further depressing myself. i've lost too many loved ones to that hideous disease. i'm hoping to check out Nick & Artie debuting on DIRECTV tonight. go to www.nickandartie.com for more information.
other than that, who knows. maybe i'll just thrown on some Coltrane and watch it rain. yeah, that should really pump me up for the music festival tomorrow. reminds me of a homeless guy i met when i was 17 in downtown Dayton. we were smoking some cigarettes together and he noticed i was bummed out. girl problems as normal. he laughed. told me that's what i fucking get for having feelings. that kind of stuck with me. do i become cold or do i accept the pain?
i believe we already know the answer.
if i happen to take any photos or have any great stories to tell from the festival, i will post them over the weekend or on Monday.

"I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later." - Mitch Hedberg
it's so ungodly sticky today. reminds me of my only trip to Florida as a child. was at a Days Inn in the Orlando area where one half of the hotel was in a thunderstorm and the other half was in the sun. we haven't got nearly as much rain as i would have loved to... but the holiday weekend is still young.
woke up this morning with my back in the normal pain for shitty weather. the pain in my left leg i couldn't figure out. given my past history with blood clots, there's always that haunting feeling in the back of my head. i did some stretching on my left hip and that seemed to do the trick. i figure given my luck, 36 and here comes arthritis. of course, the fun didn't really start until i was going out to feed the cats and the water jug i take out with me fell as i was changing my shoes and broke. water all over the mud room. just what i fucking need.
after breakfast watched Manchester United play. of course they didn't score first, but RvP comes to the rescue again. and of course they give up the next goal 10 minutes into the second half. now, i learned a lesson long ago watching Eric Cantona play that the magic always comes, but it will test your will to live until it does. so after RvP misses a pk (too cheeky for my liking) Sir Alex stands up, points at the watch and gives the look. and holy shit, for the millionth time i guess, here come the late goals. RvP with a garbage one and then the sweet header in extra time for a 3-2 win. 4 goals in 3 games. i guess the money was well spent.
so, while enjoying the post victory beer, i turn on the Yankees. they get off to a quick lead but given how this season has gone, that doesn't mean shit. Phil Hughes gives up a home run, but they get that run back the next inning. why Hughes was allowed to pitch to the same guy that homered off of him with runners on base is fucking beyond me. of course he hits a 3 run homer. and after the Yankees needed 5 fucking pitchers to get 3 outs in an inning, i turned away in disgust. what a fucking waste. now they have 7 games in a row on the road against the 2 teams on their heels. if they still have the division lead a week from now i'll be stunned.
thankfully, during the Yankee debacle it was another CR7 & Messi Sunday. a total treat to watch 2 of the greatest talents in the world put on another show. CR7 had 2 goals for Real Madrid. Messi was in passing mode but his teammates didn't have the precision dialed up today. Barcelona still won but it was bowling shoe ugly at times. of course, that is the blueprint against them if you want to have a chance.
tonight, i'm hoping it will rain to break the death grip humidity going on. but not hard enough to fuck with my DIRECTV signal. if it does, i guess i'll be working on my 3 fantasy football teams. i know 2 of them are good right from the start. i've already been offered trades. hopefully it's more than just wishful thinking on paper this year.

so, i got in this morning from feeding the cats and birds just as Manchester United was getting scored on. fucking great, this is going to be a long day i start thinking. thankfully, RvP decides he's going to pull a spectacular goal out from his ass and sets Old Trafford on fire. 2 more goals in the first half from the boys and i'm feeling good. then the usual try to not lose instead of trying to win costs them and their shitty, shitty injury filled defense. they win 3-2 but it wouldn't be a Manchester United game without an injury. a nasty, nasty, NASTY gash to Wayne Rooney's thigh. seriously, i'm talking fucking shark week nasty here. early reports are he's going to be out a month. just fucking great.
scouted out a few new places to send poetry to and did the dishes between soccer matches from Italy, Spain and Germany. thank you DIRECTV.
and then the Yankees. after watching Tampa Bay lose earlier in the day, here's a great chance to stretch the lead a bit. of course, Kuroda has one bad inning and the Yankees only can muster one fucking hit with runners in scoring position (out of the 9 damn at bats they had) and lose 3-1. this will go down in the wasted opportunity column if they blow the division this year. at least they were kind enough to get the damn game over in under 3 hours.
kind of shocked Magic Johnson would do something good for Boston, apparently hell has frozen over. hopefully the Red Sox blow that quarter of a billion dollars they are saving in the trade on more shitty players. makes it more fun for this Yankee fan.
