trying to sleep through a thunderstorm...

we had some pretty strong storms come through here last night. i know i didn't sleep well. when i woke up, the comforter was on the floor and the body pillow i have at the top of my bed was behind my back. the joy of tossing and turning all night.

the Yankees lost last night at Baltimore, 1-0. yet another Gerrit Cole outing wasted. hopefully, they will win tonight.

Smackdown and NXT Level Up were both pretty good last night.

AEW Rampage was pretty good last night as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be AEW Collision.

i will probably watch some of the Leagues Cup tonight and maybe some of the UFC as well.

i've got the first line to my next poem stuck in my head. hopefully, i will be able to flush that out sometime today.

i have no damn clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday.

one of those Sunday mornings...

i got a little sleep last night, mostly because i stayed up late and watched the MLS game between Columbus and Cincinnati. Columbus won 4-0.

ROH was pretty good last night.

i watched some of the UFC last night.

i also went through more of my baseball cards last night. i think i have one person so far that might be interested in buying some cards. hopefully.

i did watch some of the TBT yesterday. i will definitely be watching today as the finals will be determined with the 2 games today. i am really hoping Red Scare can continue their good play and make it to the finals.

i cooked breakfast this morning. for some reason, i can cook eggs really well and seemingly struggle with everything else. although, the chicken i made last night was pretty good.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of Hightown, Black Monday, The Chi, Desus & Mero, Perry Mason and I'll Be Gone in the Dark.

i was hoping to watch the MLS game this morning, but it got postponed. COVID-19 wins again. i did watch some of Arsenal and Tottenham this morning.

i saw the news yesterday that Aroldis Chapman of the Yankees has the virus. hopefully, he hasn't given it to anyone else on the team.

i will hopefully be on here tomorrow before Manchester United plays. if not, here is a preview of their game:

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. hopefully your Sunday will be even better.

hazy hot and humid. must be summer...

when i went out to get the newspaper this morning, i could feel the humidity already. i knew it was going to be one of those days where it would be best spent just sleeping. oh well.

i laughed when i took my blood sugar this morning. i had a nice stiff drink last night for Manchester United's win, and sure enough, my blood sugar was the lowest it had been in 5 weeks. i told my mother, yet another example why i was supposed to be an alcoholic.

ROH was good last night.

UFC was very good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Black Monday, The Chi, the season finale of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Hightown, Perry Mason, I'll Be Gone in the Dark and Last Week Tonight.

i made biscuits and gravy for breakfast this morning. i think tonight is going to be some ribs, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. mom has another order from Omaha Steaks coming. i'm trying to make sure she's eating what she wants when she feels like shit. i tell her a morphine drip is probably the best thing for her. she won't listen to me.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.

i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow.

way harder than it needed to be...

i was a little surprised that the Manchester United game was on television today. after watching the game, i almost wish it wouldn't have been as i didn't need that fucking stress. United defeated Norwich 2-1 in extra time to advance to the semifinals of the FA Cup. Harry Maguire scored near the death of extra time to win the game. Norwich was down to 10 men for all of extra time. i would have been beyond pissed if the worst team in the league would have forced them to penalties. oh well, i'll enjoy the alcohol tonight.

Smackdown and 205 Live were pretty good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was good last night. they are off for the next month i believe.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH. i'll probably watch some UFC tonight as well.

i did listen to the latest Blackburn Review podcast last night. you can find that by going here:
https://soundcloud.com/blackburn-review/off-season-6

it has rained on and off today. i think since yesterday we have had over an inch of rain so far. joy.

i need to vacuum the house and do my laundry, so that's all for me kids.

Happy (dead) Father's Day...

as many of you know, i did not have a good relationship with my father. i think he's been gone long enough now that he's simply a crutch for the poems when i'm stuck and can't think of anything to write. so, to all the good fathers out there, the ones that didn't punish their children by mentally abusing them or threatening to take them out of the world they brought them into; to the ones that didn't arrive late with an excuse to a championship match; to the ones that didn't steal all the college money playing the fucking lottery; to the ones that didn't blame a hit and run accident on their oldest child; to the ones that didn't forget birthdays; to the ones that didn't choose to work overtime instead of going home and enjoying the family... happy father's day.

i made the mistake last night to read the #speakingout stories on the internet last night regarding pro wrestling before going to bed. so many of the names involved are people i really respected and i was literally in tears reading those stories of abuse. as someone who has struggled to come to grips with it in my own past, i applaud each and everyone for coming forward as i know how fucking hard that can be. and honestly, the sooner we as a society get all this shit out into the open and treat sexual abuse, domestic abuse, etc. as seriously as it deserves to be treated, the better we are going to be in the future.

ROH was very good last night.

Austin City Limits was the Chris Stapleton episode i mistakenly deleted a few months ago.

i did watch the Belmont Stakes yesterday. i wasn't surprised with the winner of the race.

i watched some of the UFC last night as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of VICE, Perry Mason, Last Week Tonight, Hightown, The Chi and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.

i went to the store earlier today to pick up my prescriptions and get a few other things. i didn't know that Father's Day was all the moms take all the kids to the store day. it was way too fucking crowded for an early Sunday afternoon.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after i send some poems out.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.

i'm not waiting 3 hours for a haircut...

i thought for shits and giggles, i would check and see how long the wait was where i normally get my hair cut this morning. when i saw 181 minutes, i laughed out loud. i'm not waiting 3 hours to get a fucking haircut. so, hopefully the demand lessens in the next few days and i can get this monster growing on my head cut.

i wrote 4 poems last night. i typed them up shortly after a quick edit or two on them and really liked what i came up with. those 4 poems also finished up another notebook. i have this traveling case full of every notebook i have ever written in. that's roughly 25 years worth of material there. i figure it might be worth a few nickels when i die one day.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night.

Basketball County: In The Water was pretty good last night.

Betty was fucking hilarious last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Joker and ROH.

i did watch a little bit of the Bundesliga this morning. one thing about soccer, when it's two teams i really couldn't give a shit about, i'll fall asleep in no time.

i'll probably watch some of the UFC tonight, mostly because nothing else is on.

i'll probably be on here in the morning tomorrow, if i happen to get some decent sleep tonight. it rained a little today and i think more is on the way given that everyone has been mowing grass today.

i hope everyone has a good Saturday.

2020 strikes again...

as a music lover, i'm pretty gutted today. the deaths of Andre Harrell and Little Richard are two direct punches to the dick. all that late 80's and 90's R&B i loved was mostly all due to Andre Harrell. and 59 is just too young to go. as for Little Richard, as a music lover of rock music from the 60's.. you could obviously see the influence he had on the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. not to mention that Jerry Lee Lewis might as well have stolen his entire gimmick from Little Richard. 87 years of rock and roll. thanks for laying the foundation...

i wrote 3 poems last night. of course, i was up until 5 in the morning doing that. i typed them up after a nap and i really think they are good. i'd love to write a few more before i do my next round of submissions.

Smackdown and 205 Live were both pretty good last night. i'm really hoping Money in the Bank is going to be better than i'm hoping for on Sunday.

Betty was good last night.

Real Time with Bill Maher was pretty funny last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be the season finale of Saturday Night Live and ROH. i'll probably watch some of the UFC fights tonight and god knows what else.

i know once i get this done, i need to vacuum the house. fun, fun, fun.

so now it's snowing, what the @#%$...

so just my fucking luck, last night my sinuses blew up and i'm draining snot like a motherfucker. i guess it's a good thing i have a doctor's appointment on Monday.

the snow started this morning, thankfully after i got the newspaper. holy fuck, maybe the world is coming to an end.

my sister did make it down here. she's going to be here a few hours i think.

Smackdown last night was pretty interesting. i give the WWE credit for doing the show at the performance center with no fans and still making it entertaining.

205 Live was very good last night as well.

Real Time with Bill Maher was great last night.

The Trade was very interesting last night.

High Maintenance was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

i will probably watch that UFC event from Brazil this afternoon. and for some fucking reason, the Mexican league is still playing soccer, so i will probably watch that sometime today as well.

i'm really going to try to either get some more sleep today or get some poems written.

considering i started this day off coughing hard enough that i pissed my pants, there should be plenty of poems that need to get out of my head quickly.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. stay healthy.

apparently, the pain caught up with me

i spent most of last night helping the muse with some shitty life stuff. nothing a little gin doesn't cure i suppose. after she finally met up with some friends, i had a little writing session. i wrote 5 pretty dark poems. i haven't typed them up yet, because once i got done, i pretty much passed out. i think i slept for almost 7 fucking hours. so, there goes my plans for Saturday morning.

the New York Yankees were rained out last night. 8th fucking rain out this season. they will play a doubleheader today against the Royals. first game is at 1. the second game is at 7. hopefully, the Yankees will win both.

NJPW was pretty good last night.

Major League Wrestling was pretty good last night as well.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH.

this afternoon, Manchester United takes on Liverpool. i will be watching that and will hopefully not be too pissed off while doing it.

i figure at some point tonight, probably while flipping between baseball and the UFC, i'll type those poems up.

nothing quite like starting your Saturday off with two pills of Benadryl and two pills of Imodium. this should be a really fun trip to Meijer. this will be the last time mom gets out before she has the injection into her back. i'm hoping they have everything she's looking for.

and if you are wondering, my back is still in pain. i'm hoping some walking in the store will help it.

i'm not holding my breath though.

that's all for me kids. i'll be on here in the morning tomorrow. have a great Saturday.

sometimes the rain just will never end...

we got another 1.5 inches of rain last night and this morning. i basically drank myself to sleep last night and woke up 90 minutes after i went to bed. good times.

i did write 4 more poems after i finished the blog yesterday. 2 at night and 2 this morning. i typed up all 5 new ones and really think i have a few winners in this batch. that makes 45 poems for the month.

the New York Rangers lost last night to Minnesota 4-1. basically, the Rangers are an AHL team right now. they are playing the kids and it shows. i would rather take the lumps now if that means they will create a team that wins the Stanley Cup again before i die.

the Dayton Flyers were only trailing Rhode Island by 2 at halftime, 36-34. it seemed like when i wasn't watching the game last night, Dayton was playing better. so, i hoped that was going to work in the second half as well. silly me. Dayton was awful in the second half; shooting, turnovers, just fucking awful. Rhode Island won the A10 outright by defeating Dayton 81-56. now Dayton has to win the last two games of the regular season to finish the season at .500. i won't be holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

Celebrity Big Brother was pretty good last night. it was double eviction night. Brandi was the first to go. James was the second one to go. i didn't mind that, although i was hoping someone other than Omarosa was going to be the one to do it.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Vice News Tonight had another great week of shows.

Treehouse Masters was really good last night. i can't wait for the season finale next week.

High Maintenance was excellent last night.

2 Dope Queens was fucking hilarious last night. i really hope HBO brings this back in the future.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Celebrity Big Brother, ROH and Notes From the Field.

i did watch some of the Winter Olympics last night. i still can't believe the USA won Gold in Curling. and i did see Canada win Bronze this morning in men's hockey. i believe the gold medal game in hockey is tonight. i will probably catch some of that.

i think there is some UFC on tonight as well.

i will probably be on here tomorrow after Manchester United plays Chelsea. i'm hoping i will be in a good mood.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money.

apparently, it's monsoon season

i swear, for the last few days, just about every couple of hours there's a new rainstorm coming through. not exactly the greatest thing for my arthritis. i somehow managed to "sleep" through the pain last night. of course, i paid for it when every joint in my body cracked with that first step this morning. good times.

Aaron Judge hit the longest home run i have ever seen hit in Seattle last night and the Yankees won again, 5-1. 2 wins in a row, holy shit. they will go for the series win tonight.

Big Brother went pretty much how i thought it would go last night. Cody is back in the house and i found out last night that Jessica, his girlfriend, is the new HOH. and since she won the last temptation, that pretty much means her and Cody are safe for the next month.

NJPW was excellent last night.

Vice Special Report: A World in Disarray was very good last night. it detailed how the Iraq war was a complete clusterfuck from the beginning and how Obama dropped the ball with regards to Syria. more or less, we planted the seeds to all of this chaos and now with old fuck face as President, it's time to reap. i figure if i'm still around in the next 30 years, i will see a nuclear war.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH and Risk.

i will be watching the USA take on Costa Rica tonight in the Gold Cup semifinals. if the USA want to get to the finals, they will have to earn it.

i might watch some UFC tonight as well.

mom surprised me last night when she did the dishes before i had a chance to do them. i hope that means that she is starting to feel better again. i made sure to put them away and do the dishes from last night's dinner this morning.

i get the feeling i may do a little writing today or napping between soccer matches. at least i got the grocery shopping done between storms.

out slumming with the locals

mom wants lunch today to have a picnic feel for some fucking reason. so, she sent me to the local grocery store to get coleslaw, potato salad, etc. i just love going out in the fucking heat to have a bunch of backward thinking locals stare at me while i'm ordering 6 different things from the deli. i was encouraged to actually see a black girl and two Hispanic kids in the store while i was there. it would delight me beyond belief to see this community get more diverse. better yet, i would love to see all the racist people flee as it becomes more diverse.

the New York Yankees got some more great starting pitching last night and absolutely whipped Baltimore 16-3. it was the first time in over nine years the Yankees have had 4 straight games with 8 or more runs. hopefully today will become the 5th straight game as they go for the sweep.

i ended up watching a good amount of UFC last night. plenty of quick knockouts, that's for sure.

ROH last night was excellent. i would love to see a nice long feud between Adam Cole and Marty Scurll.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Week Tonight, Twin Peaks: The Return and I'm Dying Up Here.

i will be watching the USA men's national team try to win down in Mexico for most of tonight. if the USA can pull of the miracle, it will give them a much needed boost in their World Cup qualifying.

i might watch a little of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight, if Nashville is winning.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday will be even better.

old memories come back like a flood...

i was in my early 20's in a wild relationship that had me coming home most nights and either drinking, crying, hitting things, or all of the above. i would usually put on Whipping Post and play it way too loud. that was one of the joys of living alone at the farm. i literally could do whatever the fuck i wanted. when the news of Gregg Allman dying yesterday hit, all those memories came racing back to me. i would spend hours upon hours listening to The Allman Brothers, sitting out on the porch, writing poems, drowning my soul in cheap liquor, whatever. so goodbye to one of the greatest. go have fun with your brother once again. rest in peace.

the New York Yankees only had 2 hits yesterday. they somehow managed to beat the A's 3-2. hopefully they can win the series this afternoon.

ROH was excellent last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Twin Peaks: The Return, Veep and Silicon Valley.

i will probably watch some of the Indianapolis 500 today, hoping that Juan Pablo Montoya can win another one.

and i will probably watch some of the Coca-Cola 600 tonight as well.

i've got the UFC from Sweden on the television as i'm typing this up. nothing like starting your Sunday off with some violence.

i wrote 3 poems last night. i typed them up last night as well. i really, REALLY like these 3. they will be part of my next submission, due to go out tomorrow morning.

i will probably watch a little of AS Roma's game today. Francesco Totti's last match is not one to miss.

the joys of an unexpected victory...

when i saw that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn't starting today for Manchester United, i figured they decided they couldn't win against Chelsea, so save him for the Europa League. boy, was i wrong. United easily played their best game of the season today, blanking the league leaders 2-0. that's United's first win over Chelsea since Sir Alex was coaching the team. even better, it was the first game that Chelsea didn't have a shot on goal in a decade. it was a pure fucking joy to watch. this will be one of the sweetest victory drinks in years. hats off to Ander Herrera today, one for his goal and two for putting Eden Hazard in his pocket and never letting him out. brilliant.

Saturday Night Live was really good last night, at least what i got to see. for some fucking reason, our local NBC station ran extra commercials and didn't even bother showing the last 10 minutes of the show.

ROH was excellent last night as well.

i watched a good amount of UFC last night. i was not disappointed.

the New York Yankees got some great pitching from CC yesterday and held on for a 3-2 victory. that's 6 in a row. they will go for another sweep tonight.

enjoy some music:

on the DVR tonight will be the series finale of Girls, Veep, Last Week Tonight, Guerrilla, Billions and Feud: Bette and Joan.

the New York Rangers play Game 3 of their series against Montreal tonight at home. i'm really hoping the boys don't squander any more chances to take control of this series.

my sister is next door playing with all the children. i believe they had an Easter egg hunt as well. at least they got that in before the rain comes this afternoon.
