i can do more on fumes than most humans...

so, i had an interesting conversation with my sister this morning. she sent me a May the 4th Be With You text this morning and i replied that i am going to need the force since i am running on less than 3 hours of sleep. she said she couldn't function if she had that little of sleep. i told her i have had over 30 years of experience of running on fumes. she then said she guesses she will be cremating mom and i on the same day. that made me howl and i told her, not likely. what i wanted to type was i will make sure to say something nice about her at her funeral. but i didn't.

the reason i had less than 3 hours of sleep was twofold. first, the New York Rangers game last night went into 3 overtimes. that meant i was watching the other shit i had to watch last night much, much later than i was expecting. and secondly, my mother had one of those screams last night at 4:52 AM that you only hear in horror movies. i rushed into her room and said what's wrong. she told me to turn on the lights and swore she saw a person in her room getting ready to kill her. she admitted to me this morning that she has been seeing ghosts for the last two weeks. well fuck me. so yeah, i didn't sleep much after that.

the New York Rangers played a great first period last night. and then, for some fucking reason, they reverted back to trying to make everything cute and perfect. so, they pissed away a 2 goal lead last night. of course, the refs played a much larger role in the game than they ever should have. the Rangers scored late in the 3rd, but since the refs and the league are stuck on the Penguins dick forever, the goal did not stand. and of course, the Penguins scored in the 3rd overtime to win, 4-3. Igor stopped an amazing 79 of 83 shots yesterday for the Rangers. i'm not saying that Thursday is a MUST WIN for the Rangers, but it might as well be. i'm just hoping the game 1 loss doesn't scar the players as much as i know it does to us fans. i have a horror list of losses by the Rangers in multiple overtimes that if i let it, will keep me up for days as they replay in my mind.

here are your highlights from the other NHL playoff games last night:

the New York Yankees won their 11th straight game last night, defeating Toronto, 9-1. they will go for their 4th straight sweep tonight.

i should be on here tomorrow in the morning (most likely) as mom has her physical therapy late in the afternoon tomorrow.

grocery shopping went well for the most part today. i got mom some yellow roses for Mother's Day. she was very surprised by that.

i guess my sister will be down late Friday night for the weekend.

like a punch to the dick...

so, i was watching the New Orleans Saints play in Atlanta yesterday, while keeping one eye on the Rams vs. 49ers game. when the Rams were up 17-0, i really felt like the Saints were going to make the playoffs. of course, then Taysom Hill got hurt, again, and those positive thoughts went away. amazingly, Trevor Siemian played decent yesterday. the Saints beat the Falcons, 30-20. now, they just needed the Rams to defeat the 49ers to make the playoffs. the Rams pissed away that 17-0 lead and lost in OT, 27-24. i was gutted. and then of course, i saw the news that Bob Saget had died.

most people remember Bob Saget from the TV shows he was on. the Bob Saget i remember the most is being one of the dirtiest fucking comedians around. and it was a beautiful sight, watching a straight laced good tv dad just say the dirtiest shit you ever heard. thanks for all the laughs Bob. you will never be forgotten.

i did my laundry last night. i figured since it was cold again, i might need some clean warmer clothes to wear this week.

the finale of Dexter was great last night. i was pleased with how they ended the show this time around.

Yellowjackets was crazy last night. next week is the season finale.

Power Book II: Ghost was very good last night.

both episodes of The Righteous Gemstones were hilarious last night.

the New York Rangers play tonight at the Kings. they got Panarin back from COVID and now the head coach has it. joy.

i might watch some of the national championship game tonight between Alabama and Georgia.

Manchester United plays in the FA Cup today at home against Aston Villa. i'll miss most of the game because of my mother's doctor's appointment.

i'm not sure if they are going to make mom get another MRI or another scan done because of her head. that's part of the reason why i wanted to get the blog done now.

frustration, say hello to my good friend depression...

so, i had this feeling in the back of my head that my healthcare bullshit would only get more fucking crazy today. i was right. i believe what is going on is Anthem never cancelled my old policy that was supposed to expire on Dec. 31, 2021. that is why my new insurance, that is nearly $1,000 cheaper than my old policy, isn't showing up when it should be as it started Jan. 1, 2022. so, i had requested Anthem to call me between 3 and 3:30 today so i could get all this shit figured out. mind you, i also talked to Rite-Aid and asked them to transfer my prescriptions from Kroger to the Rite Aid in the town i live in. of course, that never happened. neither did the fucking call from Anthem. so, i went back to Kroger and got in line to get my fucking pills, mostly because i would run out of these starting tomorrow. i took a GoodRx card with me, hoping it would lower the prices. the lady asked me if i had insurance and i explained to her what was going on and told her i wanted to use the GoodRx card because i need these pills. she understood and put the card into the system. that brought the prices down from $75 to less than $35. that works for me. i paid for them and thanked the lady very much. i still need to figure out the chaos going on with Anthem, but at least i have one less fucking thing to be stressed out about.

it was colder than fuck today. i believe the wind chill definitely got under 0 last night.

so, i was saddened to see that Sidney Poitier died today. one of my favorite humans to ever walk the face of the earth.

the New York Rangers lost at Vegas last night, 5-1. i should have known it was coming when their starting goalie got placed on the COVID list right before the start of the game.

i do believe we're finally going to take down the Christmas decorations this weekend.

the scab finally came off on my middle finger today. i have a little hole on the right side of my middle finger. as much as i use that fucker in this world, i understand.

where the hell did this month go?

i can't believe we're already at the end of April. they say time flies when you're having fun. so i guess my excuse is i'm old.

here is your poetry for the final day of National Poetry Month:

and for shits and giggles, here's another poetry video:

the New York Yankees completed the sweep of the Angels last night by winning 2-1. that's the first time the Yankees have swept the Angels out there in 15 years. the Yankees have now won 9 games in a row. hopefully, they will continue that streak tonight at Houston.

i did watch a good portion of the NHL and NBA playoffs yesterday. here are the highlights:

the season finale of Homeland was excellent last night. and if the next season starts off with Carrie completely fucking nuts, it should be interesting.

Billions was really good last night, especially the fucking ending.

Westworld was fucking amazing last night.

Silicon Valley was very funny last night.

Barry had an excellent ending last night.

Drop the Mic was very good last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight and The Voice. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the night.

i went to the bank today to make a deposit. after that, i went to Dollar Tree to look for something mom and i couldn't find at the grocery store. thankfully, i was able to find something like we were looking for. this white woman complimented my shirt while i was in the store. i said thank you. i'm not sure if she thought i was supposed to say something else, as she stared at me like she was expecting something. i was in line at the time, so i just minded my own business, hoping crazy was going to take over and maybe the May poems would start off with a bang. sadly, that didn't happen.

mom got an appointment switched for her physical therapy this week. so, instead of going Friday morning, it's tomorrow morning. oh joy. so i will be on here probably in the afternoon. i guess i'll try to go to bed at a decent time tonight.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. i hope everyone had a good April.

out of my comfort zone

today has flew by it seems. mom decided she wanted to go look at houses and go out to lunch. i decided to go out of my comfort zone a little and get some food that was a bit spicy. thankfully, it wasn't pucker the asshole spicy, but a little heat wasn't bad. plus, they were shrimp tacos. that's way out of my comfort zone. saw a few houses that i like but mom is a little more particular. i figure before too long, i'll be living in my broken down truck.

mom test drove the Rav4 yesterday and hated it. so, there goes my hope of getting her vehicle anytime soon.

it's been pretty cloudy today, but not from the clouds. the smoke from the fires out west have made it here now.

the Yankees came from behind a few times last night to win 8-7. finally, they won a series against a shitty team. they play back at home tonight, starting a series against Detroit. hopefully the bats stay hot. of course, there was another pitching injury last night. i can't ever remember when so many starters got hurt in one season for one team.

Manchester United plays Liverpool tonight in the finals of the pre-season tournament here in the USA. this should be a good test for the boys. hopefully, they win. i can't stand Liverpool, so i would love to hear the excuses after a Manchester United win.

i watched a ton of auto racing yesterday. that's always a good way for me to nap. that and golf.

my night on tv is going to be nuts as the Yankees, United, and Monday Night Raw are all on at the same time. good thing i'm crazy.

the shows last night were great. Big Brother was pretty funny. Ray Donovan was good. The Strain was fucking excellent. Last Week Tonight was hilarious as always. Masters of Sex was good as well.

after all that, i did manage to write 5 poems. i typed them up this afternoon. let me just say that August is off to a good start. i'll probably do a few submissions here in the next week or so.

so far, vacation week is going well. tomorrow i get to tackle my closet and round up all the clothes i don't wear anymore so i can give them away to charity. good times.

that's all for me folks. hope everyone had a great weekend.

be well. be cool. be creative. be quick to send me cash, panties, gift cards, a kind letter, or hate mail. it's all good.

just how i wanted to start my holiday weekend

in case you don't know me, i hate fucking losing. hate it with a passion that most people believe is psychotic. so, last night was one tough pill to swallow.

the New York Rangers lost in OT last night, 3-2. i was thrilled when they scored late to force overtime, given that they had been outplayed for nearly 40 straight minutes. but, 72 seconds into OT, the game was over. i was very pissed at how many times the Rangers refused to make the simple play. the KISS theory (keep it simple stupid) works amazingly well in the playoffs. of course, it wouldn't be a playoff game this year without some HORRIFIC officiating. and i'm talking about shit that refs in the minor leagues don't miss. the Rangers are still up 2-1 in the series, but Game 4 is a MUST win to regain all the momentum in the series. sadly, they don't play again until Sunday, so this loss will fester for way too long.

the New York Yankees lost 3-2 last night in a game where they were manhandled by the White Sox for most of it. 3 damn hits for the entire game. i was a little amazed that they actually had a chance to win the game late. the White Sox starter owns the Yankees in his career, so i wasn't very surprised. hopefully they can win tonight.

so, i had a night of some shitty sleeping in great sleeping weather. i got up this morning to get all the shit done i needed to do today so i could get the grass mowed and over with so i might actually have a chance of enjoying my evening. so i go down to get the paper and for the second straight day, it wasn't where it was supposed to be. we have a tube for it with the paper's name on it, so you would think any dumb fuck would think to put it there. at least yesterday it was in plastic. today, it wasn't. and the wind tends to fucking blow out here in the sticks. and, i wasn't about to walk over planted fields to get the parts of the paper that had blown across the road. people get shot for shit like that out here. we're supposed to have another one brought out here, which i will believe it when i see it.

as you might imagine, my frustration level at this point is through the fucking roof. now i get to go out and mow the grass with this thick ass playoff beard on me that will only make me hotter and more pissed. can't wait to count the number of insects that get caught in it while i'm flying around like a madman in about 30 minutes. good times.

not sure what i'm going to watch tonight. probably some baseball. if my anger hasn't gone down, there might be some writing or painting in my future. i do like how my anger often leads to creativity. i suppose that's better than the alternative, murdering the world.

not sure when i'll be on here tomorrow. chances are it will be after the Champions League final.

hope everyone has a great weekend. hope everyone enjoys the holiday and has some fun. i'm off to go get a sunburn and scare the shit out of some cats.

peace and chicken grease...

a slight glimpse of hope

last night was another of those sports nights that i wish i would have been a comic book fan and never liked sports at all. but, thankfully, this afternoon has offered a glimpse of hope.

Manchester United won 3-1 over Hull City with James Wilson getting the first 2 goals on his debut with the senior team. not bad for 18 years old. RVP got the other goal on an assist from Ryan Giggs, who played the last 20 minutes of the game. he nearly scored but the goalie made a great save. i did laugh when the announcers said that the goalie must not have read the script since this was likely Giggs' last game at Old Trafford as a player. first season out of the 23 that he didn't score. unless of course he plays on Sunday. that will mark the end of this horrific season and the start to the summer of who knows what the fuck is going to happen next. thankfully, i'll have the World Cup to keep my mind from constantly thinking about it.

as for last night, the New York Rangers lost 2-0 in game 3. that's 2 straight games that they haven't scored. the power play showed signs of life last night but couldn't score, which is beyond frustrating by now. they better tie this series up in game 4 or it is going to be over soon.

the Yankees invented another way to lose last night. top of the 8th, bases loaded and no outs and they can't get anyone in. of course, a bad call from the umpire is the excuse these assholes will use. and then in the bottom of the 8th they walk FIVE straight batters to give the Angels the game, 4-1. that drove my frustration to the point that i was up until 4 in the morning.

Louie was excellent last night. both episodes made me laugh. the poker table scene was the best tv i have seen in 2014. helps when some of my favorite comics are involved.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good as well. i thought the show kept a decent pace for most of the evening even though the crowd was absolutely dead at times.

The Voice last night was really, really good. i have no clue who is going home tonight. i believe they cut it from 8 to 5 this evening. chances are there will be 3 people that could have won the whole thing going home tonight. i really think the talent this season is strong.

as for tonight, after The Voice will be Deadliest Catch. after that will be my torture of watching the Yankees. i imagine i will be watching some playoff hockey and basketball as well this evening. and hopefully i will be getting to sleep much earlier than last night.

i am planning on mowing the grass tomorrow. both of my legs feel much better and the weather looks like it is going to be great. i want to start sometime in the late morning so i can be done in time to get a shower in before the New York Rangers play again.

chances are i will write my next blog in the morning. i doubt i will be interested in writing after hours in the sun. i doubt i will be interested in doing anything.

hope this finds everyone well. hopefully your teams are doing better than mine. these are the days i wish i had a woman that could take my mind off of things. my hands are developing carpal tunnel i believe. enjoy that visual.

if i could turn back time...

talk about a Sunday to forget, for the most part, where do i begin?

Manchester United played a Cardiff team that they should have beaten easily. but, given all the injuries, i could understand a close win. but giving up a late goal for a 2-2 draw was mind fucking blowing to say the least. especially when United had a chance to win the game after that goal but Rooney decides to pass instead of taking on the goalie 1 on 1. always fun to blow a gasket on a Sunday morning and be pissed off for the rest of the day. guess what, still am actually.

my fantasy football day shit the bed as well. i only had 4 players all day long score touchdowns. how i managed to get a split in the results is beyond me.

what sort of saved my day from being one i wanted to brush my teeth with a shotgun was the season finale of Boardwalk Empire. holy shit, that was good. so many twists, bringing up shit from previous seasons and opening up huge storylines for the next season. just fucking brilliant.

Total Divas is basically just a hour where my brain gets some time off.

Homeland was crazy and outlandish. and the more the show gets like that, the more i think it is closer to the truth than anyone wants to realize.

Masters of Sex was pretty good as well. my eyes were struggling at this point of the night but i made it through.

i got some decent sleep, waking up this morning feeling somewhat refreshed. and then after the morning piss and seeing blood on the toilet seat that wasn't there before i sat down, started another whirlwind. i guess i had another blood blister that somehow got popped in my sleep. i always figured i'm a bad sleeper.

after dealing with that i had breakfast, which gave me the shits. why wouldn't it at this point. so, 2 pills later and i am hopefully stopped up for the next 24 hours. i imagine if i didn't have the outlet of writing and be comfortable enough to share all the horrific details, i would be yet another suicide. of course, i never tend to have any fucking clue what the future holds for me.

tonight will be another busy night. the New York Rangers play down in Tampa. hopefully the road winning streak continues. The Voice is live with the top 8 performing. Monday Night Raw is usually pretty interesting the night after a PPV. then, 1 hour after that ends, the Dayton Flyers play Gonzaga out in Maui. who knows what time i will be getting to sleep if they pull off the upset. if they get blown out, i will have no problems falling asleep. lose a game they could have won and i'll be up all night.

i'm hoping a few victory beers this evening puts me to sleep quickly.

i have absolutely no intention of watching the NFL game tonight. this was the absolute worst week of picking games EVER for me. going into tonight, i am 4-9 for the week. holy fuck, what a horrible day.thank god i don't gamble any longer. i'd be broke and have plenty of broken bones at the moment.

well, enough of my fucking rambling. hope this finds everyone well. my sister is coming down for the holiday week tomorrow night. let the dysfunction begin...

another one of "those" days

i was feeling pretty good this morning. i was just getting done with some stuff on YouTube when my stomach decided it was going to stage a protest rally. i haven't eaten anything crazy or out of the ordinary here lately, so i have no fucking clue what's going on with me. so, after the rest of the morning on the toilet i decided what better to do than mail out some poems.

i sent out 8 poems this afternoon, 3 to The Camel Saloon and 5 to miracle e-zine. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the news here.

i was hoping the rest of my shipment from amazon.com was going to be in the mail, but of course it wasn't. i know it's at the damn post office, they just haven't worked it yet.

the Yankees are on the west coast this week, so i'm going to have some late nights. the next 2 games are going to be tricky against the Dodgers. i'd be really happy with a split considering they are facing their best pitchers.

also tonight is the season finale of Deadliest Catch. judging from the previews, there's going to be a gruesome injury tonight. i'll definitely have my eyes glued to that before i flip to baseball.

Monday Night Raw was pretty good last night. i was in and out of it as it was taped last week so i pretty much knew what was going to happen.

the humidity really picked up today so i finally shut the house up. it looks like it may actually go back to being summer here after this rain works through the area. my luck the grass will grow a foot in the next 3 days.

that's all for today. i've got some floors to vacuum, a long shower to take and maybe a nap.

after the morning thunderstorms

i woke up this morning and forgot that team USA was playing Russia in the Hockey World Championships. by the time i remembered the game was over. i searched around for the score and then laughed my ass off. USA wins 8-3. Russia's worst loss in the tournament EVER. fucking beautiful. team USA plays Switzerland in the semi-finals next.

caught a damn squirrel on one of the bird feeders and went out to scare it off and pick back up the one i just know the little fucker knocked down. all of this in a damn thunderstorm. fun.

it's with a little sadness but a true sense of the cold reality of living on a farm that i must come to grips with the likely fact my cats Langston Hughes and Neal Cassady are dead. they have been gone for over 5 weeks with no sight of them. i think it's safe to assume. that brings the cat total down to 14. that doesn't include the kittens i know damn well Whitey and Rita Dove have hidden.

but the sadness was temporary as i noticed a little bit of green poking up from the freshly planted fields. good to see the corn coming up. hopefully we have a really strong crop this year. we need it after the insurance season of last year.

i decided to take some pictures as i noticed it had been a little while. plus, i wanted to figure out how to post them to the new Google+ (which i frankly fucking hate). here are my 3 favorites. you can see the other 15 in the May 16, 2013 album on my Google+ page.

the New York Yankees had one of those nights last night. Phil Hughes couldn't get out of the first inning and you just knew it was going to be an erase from your mind as soon as it is over type of game. the Yankees lost 12-2. at least i was smart enough to start former Yankee Raul Ibanez in the game for my fantasy team. 2 home runs and 6 runs batted in. not bad. also, it was nice to see 2 guys make their major league debuts last night. after reading about these kids for years it's good to see if they really are as good as i have heard about. time will tell. hopefully the Yankees win the series by taking the rubber game tonight.

i'm looking forward to the Rangers vs. Bruins game tonight. should be a good one. i'll spend most of the night fixated on that. i'm sure i'll manage to get in the season finale of The Big Bang Theory and probably some other shit in the intermissions. i'd love to see the Rangers win this series in something less than 7 games.

now, i have plenty of dishes to do and hopefully a little nap to take before the games tonight. hope this finds everyone well. still trying to come up with how i'm going to promote the book tomorrow. toying with the idea of a little art video for one of the shorter poems. not sure yet. the Rangers could lose tonight or someone gets injured and i'll just be in a fuck the world mood tomorrow and won't do shit. most of my YouTube videos have been spur of the moment anyway.

i actually got a compliment on them last night which caught me off guard. always nice to know someone is enjoying it. hopefully many silent people are as well.

one day at a time

i really wish the New York Rangers could play Tampa all season long. they have been the only team the Rangers have played against this season and looked dominant against. a total ass kicking last night in a 4-1 victory. no complaints from me at all. a power play goal, taking the body, out-shooting them by a wide margin, always on the jump, was very nice to see. of course, it helps when you get most of the injured players back. most importantly Rick Nash. below is a video of the awesome, sick hands the Rangers and my fantasy team had been missing for the last week or so.

hopefully he stays healthy and the team takes off from here.

hopefully spring training is no example of how the Yankees will play this season. the few times i have caught a few minutes of the games, no other way to put it, just god awful. i really don't want one of those seasons from my youth again. the early 80's Yankees were just good enough to tease you and then fail miserably. i'd rather not live that again.

big sports weekend coming up. Manchester United plays Saturday morning. hopefully, they can get the 3 points and no injuries as well. (please) they have a huge game with Real Madrid in just a few days after Saturday. they need to be as healthy as possible for that one. i know CR7 will be inspired, more than usual to be back home.

was a little sad to see the Dayton Flyers aren't going to be included in the catholic 7 new big east. as a season ticket holder, i would have loved to see that. hopefully it happens in the next few years as everyone in the media believes it will. i will be in attendance on Saturday as they face another must win game against Richmond. those games are usually nail-biters, so i will be prepared for last second elation or heartbreak. but honestly, i wouldn't mind another blowout.

Sunday night will be tricky for me. the Rangers play at 7:30 and the Sunday night shows i watch each week start at 9. i get the feeling it's going to be a late one for me. damn, i need a DVR.

another day with no sunshine. not exactly how i wanted to start the month. but, hopefully it will warm up some in the next week or so.

hope everyone has a great weekend. be safe, take it easy. and if it's easy, take it again.

Friday the 13th, who gives a shit

i always laugh at people who think of some crazy shit just because it's Friday the 13th. do yourself and the world a favor and think of crazy shit all the time.

i will admit though, today is pretty fucking weird. only because i find myself totally agreeing with something Dane Cook said. hell might have just froze over. it was in regards to the whole Daniel Tosh bullshit (rape jokes) going on, the world's most over-hyped comic ever tweeted out that anyone who is easily offended should kill themselves. i raise a glass and say bravo. now, if he would only put himself at the beginning of the line.

thin the herd.

getting the itch to check out some music festivals this summer. only time will tell if that itch is greeted with a credit card or not.

baseball gets back in the swing of things tonight. hopefully the Yankees can start off the second half on fire and put this damn division to bed early. the 6 game home stand to start off won't be easy. playing the Angels and Blue Jays in that bandbox has home run derby written all over it. or better, beer league softball. as long as they win, i couldn't give 2 shits how.

shout out to Ben on the kind words regarding my writing. totally appreciate it. maybe one day the rest of the world will understand.

went a little heavy on the music this morning

Anthrax - Sound of White Noise
Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
Tool - Undertow
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss

poetry news

typed up the poems i wrote last night. 2 of them are going to be pretty easy to find a home for. the third one, more of a romantic theme, those are really about finding someone on the right day. i'm glad patience is something i'm blessed with.

heard from my publisher on my upcoming book, "Sofisticated White Trash". a lot of cool ideas floating around. i really think this thing will be spectacular.

i also will have broadsides for sale very soon. i have 3 poems (2 broadsides) involved in the 48th Street Press Broadsides 2012 Project. stay tuned for more info. a really incredible list in this project, including John M. Bennett, Leonard Cirino, Mike Daily, Kevin M. Hibshman, Gerald Nicosia, Ben Smith and a slew of others.

thanks for reading. feel free to pass the info along to anyone who may be interested.
